Which is a best rom for zte blade? Is there anywhere an unbranded version?
I'd say Ginger Stir Fry is far the best rom for Blade at the moment, however you can give CyanogenMod a try, but if you consider yourself as an average user, then GSF might be the best rom for you.
Agreed

Sounds good. I previously had JJ and am now on SS, but am looking for a stable 2.3 based ROM. CyanogenMod still has some issues (the stable 7.0.3 release reboots when a USB charger is connected, to name one), though the nightly builds of 7.1 are better I hear. Think I'll give GSF a go if that is considered the most stable ROM right now - speed and stability are my primary concerns.
Guess the official guide is this one.
CM after N127 is excellent.

The main plus is the CM extras. It seems faster generally but scrolling isn't quite as smooth as GSF IMO. Battery life for me has improved as well since N127, it's probably not quite as good as GSF though however I think that's more to do with the .35 kernel GSF has. In regards to stability since 7.1 I've found it as stable as GSF.
Overall, I think they're both excellent in different ways. There is no 'better', it ultimately depends on what you want.
Thanks the feedback. I'm opting for stability, so I installed GSF. Very nice so far, I'll know more as I use it over the next few weeks.
Although I'm using GB Stir Fry, really missing CM and its extra settings. Actually the biggest and perhaps only advantage of GB, is its wifi driver. Even wbaw admitted, without it, he wouldn't even had considered to start developing the Stir Fry series.

Not having used CM, what are these extra settings? And for that matter, why can't the CM developer use the wifi driver used in GSF? Is it proprietary?

Probably because they haven't got the source for it.
Im trying Elitemovils rom right now but have been using CM7 for some time after a month of experimentation on other roms.
My initial comments are that its super smooth and everything works nicely.
He has even added a mod now to put power tools in the notification bar which looks very cool and is ofc super handy.
GSF works brilliantly for me and I'm hoping wbaw will be continuing to develop it here
Thanks guys, now I'm on CM 147. But there are some bugs: missing elements in some games, wifi doesn't come back on after the phone wakes up. But there are some workarounds

I currently have GSF Beta 15.
1)
Is there any reason to update to Beta 17?
Is the leaked kernel worth it?
2)
Are there still GPS problems in CM7 as it is working perfectely with GSF.

Hey,
I'm new to the nexus one scene. Just got one today Which MIUI rom would you all suggest?
Cheers,

I suggest the one on miuiadroid.com. I find the battery life to be better on it than miui.us. They are both good ROMs.

Pretty much, miuiandroid is like the standard, then u can find variations and improvements like QND MIUI or NXMIUI and its pretty much up to taste.

Miui.com (or the english site en.miui.com) rom will run english, but still has a good deal of chinese in it. Sometimes that can be a problem. Especially if you don't speak chinese or use the rom enough to know what you are changing
I have been flashing miui for some time and both MiuiAndroid and Miui.us roms for months. Some weeks one might seem more stable than the other, but for the most part both are very solid builds and you won't go wrong with either. If you have problems, there are forums on both of the sites. There is a thread here on the developer forum for miui.us. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117708
I use QND's MIUI 1.7.17, with A2SD support (useful to offload data to my SD card). I have avoided the 1.8.x branch as it integrates Android 2.3.5, and thus introducing a nasty Wi-fi connection drop issue that doesn't seem to want to go away. I don't know if the kernel guys have fixed this yet, but as I am happy with the version I am using now, I'm going to sit still until I read otherwise.
I am using MIUI-NX D2EXT X-Part very stable.

It isn't a kernel bug, it is a CM issue with the merging of 2.3.5 and some prior commits to fix the wifi in previous builds. From my understanding, the bug was fixed in tonight's nightly, which means it should follow into MIUI soon (however long it takes for them to incorporate changes that happen with CM).
miui.us has been very stable for me the last two versions
@bass
So, MIUI is tied somewhat to CM7--I know they use the kernel
But, there was an argument awhile back that said no tie in at all
I didn't think that was true--
Sorry for changing subject--

My understanding is MIUI uses the CM source tree similar to the way CM uses AOSP. They take the CM code as a base and then make the changes they want for MIUI. So some of the problems that are in CM will carry over to MIUI.
Thanks bass
That's sounds like the info put forth to support the MIUI/CM7 relationship
Hi all!
I made this thread so it will be clear which ICS rom is the fastest at the moment.
Roms included in poll:
Kwiboo's ICS v3
Cyanogenmod 9 Alpha 12
NexusBeam HD (latest version)
(ICS) Android 4.0 by eugene373
Cyanogenmod 9 Kangs (latest)
NexusMV 2.xx.xx
If you vote for a rom, please use the latest version of it. .. Dont forget to vote peepzz!
I haven't tried eugene's rom, but the Nexus Beam has been the fastest and most stable of the rest. Still, I hear good things about eugene's rom, so maybe I'll try it. But nothing beats GB... Yet..

So far... Eugenes
Kang Kang Kang a Gong get it on.....
Asop v26 for ns4g
Follow the leader @corythug
So far it'd be Beam 2.xxx.xxx, fast stable and smooth as baby's bum!
looks like cm9 kangs are ahead so far.

Honestly, though, how many people are fit to vote? How can you judge which is the most reliable if you haven't tried all of them?
More of a poll of which ROM everyone is on, as opposed to which is the most reliable.
Just a thought...
So as far as the NS4G, I think that CM9 KANGS has smoothest UI experienced the least lag if any but AOSP's rom definitely has faster 3g
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
I've tried all of them except Eugene's. The kangs were the fastest until I tried out Drew Garens beta 2. IMO that is the fastest right now although all of the roms lag in comparison to gingerbread. I am starting to get jealous of the speed of my girlfriends stock Nexus S....
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
Kiwiboo v3 is the best for me. Honestly no issues (i.e. Wifi, keyboard, market, calendar apps all work out of the box.)
Whenever I read a kang thread there is someone having issues, NexusBeam HD some aren't able to download apps from the Market etc.
Kiwiboo takes it for having a working ICS port with no hassle.

that was just a statement of observation, since i opened this thread the first time.
but, if you want to go there, how do you judge fastest when every user has their own experience. the same with reliability. we all look for these roms to fullfill our individual needs, and our individual needs all differ. so, i can probably say, these roms are all fast and reliable, or they wouldnt be on this list

I agree CM9 Kangs are definitely the ones to favor and will outright win this poll because:
1. It has CM on it.
People will blindly believe these are the best ones without trying others.
ZOMG CyanogenMod!!! *crackflashes*
2. It's the most frequently updated.
People always believe the latest ROMs will be better than previous ones. (See NexusBeam HD and now Android 4.0 from Eugene.)
New ROM ... need to fill crackflashing addiction ...
I cant decide between nexusbeam hd and latest kang.. i runned both.. but kang is better cuz it has all the apps. Im waiting on nexusbeam 2.2 update.. then i can compare with latest kang

Sorry, I didn't mean to be calling you out, but just talking about the poll in general.
I'm sure all the ROMs are great, just YMMV for any of them!

This is true, I feel. I was trying different ROMs at first, but I've noticed I've stuck with CM9 kangs, and I'm REALLY sticking to em now since I flashed today's kang + morfic's SEUV 13b ICS kernel. The speed boost I got today was amazing. With the underclock, it's faster than the early roms were when overclocked.
This is, in reality, going to be a poll about how many people use each rom.

im still skeptical about moving on to ICS for the vibrant just bc i need a phone that works 100% correctly all the time... so im still on froyo.

along with the miui camera, s.gps2 for gps fix, setcpu, and bln
is anyone else flashing any additional necessary files when they flash their roms??

Fishman is good. My needs are different. I need a Rom that is atleast 2.2.1. So the capacitive buttons dont blind me on each screen press. I'd recommend ultimate rom or biwinning with the sense or sgs2 theme. I also use Bali undervolt kernel. If you haven't already test out the modems for your area. For instance for me its KB1.

CM9's 16B is so functional that I put it on my Dad's phone, and he says it's running much better than it did before on Bionix. The only issue he and I have been having is the GPS, which never has worked from the beginning for us anyways, and very minor things (like the menu for toggle widgets is called lockscreens or something).
ICS is pretty awesome. You may want to give it a shot... I recommend the Icy Glitch kernel to go with CM9.

when you say never worked, do you mean it as GPS ideally should? or even to the low standards of how the vibrant's GPS is supposed to work?
personally since everything works 100% as best as it possibly can right now on my vibrant with bionix fishman mod without a hardware gps fix, i'm very reluctant to move onto ICS if the GPS wont even lock within around 30 secs or so like i can get it to do with froyo especially if it is something i need eventually
minor things like menu names i can definitely deal with, but if froyo's GPS works better overall compared to an ICS rom, i see absolutely no reason to make the switch with this phone. if i need ICS that badly, i will get a new phone

Try out CM9.
It's pretty popping fresh.
Also, MIUI.
And in the future, we discourage best ROM threads.
Depends on how you use your phone. CM9 beta 0 is stable for a daily ROM. But If your a power user like on your phone nonstop then you will find yourself wanting a charger.
Also gotta ask the question to you want to move to the MTD side.... best bet is to read up on everything, then test out different roms till you find one that you like.
Sent from a CM9 powered Epic.
If you want a good stable Rom the marcusant rom version3 and the shake and bake theme are a nice combo. Also cm9 is also kinda nice but its still in beta
Threads are long because everyone is trying to butt hurt everyone else, and there are a lot of useless postings (such as this one). Just be sure whatever rom you use has the appropriate thanks, documentation and GPL reference or you will get blasted even as just a user.
Just try them all, go nuts, have fun! Just be sure to do whatever you can to brick your device so you can provide yourself with the logical reasoning to upgrade as quickly as possible.
Sent from my, is it safe to claim, personally semi-tweaked (but not shared) and still therefore kanged??? sammiEpic running some CM9b0 shiznizzle.....
Thanks to all that offered good advise and options.
And to clarify a few points:
1 - I did not ask what was the best ROM (I know better than that).
2 - I respect the advise of the users here and do not wish to try them all. It simply takes too much time when all the ROMs say to wipe everything clean including data. It's a very long process putting everything back the way it was. The last 2 updates I did did not update my programs so I had to install them all manually plus their data. And as some of you may know, restoring from backup is not always a good thing to do.
So... I really appreciate those that provided a few options for me to try. Will do soon. And btw I alway provide feedback to the thread on the ROMs that I try. Comes from being a technology administrator for many years.
Thanks again,

In order for someone to answer this you have to let people know how you use your phone. Are you hooled on the Touchwiz interface? Then it would require some work and getting similiar apps for CM7, CM9 or any other AOSP ROM. If you just want to update to the newer firmware and like how your phone is running now, then Sleeper or CleanGB. If you need more app space then you want to go to an MTD ROM like CleanGB MTD. At least read the OP's of any ROM you are considering to know all the features.

CM9 ICS
I've been using CM9 ICS since alpha 2 and I had to Odin my phone back to stock for some weird reason. It was so strange seeing the stock interface after using ICS. "I can't swipe notifications away? What is this vertical scrolling? Bloatware???" So yeah, beta 0 seems good enough for me for now, plus the battery life is way better than stock.
CM9 for sure. The only real issue was the phantom voicemail but there is a fix for it now (as of today).

Exactly what the thread title says...
As most of you should already be aware I have a gingerbread build that I try to provide something close to a monthly update on (plus or minus a few days). What I would like to know tonight is if y'all would like something similar with ICS?
Just like the gingerbread builds this won't have a lot of progression and I won't be trying to really create anything so much as compile y'all something (hopefully stable) to use if you so choose.
Assuming the answer to the first question is yes, do y'all have a preference for the build (cm9, aokp, etc)?
A release candidate of CM9 would be nice or if there's an ICS rom of ParanoidAndroid, then that would be great as well, I like having proper tablet UI for apps.

the sg7 enhancement, linaro, supercharge, oc'ed kernal

Base it on the least flashy ROM. I want to change, and add in things as I see fit, and I want the most basic version of android to do it from. I want it the fastest it can go, so all the enhancements and nothing else added in.
You can port sense rom to our Kindle???
All of the roms I have tried have these really annoying bugs. In the ROM I have now, the WIFI keeps dropping, even when i'm in the middle of a download.
If you guys can make a simple, stable ROM without all the bells and whistles (swipe left, themes, etc), that would make me (and a lot of other people) very happy.

I haven't experienced any of those issues but one thing I can point out is wifi issues are most likely kernel related; I'm most definitely not a kernel dev so anything I do will have something close to hashcodes current kernel (assuming it won't work as is)
Hi Sblood,
Funny, I was just thinking about this today, wondering if anybody that's capable is willing to take the time to do this. While I'm pretty much satisified with my JB rom, I really like ICS and I was very happy with twa_priv's CM9 builds.
I watch a lot of video from CNN and that's flash, the JB roms are finally giving me pretty good performance with this but I also like to watch video from ESPN and I haven't figured out a way to get that to work. With ICS, it prompts you to choose a player to watch the videos, like MX Player or Dice Player, with JB, it just tells me that the content is unavailable. That's probably the biggest thing I miss from ICS. I still keep a nandroid of twa's last CM9 release under a different gmail address and update any apps from Play Store every couple of weeks and then I OD on ESPN vids & Flash stuff, tonight I had 17 apps to update. LOL
For me, it's a tradeoff of JB Google Now for ICS ESPN vids and I'd rather have ESPN videos. So, if you could use twa's CM9 build as a base and hook in Hashcode's newer kernels, say on a monthly basis, that would be awesome & most appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike T

Sorry I've been busy and interest actually seemed much lower than I would have expected so it's been a somewhat lower priority.
I would still love to get it done (if for no other reason than we don't really have a stable/buildable version of ICS) but as it stands I've been having a few issues getting the ICS device repo updated to use the current kernel but I have been trying at least some.
I have to remind you it's the holiday season as well.
A good, stable, release candidate ICS ROM? I can see the appeal. I'd definitely give it a whirl. I'm starting to get tired of instability on a lot of ROMs.

Well I suggest you put in the work to correct them

You mean report bugs and stuff? Well, they wouldn't exactly be called bugs, more instability. For example, the android browser self closing itself every now and then.

That's a joke right; it's been 5 days since you asked this previously, it's still the holiday season and I haven't said anything in regards to something working so it must be I'm just not sure I get the humor in it...
Admittedly I probably shouldn't have created this thread til I had made some more progress but the goal was to find out if people were even interested in ICS in the first place. As I have stated this is still on my project list but let's be serious for a moment; how high of a priority do you really think back tracking to a previous version is? (I'll give you a clue: it's not).
I can tell you this; syncing cm9 and the old Kfire-Android local manifest for it doesn't build (and that's with the old kernel branch), it's not as simple as sync a bunch of folders and compile; I have to actually dig into the code of several repos to sort this out.
Lastly consider that my primary role is as a recovery dev; you know the term 'the plate is full', well I have a platter over here...
Not directly related but on the subject of recovery development; this is where most of my time has gone as of late.
I'd like to see an updated ICS but if it doesn't happen......oh well......I'll wait
.....when you hit the walls of sanity, you have no-where to go.....
Yea I'll wait too. And it was a joke. :c
How about a ROM with similar battery life as the stock Amazon one? Every custom ICS or JB ROM I have tried has not been awesome for battery life. Especially in sleep mode.
I'd like to see a honeycomb ROM that wold be pretty neat
