How was I supposed to know?
I updated because it improved alot of things (faster boot up,more stable wifi connection and improved battery, plus the facebook inside xperia looked neat)
have you flashed your phone with a different image or is it an official SE update? i did the official update to 2.3.3 and had Rainbow 6 before and it worked perfectly after aswell. now i have flashed my phone with a different image with rooted 2.3.3 and now it force closes as soon as i click it.(in my case i think its because the Playstation app to download the games is not there, making the phone think i dont have it maybe because lets golf 2 is the same and i bought them straight off the xperia games app)
Yea I got the same problem mine just force closes right away it makes no sense

There was a problem with Rainbow 6 and 2.3.3.
Gameloft fixed it with an update.
Assumed you guys would have had it.
Suggest reinstalling.
Already tried that no good

Everyone seems to report okay with it...but with drod2169 doing so much with 2.2.1 already I'm gonna stick with that. Also I am testing his new beta and ROM bootstraps automatically on every boot and more coolness to come so I will stick with rubiX focused for now
Is non-oem battery behavior any different???
With the FROYO update, the Droid X no longer recognized aftermarket batteries for whatever reason. Could someone who has flashed this update check and see if aftermarket batteries are recognized with it, or do we still get the '?' in the battery notification area?
Thanks
Not sure if I could live without LCD density at this point. I am gonna wait and watch developments.
so what all changes are in this? and what makes it worth jumping the ball?
If you want a changelog you will have to contact motorola. Otherwise it is supposedly just a faster build and random reboot issues fixed.
ok. well im guessing rubix would work as its same build set up? im tempted to put the leak in as it fixes some of the problems im having but not sure about not having an $BF full to revert back to, just incase i somehow f up on something. i can't afford to brick my only phone lol.
Will this work if I have Fission 2.1 installed? Or would it just delete my custom tom and bring me to a stock 2.2.1?

Okay I would say that this is probably the official OTA update that everyone is awaiting... The kernel is updated which is going to be the greatest advantage with this release...
Media Fix
Im pretty sure that the "sorry this player does not support..." has been fixed in this update... I use my DX as my primary mp3 player atleast 8 times a day and so that old bug would force me to restart 1 or 2 times daily... been running the new release for over 24 hours and I've yet to get the error (using it heavily and testing the music often aswell...)
Updated System Apps
The only thing ive noticed with these so far is a new Data usage widget built in to blur (now that we dont need unlimited data plans...)
Also the dialer now displays the most recent dialed or missed call just above the number keys...
Battery manager Fix
So the battery manager force close seems to have been fixed... I think this was an issue with the app and not the kernel... the reason i say this is because ive been checking to see that the battery stats non stop (maybe 100 times now) in different scenarios (fresh boot, fresh unplug, etc...) and i have only gotten one force close... I was running the 2.2 NexThemed Systems apk at this point... I imediately reinstalled the 2.2.1 setting apk and without needing to restart my phone the battery stats were fixed.
This issue then would not need u to flash the new release to fix for now... you can probably temporarily fix it on the old 2.2 kernel just by running the 2.2.1 app... (maybe people running the 2.2.1 fission can confirm this...
These are the big things i have noticed so far... I can not confirm the HDMI kernel fix though because i have not yet tested it and even when I was running the old kernel I seldom used the feature and When i did it never gave me any issues...
Hope this helps and I'd be very interested to hear about anything else people have noticed!
Does that update zip also do any kernal or radio updates?

I was very comfortable w/D1 but dX is a different ball game and I definitely cannot afford to Brick My new DX, All this "SBF" talk got me scurred...how do I verify what kind of bootloader i have (First verify that your bootloader is @ 30.04)? BTW I am new to DX and not new to android. Can someone also point me in the right direction to educate myself more w/SBF. I have to admit, I just don't know much (if anything) about it nor the purpose..

UPDATE for link http://market.android.com/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient
I saw it on Engadget and yelled YES loudly in the hall. Everyone looked at me with an awkward stare.

I hate to say it but they got me to reactivate my membership with this. I could have sworn I read somewhere that netflix was only going to implement mobile netflix on phones with some sort of hardware security that the incredible doesn't have to appease the networks and movie studios.
Whatever, I'm happy now.
I like how its available to the Inc and not the inc2.....yes our phone is the **** still.
Edit:
Hecky hell balls....doesn't work with my CM7
I'm running the CM7 nightly from May 3rd (sorry, no idea what number that would be) and it's working fine for me. Some are reporting that you need to have the latest Flash update for this to work (10.3) and I got that this morning.
Hmmm I have the new flash....
Using nightly 75
Not sure how much of this will be useful but my full setup is: AMOLED, CM7 May 3rd nightly (think it's #65) (version 2.3.4), 4/19 incredikernel, and the 20110307 Gapps.
Yea the only diff is I am up to #75 hmmm
So far this app works perfectly, about damned time.
Still my favorite Android phone on the market (being partial of course, since it's the one I own haha)
I have been waiting for this for a very long time.

Internal. Trying SD now...
Edit:
Works after moving to sdcard...hmmm
Working on my SkyRaider4 with flash 10.2
Also on CM7 Nightly #65, works for me after moving to SD Card too. Odd, but acceptable!!!
For the record mine has been working from internal. I guess I was just lucky today.

Works 100% perfect without a hitch. CM7.0.3 with latest Invisiblek kernel.
Google somehow recognizes my Incredible as a Nexus S... i got an email the other day congratulating me on my purchase of the Nexus S, funny thing is I've never purchased one, it just so happens I guess they think that when I installed CM7 with my google account they though my Incredible was really their Nexus S lmao
Watch out when using the Netflix update if rooted runing gb...keep the old version (or make a backup) I believe its 1.2.0. They seemed to have blocked access to gb roms on our Inc. Just fyi. Made the mistake already luckily I had a backup.
Running cm nightly #90
Update:
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/05/26/netflix-removes-device-check-should-work-on-all-android-devices/
Seems Netflix is trying to be nice. Wonder why its hit or miss?
I'm using CM 7.03 and just upgraded Netflix (1.2.1) and have no problems using it, movies still play, everything works as normal.
Well ..me and so far plenty other on droidlife are reporting unusable after update.
I'm using nightly 90

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/05/2...ice-check-should-work-on-all-android-devices/
And then this happens.hmmmm wonder what's going on.
I'm using the last stable cm7 and it still works.
Nightly 88 (I think), updated version working.

I know Netflix doesn't work with the new GingerSense ROMs, and the Droidlife article talks mostly about it not working on the Thunderbolt which I believe has the new Sense 3.0 on it, maybe thats the problem not Gingerbread.
Everything running fine for me on CM nightly also. The update actually relaxes the device check it didn't clamp it down further. Maybe uninstalling and clear data before reinstalling, permission fix if rooted, etc, might fix it for those with issues.
EDIT: Well, unless you're running a gingersense that is... I tried again last night with no luck still.
I'm running liberation v2 and I can load nexflix and view my recently watched and instant queue but wont load videos. It keeps on force closing. Its definitely not a sense 3.0 problem.

Yup, it seems every version of Gingersense is getting the same results for some reason. I was hoping the new update would change that but no luck.
Can't even install it from the market.. says insufficient storage
I was having issues with the new update where it seamed like the app wasn't loading correctly or even at all at point, aka just showing a blank white screen, but it turns out that it just took an incredibly long time to load.
DINC with CM7
Thanks first to XDA developers and alot of hardworking people.
I have downloaded from this site about a dozen different versions of the netflix app, including several versions posted after 6/21. None of them seem to work on the incredible 2 I own. I can get the app to install, I can log in to Netflix, I can select a movie, I can start it, but, all I get is audio and a white screen for video.
I have scanned through several forums and I see this is not an unusual problem, and the only possible solutions I have been able to understand seem to involve cracking the phones operating system and going in and messing around with various files and user supplied patches. Reluctant to go into the deep water without a lifeguard and phone still under warranty. Does anyone have a link to an APK that has been tested on the incredible 2 and found to be satisfactory? Thanks for all replies. If I found something will post here.
I'm running CM7.0.3 stable and Netflix 1.2.2 and it's working fine.
I bought my X'PLAY (Android 2.3.2 build number .184) when i travelled to HK few weeks ago since it hasn't reached my country till now..
i got problem with my PLAY, everytime after playing games (xperia play ones especially) for about 10 - 15 mins it crash the android system.. the screen freeze, nothing happened when touching it.. touchpad game n the power button as well did not function. Then i flashed my firware using SEUS, still could not solve the problem. I have to remove the battery to make everything normal again.
Few days later I flashed n changed my firmware to UK region via wotanserver.com (android 2.3.2 build number .184).. this time it helped a bit, the screen did not freeze anymore after playing games for about 15 mins but the touchpad game n the power button issues still occur.. i could not shut down my phone but the touch screen could function well.. Also sd-card could not be recognized by computer when i connected it. Again, i have to remove the battery to make everything works normal
After android 2.3.3 released, i updated my PLAY via SEUS hoping it would fix my problems.. but it even get worse, screen freeze.. touchpad game n power button did not function just like the very first time.
No choice, have to remove the battery to make it normal again.
Now i downgrade to 2.3.2 UK region using flashtool.. at least the screen still work after playing games for hours, but have to remove the battery to make the sd card worked when connected to computer.
Anyone with the same issues? i got frustated... Help guys!!
I had the exact same problem with my old play. You got a defective play... The problem is isolated and few since no one else has that issue. With me it was only when running intense games like rainbow 6 and other hd games. I suggest you return it for another asap... My carrier (rogers) sent me a new one. If you don't have warranty... Since you did get it in hk... I suggest you get a quickboot App from the market so you can reboot it without taking out the battery.

Thanks for the advice.. i installed the quickboot already, but it need root access.. meanwhile my PLAY has not been rooted. I ever tried to root with gingerbreak in the past but always failed.
Root it when it is the generic uk 2.3.2. And then upgrade it to 2.3.3 what problems were you having with rooting
Sent from my R800a using XDA App
Finally successful rooting my PLAY after much... much effort working on it. I don't think i want to update it to 2.3.3 since my screen will get freeze as a result of playing games too long.. Better use the current 2.3.2, my screen will still work (sometimes it happens to me a thought; is it a firmware issue or faulty device issue why my PLAY screen will get freeze after playing games if i use other firmware exclude 2.3.2).
Anyway really appreciate for the info about quickboot app, now i don't need to remove my battery anymore Thanks bro
I'm pretty sure it's your device that is faulty.. I'm not 100 percent sure but I believe it is overheating when you run games that require more power. That is why all the functions on the phone stops working. Should really send it to sony to repair or replace if possible.
Sent from my R800a using XDA App
On my new play that they replaced I have not ran into that problem at all... I played rainbow 6 for 6to7 hrs straight with no problems...
Sent from my R800a using XDA App
Got to be patient to get my PLAY repaired in sony service center for it hasn't been launched in my country yet. Rumor says a month or two later the PLAY will launched here
You should contact the person who sold it to you... I don't think it would be under warranty in the country that you are in.

Anyone heard anything about when the tablet optimised version of this is likely to hit? I've got it running on the Iconia but it's not the smoothest experience. Much better on my Xperia Arc at the moment! Hoping 3.1 will bring an improvement.
when you say running how long does it last before it FC? I just walk for less than a minute it bam fc....
works great for me. Only the character select screen lags a bit. I'm using 1.0.1 on the leaked 3.1 build.
Mine doesnt crash but the display doesnt fit properly and it lags. However I am still on 3.0.1 so heres hoping it will work after update!
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App
Wow OK updated to 1.0.1 and its very good, even the cut off parts are gone. Well what I mean is there is no more cut off well just look at the pics below I'm currently using virtous Picasso 1.0.2 and other was on prime rom.
How did you get it to run on the Iconia?
Market wont let me download because its not compatible with my Acer A500??
Edit: nevermind, did a search for all devices version and could install the bugger
Purchased it from a compatible device tho, just to be on the legal side....
Question now is: i wont get updates the normal way now because Iconia market does not show the game even if purchased, grmpf:
Guess for the long term we have to wait for a lazy gameloft dev to extend the compatibility list for the game (played about 2 hours w/o a single crash yesterday, so the Iconia can handle the game sweetly.

Yeah, same here. Times out every time
dont know if it just me but anyone have the "your system is not compatible"?
I been playing really good logged off then I tried logging back in and nada.
Maybe Gameloft finally detected the non approved system and blocked it?
No such issue here...
For me it force closes from time to time just after during startup (same applies to some other games/apps).
Also i had a "License invalid" once, but after another restart it was ok.
