[Q] TouchWiz program icons - Galaxy S II General

Is there a way to organise the icons alphabetically? Maybe I am missing it but I can't see it anywhere.

Just press on applications. Then press the menu soft key and select list view.
Hope that helps.
Thanks

Thanks but is it possible to do this on grid view?

Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and delete the program data for Touchwiz.
That should make it re-order everything alphabetically when it's next launched

Thanks, will give that a shot. There is also AppZorter Lite for TouchWiz in the Market for those who are interested.

If you are feeling a little bit adventurous, I highly recommend the Enhanced TouchWiz launcher. It has opened up a lot of options such as automatic app drawer grid sorting, app drawer customization, default home screen customization etc. Just make sure you read the thread and download all the necessary files to get it running on your SGS2. I'm using it on Infusion ROM and it works fine.

It also deletes all your widgets and panels, reverting to initial default widgets, naughty one

Tried it on my stock 2.3.3 w/ CF kernel. App forecloses upon running sort.

i installed appzorter light, and it worked for me on kf3 xeu stock unrooted.
when i first started it after the installation, it didn't work, it has to be started from the app drawer, but then with one click it sorted my apps alphabetically. also, it is capable of closing gaps when an app is removed. it's slim and does what is supposed to.

That issue should be fixed now, try the new version (1.0.4).

"appzorter" downloadable from the market will alphabetically arrange your program icons in the app drawer for touchwiz UI

[DL] Stock Play Gingerbread Launcher (w/ landscape mode)

Want the stock gingerbread look for your Play? Want a landscape supported launcher? Don't have a Verizon Xperia Play?
Ripped from the R800x system. Download and set as your default launcher. If you have root, you can freeze/delete the SE Home launcher to free up space.
Supports landscape mode when you slide down the control pad, and you can use the gamepad to navigate between home screens, open apps, etc. You'll probably want to turn off the auto launch 'get more games' app though (use menu key, settings, disable auto-start on slide)

Tested and working on unbranded/rooted R800a. Anybody out there with a R800i to test?
Gonna test now

Hmm nice but nothing adw or launcher pro can't do. This could help some though.

Yeah this is probably best suited for those who really want the stock gingerbread experience or a nice lightweight launcher.
Bonus though you get a bunch of cool stock gingerbread wallpapers with it... as I just discovered.
Thanks m8. My goal now is a full vanilla gingerbread rom

thanks axiomjunglist, nice post, pushed it to /system/ and works well, i'm sticking with Launcher pro plus though, but its nice to have
Now the question is how do we make it fully stock? I tried the dialer but seems to not work well. I got the settings(black), calculator, keyboard and messaging app all to work by installing the apk form the Verizon system dump. Besides getting the dailer to work, is there anything more to make it stock?

So far so good, some I pushed to /system/app/ and some I had to install like any other apk. Just about everything works except 2 things. The dialer/phone app the ui was messed up so I had to go back to the SE version and 2nd the settings does work but some options force closes on you. ie. brightness and volume. Besides that everything else works.
I have no idea if this works for people who are not rooted. If anybody can test that would be cool...

1) Can I use this if I'm on an R800a without root?
2) If 1) is true, how do I install it?
3) Can this mess with my phone and can it be reversed?
(sorry for the noob questions)
Works great on a 2.3.2 rooted r800i.
Just installed the apk like normal an froze the se home launcher.
The music widget is gone though when using this launcher.

Hmm... good to know. I had recently switched over to the free Google Music player and that has its own widget so I didn't notice SE's music player widget gone. Unfreezing/restoring SE Home brings it back. It seems like they tied the widget into the launcher unfortunately...

I'm 99% positive it will work for a non-root user. Just download and install. When you hit the home key it will ask what you want to use for as a launcher, just pick the new launcher and check 'use by default' if you don't want that message every time you hit home. If you don't like it just go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Launcher -> Uninstall. It will default back to the old SE Home launcher next time you hit the home key. You can't screw it up because as a non-root user you cannot delete SE Home launcher.

Stock luncher not showing after Update

Asking on behalf of some friends from work after they got their updates tonight. They are running unrooted only thing not stock is they were both using go launcher or launcher pro. After the update they cant see the new blur launcher. I went through and cleared there defaults and after pressing home it is not even shown in the list to select it. Any ideas? Was thinking factory reset but if it isnt showing in the list I would think it isnt there.
What list are you talking about? Go to settings > privacy > factory reset

When no default is set and pressing home. Didnt even see it in the manage application list. One of them was wanting to do a reset anyways so Im sure she has done so already.
I recall seeing somewhere that GB automatically makes 3rd party launchers default. If they really want to see the new GB launcher they will have to uninstall LP or golauncher. Not sure about golauncher but launcher pro has a backup feature in the settings of LP.

Get CM7 Theme Chooser to work on the Vibrant

Hey guys, I really love to have some of the CM7 themes from the Android Themes forum on my Vibrant. I've downloaded a few of them to try out but it didn't seem to work. When I hit apply, my phone didn't look like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021507
Please help me! Btw i'm running CM7 nightly 56 ROM
Well first of all, you have to be using the ADW launcher included with CM7... you can't be using another launcher like Eugene373's Gingerbread launcher... then only your top menu and icons will change.
If you're downloading the apk file you want, then simply installing it, you should be able to go to you apps, select theme chooser (multi colored android guy) and then apply whatever theme it is in there.
If it doesn't work..... you must be the only one who has that problem lol. Shoot me a PM if you still can't figure it out.
ok so the top menu and icons change. How do I get the rest to work?

restart the phone after you select a new theme.
i did that and only its still just the top menu and icons
Your not using adw launcher thats why. You have to go to ur home screen, hit tbe menu key, then go to manage apps. Somewhere k there you will see launcher, you eed to select it and hit clear defaults.
Im not sure if there is an easier way maybe someone knows

Arranging Apps

Hey guys,
Is there an app that auto arranges the app drawer or a way to arrange the app drawer on my desktop somehow?
Thanks
I recommend https://market.android.com/details?id=com.abcOrganizer&hl=en been using it now ages and can access all my apps instantly after you arrange them in whatever order you want them to be in.
The main thing is that I really hate arranging apps in the normal app drawer... it takes forever. I'm looking for an fast and easy way to do it.

Which launcher do you use?
If you're using touchwiz you can try "AppZorter" in the market.
I'm using touchwiz. Just making sure I'm clear: I am looking to clean up the app drawer and not the screens.

If what you mean by clean up is to alphabetize and fill in the gaps found in the app drawer then the app I recommended earlier (AppZorter) will do the job for you.
Appzorter. Case closed.

YES!
Everything you're searching for is waiting inside the database (-files)
Just backup once you arranged your apps and simply restore after each firmware flash...

Another simplest way is Home screen -> Applications -> Menu -> List view.
It will arrange all ur apps view alphabetically.

Icons grouping error on Galaxy Tab 7.7

Hi... I've grouped icons' application in the newly created folder on my Galaxy Tab 7.7, but when the applications in the folder are updated, the icons dissepear from the folder but the applications are still installed when i checked in the applications setting. Is anyone havimg the same problem? Thank you.

known Icon issue in TW launcher
I have had the same issue, you will see the apps in the 'all' drawer but they go missing, as can entire folders of applications. The only solution is to clear the cache of the TW Launcher application. You will lose all the folder that you have set up and some of the homescreen designs, but this is the only way. To do this, open settings/applications/all tab - find TW launcher and clear the data.
I would recommend Go launcher HD - it allows use of most of the TW widgets, and is much more customisable and less laggy. Its approach to grouping icons is better IMHO than touchwiz.
Good luck.
Thanks alot, and i've tried Go Launcher n it's great. Thank you
