Hi I have a sgs 2 and I want to root, but I understand if you root that the warranty falls away, but then you can flash back to the stock . And then there is no problem with the warranty?
Can someone explain to me or refer me to somewhere about the warranty and rooten?
Thnx

Warranty re root see post on samfirmware.com
Remove root = flash back to stock and reset binary rom counter to zero .
ROOT + ROM COUNTER + STOCK ROM all in development section .
jje
There is counter-reset counter inside SGS 2.

Nothing yet and the flash counter in i9500 is hidden as what we understand
And triangle away not working yet will have to wait till chainfire gets it working
And even if u flash a prerooted firmware u ll increase counter
But after flashing stock again it says official we exactly donno yet whether samsung will know or not that it's modified

but you cant use cwm or twrp or install a custom rom
This root will void warranty.
Quote form the post you mentioned:
"Flash counters and KNOX warranty
Using this root method sets current binary and system status to custom. Additionally, it will also trigger the KNOX warranty void status.
This device store the traditional flash counter. Nor is is possible with Triangle Away to reset the current binary status. You will need to flash a stock kernel and stock recovery to reset the binary status.
The KNOX warranty status change is permanent, and a service center may deny warranty based on this flag - even if the other flags are reset correctly. The KNOX flag being tripped may also prevent certain Samsung KNOX features from working (enterprise security features). If this is something you care about, use a root method not based on custom kernels or recoveries, like a modified system partition. These are possible, but I don't personally make them, so look around!"

0x0 means that the warranty hasn't been tripped, 0x1 means it has.
It's using the binary system, 0=no, 1=yes.... Other numbers not used....
ah , ok .. so the the first zero "0"x0 , deosn't change or mean anything ?

If you root without tripping knox then it's still good. Enter download mode to check knox. Knox 0x0 means ok
If it says 0x1 then you're boned....
odin mode current binary custom
system status custom
knox warranty void :1

Sit and wait for the solution. Or go to service center and ask them to flash it back to stock.

If you want to get updates you need to wipe your device after flashing stock rom.... Make sure everything is backed up, go to download mode, press up volume to get to download mode and flash the rom with ODIN....
Lookup how to flash with ODIN...
i rooted using this site

the data i mentioned is ok
as for stock rom of my country is available on sammobile and i can easily flash it back if that will help i will do it
all that only needed?
Where do u live?
Your knox counter is 0x1.
This mean that you can say goodbye to your warranty, or not. Depending on country where you live.

Most likely the warranty is gone, Knox warranty void 0x1 means you have installed unapproved software on your device. Samsung will use this to deny warranty claims...
There is no way, currently , of resetting this. The bounty, last time I checked, was over $3000 US...

Knox 0x1 was triggered when you root it. Currently there is no way to reset to 0x0 so here in xda whoever manage to reset it will be rewarded 3000usd

Something like that. Why do you need to return it anyway?
I'm from Egypt and I called the service center to confirm. (Does the warranty voided if I rooted my note 3. The answer was yes)
Sorry for the bad news, also I wang to know, you mentioned that the stock rom for Egypt is available in sammobile and u can fladh it. But its not true as the available version for Egypt is yhe Jelly Be 4.3 and yoy can't downgrade from Kitkat 4.4.2 to Jelly Bean 4.3.

u mean i can't for now flash the 4.3 via odin,and i have to wait till 4.4.2 ?
oki what would happen if i flashed the 4.3 over the 4.4.2 and what is your warranty agent ? mine's union group and i think they don't care about that am just bothered coz i wanted to trade with a 4g version and even if u had serious problem in your mobile here in egypt they might not fix it they will easily say bad use etc like they did in s3 death of motherboard and anyway it depends on the agent
My warranty agent is MTI.
For the other inquiry, yes you can't flash the 4.3 via odin as once you upgraded to Kitkat 4.4.2 you can't go back words as the boatloader has been upgraded as well.
The warranty is useful as you might have a hardware failure and if u did some noise they will fix it for you.

Hello,
i have SM-N900 Galaxy Note 3 with Exynos processor, i got this phone around 6 months or more. In these past 6 months, i never root doing any tweaks with Odin / any other HH tweaker because i dont have the courage to do so. I want to root it since i have this phone, but knowing there is Knox tripping and such, i never try to root.
And then, i just read some articles to check out your Knox warranty, because i'm curious about 'if' there is any Knox Warranty void on Exynos version, i tried to install Phone Info - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo - and then i checked out, my Knox warranty void is 0x1.
I also getting inside Odin Mode, and the Knox warranty Void is 1, but my Phone status is Samsung Official, the rest is Official.
I read this helpful post to reset KNOX counter on SM-N900: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52329946&nocache=1 , on those steps, it said it needs to flash Stock ROM to remove the Custom status of your device to back into Official, after you flash the bootloader for resetting Knox warranty void.
Question:
1) I wonder, can we only go through the 1st step, just only flash the bootloader with odin to my Galaxy note 3, only to reset the Knox warranty void back to 0, without flashing the stock Rom afterwards? because i don't want to wipe out my phone and lost all my data (I know i can backup it via Kies), and my phone status is already Official.
2) Does flashing the bootloader itself, will wipe your data inside your phone?
Thanks before for any answers!

if i am not wrong ... and as i used to do with note 1 back then
installing a stock rom over another stock rom does not require to wipe data but maybe this is different since u have to flash a bootloader
sorry ... i know i did not help much
Its imposible to reset Knox from 0x1 to 0x0. Unfortunately.

as i said .. if u install a stock rom over another one . u dont have to wie data at all and u wont lose any thing ..
but since u gona use another file with the stock rom (( the bootloader )))
u better see the steps for this way .. maybe it is require ti wipe and format .

Hey to me it seems that it does not factory reset the device until you have to move on to the the step
See this link: http://blog.flexispy.com/how-to-downgrade-a-samsung-galaxy-note-3-from-os-4-4-2-to-4-3/
Scroll down to where they begin flashing the bootloader itself. They instruct you to wipe after the bootloader is flashed.
Only way to find to find out is to just do it.
How did Kox get tripped btw? You said you never rooted mainly because of that reason.
If it is already tripped you should just root it, install cwm, do a nandroid backup and try the method in the second link you posted.
So if it fails you just recover your nandroid backup and back to square one.
Hope this helps!
