Hey all
I've first installed CM7 stable on an sd card for my nook about 2-3 month ago. Ever since, every few weeks the wifi stops working - it won't find any network.
The strange thing is that it always happens after I'm in my university campus and it always starts with it being unable to connect to the network there (after being o. with it in the past).
I already re-installed it 3 times and it getting a little annoying.
Any ideas ? tips or tricks ?
Do you think putting HoneyComb might work ? If so, can you point me to a simple guide to install it on an sd card (with the app store).
Thanks

Well this is a new problem. My G1 seems to have decided it will not register on any 2G networks any more. Tried 3 SIM cards, all the same situation where 3G works fine then 2G fails completely.
I had been experiencing random cut outs on both the WiFi and mobile connections since upgrading to the latest Cyanogen firmware so upgraded to the latest radio. That worked fine for a couple of days but now no dice.
Also worth mentioning is that the device was crashing sometimes when the phone gets too much in the memory (for instance with a couple of widgets running it crashes when you start the camera).
Any advice would be great
Have gone all the way back to stock (and most things in between) in the hope than it was a bad flash but not looking that way
Also had the back off to see if there are any obvious problems (like a loose connection or obvious burnt board), but still no joy. Anyone know what sort of costs HTC would put in to get this sorted?
Hello all,
Not sure if anyone else is having this problem.
First of all, better to mention what my Aria is running on:
Stock ROM unrooted. Updated to Froyo from HTC via FOTA. I'm not located in the US therefore my phone isn't under AT&T which many here are. My ROM is strictly HTC's Asia's ROM.
Now I don't have much in a way of problems with my phone, its just odd to me that every once in a while (around once every week or so) I need to reboot my phone. This is because for some strange reason, my phone won't connect to the data network (3G) or it shows that it is connected but no data activity (even after I've instructed the phone to sync all information, i.e. weather, emails, etc). I've tried switching on/off the data network connection and also have tried switching between airplane modes on/off (in hopes to reset something) but nothing works.
I'm not sure if this is an inherent problem to the Aria's 2.2 update or if there is something wrong with my carrier, however the problem is ALWAYS FIXED right after a fresh reboot.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Phone information. Set preferred network.
Try switching between the different options.

Thanks for the hint thinkhope. I'll try your suggestion. May I ask what you think the problem may be?
Update: I tried it for a couple of days and I still get the same problem. I tried switching between preferred networks but the problem persists. Quick reboot and once again, fixed.
I also have this same problem, stock/custom ROM no matter which ROM the problem is still there, up to a point that made me wanna smash my phone on the ground. I tried to use my SIM card on my wife's SGS and seems like no such problems faced. Is this a common problem for HTC phones?
So just picked up a MyTouch 4g and so far I love it! Glad I switched from being a Windows Mobile user to a die hard Android now! Anyhow so the first thing I did when I got home was of course root it and found a custom ROM for it. I went and got [ROM][07/04/11] Virtuous Unity Sense 3.0 based on Pyramid [1.27.0] and finally got it flashed after some tinkering. Thank god I used linux before! So the phone seems to work fine, but today I noticed some annoying issues with it. I upgraded the sd card to 16gb from 8gb and had to reloaded a few of my games, no biggie, everything works now. But the WiFi is starting to piss me off. At work the wifi shouldn't be an issue, it is slow, but works. The phone just seems to keep dropping connection for no reason, then says emergency calls only and then picks back up the WiFi, etc. Does this while WiFi calling is enabled, now when I disable that, the WiFi still has issues like it won't keep a good signal. Hell I am sitting beside the router and still the signal goes up and down. I know the wifi works because I am using it thru my laptop to type this atm (using ubuntu 11.04 of course!) I have done some searching thru out the forums and noticed some others complaining about the same issue. I am asking because didn't know if this was ROM related, or maybe needed a different radio like my HTC tilt 2 used when I had it? Any ideas or maybe point me in the general direction?
Hello,
If you don't want the boring details of how I discovered the problem feel free to skip the next couple of paragraphs and go straight to the technical details.
I got my first Android phone (Motorola Defy) a couple of weeks ago and at first I was only using it with wifi because my data plan wasn't activated yet. While playing with it a little I realised that I saw a lot less ads than my boyfriend on his 6 month old Defy. I thougt it was weird but, well, seeing less ads is not a big problem.
Then when I got my data plan I saw that when I wasn't home I saw a lot more ads, so I began to suspect it had to do with how my phone was connected to the internet : wifi or 3G.
Next I wanted to try out Astrid and when I tried to log in using my Google account it failed repeatedly. Until I disabled wifi and it logged in fine using 3G.
Then I installed RTÉ DocOnOne to listen to documentaries while falling asleep. When wifi is enabled, it cannot start up because it can't connect (network timeout). Over 3G, no problem.
At first I thought it was my router blocking ports or something but it happens with different wifi APs and more importantly my boyfriend's phone, connected to the same access point, loads everything without a problem.
Let's sum up:
Some apps can't access the network using wifi but work fine when using 3G.
It happens regardless of the wifi AP (tried 4 different ones with different routers) and another phone using the same app connected to the same wifi AP can access the network just fine.
If I initiate the connection using 3G then switch to wifi (typically I launch the app with 3G, switch wifi on without closing the app), it still works after that (RTE DocOnOne has no pb streaming the documentaries once it has launched)
My phone is a Motorola Defy, French retail ROM, not rooted, no motoblur account (skipped the configuration), Froyo 2.2.2 (already on the phone when I got it), system version (if that means anything to you) Version.34.164.3.MB525.Retail.en.FR, kernel 2.6.32.9-g050ccf2, build 3.4.2-164
I can't give as much details about my boyfriend's phone (that doesn't have the problem) because he's not here right now but I can tell you that it is a Motorola Defy too, French retail (I think) ROM, Froyo updated from preinstalled Eclair (using the official Motorola update), not rooted, with a motoblur account
I have no idea if that's relevant or not, but my phone has the "google maps 5.7.0 crashes on Defy" issue (18446 in the android issue tracker) and my boyfriend's phone hasn't.
Has anyone encountered this issue before ? I couldn't find anything on this forum or with a google search.
Is there any tool I can use to try and find the cause of the problem ?
Thank you for reading all this, sorry if my message was long but I wanted to give as much detail as possible to help the nice people who may find what is wrong with my phone
I didn't read all..
but if your phone don't have problems then check this:
1. go to settings
2. Select "Location & security settings"
3. enable this "Use wireless networks" Location determined by WiFi and/or mobile networks
4. test does it work...
Hello manumanfred,
I did what you suggested (actually it was already checked) and the problem is still there (tried unchecking it too).
I am not sure why you suggested it, was that related to some phones having wifi problems in some countries ? I read a thread about that when I was researching my problem but it is different. In my case, wifi works most of the time, but some requests always time out.
Thanks for trying
Anyone else has an idea of something I could try ?

Hello, did you solve the issue?
Hello people,
Does anybody have problems with Wi-Fi( sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and it shows a very poor signal and not all networks are visible), Bluetooth(won't work at all) and SD card mounting (keeps mounting and unmounting randomly)??
I'm using Samsung Galaxy S4(GT-I9505), CM13 (pretty much all nightlies I've used have the same problem), and switched back to TouchWiz, same problem. no fix.
If anyone knows or heard about these problems please tell me. And Thanks!
Yes I tried others, same problem. and no. SD card work fine, I dunno I think it has something to do with hardware, do you think so also?
I flashed back to TouchWiz, but Wi-Fi and Bluetooth still have problems, Bluetooth won't work at all, and Wi-Fi (doesn't work well, shows poor signal and not all available networks).
And SD and SIM cards are pretty moody, they keep mounting and unmounting randomly.

Hey! Did you ever find out what was wrong with this? Mine stopped detecting the SD card first and said it wasn't formatted right. Then went the wifi. Lastly, after a factory reset, it decided my SIM card wasn't there. It is. Everything was working beautifully for a few days with Legacy OS (I switched because I thought my Android update was why my wifi quit right after).
I tried the fix of putting pressure on the connector by putting a little piece of tape or folded paper over the connection point (just to the left of the flash- I'd post a link, but I'm not permitted yet- new user), but to no avail.
