FioS remote app not working - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone. Does anyone have the Verizon FioS remote app installed on their phone, working? I cant get past the "name & four last 4 digits of phone number" screen. It errors out saying that the last four digits of mobile number provided do not match the ones provided. Long story short, in the about phone, it shows phone number, unknown. Does anyone know what file i can modify to populate the "phone number" field in the "about phone" section of phone, like build.prop? Im using Virtuous Unity 1.27

Phone Status wrong number

I just flashed to Cyanogen and my phone status screen is showing the wrong phone number. How do I change this? I had the number changed on my Evo a few weeks ago and the rep had me type some numbers into the dialer but I guess the settings dont stay after a flash.

No one knows how to change this at all?

First do a nan backup then flash a sense Rom, this is The only way the above codes will work, I think. I think you can change it in *#*3282#*#
You will need the msl number to edit it. Just call and ask sprint for it (I think its called msl)

There's also an app in the Market for MSL.

But when i try the same procedure on the My touch 4g , it doesnot work.
Am i missing something.
Any help will be appreciated. I am really desperate to get this working.
Thank you,

You guys do realize there's an app for this so you don't have to be typing secrets codes on your dial pad all the time. Its called phone info. Its in the market. Brings up the same settings.

Sorry I meant #*#*4636*#*# .. I can enter the phone info mode. My question is when i press the Enable QXDM sd log button, nothing happens.
Why doesn't it work.
Don't know, doesn't work on mine either, but what's QXDM log anyway?
Edit
The QXDM SD log is quite promising. QXDM is the Qualcomm eXtensible Diagnostic Monitor, which as far as I can tell can read this log to provide more detailed information about the performance of the radios

We had a thread posted about this a while back, but the OP needed to take it down.
Basically, the kernel needs to support it. Try it with the newer CM7 nightlies or rc4 I THINK they enabled it. If not, you'll need to build the cm kernel from source and enable it in the config.

Motorola Field Utils

So has anyone used this app since the 3.2 update? From what I can see, it has more capabilities to available then I seem to remember from before(though I could be wrong) and the sim slot can read sim cards now(at least it read my T-Mobile sim card). I did change my network in the settings to GSM/UTMS/EvDO/CDMA and in the phone information test area it now says GSM/CDMA Auto PRL just like my Nexus S does on T-Mobile, even after rebooting. Sadly I don't know if this even matters, or if all the changeable settings would allow the use of GSM. Nor do I know enough to attempt to make this work. Just thought I'd share my "findings", and if they are in fact useless I'm sorry for wasting peoples time.

hmm where would i get that app? sounds interesting!

Hold the volume up and down buttons as you turn the xoom on. You will see cold booting linux in the top left of the screen, followed by,more text like LTE off. Once the xoom is finished booting, in the app drawer there will be a Field Utils app with the Motorola logo. The codes will be 000000
I guess I'm really wondering if we can unlocked this device like we can phones.

using a wifi only model. the unit has the field utils app however the six zeroes (000000) do not work for the spc password.
Yeah i saw this in the app list but never knew what it was. Cant do anything with it and dont see the apk in the usual directories. Dont think wifi only version would be able to get the cell network working as type hardware for it should be missing. Maybe there is hardware somewhere and maybe some day there may be guide how to install it and get it working.

Read post #3 in this thread......
yes when i get into the radio part it runs tests and says "CANT FIND NONE" LOL.. however there is a screen test and program (or some such) test that the wifi unit could still benefit from..
would like to know the correct SPC to at least try the other tests...

increase nexus s 3g with evo hack EDIT MSL WORKS

Get your mal code cal sprint dial *#*#3282#*#* for nexus s only
Edit enter..code go to other multimedia and change proxy addresses to 0.0.0.0
Change all ports to "0"
Exit out try 3g worked on my.evo and my.nexus s 4g
Get msl by calling sprint..kindly say you need your msl code to reset your antenna keys have your dec ready found under battery
If you're rooted you can do this with AdFree Android as well.
What does "Get your mal code cal sprint" mean?

It's kind of like a password to your phone that sprint uses (not the best analogy, I know). You can use the sprint web chat to ask for it (and its msl code, his keyboard probably autocorrected it )

Yeah I work at sprint. I'm pretty sure the msl is just used to authenticate your phone in a shorter way (esn dec has like ten characters and the hex has less but it has letters). I use it to manually program phones to the network when it doesn't take over the air or if its just an older phone.I guess I would say its like a virtual Sim card.the network uses it to communicate with the phone

Ah. Apparently, it means "Get your MSL code. Call Sprint."
I certainly know what an MSL code is. There are easier ways to get it than to call Sprint.

I was able to find the MSL without calling or using the MSL app.
I did an alteration to the following instructions, and was able to retrieve it after a couple attempts.
http://androidforums.com/htc-hero-sprint/117401-guide-easy-way-get-msl-without-calling-sprint-using-cmda-workshop.html
I tweaked the instruction a little bit by presenting the msl input screen before returning to alogcat.
Instructions I used:
Fresh boot phone and await all apps/things (scripts, widgets, and misc) to load.
Launch alogcat
Clear out the log by pressing menu button and then select "clear"
Go to your dialer and enter ##DATA# or ##3282# which will bring up the DATA menu
Once the menu pops up just select "View" mode
At this point you will see a screen with 6 selections. Select "others".
Then select "work mode".
Attempt to input a random msl code. I used "000000". Of course it is incorrect. I then clicked cancel and then returned to the previous menu (work mode).
From here either press and hold the Home Key and select aLogcat if you ran it before, go to your tray and run Logcat.
After opening Logcat it will update, once it finishes press "Menu" and "Pause" the log.
Then scroll until you see a group of entries labeled "I/MSL_Checker" which should be green.
Locate the line that has "MSL result : " at the end of it (Or press Menu and Filter "MSL" )
And there you have it, your 6-digit MSL code without ever calling sprint or using a computer.

MSL (Master Subsidy Lock) code has nothing to do with activating a phone. MSL is a password that is needed to change settings in the EPST menu. These settings are password protected to protect an end user from changing settings that will cause the phone to not work correctly.

Having more problems...

Ok... So I have this phone on the newer software (4.53.651.1). My problem is, now I can't use Unrevoked to root this thing... I've been directed to Revolutionary.io which at first didn't seem like a bad idea... After a little digging I realized that I need my serial number and for the life of me, I can't find it. What this tells me is that if I can't find a serial number on this phone, maybe I shouldn't be playing with this Revolutionary tool. (Mind you, I'm not an idiot. I know what a serial # looks like. But there are too many numbers on this thing, and nothing labeled anything remotely resembling serial number.)
My question is, is there any way to "downgrade" my phone to an older model so I can get Unrevoked to work??? Or possibly some other suggestions. Any help is always appreciated. Thanks in advance
Serial number is under the battery it will start with HT and labeled S/N

I assumed this is where it would be... Unfortunately, my phone is refurbished... so they put some different sticker on top of it with the MEID HEX # and all that other stuff there so I don't wanna take it off...

+1 when you run the app, it'll load a command prompt. In the black screen you'll see a series of numbers. That's your serial.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
And if you open the command prompt before running revolutionary instead of letting revolutionary open it, you'll be able to copy/paste in the window. For some reason if revolutionary opens it, you can't copy/paste.
I hope that made sense, but yeah, revo will give you the SN once it finds your device. Copy it from the command prompt to get your beta key, then copy and paste the key. You'll have s-off a minute or two later. Refurbished phones don't have serial numbers under the battery for whatever reason.
Don't forget to finish the process by flashing a recovery of your choice and either flashing Superuser or a custom rom. Otherwise you'll just have a funky looking hboot with pink letters and s-off & nothing gained from it.
