A version of Kwaak3 specifically for Xperia Play phones has been released on the Android Market!!!
This means that we can play games like Quake 3 and Open arena on our devices!
It's called Zeus Arena, it doesn't show up on the launcher atm but you can find it on the android market!

Thank you so much!!! Best game on the xperia play Just to let people know the touch pads do work and they work quite well. I wonder if they can make it work for quake. Can they make it work for n64oid or any other emu's.

is it possible to play Quake 2 on this ?
If so, where are the instructions? I've got quake 3 to work on my x10 before but didn't control at all, will give Q3 a go again.
The app description says it will only work on Xperia Play and it only works with ioquake engine compatible games, I don't think there is a version of quake 2 that works on that engine
Zeus Arena on quake 3
Small demo of app used in quake 3 is on youtube, search for Quake 3 played on Xperia Play
Should we change the video mode to 856x480 wide screen? Or does it not make a difference?? Also a good tip! If you change step left and step right to something else beside the touch pad. The controls on the touchpad are so much better
i just bought this app, i havent got around to testing it yet, can i just use the quake 3 .pak file off my legit quake 3 on my pc?
It should work just fine with the pk3 files off your cd

A version of fpse with touchpad support is built but its only compatible with 2.3 and he doesn't want to release 2 versions.
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
What about the dev releases an in-app purchase with that FPSE build? If you're in touch with the dev, you can suggest him that. It would be only targeted for XPlay owners, so that other devices don't get the wrong build, and it would allow the dev not to have to release 2 versions of his app.

Yes. But if he adds in the support to fpse, that makes the app only compatible with Android 2.3. He does not want this (obviously) and he doesn't want to have 2 versions released on the market!

in app purchase wouldn't work here, the api version changes, meaning the main activity must be recompiled and would require most of the apk to be replaced, not possible in an in app purchase. FPSE isn't only for xperia play, so as was stated, a second build would be needed, or an alternate licensing scheme. Sadly, there's no easy solution, but its likely we'll see 2 versions on the market.

Yeah and I can understand why he doesn't want two versions. Having to update two versions of the same app each time. Would do your head, even carrying across the XP mods to it would be annoying.

has anyone notice the new news update in the tegra zone on March 9? Playstation basically mention they'll be working on a new app called "Playstation Suite" to tegra 2 devices? i couldn't copy and paste the article from the app, but here is what it basically said:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/PlayStation-Suite-to-bring-the-PS-magic-to-your-Android-phone_id16261
wouldn't it be cool to play old classics from ps1. they also mention that they'll port over some ps2 games too. there're a couple of ps1 and ps2 games that i wouldn't mind paying $10-15. hopefully they'll be around or bellow the $4.99 sweet spot

Sorry wrongly spelled it's n64oid and it's a Nintendo 64 emulator for android you can view the video here
Remember to hit tnx
i think the developer took n64oid off the market to work on it since almost all games run laggy still. the only game guaranteed to work, according the to dev. the last time he updated n64oid, is super mario 64, but some other ones work well enough. i'm sure it'll be back on market eventually.
There are other markets where you can buy the emulator the only thing its search google and look here search and find it if its here. I search here and see something but I haven't tested if online or not
Remember to hit the thanks bottom
We wanted root: we have root.
We wanted custom ROMs: The FreeXperia team did it. CyanogenMod is officially built for the Play.
We wanted unlockable bootloaders for the Verizon people: ashergray did it.
We wanted our games in the official emulator: Yifanlu has just done it.
What's left to do with the phone?
Let's brainstorm a bit I'll start off:
How about someone dear brings MIUI?
MIUI would be awesome indeed.
Hope Blagus can figure out a way to get Sense running aswell.. maybe a hybrid of 2.1 and 3.0 ?

That would just complete this phone. If only ...
That would never happen the xperia play is not powerful enough. No current phone is powerful enough. Unless Sony can port the games so they run nativel.
Look at nds4droid it is unplayable and doesn't even have sound and the nintendo ds is only 67mhz compared to the psp which has a 333mhz processor.
Generally speaking emulation requires a processor to be 9x the device being emulated.

But, for this to work, S1Boot shouldn't check for partition table for /system and userdata partitions (data, cache).

Possible but unnecessary. I'm not so sure that someone owning Xperia Play, with easily flashable kernel, will bother to do the same as doixanh had to do for X8, to patch running driver.
adjustable voltages for cpu clockspeed steppings...the obvious one
I highly doubt current stock voltage is required on all cores...that is generally a lowest common denominator approach.
edit:Its possible that a kernal module version (or however its done on x8) might be the only way that simlocked phones will get overclocking, guessing this would be joint dev from the arc as well? Im sure thats something alot of them are after.

So this has me thinking..... Nexus S is similerly specs to the Xperia PLAY and it will be getting Jelly Bean...man... For those curios unless games work great on ICS and or JB I will stick with GB as it offers, currently, the most compatibility. Still though.. if the Nexus S can get it the nwhy not the PLAY. Clearly $ony has moved on and has forgotten about our awesome little gaming phone.... guess its JB or waiting until later today to see what the supposed new ZTE Gaming phone is all about.... peace ya'll

Thats why i am still on GB and dont plan on moving to ICS. Most games are not opimized to work on ICS.
The ZTE smart phone doesn't even have a gamepad. Also only a tegra 2 processor. Bit dated. On the plus side, it is cheap though, only £189.99

Wasn't ever going to happen. Anyway, doesn't Sony have the patent for physical gamepad in a phone?
i heard that JB only needs 512 of ram. Does it mean that it will probably run better as ICS did?

Oh god, not this again.
The reason that the Xperia Play is not getting ICS is not because its hardware!!!!
READ THE FOLLOWING LINES PLEASE!
The reason because the Xperia Play won't get ICS goes like this:
1- Sony launches the Xperia Play.
2- Some months later, some developers like Rockstar Games and EA make some outsanding games compatible with the Xperia Play (GTAIII, Dead Space...) wich helps a lot on the sales of this smartphone.
3- Sony, wich plans to update the Xperia Play to ICS like the other Xperias from 2011, launches a beta of ICS for the Xperia Play in order to allow people to test how their apps and games run on the new version of Android.
4- The beta works great on the phone, but some games like GTA III and other important titles don't run well. These games need to be updated to work correctly on the ICS for the Xperia Play.
5- Rockstar, EA and others refuse to update their games for the Xperia Play.
6- Sony, with no option, doesn't want to lose the most important titles of the Xperia Play and decides to not update the device.
END.
I wanted to ask that y does our nexus 4 not have most nice games?
I saw brothers in arms 2, was not supported
Asphalt 6, not supported
Saw many more games (mostly 3d) and none were supported
Common games like asphalt 7/8 and gta were supported
Moreover, game developers have started tegra exclusive games that really makes me feel bad
Google advertised this phone as built for gaming, and we all know that our phone can easily handle tegra3 , then why can't we play those games?
Since this phone is a Google phone, I demand gaming support, at least for nexus devices
Can anyone tell me one some reasons good enough about this all??
Are there any adreno specific games??
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Well basically it's up to the game developers, which devices they say are compatible.
If they say it's not compatible with our nexus 4 then we don't get the choice to install it. simple as that. Google doesn't get a say in that matter.
Don't go throwing demands about because it just makes you look like a spoilt kid.
There are many different variants of system on chip designs used in the various phones and tablets that android runs on.
Now it's impossible to expect developers to release an optimized version of every game they release, to cater to every different variant of soc out there.
Nvidia been a big name in the graphics industry setup and made agreements with developers to make optimized versions of their games with better effects (known as THD).
Now if you want somewhere to complain. I suggest you either go straight to the developers ask why they aren't supporting this device. Our go to Qualcomm and ask why they aren't pushing for optimized games on their platform.
Complaining here will result in nothing but people flaming you.
