Volume Buttons and No sound - Vibrant General

I flashed a co-workers vibrant today, and after messing up and having to use eugunes froyo followed by the true 959 flash, I got 2.1 rooted. Once I was there I flashed the Deodexed KA5 rom here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913477&highlight=busybox+2.2. After that I flashed the voodoo lagfix 5.5
She didn't get much chance to use it at work, but text me just now to say that she can't hear anyone on her phone, but can if she uses speaker phone, and that the volume buttons are reversed (up puts the volume down).
Any idea what could be causing that? The only thing i can think of is the voodoo lagfix possibly being for the I9000, but if that's the case is there even a lagfix for the vibrant on froyo?
Thanks for the help.
EDIT: apparently the phone doesnt make any noise when it turns on either.

Sounds like a bad flash! Just odin back and reflash.

Anyone experience any power button delay?

I've noticed that whenever I press the power button to wake my phone up, there usually is a delay from the time I press it til the lock screen comes up. The delay is about 2-3 seconds. Anyone else seeing this delay or is it just me? Im running a stock clean unrooted vibrant.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
this also happens to me but it's not that often. Try lagfix?
Oh is this something that can be fixed with the lag fix? Can anyone with lagfix testify to this?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
This isn't fixed with a lagfix; and it is quite normal with this phone. Custom ROMs, in my experience, do a good job with it though.
I'm not really sure, because when i have my delays i think it's only a lag.
Lagfix wont help.
I have lagfix and this happenstoo.
1 reason is... when you click power your phone fades in or out so that causes it to delay a second then it just does it again for a second to get everything started and ready.
No real way to fix. Its usually on every vibrant but the ones with super fast ROMS wont have it.

My phone often takes up to 10 seconds to turn off the screen which is super annoying.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
10 seconds?! I STRONGLY reccomend you do a full master reset.

Screen timeout during calls

This is getting annoying how can it be fixed, can it be fixed?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I notice it, too, with Super Clean v4 and the matching kernel. When in a call, the screen turns off within 2 seconds, no matter how I get it to come back on (pull awya from ear or press power button). Makes it near impossible to use automaed call systems.
It sucks why do we have the screen sensors if they dont work during calls its not supposed to time out unless something triggers it
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I do not have such problems. My screen stays on unless I get close to the sensor. Once I move away the screen comes back. What are you running? Kernel / rom
Stock dl09
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
When I get out of work I'll check my wife's stock dl09 to see if the issue is present cuz my rooted voodoo dj05 is sensor dependent
Yeah I'm having the same problem, I am using Super Clean DJ05. I have to unlock the screen every time I take it off from my ear, no matter how long it's been.
I only had that problem on my stock rom after I disabled a needed service.
I think it was one of the voicemail services. Can't remember which one off hand.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I had that probably till I cleaned my screen
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
My wife doesn't have that problem but my sister does. Both stock dl09. Odd I can't figure out why.
Had the same issue with the kernel in the RubikS 1.7 OP. Switched to the 1/23 JT V5 and it went away.

You could always try downloading the galaxy tuner and adjusting the volume through it. You must be rooted though...

I don't use any of the stock ringers anyway, so I just modded the gain of the MP3's I use for ringers before I sent them to the phone. I also use the Voodoo sound app to get the gain up a little on the headphone jack.

I guess we're just more deaf than you are. For fun I listen to death metal for long periods on high volume and shoot shotguns, high powered rifles, etc... My hearing is pretty well screwed.

Every day I work iexpose my self to 100dbs or greater for extended period of time. My personal car reaches 172dbs (173dbs with voodoo sound) (world record is 178dbs). If you haven't figured it out I do mobil electronics. I'm also no stranger to high powered fire arms.
Its not long till I'm fully deaf

I hear ya man (pun intended).... I also played in a machine shop on the weekends when I was a kid which I'm sure didn't help. I have no idea how many dbs my car puts out but I'm sure it's no where near that. Wonder if there's an app for that...
Well, Well, Well... This really is a swiss army phone. Just installed a free DB meter.

I wonder if it actually works? I'll have to run it side by side with a real mic

My mom had this same problem. I found a solution tho. Somehow when she connected her Bluetooth the phone rings through the front speaker instead of the speakerphone speaker so I'm assuming increasing the volume of a ringtone may kill your speaker. Anyway if you disconnect Bluetooth and restart the phone the ringtones worked flawlessly
Mind you she began having the problem after the froyo update but today she said she updater something last night now she has low volume again. Hope this helps somebody

Audio and speakers

I'm currently on miui rom and when my phone rings it sounds like my speaker is bout to blow. Lol. Is there a app or something that I can use to adjust this.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Nope. It's happened to me twice. It's a hardware failure. If you're still under warranty go to a store or call in for a replacement. All the ROMs in the world can't help that.
Yeah it only does it on this rom tho. Lol. If I flash my other roms it's not near as loud. Lol
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I'd probably say avoid that ROM for now then. Basically what's happening is the speaker is on it's way out. It will get worse before it gets better. I still say take a look at warranty replacement if you have that option.
Not sure if this will help, but I use IncrediKernel, and with the "Audio Boost" option set, my Inc did the same. With the IncrediControl app, it's an option to be checked or un-checked, without it, maybe try echo 0 > /sys/kernel/audio_boost/aboost
Other than that, MIUI has been doing some work on the sound system and maybe it's something going on in the new settings? There's a "System Volume" now in the menu for "Sound and Vibration Settings" that I've noticed lately, as well, maybe give that a little tweak?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
The physical speaker in the phone is really bad, and most people's blow out. It's fairly easy to replace and inexpensive (under $5). Will maybe take you 5 minutes.
Youtube videos for instruction.
Ohh. Ok. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I also didn't realize that a kernel could effect some the sound.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I've blown two speakers on my phone already, waiting to replace this last phone until my upgrade. Why are these speakers on these so bad?
Mine acts up with the miui rom. But if I install cm7 they work fine. I don't understand that. Lol

Caller cant hear me solution (Voodoo)

called myself through my house phone and played with voodoo settings till i heard a difference. well, this worked for me:
in voodoo, scroll down till you see "Digital/Analog Conversion Quality Settings"
uncheck "Hi-fi record" (ADC 128x oversampling Maximize recordings quality)
rom being used: cynogenMod beta1
Voodoo Sound Plus 3.1.1
Upgrade to beta 2
The only setting that causes mic issues is the mic one the options are normal, balanced and loud something to that effect change it to loud and callers will hear you. The hifi record does not play a factor.
Holy double thread Batman!
shucks
the environments change the input volume and i think the hi-fi record turns on a gate. cause turning off hi-fi made a big difference to me cause people dont have hard time hearing me anymore and i dont have to touch anything. and i've always thought recording has to do with mic inputs. oh well....

They need to incorporate it into Cm7. Lemme rephrase that, they SHOULD incorporate it, I would really appreciate it
EDIT: fix put into RC1-update 1!

I don't think so, I'm still on beta 1, but the voodoo toggle was the fix for me to get the mic to work properly, so I know they didn't fix it on Beta 1.

Well rc1 update one has been out for a litttle bit the change log says they boosted the mic

Beta 2 did not fix this issue in regards to what he's talking about, and without testing it yourself you shouldn't tell him he's wrong. I'm always told people can not hear me and I just did the same test with my home phone. With HiFi record enabled I could not be heard unless I put my mouth directly over the mic and talked very loud. With HiFi record disabled I could then be heard from a normal distance at which with it enabled I could not be heard at all from the same distance as if I were not even speaking.
Thank you for this. I'll test more later when my girl calls me and see if she can actually hear me ok or not with this disabled.

Some of us use voodoo sound with the stock kernel through voodoo sound plus. That's where it gets confusing. I'm not saying the issue is cm9. It's definitely this setting and/or voodoo sound in general. I'm just saying this is good to know for any of us that use stock cm9 but also inject the voodoo driver via the app.

This totally works i tried it on 3 different cell phones my moms epic touch my dads zte fury and my younger brothers transform ultra i think the way it makes things higher quality is it filters out more interference ergo wind static etc etc but in doing so the volume it can record at is severly lowered.
