That's because, if your signature is to be believed, you're running a US rom on your Xoom, and that has a different UAString to the stock UK image.
I've been trying to find someone on the boards who has the stock UK image who'll share the UAString - but either everyone is already on the US image, or they're not willing to share.
Shame

I've got a stock 3.01 UK wifi.
How can I help?

Visit somewhere like whatsmyuseragent.com on your Xoom, and post back with the entire User Agent String it tells you.
(Note, because this panicked someone else I asked earlier, we do not want or need your IP address, which the site also tells you!)

Running stock except for root.
my User agent string is:
Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 3.0.1; en-gb; MZ601 Build/H.6.1-38-1) AppleWebKit/534.13 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Safari/534.13
HTH

Yep - got the same string off a friend, and can confirm that works on the promotions site.
Use something like the firefox extension "User Agent Switcher" to let your desktop pretend to be your Xoom, and away you go.

same here - i got mine on day one - is it worth even trying to get the free keyboard?
what grinds on me more is I just bought the UK keyboard (which runs as a US language) for £50 too

I just posted in the other thread, I had my xoom on pre order from march. filled in the form using FF browser with modified string. Didn't realize there was purchase conditions on it until I had submitted.
I took a picture of my PDF pre order receipt and submitted it, Had an email the next day, yesterday to say it had been dispatched.
I missed the delivery today but am picking it up from the local depot tomorrow, so yea, ignore what it says and apply anyway

Just filled it out with ua switcher, hope I get it using the wife's Bluetooth keyboard for a Mac.

I don't have my packaging so where am I supposed to find the serial number?
I can't see anything in the tablet info beginning with "M0" as the site suggests.

I tried that but it just has my IMEI printed in there which isn't valid. How fantastic of Motorola not to bother to put it on the device itself.

Readers Hub...finally!

Opened up the Readers Hub today, just to check if it was working yet, and was welcomed by two little green 'install' buttons on both the magazines and newspapers option. These buttons open up a Samsung modified app installer, and now...it's all working.
This is in Switzerland, running an unbranded unlocked 16GB SGT on Swisscom Liberty Grande contract.
EDIT: Ok, my excitement is growing less by the minute. While it works nicely, it seems there's no free content, neither in Newspapers nor in Zinio. Even the free papers that you can pick up at every bus stop around here (20Minuten) want to charge you. Not interested in paying for news when I can just use the the browser to read the online version for free.
EDIT 2: Right, it seems when you go through the Zinio website there's an option to search for free issues, and there's quite a few good ones there. No such option on PressDisplay however.
hm, still waitin...buy the way tnx for report
Just checked mine here in the UK and was greeted with the install buttons
Thanks for the heads up.
Sent from my GT-P1000
Just showed up for me today in Australia too.
Installed and bought a few issues through Zinio already.
Running well so far except for one of my subscriptions having problems downloading.
Got to laugh, daily star which costs around 35 pence or maybe less for a hard copy is costing 99 pence per issue. Not tempted to go digital at that price, just going to do the usual and fire up the car on a morning and buy it

Not working in the US t-mobile version. Bummer. Looking forward to zinio.
Please post a link to working aol if available.

Zinio is great value, as a UK magazine reader being able to subscribe to US versions of magazines for around $10 for a years subscription is superb value to me! (They look great on my iPad, hoping they look just as good on my RoadWarrior SGT!)
With PressReader, if you have an online subscription to The Times (about £9 a month) you can download the Daily and Sunday editions (+All the extra magazines), perfect for my commute!
The readers hub was a huge deciding factor for me in buying a SGT, Im looking forward to trying it out once I get home today!
i have the tmobile tab and i don't even see the readers hub app. How can I get it?
too bad zinio is mostly usless for non-english ppl. I don't get why we get kobo and zinio but no media hub in europe.

Also in the UK. Works fine
PS: free samples can be added to your Zinio account via the web interface. Then use the app to read the content.
Note: By the way, my Galaxy Tab is flashed with the latest P1000XWJK1 firmware (November 2010). I don't think this would make a difference, as the Samsung App Market functions normally (I see 2 apps in there).
WTH? So I just lost access to my FHM subscription on the galaxy tab. Even the issue that I had downloaded earlier today had magically vanished.
Can't even see similar magazines through the tab any more.
I hope this is isn't some kind of iPad compatibility issue... What with it being two competing devices with different philosophical views on censorship.
can someone post the zinio apk. in my hub, i installed the kobo one
Here in Finland in Tab there is Readers hub with PressDisplay, Kobo and Zinio.
PressDisplay gave some freebies.
In Kobo there is about 200 free books to choose.
Zinio, no freebies.
About PressDisplay; the biggest newspaper in Finland, Helsingin Sanomat is missing, only 11 smaller ones available. And yes, those free trainstation-takeaway-b****-publications cost also 0,99€ -no thanks.
First I was exited, but not any more. Newsroom is still my killer app.
Greediness kills a lot good ideas.
PressDisplay and Zinio now online in the Philippines. Finally!!!!

You will need the .apk files for those programs.
If the generous international users can dump their .apk files for us Americans, it would be greatly appreaciated. Sharing is caring.

Books section in Android Market app ?

I just started the market app on my TF and in the title bar next to where is says Android Apps there was a new tab that said "Books".
I tried clicking on it and the Market immediately force closed and now the tab no longer shows.
I've never seen this before. Anyon else seen it ?
I had heard Google were planning to add books, music and movies to the android market.

That's been there from day one, you just never noticed it. I'm already on my 4th eBook purchased from Google. Tried the Nook and Kindle apps, but decided I preferred Google's one, and haven't looked back.
A) no it hasn't
B) it's not there now
C) I think it may only be available in US

Your tablet may have falsely decided you were in the US. Unknown.
Regardless, I for one prefer the Kindle app... Mainly because my (now dead) Kindle's library remains. Haha.

My apologies. I missed the honking great Union Jack to the left of your post. ;-)
I'm actually a Brit myself (albeit living in the US), and now I think about it, I believe my brother told me Google's eBook service isn't yet available there yet.
Maybe you caught them doing a dry-run, or maybe their server erroneously thought your tablet belonged to the US market.

3.2 finally arrives in the UK

Not sure why it takes three months to get the UK update to 3.2 after the US, but it finally arrived on my MZ604 today... perhaps it's translating from American to English

With films now in the market and a slightly prettier Google+ update, tonight's been pretty good
The keyboard lag seems better I've noticed while typing this out
Has anyone on a MZ601 received the 3.2 update?
I wonder if this will fix the Tiamat 2.2.2 market issue of missing apps?
What build is this?
Can somebody get the link or the zip file for the update please?
I am on a US 3.2 but might have to switch back for this.
There's one good thing about this update, quickoffice HD
considered wiping my xoom and setting it back to the UK 3.2 image - but then thought if i stick it out on the US 3.2 image then i'll probably get ICS 3 months quicker than the UK...

iv just got my update aswell let see after the download if all the bugs iiv found are fixednstill contemplating to root it :/ my sgs22 is but might wait till I get board lol
Is this update 66.0.23.en.EU that we're talking about here?
I've got the option to update to this but my MZ604 is rooted using the any update/any version method so dunno if its wise to update or not.
Can anyone clarify if I can apply this update and still be rooted or will it break stuff?
Cheers.
Why on earth do the 3G's (who paid more for their devices too!) get the updates after the standard Xooms? It's a ridiculous situation - it's not as if Moto don't know the difference between the two and can't create the update for both at the same time! GRRRR
Wen will 3g get it? I might just sell up and get xoom two next month

Honestly? Xoom = fail
I don't get upgrades on time and most of uk banks charge for all market purchases (£1.25 on top for overseas transactions) - not like there is anything interesting to look for anyway (most of apps look and operate like s..t).
I wanted to buy something else then Apple and I ended up with clunky, laggy, buggy, overpriced (£570) prototype of a tablet. Now value dropped 50% and all truth came out - it's just ipad-wannabe.
(also I barely managed to write down this rant because of stupid keyboard lag...).
ICS? I'm tired of waiting. Google can't even release one simple upgrade on time... I'll wait for iPad 3 instead and I promise you that - I will have it before ICS upgrade. At least Apple is always on time with their stuff.
I know this is for the UK 3.2 but it's looking good for AUS - I really hope this resolves the Tiamat market issue!
Just in from Motorola Australia facebook page
"Hi guys, we know you're all eager to download the latest 3G Xoom 3.2 software for 3G devices. We wanted to provide you with another update on timings. Approvals are still in progress and we hope to be able to push the upgrade within the next week. We appreciate your patience."

I wouldn't be in a rush for 3.2 if I were you - I recieved it over the weekend and lost the ability to write to the SDCard again! It was there in 3.1, gone in 3.2 - SDCard is back to read-only, unless you connect via a PC.
Sure, you get an Office app, and some printing utility etc, but going back to read-only SD cards is a major backward step for me!
updated yesterday and then rooted using the 'any xoom any update' in the developement forum. Everything ok

Something Strange Has Happened To My GED WiFi Xoom

For some odd reason I can NOW Move, Delete, Copy, Paste etc. etc. on my SD Card from SDCARDXD. I did NOT sign up for the ICS update. I am NOT Rooted & I am still running Stock. I have NO idea what has happened. Does anyone know what may have happened. I DON'T have EOS ICS. Nothing has changed since the day I bought my GED WiFi Xoom (Day 1).
Right now I am using SDCARDXD and moving Movies from the MNT/External1 Folder to MNT/SDCard/Movies, then Deleting the Movies from External1 I can't believe it. It is Amazing. I have NOT used my Xoom in about a Month because I could NOT do these functions without the use of my PC. I wanted to do it Internally and I decided to pick up my Xoom today and started to play with it and I can do what I could NOT do a Month ago. I am just wondering what HAPPENED?
All I'm going to say is...great! I'm really glad it's working for you, and better late than never!
All I EVER wanted from my GED Xoom was to be able to work on my SD Card Internally WITHOUT Root. That's why I got a GED Pure Android Device
Thanks Bro.

If you wouldn't have been so busy ranting about how terrible the Xoom is, maybe you would have seen this app months ago when gmanapps released it. It was the talk of the town on the Motorola users forum.
As gmanapps has said many times, the API calls are there, but developers are not using them. So he made use of them and wrote the app.
It must suck to not be able to see the forest for the trees.

It looks like it would work for you, but it's a paid app. Are you on HC 3.2.1? The level of update seems to be required for non-US Xoom.
Good luck.
Weird, market search on xoom doesn't find it. Market search on laptop finds it, lets me by it and loads it on xoom

You know what, you TALK ALOT OF **** and ASSUME wayyyyy too much. I bought GmanApps (SDCARDXD) the day it was released for $1.49. I remember when he released that App and I bought it day 1. I also commented on Nov 7th under (Ghodzilla5150 or BigFame) OH SNAP, LOL At that time he had not put in Delete Mode yet or Move & Paste. He also wrote a long synopsis on why he thought GED was holding BACK US Xoom's and how he thought ICS was NOT going to HELP with the SD Card issue.
Instead of stalking ME, maybe YOU should read the Moto Forum's a little more. He talked about this BEFORE they changed the Forum format. He did NOT want to post his beliefs believing he would get Banned because that's what they do on the Moto Forums. Ban anyone who Negatively speaks ill about their Precious GED Xoom.
It must SUCK when you ASS U ME, you know me and what I have done.

I just got the 7inch one, and it look brand new in the box shrink-wrap. But when I open the Silk browser, it automatically sent me to amazon. The weird thing is, when I check the Most Visited tab, it show me Amazon, Bing, Facebook, Yahoo and Wikipedia. I'm confused. I haven't gone anywhere except for Amazon by default. Did people at amazon use the device before they ship them out?
mine came that way to, most likely it was tested at the factory for quality control... just like a new car, they never came with zero miles on the odometer, they do get test driven a little.

No, your tablet was not used previously. They always come with those. It's Amazon guessing at what most people like and putting it in "Most Visited". That has happened on all of the previous Kindle Fires.
