Is that because you have data turned off .

i have used the search tool here nothing specific to my problem.
my data is always on. when i turn on wifi, wifi connects very quickly and when i leave my wifi area, theorotically my data network should take over from wifi but it doesnt happen.
i never had any issue with any other android phones i have owned before such as HTC hero, Xperia X10.
i connected my phone to kies today, it could not detetc it so i turned off usb debugging then i could connect to kies. i checked for update there is no update available. i think i have to flash a different rom using ODIN.
hmm ok , yes , I would recommend flashing other rom , but first give it a try to the newest stock rom , my thoughts..!

Hi, I have used many ROMs to find out what is best but after some use of most ROMs (all froyo), I have noticed that no matter what I do, mobile internet won't turn on. It usually happens after the second reboot and various methods of toggling the mobile internet fail toturn it on, even when they say that the internet is connected.
The problem is that I have decided that my favourite MOD is a 2.2 (froydvillain) and the fact that I have no internet is not helping.
Basically, can someone help or is it a Hardware fault?
-- will updating my Radio help?
Hmmm, strange. I have no idea why it works first but then stops after a few reboots, I'm using FroydVillain and internet is 100% ok.
Yeah it is always recommended to have the latest radio,... give it a try, cant hurt can it, and you can always roll back to an older one if the update causes issues.

[Q] I keep getting: - "Data Connectivity Problem - The server failed to communicate"
"Data Connectivity Problem - The server failed to communicate. Please try again later"
I keep getting this message when I try to connect to some websites.
How can I overcome this situation please??
I have searched this and other forums but not found the answer.
I have tried resetting - power offs - etc, etc but this message keeps appearing and I remain totally unable to get onto some sites that I need to spend a lot of time on.
I am in UK on o2 network but use wifi most of the time.
Help please.
I have also now tried sim cards from Tesco Network and Vodafone Network but still get the same result.
Please help me if you can
What rom are you using? The JMG rom for example has wifi connectivity issues. Or are you having trouble using cellular network?
Not sure what ROM I am using (i am unsure of how to find this out) and yes I still get same issue when using cellular network.
The problem is your browser is not compatible with your webserver. I had this problem back in blackberry days. Download dolphin or opera to see if a different browser fixes your issue.

I suggest for you to search around for a APN setting that suits your network provider. Sometimes it may be caused by that.
Wrong apn settings would keep you from even connecting to your cellular network. You wouldn't be able to get any message.
Same here
I've had my tab for only a few weeks, and have had a very shaky wifi connection because of the same error you get.
With the wifi I can logon no problems, but I continue to get the error you mentioned. The stock browser is essentially useless with this, so I tried many others. Dolphin HD, Opera Mini & Mobile, Miren, and Firefox beta were mostly better, but still not really useable. The best I found (even though I think some of the others are better browsers) is Skyfire. It doesn't seem to suffer the wifi issues to the same extent as any of the other browsers.
The wifi issue seems very strange, and I think it is more my ageing Netgear router. It doesn't work well close up when I get a full strong signal, but is acceptable (not good) when I am in the next room or even outside. The only thing that really worked was switching back to b from g, but I didn't stay with that for more than a couple of days because of the speed difference.
I have also flashed to Rotohammer's latest ROM JMI (unfortunately with the same issue, and no GPS).
I will continute to try various things I find around this forum, but as you say, no one seems to have an answer.

Thanks but my APN settings were provided automatically by my network provider and I have checked and double checked them and even tried editing the APN settings but without success.

Do you know anything about tomcat? I googled your error, where I found out about the browser incompatibility, and it could be on the server side.

Well I have had a "slight" success in that I installed Mozilla Firefox and it allows me to sign into the "offending" websites/forums etc.
It is slow but at least it is doing the job!!
Any other suggestions would be most welcome.
You are not alone in this frustrating issue. I have a T-Mobile Tab and I constantly have data issue when on the celluar network. I constantly have to reset the data by turning off and on airplane mode or holding the power button to reset the data and as a last ditch effort, I just switch it to GSM only *Shudders* Wifi works flawlessy. Data on the other hand is shaky at best. I will try another browser other than stock today. Honestly I suspect the issue to be APN related because it's definitely not the SIM card related, as i've changed that several times. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Rangercaptain - I found this reference also, but could not figure out where this server might be. Logically there is only my tab, router, adsl modem, and my internet service provider (Telstra). I could only think that the 'tomcat' server could only be within Telstra, but also thought that if this was the issue there would be many more people complaining about this isue.
Can you throw any more light on which direction I should look to follow this through? I am also puzzeled about where I might change things to make my browser 'compatable'.
Thanks very much for your interest and help.
I am still looking. The server in the reference would be the sever that hosts the website you want. I will check back here later when I know more.
Thanks - I think you are right. My only problem is that the problem occurs on manywebsites, and even on Market and other internet accessing apps. While this could still be right, I don't see why many more people wouldn't be having the same issue.
It also puzzles me that changing the modem from g to b decreased the error significantly, as does moving further away from the router when it is in g mode.
Very confusing.
Hello,
If you don't want the boring details of how I discovered the problem feel free to skip the next couple of paragraphs and go straight to the technical details.
I got my first Android phone (Motorola Defy) a couple of weeks ago and at first I was only using it with wifi because my data plan wasn't activated yet. While playing with it a little I realised that I saw a lot less ads than my boyfriend on his 6 month old Defy. I thougt it was weird but, well, seeing less ads is not a big problem.
Then when I got my data plan I saw that when I wasn't home I saw a lot more ads, so I began to suspect it had to do with how my phone was connected to the internet : wifi or 3G.
Next I wanted to try out Astrid and when I tried to log in using my Google account it failed repeatedly. Until I disabled wifi and it logged in fine using 3G.
Then I installed RTÉ DocOnOne to listen to documentaries while falling asleep. When wifi is enabled, it cannot start up because it can't connect (network timeout). Over 3G, no problem.
At first I thought it was my router blocking ports or something but it happens with different wifi APs and more importantly my boyfriend's phone, connected to the same access point, loads everything without a problem.
Let's sum up:
Some apps can't access the network using wifi but work fine when using 3G.
It happens regardless of the wifi AP (tried 4 different ones with different routers) and another phone using the same app connected to the same wifi AP can access the network just fine.
If I initiate the connection using 3G then switch to wifi (typically I launch the app with 3G, switch wifi on without closing the app), it still works after that (RTE DocOnOne has no pb streaming the documentaries once it has launched)
My phone is a Motorola Defy, French retail ROM, not rooted, no motoblur account (skipped the configuration), Froyo 2.2.2 (already on the phone when I got it), system version (if that means anything to you) Version.34.164.3.MB525.Retail.en.FR, kernel 2.6.32.9-g050ccf2, build 3.4.2-164
I can't give as much details about my boyfriend's phone (that doesn't have the problem) because he's not here right now but I can tell you that it is a Motorola Defy too, French retail (I think) ROM, Froyo updated from preinstalled Eclair (using the official Motorola update), not rooted, with a motoblur account
I have no idea if that's relevant or not, but my phone has the "google maps 5.7.0 crashes on Defy" issue (18446 in the android issue tracker) and my boyfriend's phone hasn't.
Has anyone encountered this issue before ? I couldn't find anything on this forum or with a google search.
Is there any tool I can use to try and find the cause of the problem ?
Thank you for reading all this, sorry if my message was long but I wanted to give as much detail as possible to help the nice people who may find what is wrong with my phone
I didn't read all..
but if your phone don't have problems then check this:
1. go to settings
2. Select "Location & security settings"
3. enable this "Use wireless networks" Location determined by WiFi and/or mobile networks
4. test does it work...
Hello manumanfred,
I did what you suggested (actually it was already checked) and the problem is still there (tried unchecking it too).
I am not sure why you suggested it, was that related to some phones having wifi problems in some countries ? I read a thread about that when I was researching my problem but it is different. In my case, wifi works most of the time, but some requests always time out.
Thanks for trying
Anyone else has an idea of something I could try ?

Hello, did you solve the issue?
Hi all
I've posted this on another forum but its a bit dead so didn't get any help.
Recently and it is really annoying but facebook and certain other websites just don't load on the stock browser or dolphin pad.
Now the youtube app seems to work fine but loading a youtube video on either browser and it really struggles. However I can go on project free tv and stream an episode of a programme no problem. Every now and then though facebook etc can work fine and then I turn the tablet off and go back on it and it isn't working again.
So frustrating because it was working fine about 10 days ago.
Thanks
Anyone? Still having this problem, very weird and annoying.
I'm having the exact same problem. All apps work at full speed but any browser i use has trouble and takes a minute or so to load a page. XDA is the slowest site for me, taking 2 minutes to load a page. I have odined twice, rerooted, flashed 4 different roms, all the same. I go to xda on my netbook and my phone, on the same wifi connect, and they load xda immediately.
Did you guys recently updated Flash Player (or had it updated automatically)? I did and I noticed all flash-heavy sites work a lot slower, some videos don't want to play at all, some sites won't even open anymore.
I'll try to remove the latest update or uninstall it completely and look for older version and post back.

well, i tried uninstalling flash but wouldn't let me. so first i disable plugins on the dolphin browser, still no dice. then i froze flash, went back to xda-developers.com and it still just sits there.
I pullled my hair out yesterday with an intermittent internet problem, which I was able to solve by Rebooting my entire LAN and WAN (DSL Modem) systems.
The details of my episode are here: OOPS
Can't post the link, but it is on galaxytabforum.net under the General Discussion sub forum titled "intermittent slow stop go wifi operation"
If you don't want to read the entire post there, just cut to the chase on the bottom line.
George
im starting to think that there is a problem within the tab itself. i have tried "in paris" rom, overcome rom, stock rom, stock kernals on all, and pershoots kernel with each rom. all apps work fine for internet connection and speed. its just right now, my tab, when going to xda-developers, takes about 2 minutes a page load. google.com, duckduckgo.com almost most websites instantly load. last night i changed dns servers on my tab with no luck. others have reported issues with "find on page" within their browsers, its starting to make me think that there is something wrong with honeycomb itself. when i first got my tab, the internet on any browser was flawless.
Yeh thats very similar to my problem, if not identical.
Sometimes mine works fine and then it is a nightmare (mostly a nightmare to be honest)
This was a problem before flash was updated to 11.
If ur on wifi check if u r on ad hoc mode...
You are describing the exact same problem that I encountered (see post up about 3).
If you can, find another WiFi Access Point (one that does not goback through YOUR Modem or Router) and see if the problem persists. Go to Macdonalds or Starbucks and try your TAB.
If it operates normally there, do a COMPLETE system Reboot on your internet system.

This is one of those problems, I might not be able to explain. After 4 fresh odin attempts, multiple rom flashing, I was still having issues with xda-developers.com. As of right now, I decided, hey will it work faster thru orbot, after running orbot and going to xda thru the orweb browser, now my internet problem has completely disappeared. I can get to xda now either thru orbot, or straight thru no problems. This has me wondering if using odin on the galaxy tab ,doesnt completely erase like on my fascinate. On my phone, odin will take care of any problem guarented, i dont get that feeling with odin on the tablet. After one time I odined the tab, it put a wallpaper back on I had deleted a week previous.
I am having weird internet/data behavior on my International GT-I9500 with stock Android 4.3(XXUEMJ9),India.(PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED SCREENSHOT)
When I try connecting to the internet using any browser or browse through play store the internet doesn't work. The 3G, H, H+ signals show up in full signal strength but doesn't connect to the internet. I need to manually disconnect the internet from the status bar menu and reconnect it and then it works fine. But after sometime it occurs again. Initially I thought its because of different apps installed from play store and so I did factory reset/formatted , re-flashed the stock firmware but the problem persisted. Then I changed my simcard with a different 3G simcard but the same problem occurred after sometime. I really have no idea what to do now! If its not a firmware issue then its a hardware issue. I have no network issue where I live in Mumbai,India.
It happens randomly and occurs many times a day.
Additionally, I'm experiencing much lower battery backup then the previous firmware and I cant go back to the previous firmware as it'll trigger the knox warranty status and so will void warranty. ANYBODY HELP???

Well,
I had this issue in previous firmwares too. I had android 4.2 installed when I first purchased the s4.The problem was there even then. Then in all other 4.3 versions in different built numbers I just wished that the problem was fixed but it remained.
And it happens not only with play store but also in internet browsers.(chrome, dolphin, default browser everywhere)(plz see the attached) So its not a play store bug.
Since counting from android 4.2.2 to 4.3 latest versions the problem persisted, I am doubting on the hardware part, also I don't know if anyone facing the same problem.

it don seem to be firmware bug!
it s like unstable network
download a terminal then use ping ... (a valid ip or address)
in linux it will continue to ping until u press ctrl+c
but if it stops after 4 ping try this; ping ...(valid address) -t
then check ur 3G connection if all packet send/receive completely
If u r sure thr s no firmware bug or unstable network take ur phone asap to service for checking its modem.

I used ping/dns, fing etc but everywhere it gave the same reply "operation not permitted".Thanks anyways.
I went to the authorized samsung service center. The service engineer Re-Installed the latest firmware assuring that the problem would be resolved inspite of telling him that it already has the latest firmware installed and wouldn't resolve it. However, the problem wasn't resolved and I asked them to replace the PCB(motherboard) . So they replaced the motherboard and I am examining the phone now. Will up date soon whether the problem has been fixed or not.
