Has anyone else experienced that sometimes on reboot Music Beta app REdownloads all the songs I have selected for offline play? It's almost like they are wiped when rebooted, and recached...which is annoying as hell. I thought at first that it was another music app(doubletwist) that was interfering...but I dont even have dt installed now...and I went back to completely bone stock ROM. Unrooted, and locked bootloader.

Seems without adding anything to my A7, in the past day it is literally non stop FC'ing on the above process. I hit Force Close and it keeps coming back (not immediately, more like randomly without 10-25 seconds). Only thing I've did extra n the tablet lately is play Angry Birds. Should I try to clear it's DB even though I haven't loaded it today? Also would like to state that I have rebooted and even shut down the tablet, and it still does it.
what have you done to it? stock firmware update? DexterMod? Stock fresh out of the box?

Guess in my first version of this thread, before I edited it, I had that information (morning brain fart).
DexterMod v1.3 + BT Fix
Worked fine yesterday morning then it started FCing out of the blue. I've begun (even though none of the apps were installed immediately prior to the FCs) uninstalling widgets that I installed. Next is to start on programs (I did however uninstall Button Savior as I know it loads on startup so I was thinking that was causing it even though it had been on the device for a couple days running flawlessly).
Got tired of messing with it. Did a Cache Partition Wipe and Device Wipe and it's back to normal DexterMod v1.3. This seems to have resolved the issue so it must have been something with one of the databases on the applications that I had installed. Will see once I reload all my apps.
Hey i just got my Nexus 7 a couple days ago and successfully rooted it at 4.2.1 stock android.
Ive installed only a couple of apps and everything seems to be working. Then one day i decided
to try Beats Audio Installer Pro for Root v1.2. I installed it successfully. After loading my equalizer in
the stock google play, it loaded many equaliser bars than the stock 5 and then i tried changing them to test it. Nothing changed
even when i toggled it on or off. Then i decided to uninstall it. It reboots and loads normally.
Now when i clicked on my equalizer settign in the stock google play, it says: 'MusicFX has stopped'.
I tried factory reset and got nothing. At stock rooted, its still comes up with 'MusicFX has stopped'.
Even tried installing other equalisers on the market and they all stop working since im sure
the stock MusicFX process is needed for them to work. I have nothing else to try.
Help would be nice or i might return the device back to stock unrooted and check for warranty or something.
Thanks.
Obviously reinstalling stock will fix it. Because I am also having same problem but i don't wanna install stock again just for equilizer because my previous settings for musicfx seems to be working till now. If you get solution without installing stock again then plz do tell me. I am also waiting here eagerly.
Still no luck. MusicFX is still not working on my phone but but but I installed ROCKET MUSIC PLAYER, It comes with own equilizer and it's working fine whereas equilizers of other music apps are not working.

Using root browser you can copy audio configuration in other rooted nexus7 and paste in your your system/etc and also copy soundFX and paste in your system/ lib soundfx folder and change the permission to rw.r.r and reboot your device..but remember u need to delete all the files inserted by beats..you find it in your system/lib,system/etc,and system/bin.
sorry about the wait
I had totally forgot about this thread since i left my tablet for a long time.
How i fixed it was just returning it to the original rom. It was the new rom indeed and beats not being compatible with my nexus 7. It seems Beats trys to take over musix fx and stops it from working. I just tried other roms instead without beats and everything was fine. Seems beats doesn't work some some devices.
Anyway atm, my nexus 7 is dead and posted prior to this one.
So I've had an oddity happen out of nowhere. My N7 running stock 4.2.2, TWRP recovery, rooted and unlocked bootloader has been randomly rebooting itself since last night. At first when it happened, I was watching a movie through MX player app. The video started stuttering and then froze. I then tapped the home button so that I could clear the app and relaunch, and it then rebooted. I then tried to watch my movie with the archos app, same thing happened and it rebooted. Today it rebooted a total of 4 times, of those 4, it was just laying untouched, or while I was doing a backup with Titanium Backup. I've done a factory reset and cleared both cache & dalvik, and still the issue persists. Another odd thing is after the factory reset, it tried to update my G+ app, and told me that the app isn't compatible with my device. Would a complete reflashing of stock through ADB fix it, or am I looking at a hardware issue. Just to note, the device has been running excellent since last night. Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thx in advance for the help!
Update: so I reflashed the ROM and went back to factory and wiped everything, and had one reboot, which happened when I launched the new G+ app, and nothing since then. I even watched my movie and a couple tv shows. I'm not sure what was causing it, but if anyone can chime in, it would be helpful. Oh and how long after a reboot is the last_kmsg file valid? I read that it should contain info on what caused the random reboots.
Ever since my OTA update two days ago, I've had nothing but serious issues with my N7. I was stock rooted before and regularly backed up my files. Since the update, my N7 has been horrendously slow. It takes forever for any of the app icons or widgets to load. I just re-rooted tonight and have been waiting now for 17 minutes, and still the pages haven't properly loaded; they're all still blank. When opening apps, it'll either be so slow that I get the message saying either to wait or just close it. Other times when trying to open apps, it'll just hang indefinitely. Swiftkey is pretty much unusable, it's so slow. Everything is just so frustratingly slow now. How can I fix this? Is anyone else having this problem? 4.3 has been nothing but a nightmare for me. It's made my N7 unusable.

Try booting recovery and clearing the cache. But I really don't know if that'll work.
Otherwise you can trying factory resetting and restoring from one of your backups.
If that still doesn't work you could download a stock 4.3 image and flash it. Then restore your backup.

try completely wipe your device, make sure you backup everything you need to the emulated /SDCARD and back that up onto your PC. Then do a fresh reinstall. Also check background apps, some malware might be the problem

Well there you go. I also made the mistake of relocking once upon a time.

So I backed up all my stuff through Titanium Backup to Dropbox and did a factory reset. After reinstalling everything, I reboot the device. Now it won't get past the colored X. What do I do now?
Hi all,
Been having some fairly major issues with this tablet recently. Sorry for the back story, but I'm unsure whether it's related or not...
I primarily use the tablet to watch videos on while I'm commuting from an external USB stick. Always used to be 100% fine, running AOKP ROM for around a year. In the last month or so, I would watch a video and it would work for a couple of minutes, then the video would freeze and the audio soon after. To fix it I'd have to close MX Player, and unplug/plug back in the USB stick. Then it would happen again.
I therefore copied files onto the internal storage, and didn't have problems with this (a 4GB video file would copy with no issues). Then watch from internal storage with no issues.
I decided to try a different ROM and see if it helped the USB OTG issues. This is where the real problems started. I changed to a different Android 4.4 ROM (Purity I think?), and had Google Play Store crashing soon after starting, if I tried to download an app. After the initial crash, I would continually get 'Google Play Store has stopped working' messages. Rebooting etc made no difference. I would also get the same issue if I tried downloading an APK through the built in browser (it crashes).
I have since tried about 5 different ROMs (Android 4.2, 4.4 and 5.0 based) flashed through TWRP 2.8.4.0, with different Gapps, each time performing full or partial wipes/factor resets.
I have also tried restoring to stock settings through NTK, flashing factory images of 4.2, 4.4 and 5.0 builds through the 'restore stock and unroot' option (whatever it is called). I have also re-locked and unlocked the bootloader again.
Basically, I don't know what else I can do. Every time I get into a new ROM, I complete the initial setup, I can't go into Google Play store without the app force closing. I can't think of what would be causing this if it's the same between a lot of different ROMs, with the same issue.
Does anyone have any ideas..?
Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you're using correct gapps versions? They're specific gapps packages for 4.2, 4.4 AND 5.0.
If you're sure of the above, then yes, I suggest you capture `adb logcat` output when Play Store is crashing. Then share the log with us.
Basically some of the components of play store are located in the system partition and most of custom roms don't come with gapps packages you need therefore to flash them after installing a new rom. PA provides very nice and up to date solution. PA gapps on Google.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I had flashed correct Gapps packages for each ROM when required, but was still having the issue.
Somehow, after many hours spread over the last week, last night I seem to have fixed it.
I had suspected that it was an issue with a corrupt partition, (or permissions, or something!) on the internal storage, as it was only when I tried to download something that the browser crashed, and Play Store would generally only start crashing after a first time browsing with it. Also sometimes from within Recovery I wouldn't be able to wipe data properly (it would complete almost instantly, sometimes not removing a previous ROM...). Sometimes it did seem to work properly though.
I can't pin down exactly what I did that fixed it though. I tried 2 things at once: I manually wiped each of /system, /cache, etc through fastboot in the bootloader, and I also (from adb in recovery) manually did mkdir /data and mkdir /data/media
I'm not sure which of these worked, but I flashed a ROM and Gapps (AOKP again), and I haven't had any crashing so far...
I'm afraid to flash any other ROMs as it seems to be working now, so I think I'll leave it!
Probably should have looked at the adb logcat output, but didn't think of that while I was still having the issue.
Thanks
