I accidently changed a folder name in registry/HKLM. I am using the latest stock rom 3.14. l need the folder name that contains the sub folder BootVars please. I'm afraid to turn off my phone. Thank you very much.
init?

Would you be able to check on your HD2?
Can't I'm on droid, but "hklm bootvars winmo" in google convinces me I'm right.

Sorry, maybe i found media.zip...
I try copy into device than i back here.
Sorry!

Not full understanding what your saying, but on most builds that were missing the media folder, simply create one on your sd card and your all set.

You must extract the zip. There will be a folder media.zip, copy this to your android folder. Start android and the folder will load
hi!
in order to test something, i need to replace the build.prop in root/system with a modified one. but trying to delete this file with astro manager displays an error message, and just copying the modified build.prop over the old one doesn't work too (nothing happens).
so my question is: how do you replace such a file?
thanks in advance for your help
are you serious!?!?!?
If the build.prop is located on the Android folder IT HAS TO BE A SYSTEM FILE !!!
if you mod the system files you could break android or the system just won't let you do it, you will need R and W privileges to do that.
edit the system files from your PC or just boot up in to windows mobile.
use some common scene next time.
hope it helps!

Do you use a cyanogen build?
yes and there is already a cyanogen rom posted with the proper build.prop fixed, so you won't have to edit anything, just search for it.

mmmh actually cyanogen made things easy to replace a system file, just copy your file into sdcard/android/root/system and reboot.
thanks for your help / posts. but unfortunately they're not helpful.
yes, i am serious! and yes, of course it's a system file. i know as well that modification might brick android.
there are reasons for modifying this file. some people seem to be able to, e.g. for chaning screen point density or modify the data passthrough.
so, please tell me, how can i edit/modify a system file from pc or windows mobile when its within the data.img-file?
thanks for any tips / hints on this.
use root explorer

Thank you VERY much for your help - I finally got it to work by listening your instructions. It is simply different if you have HD2 and plus CM mod. That figures why it was going back all the time to 180 instead of changing it - because it runs from sd card and that's where it needs to be replaced as well ...

Hi
Ive deleted the sense lockscreen apk from my rom (unlocks fine with vanilla lockscreen now)
but when phone rings whilst locked, the sense lockscreen still shows.
is there either an APK or some other file i can delete so the phone will show vanilla lockscreen when it rings?
thanks
Extract your ROM's com.resource.apk file from the system folder and inside you will find a folder named res. In that res folder search for anything that has "lock" in its name and replace those files with what you see fit (if you just delete them you may not be able to answer the phone ). The files i mentioned should be in /res/drawable-hpdi .

Nice work, soldier
Just what i needed to know
Worked a treat
Cheers
So what exactly did you replace the files with?
I would like to have the same done to my phone.
You can replace them with a lot of things. If you want a large choice, just get the files ffrom a Sense HD rom and pick from there, if not you can basically put anything you like in there as long as you keep the original names.
I can't seem to find the folder where skins are located. I have looked in the system/app folder and the slate one is in there. I just can't seem to find the ones that I downloaded like memories and Chinese new year. Any ideas?
I messed up Chinese new year and it says I downloaded it but it's not showing up in the list, so I would like to delete it and redownload it.
I am running a2sd if that has any bearing on the problem.
try /data/app/. the name should be com.htc.skin.___.apk
if you are using a file manager (like Root Explorer) you could use search function in system folder
Hey guys, I've been up since around 6 am working on this theme for the stock AOSP music app and I don't really care how it's applied as long as it is. So I've edited all the .png's but want to know how to apply them.. I tried zipping it back up and as stupid as this sounds, I can't get it out of a zip format. it just gets saved as Music.zip.apk. Any help would be appreciated!
Copy the original APK with a new name.
Open the new APK with 7zip or something like that.
Drop the edited files back to their folder (res/draw-hdpi or something like that). Allow overwriting the original files.
Sign the APK (using apkmanager, for example, if you think it's too complicated to set up the signing environment that allows doing it from right clicking the file).
Alright thanks man!
