Hi!
About to buy a Nexus S (SAMOLED version).
It's an eropean market model (it has european charger).
yet, I read somewhere that some SAMOLED versions didn't have NFC available. Is this true?
Anyone knows which european markets got the Nexus S with SAMOLED display?
Thanks in advance
I got mine in the UK in December. It has AMOLED screen.
Also, this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1031760
The thing that's intriguing me is that the model is not the UK version.
It has a different EAN and according to Expansys, it has an EU plug, where the UK has a UK plug.
Anyone knows which european markets were contemplated with SAMOLED Nexus S?

Hi all,
As I'm located in Singapore, and I have imported my Nexus S off 3rd party retailer.
How do I know which nexus s I have? UK or the US one. Is there any serial number to distinguish?

the on from USA have SAMOLED display
from UK... you might get either SAMOLED (excellent) or SLCD (no good)
and supposedly there are radio changes too
also the AT&T version is expected as well
UK and US models are the same, both have SAMOLED screens.
All other countries are getting SLCD.
It seems that vodafone uk may have the slcd screen according to the vodafone website.
If it was boxed then it will have a 3pin charger uk or 2 pin for USA

Among the Nexus Ses across the world, you'd want to compare between the version with either SC-LCD or SAMOLED (or between the CDMA-network compatible or not).
If you can use the phone with 3G in Singapore, then you'd have the SAMOLED-GSM/HSPA network compatible version. SC-LCD was just released/leaked since a week ago.
It would help to look at the baseband version from Settings --> About Phone. The original SAMOLED-GSM/HSPA Nexus S would read I9020?????.
Sorry but isn't the charger in the box a decent indicator?

You won't really notice the difference in colour (and oversaturated colours aren't 'excellent' for everyone), but just open the app drawer. If you can't really tell the difference between the phone itself and the screen (because of the blacks), you have the Super AMOLED version. If the blacks are more grey, you have Super Clear LCD LCD.
Oh, and look at the build number. Is it i9020, you have Super AMOLED, is it i9023, you have Super Clear LCD.
I see,
I have a 2pin charger one. Does it mean I have the set from USA? Also, OTA release updates based on regions?

Should be US then because UK is 3pin. Also I think OTAs are by IMEI so shouldn't matter about region, anyone correct me if I am wrong though

Hello,
Is there a difference between the EU "Samsung Galaxy S II" and the UK "Samsung Galaxy S II".
I heard the EU does not have the Super AMOLED Plus displays, is this true?
Thanks
you tell us buddy.... most of us here having the phone at present got it from UK...
those from EU share ur openions.... i dont think there is much difference between UK & EU...
Yeah, I heard similar things. Not sure if the SLCD would be better as it consumes less power of course at the sacrifice of the superior brightness and colours of the SAMOLED.
SAMOLED everywhere ...
Its' only because the EU one is like 70€==100$ cheaper...

Since the uk is a subset of the eu, you wouldn't think so
EU version is the same as the UK version .
Eu version here, package says super amoled plus

I can confirm this, I got the dutch version and it is SAMOLED+ with 1.2 GHz Exynos
Shame it doesn't have NFC
yep, samoled+ here!
If it were true (LCD), 50% from the buyers would import it for sure!
Anyone know the country of origin of the GSII that Newegg.com is selling?
It doesn't look like it's Europe because in the product picture tour it has what looks to be a US travel charger. Other vendors that sell the GSII show European chargers with a US converter added.
Central, South American maybe?
Bump? Talked to Newegg in an email and they replied made in Korea....sigh.....
Sigh? You rather want one made in china? Remember samsung is in korea.
No, i wanted to know where they imported this phone from not where it was actually manufactured.
Get it from Expansys, they should be shipping UK phones now that supply is keeping up with demand. Tell them you want a UK phone when you place the order and you should be fine. If it ends up being something else, they're easy to work with for exchanges too. They'll also ship the phone back to the UK for you should you ever need warranty work whereas the newegg.com phone is sold without a warranty.
I bought mine from overseaselectronics.com and it came with U.S. samsung OEM charger and last but least it's made in china...but the quality of the phone is top notch, I don't think it's a knock offs....Oh...this version of the phone when you first power on the phone it's in different language as a default.
I just got my SG2 from newegg yesterday. I can't tell where it's from. I guess I'll have to do some more reading to find out what the differences are.

I bought mine from Amazon. It's from Claro carrier in Chile, but I flashed the European ROMs with XEU and they update just fine in KIES.
Thanks nraudigy2.
I did get mine from newegg.com and from what I can tell it's not from Korea.

Now to root.
as per title, anyone seen it either in Hong Kong, Singapore or even Vietnam (Where I'm currently living\working) ?
Expansys are showing it online with price for the 32gb version in Singapore, but no price in HK yet or for the 64gb version.
HK people have no idea what the One is, then tried to sell me the XZ and the Note 2.
Sent from something that's BETTER THAN YOURS
I did post this question at the end of another thread, as it looks like my trusty old Note 3 is definitely deceased now, but it would probably be better in its own thread.
I want to get an S10+ and quite like the idea of the ceramic black back cover (the 'pearlescent gloss' look of the regular black - actually, closer to greyish - version seems a bit tacky and could pick up marks easily) but I don't think the 128GB version comes in that finish in the UK?
I've found a Spanish site that is offering 128GB Ceramic Black (https://www.costomovil.es/moviles-y...samsung-galaxy-s10+-128gb-ceramic-black-libre) but I'm not sure of the variant that they would be selling - they state it's an SM-G975FZKDPHE. I'm assuming that any official European release version (I would be buying SIM-free unlocked) would be the same base hardware, and have the same range of cell-frequencies, so it ought to work just as well here in the UK as it would anywhere else in Europe. I could probably even install official BTU firmware via Odin anyway if I wanted to (I think some banking security features are regional, presumably based on the ROM?).
However if I buy now from Spain, and the UK does leave the EU soon (at the moment, who knows!) do you think Samsung will still honour their originally offered 2-year purchase warranty here in the UK (as they do now) based on the market conditions at the purchase date? If not, it seems the same sort of gamble as buying a grey import from Hong Kong/etc.

Isn't this simply a mistake on their website? My understanding is the ceramic s10 plus model comes in just two varients, 8gb ram/ 512gb storage or 12gb ram/1tb storage.

That's what I was wondering, but Samsung are releasing so many odd variants around the different markets at the moment it's hard to say (I think there's a blue-back version coming to one of the UK carriers for example).

Only one way to find out then....

That's what worries me... Not much I can do about it if it's wrong and it's come from overseas.
Andre
I ment get in contact with them, drop them an email?
I'm backing it's a mistake, the ceramic backs belonging to the two s10 plus premium models.

The site has made a mistake with the listing.
SM-G975FZKDPHE is the product code for the 128GB Prism Black standard model.
The Ceramic black one has a different product code:
SM-G975FCKGPHE (512 GB)
SM-G975FCKHPHE (1 TB)
You can flash the BTU ROM, insert a UK SIM card and do a factory reset. The phone will fully convert itself and will act as if it was bought in the UK.
You'll get all UK carrier and region specific features like VoLTE, WiFi Calling (both carrier dependent), Samsung Pay and so on.
Cell frequencies are the same across all Europe and Middle East since they all use the same variant (SM-G975F).
No clue about warranty though.
Actually, I think I may have found an even better fit for me - the upcoming Samsung A70 due out in a few weeks. https://news.samsung.com/uk/capture-connect-and-conquer-with-the-new-samsung-galaxy-a70
The A70 will still be a 128GB device, with an even bigger AMOLED screen than the S10+ (including embedded fingerprint sensor), bigger battery, SD Card, 3.5mm headphone jack... and no annoying curved display, a proper flat screen! OK, so it's 6GB RAM instead of 8GB, and I suspect the triple-camera won't be quite as good as the S10+, but then at less than 1/2 the price there are bound to be a few compromises (but hey, coming from a Note 3, it's still going to be a spectacularly better camera than the one I've been using).
