Has anyone got the OTA that is supposed to be released today or tried *#*#checkin#*#* for the update?
I wonder if Google is going to release an OTA for both GRJ06D and GRJ22, or just GRJ22.

Thought GRJ22 was already released? Pardon me, I don't keep up with build versions.

What he is referring to is if the OTA will be pushed to both GRJ06 (original build) and GRJ22 (first update). I would imagine it would go to both, starting with GRJ22 first and then pushed to any straglers left on 06...
just tried the checkin code. no update

It was said only 5% will get it today. But jeezo, you'd think it would be out by now. Maybe the ones getting it 1st, don't know they have it yet.

Yeah I was also checking in to see if anyone had received the update but I guess not. I'm pretty sure to update you have to have the option under setting>about phone>system-updates which I do not have running Cyanogen. Also if you were to do the update you will probably loose root is my guess.
im currently unrooted and have not seen anything yet... will post if something hits
Loaded up factory images checked in succeeded, no updates as of yet.
If 5% of the 4G users get the patch today that's hardly a noticable amount, guess we'll have to wait for another day or two before more reports come in.
If you notice, when updating prl, data stays intact. As before it always cut off

About 8:45AM EST, my phone, for the second time this month, did a little update. I let it go through the process since the last one went well. Nothing really happened. It asked me to restart, I did, then it just booted back up.
Did anyone else get this? Also, does anyone know what it did? I still have 2.1-update1 so eh?
Thanks!

Second update here as well. I ran the (soft brick-inducing) update a week or so ago too.
Today: un-rooted, let it do its thing. Took like 2 minutes tops.
Baseband version still listed as JI2 (though to be honest, I don't know how it got to that in the first place. as far as I knew, I had been running JFD all along).

IDK tho. When I get these updates, nothing seems to happen. The phone reboots, says SAMSUNG GALAXY VIBRANT, reboots again, and then loads up.
I never seems to notice any changes or performance. Plus, my GPS still blows.
Not sure. Could always wipe And manually install Ji6 And see What happens? If you want to. Havent seen anyone else on other forums say anything about an update after JI6.

I say just use Kies Mini if you want the update and cant wait. I thought I could wait but couldnt and I didnt feel like messing with Odin (yet). Grabbed Kies Mini, connected the phone after backing up everything and I didnt remove root. Phone updated fine and I lost root but not data, no bricking, no nothing. Re-Rooted and have no complaints about JI6 except the MediaHub related processes you have to kill. just to add to the topic, a couple days ago, the device management icon popped up in my notification bar and when i pulled down the notification tab it stated it was trying to connect to the DM sever. The same thing that happened when I followed the instructions in the "how to Force the OTA update" thread.

Yep, it's too bad they fixed it. I was in store yesterday showing off CM7 to my friend who is the manager and he was very impressed by the way....any how he asked me if I was having any problems with my Fascinate, I said no, it's great.
He said " aren't you having an issue, wink wink" I said yeah maybe, why is it discontinued so they are replacing with a new model.....he said yes, the Charge or several other models....he then began to punch keys on his computer and said oh nope they canceled the deal because the OTA fixes the calling issue. He said the offer went for about a week before the update came out. It is supposed to fix the issue where you get a voicemail but never an incoming call... hell I thought it was a network issue, not a device issue. Oh well, updated to the new ED04 then installed JTs CM7

While I'm not having a missed call issue, I am having a problem with Data going on and off and random and doesn't matter where I am at. I can drive around a 30 mile radius and it still seems to be a problem.
Here is something I thought I would pass along. I called verizon this morning and just told them that I have calls that were going straight to voicemail without the phone ringing and without getting a missed call message. I told them that I did a factory reset and that did not fix the problem. They then gave me the option to switch to the charge, incredible 2 or the droid x. I didn't have to do anything else and now will be rocking 4g on the charge!
Now I feel like getting this update to see if I get that straight to voicemail problem. I want the Charge, damn it. >.< haha

I would have taken the Droid X so I could be rocking a full Gingerbread. I've seen the Inc2 in the store and reception is worse than the SF.

well in past one and a half month of getting my vzn fsc , i have tried practically all Roms available and all the radios , and really
this freakin no missed call ( yet bloody missed ) is killing me ,
sometimes i have flashed my phone like 10 times in a row on any given day to just find a combo having no missed calls thingy , better battery and better voice and data ,
ultimately gonna go back to DL09
but i sincerely think neither vzn nor sprint is gonna be able to fix this missed call thing in the cdma version of android os , its the mess created by google , they are just not able to fix it and they are hiding it .
Its was never a network issue its there in the OS.

Yes they are currently being drip fed via OTA from Google. You either have to wait your turn, or manually install it.
It happens when it happens, be patient. I rarely ever wait for OTA updates and just get them manually, I've already installed and reinstalled this 4.2.2 like 5 times now on my N7 without issues.

Well, considering what I have installed was downloaded from Google's website I would say "Yep, it most certainly is."
It's the same exact file - someone that got the actual OTA update went back and looked at the log file made during the update and pulled the URL the actual archive came from (and the filename, obviously) and that is the file that a lot of us have manually installed.
So yes, it's exactly the same file.
In time we'll see a full 4.2.2 factory image and when that appears I'll most likely redo my N7 with that just because that's the kind of stuff I do sometimes.

4.1.2 to 4.2.2 - is it worth it?
Hi Forum friends.
I live in New Delhi, India & got my N7 from the US in Jan.
It came with 4.1.2; very soon it d/l the 4.2.1 OTA update & till now I've fobbed off the nagging reminders to install it, seeing all the issues that came with the update.
This morning when I turned the N7 on, I got the notification that the 4.2.2 update had been d/l & was prompted to install it.
My N7 is as it came - stock, unrooted- I understand being the lingo of the gurus in this area.
I am an old guy with no ambition to modify my N7; I just want to use it for what gives me pleasure- read/watch/acquire knowledge/communicate etc.
The only mod, if you can call it that, has been to d/l the NMI & watch movies off a pen drive, w/o going thru the bother of loading/deleting stuff via the USB cable; while on the subject, can anyone enlighten me why MX player won't read the srt file off the OTG/pendrive when it can do so when I transfer the folder containing the movie+ the srt file onto the tab via the usb cable? TIA
Qn - Am I better off with 4.1.2 or will 4.2.2 bring improvements w/o bestowing problems like 4.2.1 did - or is it too early to tell?
TIA & A Very Good Day to all.
Finally got the update over the air. I don't see much of as difference.

Hi, lucky you! I'm still waiting for 4.2.2 OTA.
Actually I've got zero problem with 4.2.1 so far and therefore can't comment on the issues people tell of. So 4.2.1 is for me perfectly fine. However just because there is an update I can't stop thinking when does it come to my device

I think almost all of the people are already on 4.2.2. If you can't wait, just sideload the update.
Why is that the downloadable updater's files are dated May 3, 2012? The same was true of the last update. Why wouldn't Google let the timestamps be whatever they were when they were went gold or were last updated? It's disconcerting to update with files dated 10 months ago for a brand new release.

I think the time stamp refers to JB in general and since 4.2.2 is still JB the stamp hasn't changed and will probly change when KLP is released, but this is only my theory.

No need to unroot. You'll get the OTA even when rooted. It just doesn't seem like anyone has actually gotten the OTA yet. Keep checking your tablet, but you're probably better off checking here for someone to post the download link once they get it.

You know that you can flash a factory download without losing data, right? Android Police did a writeup if you want the full details, but the short and sweet version is download the .tar, extract the contents, and then just run fastboot flash boot boot.img, reboot, fastboot flash system system.img, and you're basically done.

Won't that wipe your Google account from the device?

No, you'll just get a popup later asking if you want to allow Google's location services to access your data.

Well I tried it and it didn't work. I still don't see an update but I think that might be because they maybe didn't send them out yet.anyways when I checked for update it said last checked 1/1/1970 lol. They've been hiding the tablets from us and they've been made since 40 years ago (I'm just joking just so nobody thinks I'm an idiot)

Even if they did, it's not a guaranteed thing. The clear Google Framework and CHECKIN phone codes are just ways to possibly bump up your chances. If you want the update badly, you can flash the factory images from the developer page. If you take care and don't use the flash-all script, then you can keep data in the process.

I think that's what it does, changes the date to force the process if available but maybe it isn't pushed out yet..
Just got the OTA update. I've been manually checking since the Google event without result. Took a nap just now, woke up and there it was, already downloaded and ready to install.
Cheers,
Addy

Argh, I am getting really inpatient.
I am in Los Angeles, California and no OTA update for me.
It seems like the East Coast are starting to get it - so perhaps over the weekend it will come to CA.
I have yet to hear anyone in California getting it yet - though please correct me if I am wrong.
I was thinking of doing the Google Services Framework thing, but I have been reading online that it can mess up your Google account doing that.
