BackTrack 5? - Eee Pad Transformer General

Does anyone know if these steps (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075054) would work to install BackTrack 5 on an external SD card? I know you would likely need to build a new kernel for Backtrack to work properly on the Transformer and the block devices will differ but could it be easily doable?

have you tried installing the ARM version of BackTrack 5?

delete this please

im interested on this and i dont see anything wrong

I have it semi working now. Just need to get wifi, sound, touchscreen, and touchpad to work properly. Fun.............

Any further progress on this project?
The guys over in the Samsung Galaxy S2 forum did huge progress ... they are currently working on monitor mode!
Wouldn't it be great to have a network security analysis tablet?
Might the internal WiFi adapter work in monitor mode? It's a broadcom. Or would it be possible to use a USB card? The later is currently examined by the Samsung guys.
PS: Someone in the backtrack forums reported, that the Xoom how-to was helpful for porting it to the TF.

I have bt5 running via:

Has anyone installed postgresql or mysql and run metasploit?

Work or not WiFi? and touch or pad?
In Backtrack forum a user say (search asus and you find the post) he have a step/guide for AT but wait for admin ok to post it...

Honeycomb on Archos gen8 [development thread] [early stage]

EDIT: This tutorial is outdated. We have a massive problem with the touchscreen
Hi to all!
I am the owner of an Archos 101 and I thought, why not port Honeycomb?
So I've used the SDK images that Google published and I've booted Honeycomb on the Archos 101. But anything works
Some screens http://twitter.com/licuende/statuses/36070541160878081
As I said, anything works. The system blocks and you can't make anything. The biggest problem is that ADB isn't working neither, so I can't debug the problems. I have tried a lot of things in the init.rc without success.
So I claim your help, Android veterans!
Here the steps for having Honeycomb on the Archos 101 (would be the same for other gen8 devices):
Install UrukDroid 0.6
Download http://megaupload.com/?d=UBC0FFZ1 and place it on /tmp
Booting into stock Android, mount SD and run these commands (replace /dev/sdc2 and /feb/sdc3 with the second and third partition of your SD card):
# cd /tmp
# mkdir sdcard
# mount /dev/sdc2 sdcard
# mkdir honeycomb
# cd honeycomb
# unzip ../honeycomb.zip
# cp -rf sdkramdisk/* ../sdcard
# cp -rf sdksystem/* ../sdcard/system
# umount ../sdcard
# cd ..
# mount /dec/sdc3 sdcard
# rm -rf sdcard/*/*
# umount sdcard
Reboot and boot the Developer Edition
Wait some time and... you'll get the unlock screen of Honeycomb!
I am a novice in Android ROMs so help is welcomed.
Thanks to deeper-blue (XDA) and @dm8tbr (OpenAOS) for helping me and $auron for UrukDroid
EDIT: Google will not release Honeycomb source code until Ice Cream release at the end of the year. That isn't good :-(
Well, even though I have absolutely 0 (i.e. none) dev skills, I thank you for getting the ball started on this much needed port.
Maybe this should be put in the Dev section though. You might get more responses from people who know what they're talking about instead of lookers-on like me.
Yeah it's true but I cannot write in the development forum due to permissions problem (I have less than 10 posts or something similar ). If an admin can move it..
Are you running stock kernel with it or one or custom? I watched some of the nook videos and it looks like they were just using some custom kernels but nothing specific.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Can you post a picture of the device information screen showing Honeycomb? I don't mean to be a skeptic, but you can download a Honeycomb lock screen for Froyo and below Android.
I am running the stock UrukDroid kernel.
I cannot shown more screens because the system crashes and I think the touchscreen is not working. But you can test it, simply see the instructions and you'll get a beautiful locked Honeycomb Only works the lockscreen clock and the shutdown dialog that don't require touchscreen.
If we get ADB working all the porting will be easier.
Respect!
It is so good to see that developers are working on it
Good luck porting.
I wish you the best. If I knew what I was doing I would help, but I’m fairly inept at the whole ROM thing. I can troubleshoot and beta test, but that is about it.
After a lot of time talking with Archos gurus at the OpenAOS IRC channel I think the problem is in the init binary. We haven't the Honeycomb source code so we'll have to mix the Honeycomb init binary with the UrukDroid binary. Any help is appreciated
Great work! its good news that someone is trying to port this to our devices and as someone stated earlier it will probably need a custom kernel to be able to run. would it be possible to download the nooks working kernel and patch it by applying archos's drivers for say filesystem, battery, touchscreen etc
Congratulation for your work, I`m very interested in the development of the Uruk-Droid but with Honeycomb it would be much better !
I wish I knew more to help guys. I haven't even tried uruk yet cause I didn't see an advantage unless we could flash gb or honeycomb. Now I see I should have so i could be helpful. I guess I'm more of a follower than a leader when it comes to this stuff. Love it all though and appreciate the people that can create!

Oh my god thank you for start this absolutly perfect project!!
But i haven't any help for you,sorry..
but why you don't ask $auron, if he would work with you together?
An Urukdroid release with 3.0 ? That would be simply amazing!
Hope,Hope,Hope
Sorry for my bad english, i'm from germany

that's what I thought. it will be a lot easier (despite being hard anyway) to port it when you have the sources.
Yes much easier with source code however I was running gingerbread on my dinc before it was ever released. So it can definitely be done.

Keep up the good work. Would be much appreciated!
New SDK is finalized and ready for download: http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-3.0.html
But when will the sources be released? Git repository has only up to 2.3.x yet.
The source normaly comes after the first device gets it.
So hope that Moto holds there words and the xoom gets out soon.
Good news but my question is: how to do a porting from SDK? I wont try honeycomb on my tablet...

[Q] 2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.20 (Pinch Zoom not working)

Hi guys, i need some help here.
I just installed 2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.20 updated by ratch, everything is fine but the features i was looking for is not working. The reason i root my fone is for me to use the pinch zoom coz i was so fascinated by it. I did a manual installation replacing the existing file but there's no luck for me either to work it out. How can i make pinch zoom work with ratch 2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.20 rom?
Thank you so much in advance guys..

type this on on terminal emulator/adb shell
Code:
dmesg | grep "cyttsp-i2c"
If you have something like this, that means your X8/X10mini is using Cypress and therefore it will not be supported by x8gesture:
Code:
<6>[ 4.185259] cyttsp_i2c_probe: Successful registration cyttsp-i2c
Oh thats quite disappointing coz it resulted something like that.. Is there anyway i could change it to Synaptics
LOL no this is your hardware xD but you are lucky you have cypress! Because its multitouch capable but synaptics not i have synaptics and x8 gesture works for me just wait till someone will make multitouch driver for cypress for our x8

One more thing i wanted to ask how can i make openvpn work on my new rooted x8 with ratch cutum rom. I read a lot of threads regarding it but it leads me with so much confusion.
Ratch floyo 0.25 is cyanogen mod right? so i have to follow this instructions only?
For cyanogenmod ONLY
install openvpn settings
go to sd card, and create a folder name it: openvpn
place the config files in the openvpn folder
open the openvpn application then choose Preferences
choose insmod --> tun --> then locate tun.ko ( /lib/modules/tun.ko)
tap the config file and wait for it to connect
connection sequence:
unknown => wait => auth => get config => add routes => 123.123.123.1 connected as 10.8.2.1 (ex. ip)
Reminder: you should get an ip value for "connected as". you won't be able to connect to the internet if the value is blank.

[info] how to install android on intel comuters

1.Download android x86 iso from here
http://www.android-x86.org/
2.To install arm apps on android x86 use arm translator
for that you need to download 3 libraries from Buildroid and copy them into the system folder (so make sure you select to install the /system directory as read-write while installing Android-X86!):
Since the latest Android-X86 uses an ARM translator, not all ARM applications will work, for instance, Google Chrome won't work. Angry Birds (as well as Amazing Alex) on the other hand, worked in my test using a custom Android-X86 build in VirtualBox, though it was kind of slow (probably because of VirtualBox):
I'm sure there are readers who are wondering if Netflix works with this new Android-X86 release, but unfortunately I can't answer to this question because Netflix doesn't work in my country so if you try Netflix with Android-X86 4.0.4 RC2, let us know if it works in the comments!
you can download arm translater from here
http://www.webupd8.org/2012/07/android-x86-404-ics-rc2-released-with.html

Okay .. wow.. there must be a back-door/virus in these builds!?!
How can such an UGLY website be the only place to get working 4.2 previews for x86?!
The AOSP 4.2.1 2013-01-24 was a bit portly (182mb) but it ran like a top on my virtual PC and I'm off to try it on the laptop/carpc.
Up until now I'd been running 2.3.7 as it's the only build that would work with everything, but it's getting old fast!

Lappy did NOT boot from it. Much sadness followed and I'm still on the hunt for any 4.x releases that will run on my older `Centrino` class laptop. I'm not expecting full support, I'd be fine with USB blue-tooth, even USB WiFi, all I want for it to do is boot with the CPU/audio/graphics chipset combo I have in the laptop.
It'd be so nice to have it booting droid native vs. only being able to run it in VirtalBox.

The long way:
Here is the official Canonical's Porting Guide
here we have the cm nightlies from wich we take the binaries for the base system.
Now, I will set up my building system how described in the Guide (Since I've already a working Ubuntu 13.04 x64 PreAlpha installation, I'll use that as base)
Seting up the development environment
What is not in the guide:
Code:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:phablet-team/tools
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install phablet-tools
sudo apt-get install bzr
sudo apt-get remove openjdk-7-jdk
sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jdk
So, on the console

Code:
mkdir -p UbuntuTouch/GT-N7000 #at a location with 20 gigs of free space(yes, its a lot :D )
cd UbuntuTouch/GT-N7000
git config --global user.email "[email protected]" #needs this only once for
git config --global user.name "Your Name"
phablet-dev-bootstrap ./ #this will take a while, it will download all sources except the kernel if I understood right
Edit .repo/manifest.xml and add following at the same xml level where the other project tags are.
(First search for, maybe they are already in that file)
Code:
then again on console:
Code:
repo sync
Code:
adb devices #just a short check to see if the connection is working, if it's in the list, go further, if not check whats the problem
. build/envsetup.sh
brunch cm_n7000-userdebug #if everything is ok, this will take a while
put the zip you get in the output onto your sdcard, download saucy-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip
reboot your n7000 into recovery mode, backup and flash first the preinstalled and then the build.
Have fun
Sounds good...keep us updated

no I'll try it this weekend
Re: [Ubuntu Touch] Porting the Ubuntu Touch Developer Preview to GT-N700
You don't have to use cm, you can use AOSP.
You can even use Samsungs kernel source (I haven't bothered building the latest so no idea how good it is our not) and the binary blobs from the latest stock build.
I'm building it for one of my tablets at the mo from AOSP, using an old but working kernel.

Yep, having sync troubles at this end as well. Must be lots of us trying to make this work. Good to know the GT-N7000 is so popular? Keep getting "fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly".

Forgive my offtopic, i'm interested of using Samsung sources for Galaxy SII i9100, instead of cyanogenmod 10.1, that isn't properly good for this device. can you tells me more about that?

C4Droid on Android

Anyone who has experience using this app, could you explain how one can turn a program into an apk file?
Thanks!

This can be found in the Google Play description: "Result of compilation (binary or APK) can be exported using menu->export."

export to binary
Hello Guys, I recently purchased this app. Everything works fine, except one thing: I cannot export my programs to binary. I mean, I can do it, but it wouldn't work on windows, neither on ubuntu. What am I missing? or misunderstanding?
THanks in advance

C4DROID compiles for ARM so you can not use the output binaries on X86 . You may run the binaries on other Android phones since C4DROID uses Android EABI and Bionic ( on GCC Plugin ) and uClibc ( on TCC )
hi please replay
The program does not run on my phone, why? My phone is a Galaxy S i9000
