Is there any way to speed up the notification popup? I keep hitting the statusbar with my thumb (aiming for the spacebar when typing, and I've even turned off the softkeys notification popup button) and it takes most of a second to scroll up so I can send it away. I've turned off all the animations in Spare Parts and CyanogenMod settings.
I've tried putting the statusbar on top, I don't like it, but I may have to get used to it just to avoid this.
Alternatively, is there any way to make the notifications popup not fullscreen? It would go faster if it didn't have to scroll up the whole screen.
Thanks!

I've been searching for an answer to this, but haven't found anything. Maybe I've missed something?
If I recall correctly, in 4.1 I was able to open the notifications by just tapping the notification area. It was very easy.
With the 4.2 phablet UI, not only are my notifications in the farther corner from my thumb, but I have to do a full swiping motion to open them. Half the time I don't go far enough, and it bounces shut again!
Is there any mod or app to allow opening the notifications with just a tap? Or maybe to change how far I have to drag for it to decide to stay open.
NOTE: I don't mean an app that adds a home-screen shortcut or widget. A)I don't need another icon on my home-screen, and B)I want to be able to do this from inside any app.
Thanks.
My problem is with kitkat lockscreen, maybe you noticed or not but kitkat slide to unlock effect introducing some lag to notification bar. when you unlock your screen, try to lower down notification bar it lags like hell. If you wait for the slide animation is finished lag disappears, also if you touch that unlock ring notification bar lags again. I tried several roms based on 4.4 but same lag is still there, only thing to avoid is using 4.3 roms, which is a downgrade. So I want to ask is there a way to extract 4.3 or some other slide to unlock screen and flash it to 4.4 stock rooted phone?(using lock screen apps are not good enough and they do not look good)
thanks in advance.
I don't think it's a lag. I think it was made that way on purpose. By the way, I do not experience lag but when I touch the ring, I can't pull the status bar. The same when I lower or touch the status bar, I can't slide the lockring. It just won't work simultaneously. So, my opinion is that it was purposely made to behave like that. It's either you slide to unlock then pull your notification or pull your notification and it will go straight into that particular app. I always do the latter.

I didn't mean simultaneously when you just touch (or tap) the ring or just after screen is powered, some animation starts(ring expands or something like that) so that animation makes notification bar stutter or lag, you can try it by just after you push power button to turn on the screen and then try to lower notification bar you can see bar stutters(after animation stops, it works normal).

I see yeah, you're right. It stutters a bit. Try using art runtime then, maybe it helps reduce it (read it somewhere before but didn't try it).

İm using xposed so art is not really option but i tried it and unfortunately no it do not effect this bug much, only way i see is to change slide option to something else or changing lockscreen itself(if it is possible of course) but thanks anyway.
Sometimes if i am in an app or game, i can accidentally pull the notification bar down, especially if i have to tap that area of the screen, i was wondering if there is a way so when i am in an app, i can set it to lock and not automatically pull down?
There has also been times when i have been in a phone call and my ear has actually made the bar activate and drag down.
Thanks
James

I know with my N5 I had constant problems with the "butt dial flashlight" and on of the reasons I got a N6 is that I wanted to eliminate that problem and indeed it was successful. Now with the 6P this morning I noticed my pocket was getting hot and I took the phone out and the flashlight was on.. How do I disable the flashlight as I never use it anyway and if you ever saw a battery sucker it is the flashlight?
Assuming you're talking about the quick launch icon in the notification shade, turn on System UI Tuner (hold down the settings gear in the shade for a few seconds and it will start to spin under your finger (hard to see). Then go into settings and at the very bottom it will say System UI tuner. You can then customize what icons are shown in the shade.
Ok what is "notification shade" .. does phone need to be rooted as I held down the settings gear for at least 9 seconds on the screen that shows things such as bluetooth, airplane mode, auto rotate, Location.. etc and I never got the setting wheel on the upper right near the percentage of battery and nothing happened, but my 6P is not rooted?
Your phone does not need to be rooted, but you do need to keep your finger very still as you're pressing on the gear icon. It took me a couple of tries.
if you have OK GOOGLE enabled...
"OK Google, turn off flashlight".
I'm serious.
You don't need to be rooted. Maybe have developer settings turned on in the first place?
"To enable System UI Tuner in Android 6.0 Marshmallow preview 3, pull down your notification shade and long-press on the Settings gear icon for up to 5 seconds. Once you let go, you should see a pop-up with the message “Congrats! System UI Tuner has been added to Settings.†And as that message suggests, you can head into settings, scroll to the bottom, and find an option for System UI Tuner."
Once enabled you will see a small wrench next to the gear icon in the notification shade.
Notification shade is the pulldown menu where you notifications appear, and where the quicklaunch icons are.
As @Zlatty said, you might need to turn on Developer Options first (but the Droid Life guide doesn't mention it). To enable this, go to Settings > About and tap on Build Number 7-8 times until it says "You're a developer!".
Will this stop it from going on or does it just shut it off once it it on?
OK I was able to access that screen and flashlight icon was pale with a diagonal line through it but all that tells me is that it is off as I did nothing to disable PERMANENTLY the flashlight that I know of ??
Yes that worked but you have to know it is on.. I want it never to go on.
@painfree Click and hold on the flashlight quick launch icon in the System UI tuner Quick Settings and drag it down to the trash to delete the icon from your Quick Settings/Quick Launch.
fury683, thank you that worked it is removed.
For years I have hidden the notification drawer on the top of the screen, most of the info there is duplicated in my widgets, and I just don't like the clutter. However with the V20, hiding the notification drawer also turns off my second screen...which then gets rid of one of the marquee features of this phone.
I've tried on multiple launchers (Nova and Next), and the same result. I've tried permanently hiding it, and using gestures to toggle on and off.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Any rooted users know if this is a problem after root? This one little problem annoys me to no end.
Thanks a lot.
I'm on a non-rooted Verizon V20.
There is a setting that might help that allows it to be active when the display is in fullscreen mode. It's meant for videos so it might not have full functionality.
I'm rooted and I get the same thing. I use Nova and the "toggle notification bar" shuts the second screen off along with the notification bar. I don't know why they're tied together like that, it's annoying...
The second screen's "show time while content is shown" option will leave it on with the notification bar toggled off, but it doesn't do anything, it just shows time and notifications up there. You can't scroll it to get to anything.
