Any devs out there wanna give this a go?
I would love to be able to rotate my phone in any direction and have the screen flip like on my omnia... I know sense doesn't flip to landscape, thats not a prob, what I really want is to be able to flip the phone upside down and still use it as the correct rotation.
Reason I want to be able to do this is so I can use my phone in the cup holder of my car again, and to do this it must be upside down because of the charger placement... (same as on my Omnia)
Seems a pretty simple request, would be nice if it could auto run and run in the background without using up to much resources to.
If anyone is able to do this, would be awesome.
Thanks
Seconded ... but
I too would like to be able to rotate at least the other way; when showing off the Incredible, people rotate to landscape the other way and nothing happens, so they figure it doesn't rotate. I have to say "no turn it the other way" but it would be great to just not have to think about it.
BUT ... regarding the OP ... I simply took a dremel to the dash mount I bought (the beanbag, since California law doesn't allow sticking to the window in the middle). Carved out enough for a charger, and am done with it
I'd also like to see this. Anyone know the reasoning behind only allowing landscape mode by rotating to the left, and not the right? Even my old BB storm could handle rotation in both directions.
Agreed. This would be useful.

I would think it's because the majority of the world is right-handed and by rotating to the left, the optical track button is on the right side. I could complain because I'm left-handed, but hey at least my phone still has a signal when I hold it in my left hand, unlike other phones out there
This is an option in the cyanogen rom available in the rom manager. If you can look past the few bugs in the rom you can enjoy the 360 degree rotation you are looking for.

My phone aint even rooted yet, for some reason I've tried everything and won't allow me to get into adb recovery... anyways, if it's in another rom, it must be possible, if someone could make this an app!! it would be awesome.
Then we wouldn't have limits as to which rom we would have to use.
...just a thought...

So will this be possible as an App?

Hello,
I'm looking for a g-sensor disabled kernel.
Kernel developers, please make a gsensor disabled kernel, i don't need it, i don't use it.
It causes screen freezing.
To prove it, you can download this sensors application.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.julian.apps.Sensors
Run it and rotate/shake/etc. your HD2 rapidly. Screen will freeze and sensor graph on app will stop.
-----------------------
Edit:
Shadiku has released a g-sensor disabled kernel:
The freeze problem has totally gone, but of course g-sensor does not work.
shadiku said:
Okay, I've been wanting to do this ever since I got my HD2. (which was 8 days ago.)
This is a G-Sensor disabled kernel built on the latest git commit (Sat, 28 Aug 2010 17:37:26)
As far as I can tell there are no freezes and the G-Sensor does not work at all.

You can disbale it urself right? Just put auto rotate off.
Disabling auto-rotate won't disable the g-sensor.
It won't solve the screen freeze problem.
I want g-sensor driver totaly disabled.
if it is disabled, no1 can test it so how will the devs know they have got it working?
unless u intend for the devs to keep trying it themselves with no help from fellow hd2 users... :-/
I can reproduce the problem easily just in a second.
This is enough to solve the problem for developers. They couldn't expect any more information from us about this issue.
errm.. so, did u send in a kernel log to the devs?

And I want several levels, so if you are not able to build that in one box, so you have to make several boxed, one for each level...

Hey... Wake up... They do this in their spare time...
You (and I and the rest of us) are not able to give them enaugh help to solve that problem. Or why do you think one of the main problems are not solved?
Yeah... Really nice... And you guys from turkey are wondering why many germans don't like peoples like you?
You're acting like a little child...
I'm waiting for the day one of the main developers say that he won't work further on this project because we are not showing enaugh repect to their efforts.
I am not able to write software in C or C# or whatever they use...
I am only an AutoIt "script kiddie"...
So I have try to solve the problems my way (and it seems to work).
Take a look at the GIT shortlog. The part "htcleo: fixed AC charging problems" is a result of my efforts to fix that problem... I've write an E-Mail to Markinus with my detailed observations and how I fixed it temporarily. And a few minutes later he found a mistake in the source and released his changes...
I don't say "disanle the AC charging" (because it was working via USB)...
Maybe you should work a little bit more on the G-Sensor problem...
Try to disable the G-Sensor in Windows (its possible), play with the polling intervals. Maybe there are also some values in Android to change the polling interval to the G-Sensor and report your results... Maybe its to high or to low and that causes the problems...
I don't know it either... But you won't die on some attempts...

You can play by using G-Sensor enabled kernel.
For the people who won't use g-sensor, there should be disabled kernel.
Got it? This is not hard to understand.
Making g-sensor disabled kernel couldn't be too hard for developers.

Workarounds on mass
Hey OP, your point is moot. I use a kernel from michyprima, and have not experienced freezes in a long time. I've disabled autorotation cause I don't like it, yet I play many games (Abduction, NFS Shift, Labyrinth ...) which use it.
The only problem is that the g-sensor can't be calibrated, and is off by 10 degrees or so.
For the record, my base is kwbr 4.1 COM3 WinMo + darkstone's HD2Froyo 2.1. I just copied in the new kernel files (root, zImage and modules).
I also use kernel from michyprima, I disabled autorotate, calibrated in WINMO, but always when I walk, the HD2 just don't react, which is very annoying. It also seems, that the CPU load is very high when this happens - which can lead to poor battery life.
Don't take this as a complain, as I know the developers are doing their best to fix this.
I'm prepared to test a new kernel as soon as it is out..., but in the mean time I would be thankful for a kernel with the disabled G-sensor.

I would do if I could, that's what I'm asking for from developers on this topic.
look, if the g-sensor is disabled, no one will get to test it, and it will never EVER be fixed because NO ONE will feedback to the devs where, when and how did the freeze occured..
It is g sensor problem for sure ,nothing else ,I have been two weeks testing different procedures and apps and it is for sure the g sensor problem ,I don,t know how it is related to the digitized ,but it is the cause of freezes. By the way disabling auto rotate doesn't disable g sensor ,it only disabled the auto rotate function not the g sensor

Thank you very much shadiku, I'm going to try this right now.
I have posted a bug on samsung developer forum and got this answer:
"This forum support only developer issues. This is end-user issue."
source: http://developer.samsung.com/forum/...neralB&messageId=201822&startPage=1&curPage=1
so it is customer problem that we get those bugs? or is it feature?
and one more:
i have also reported of touchwizz bug related on all jb firmwares, like fc while deleting home page, folder or quick icons on locked screen and they comfirmed about this bug but also said that it isnt their fault.....
source http://developer.samsung.com/forum/...neralB&messageId=200862&startPage=1&curPage=2
"I have to admit that your feedback was very helpfull to know the cause of the problem, but on the other hand, when you turn on "Developer options" you can see a caution: "These Settings are intended for development use only. They can cause errors to occur on your device and with the applications on it.". You have been informed that there may be problems with device and with the applications. The problem never occurs with the "Developer options" turned off."
so again it is fault of customers that they uses functions which are implented?
maybe i'm not correct but common they could fix those bugs instead of finding the explanation saying that it isnt their fault...
It really isn't their problem once you decide to turn on developer options.

if animation/transition scales wouldnt be at developer settings, i wouldnt care about that option. But common when scale is at 1.0x, transition isnt so smooth as with 0.5x or with disabled...
Think about it the other way. They could stop you from accessing any feature which isn't 100% working.
Remember programming isn't as simple as - I'll just fix this and get it working perfectly.

Far from it. The Developer Options are meant to assist app development on the device. There is a warning you upfront that turning on these options may cause issues and they're turned off by default. What's the point in turning these on and then complaining something broke!?

Hi All,
Now that the KK update is out and installed on all RAZR HDs except for those that are pokey, I thought I'd see what everyone's opinions are.
Try to be a little more informative than "it's good", "I like it", or "it sucks", "I want a different phone". I figured this would be a good place to post up new tricks you've discovered, maybe weren't aware of before actually installing the new OS, and maybe help others discover and maximize the capabilities of the phone now.
DO NOT POST ANYTHING IN THIS THREAD RELATED TO "WHEN IS THE NEW ROOT METHOD COMING"!!!! There are enough threads getting spammed with that nonsense.
I'll go first I guess:
- Liking the extra RAM that has been freed up with the update. About 30-40 additional MB, which in my case with everything I am running every little bit helps!
- Liking that I am now able to take advantage of the KK Xposed modules.
- Thankful that @iBolski pointed me to the new way to hack the wireless hotspot.
- I was toying with the Daydream option in settings, but couldn't get it to work correctly I don't think.
- Definitely enjoying having a 2-yr old phone that is software relevant again. Having unlimited data on VeeZeeDub I like being able to put off outright buying a phone again like I did this one.
- Liking the fact that lockscreen widgets can be posted on the lockscreen, and that a simple swype down from the clock (while using pattern lock method) moves the pattern lock to the bottom and allows the ability to view the widgets without unlocking the phone. Also like that camera is one of the widgets - much easier to get to in a pinch!
- Liking the fact that with Gravity Box [KK] I can use the frosted lockscreen image setting. Have been wanting that for a while.
- Also liking that when music is playing on the phone, the lockscreen image is changed to a picture of the album cover art (not sure if this is a mod I set up in XBlast Tools or in Gravity Box [KK] or something that is standard on the KK OS, but liking it regardless)
...more to come I'm sure!
I love it since I have root.
Things I love:
-Quicker to launch applications
-No lag, or hold ups
-The new pull down menu is a lot better.
-The lock screen and the ability to to take a picture while locked is very nice.
-Battery life seems to be better.
Things I hate:
-Swype is not included and now I have to pay $3.99
Overall, great update!
I concur with Modernmidnights assessment with the exception of Swype. I haven't used it since I purchased Swiftkey. Like that so much better.
My con was the popping noise, but that's fixed now with the fix that @kabaldan gave us. You can get that here:
http://d-h.st/vre
Otherwise, great performance. Lag is gone. Heck, I hate to say it, but I'm getting better performance out of stock than I did with Nexesque ROM and that ROM was great under JB.
Very happy with this release.
is it possible to have google now on this device?

I'm also using Swiftkey, started before Swype was a feature for the AOSP keyboard (at least I think so, else I didn't know how to enable it while looking for it). I have already even deleted the stock keyboard, lol. Come to think of it I remember when Swiftkey added Swype. Was a test of sorts, then it disappeared for about a week, I was so mad I sent a nastygram to them to which they responded that it'll be coming in an update and that it was just a beta test.
Popping noise... mind elaborating slightly? I'm wondering if it's the same popping noise I am getting with autovoice enabled for listening...

Rather than rehash it all, here is a link to a thread I started over in the Q&A forum about it and @kabaldan provided a newly compiled boot image that fixes it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761162
It seems to affect some, but not all phones, whether the bootloader is locked or unlocked.
My apologies for making you respond, I should have looked harder. Your topic describing the issue was almost right below this thread. I don't think that's what my issue is.
I've noticed many problems with the stock messaging app and with hangouts as well, so many I deleted them both and switched to Go SMS pro.
Sigh, hearing there is another update from Motorola on the way makes me sad, I've customized the phone so much since the update I don't want to go back to stock and do it all over again.

The latest motorola phone can do that because they have a dedicated , very low power processor for it , if we did this on our phone , it would ruin the battery life.
the closest you ca, achieve , is with nova launcher, you can program it to respond to "ok google" when you are on the main screen.

Google Now is already on the phone. Now, if you want it to launch from the launcher, then at this point, no. The Google Now Launcher is not available for this phone (yet).
However, as another poster stated, you can get the latest Nova Launcher and it has the ability to respond to "Ok Google" from the desktop.
Or, if one is rooted, use the Xposed module OK Google For Third Party Launchers and enable everything (all apps, EVERYTHING) within. Now I can use "OK Google" to launch Google Now from any application or screen (except for the lockscreen... still working on that one...)
Took about 5 minutes to go through all 150+ apps to enable them all, but worth it.
Another question for all:
Has anyone tried using the Moto Skip yet after upgrading to 4.4.2? I found the apk online (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/moto-skip-apk-t2416837 check post #4)
It installed just fine and ran when entered from settings --> security, but I haven't actually tested it yet since I don't have any NFC tags on hand. Might see if I can pick up NFC tags to see if it works.
Little by little, changing this phone into a "Moto X Mini" lol. Let's call it Moto X Dragon, it sounds cooler 8) lol

I think personally, the OS is a lot snappier but there are a lot of bugs that are still present in the final release thought, I haven't had the popping noise sound but I have encountered soft reboots when I boot the phone with headphones in, it does lag a little sometimes but that's due to lack or ram. I love wireless printing, and read receipts. Would love art runtime if more apps were compatible with it. I'm just glad to have it. Having an locked bootloader isn't that great, the first Razr Maxx HD I had was and that was lovely, but I digress. Daydream is kind of useless to me. I am a battery converservationists. The multiple home launcher selector was well worth the wait. I can run Nova Launcher or the Google Now Launcher whenever I want to. Another drawback is that I can't write anything to the SD card unless it's with a system app now. Battery life is decent, I get a full day of heavy usage everyday. Which is the reason I purchased the phone, battery life. After a few days of running KitKat the random battery drain stopped for me.
i'm now on JB rooted, and i've change my font to playful. If i update to kitkat, will i lost my font? coz i realy love the font :crying:
Many of you already know that Samsung or Google, neither is taking full credit has removed the ok Google from any screen option. This is utter bull crap. The fact that our phone is being crippled without any explanation or reasoning is unacceptable. we as the Android community need to be loud about this. Whether you use the Service or not isn't the issue. You should at least have the option. We need to be loud about this. Bombard them with our inquiry as to why this feature is no longer there. Below is a few links to get you started. I'm still working on finding a direct contact number for Google so that we can call them. the squeaky wheel gets the oil!

To me it's like is suddenly Gmail no longer had a spam folder. yes you still have gmail. and it essentially function the same. But a feature, and maybe a key feature to some people is removed and its only for one particular phone. now it's already been established that spam folder works just fine. But without any reason or explanation its just gone. most people wouldn't care. just a few more emails you have to delete. But to the few that really want it it's a big deal.
I Drive a lot. A lot of us do. And that hands-free experience of okay Google is essential. It actually might become a deal breaker for me. its not there yet but it might be . let's hope I don't have to make that decision and google just fixes this
Your problem is not a Google problem. You will be barking up the wrong tree. Install Nova launcher and see for yourself. It is Touchwiz that is lacking the feature. Talk to Samsung about it.

Samsung can't remove it. And didn't. They may have influenced Google to do it but google is the only one that could turn that feature off. Remember, it was on for the first few weeks. Then it was randomly turned off with out any app update or software.
What a logic. If a different launcher brings it back, it's Samsung's fault, otherwise it's Google's fault.

I don't think you understand how the feature is supposed to work. Turning Nova's feature on only gives you listening when you're on a home page. The full Google feature listens from any screen, no matter the app (and from screen off if you're plugged in).
Nova's feature was rolled out before Google's came to all devices and they're not really related.
That the feature is missing has nothing to do with the launcher.
This is a pretty big issue. I suspect the latest update broke it. I liked having the "From any screen" and from a locked screen feature.
Humm looks like a Samsung tweak to me and coincides with the battery drain fix we got through Samsung Services app. I'm really not a fan of always on Hot words and the like id rather my device was saving its battery than slamming its self listening for a word.
The choice should be their though but my guess is the battery hit just wasnt worth it for the very small number of users who want / need the feature. as other have said new launcher or root/rom and fix the problem yourself
Chances of Samsung "Fixing" this very very very very very very small.

Samsung definitely removed it. Just got my phone last Thursday and I had the option on the phone, as soon as I received the Samsung push for the battery drain it was gone.
I personally couldn't care less about it but hey, if you need it you need it. I don't feel as my phone is "crippled " , didn't even notice it.

I've actually started using S-Voice now (don't kill me) and it's actually really nice. The fact that I can activate it from the lockscreen with the screen off, NOT charging, is a big win too.

Hotward detection while the screen is off is the one feature I miss most from the Nexus 6.

I would give S voice a try. I'm liking it more than I thought I would. It's just on par with Google in speed and it has more functionality.
Perhaps i am weird (or maybe its working in an office), but i have never had the urge to yell at my phone to search.. or do things.... Ill admit i have used my wear to do some texts in the car, but even then i feel pretty silly.
That said, i am not a fan of removing features, but i also air on the side of caution. If an update removed it, i would suspect it was for a cause less nefarious than an evil samsung, and more likely to fix a bug or battery issue. But till we hear something official, its only really guessing...
I'm really ticked off about it. I left my Moto X 2014 for the S6 because of the camera. I probably wouldn't have if I had known that I wouldn't have the full Google Voice functionality on this phone; I typically use Google Voice to interact with my phone several times a day. What really gets me upset is that I didn't realize it until the DAY AFTER my 2 week return period... Luckily, I have a Moto 360 that I can use Google Voice with. This was a crappy move by Samsung. I hope they bring it back.

Those are not what the thread is referring to. OP is referring to "OK Google" from any screen (not just launcher home screens) - for instance, you could trigger Ok Google while in Gmail, Maps, etc - any app really, without needing to go back to Nova or Apex.
