When official gingerbread releases, will I be able to upgrade firmware ota or through kies?
Odin. Search or read some guides.
you need to flash a stock rom through odin. you can find the info about how to flash on the stick forum, and the rom, you can find it in development section, if im not mistaken, posted by teamwhiskey
Flash to stock using Odin.
Use this link, it includes a how to video and the proper download files.
Yes, flash stock 2.1 version first using ODIN....

Looking for stock 4.3.1 ROM which I can upgrade to from stock rooted 4.2.2

There are so many ROMs in the development section that I am lost. Is there a simple stock 4.3.1 TW ROM that I can upgrade to from a 4.2.2 stock ROM with root?
I would like to keep applications and settings, and like to keep root.

SamMobile.com is the best place to get official stock firmware/roms.
These firmwares/roms are all the ODIN flash types.
Here are some examples: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/
Just be sure that the firmware you select is for your specific phone and country.
Good luck!
If you still have a non knox bootloader, then don't flash official roms. Just try some custom roms out in the development secton.

I'm coming from 4.4.1 I want to flash a Lollipop ROM, I haven't flashed for very nearly 2 years. I'm obviously rooted already.
Is coming from KitKat as simple as just flashing a Lollipop ROM? I'm an SM-9005, I've got Odin 3.10 and I want to flash Resurrection-Remix-LP-v5.5.5.
I've seen that I need to backup my PIT and obviously backup my current ROM, do I need to update my baseband or radio etc?
No one?
No need to backup your baseband or radio. RR is an AOSP ROM as far as I know, so you won't be able to flash it with Odin I'm guessing, as it comes as a zip package? I don't have any interest or idea about it, but you can only flash via Odin if the ROM comes as tar image.
Also as you are coming from KK, you 'might' need to flash a stock Lollipop ROM first to update the bootloader from KK to LP, read RR topic, see if its mentioned or not. If its not then you probably don't need to, but as I said no idea.

Recommendation for a Kernal to use with Stock Android 5.0

Hey guys,
I'm flashing back to stock 5.0 as I 've haven't had great luck with most roms. Can someone tell me a recommended kernal I can flash with this ? I have a note n900w8 (Bell Mobility - Canada).
Thanks !
wrong place for your post!
Stock kernel comes with stock firmware .
if you flash another kernel you will need to flash a custom recovery and that makes it not a stock rom .
