Please help
I have gone from 1.6 to 2.1 using the KDZ Updater and the europe open + fastboot.
It is installed because when i go into about phone it shows 2.1
However whenever i try to go into fastboot by holding the camera and power on I get a small vibrate as the phone pwrs up and then nothing , I know the screen should go black but ther is no lg logo before that. When i plug into PC and open a cmd the phone is not found and also the whole phone is not responsive and the only way to be able to do anything is to pull the battery and reboot.
Can anyone please help me It is starting to get me pi%%ed, i have followed al the instructions and just cant get it

ok first boot your phone into fastboot by pressing the power and camera if your phone is doing what i think it is doing it should look like it hasnt booted e.g. black screen then plug your phone into your usb and use command prompt or terminal if your on ubuntu and navigate to your folder that has the adb.exe and fastboot.exe
e.g. mine is
cd C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Downloads\adb+fastboot\adb+fastboot
them type
fastboot devices into command prompt that will tell you if your phone has connected into fastboot mode
http://androidforums.com/optimus-gt...2-cyanogenmod-6-1-android-2-2-here-gt540.html
I have been following this tutorial and have just typed in fastboot.exe -w and it is now saying erasing user data, in the flashing cynogen mod section, it has been going for a while i am not sure how long it should take
when i typed fastboot devices it came back with ? fastboot and nothing else
when you get the ? mark your phone is connected and you are good to go at flashing fastboot roms.

So my Vibrant has been turning off randomly. I think its because of the loose battery or maybe it's just over-heating. But a few days ago, after turning it on there is only a black screen and lit capacitive buttons at the bottom.
It boots up normal, with the vibrant name, t-mobile animation, and the Galaxy S boot animation, then black screen! This started to happen after a few reboots, and now it won't rebbot properly, just black screen. It seems like I have to restore my phone, but the problem is I cannot get the phone into recovery or download mode! Please advise.

First of all, there's no such thing as semi brick, there's brick or not. Try installing your Rom again..
Dan0zone don't be rude man,.backup your apps, enter recovery more delete all user data, if after that you have the same problem restore, or keep trying to enter download mode, try different methods

Do this bro... just tested it myself, works fine...
get adb installed on your computer, should already have it if your rooting but if not get it, youll find it in the stickied thread for informative links in the development section.
get a cmd prompt open on your computer and type in
>adb devices
let it start up deamon and it will tell you device not found, its ok.
now type and have ready...
>adb reboot recovery (do NOT press enter yet)
start your phone like normal. before its even finished with the boot up tmobile animation and the galaxy s (but after the plain vibrant text/picture) logo press enter. if it says error: device not found then wait all the way till galaxy s only you did it too early...
screen will go black and reboot into standard recovery... hope to goodness you had a working clockwork recovery installed and nandroid ready for this next part...
go down using your volume keys and select reinstall packages using the power key
now in clockwork recovery go down to nandroid
now go to restore
go to your earliest back up and restore it.
there you go.
I would start fresh get odin set up and reinstall the original rom at this point as something may still be corrupted, reroot, install latest clockworkmod, latest vibrant 9 rom (im using and see no bugs and runs better then the vibrant 6 rom i had) and DONT install the lag fix until the newest "TRUE" lag fix comes out with the new file system and kernel that JAC is working on and has almost ready.
good luck and pm me if any of these steps need further explanation.

hes just stated man that he cant even get into recovery, my guess is hes locked out using the volume up/down keys like many new phones are (which btw is a known defect, spend 10min on the phone with tmobile doing thier trouble shooting to show them it doesnt work and they send you a replacement..) sooooo I gave him a way to get into recovery without the buttons and not having to wait till he gets to a black screen where possibly its frozen and he cant use adb commands.
I was just making mention to you also that he cant even back stuff up NOW (hopefully he already archived all his apps and data) and hes better off starting fresh since hes getting problems using his current rom/lagfix....
Thanks for the quick reply p()()pypants, but i will have to try your method later. It's late and I have class (college) tomorrow, but i will post my results soon. Thank you again.
Edit 1:
Btw, is there a way to back up my current rom? Like the way rom manager back up roms? I know my current rom works before so that's why I want to back it up.
Edit 2:
Actually i did not use adb to root my phone, just used the one click method. So can you please give me more detailed instructions on how to install/use adb?
Okay, I typed in "adb reboot recovery" and press enter as my phone booted up during the t-mobile animation and at the Galaxy S boot animation. Neither time work. Then I reentered it again after the black screen. That did not work either. CMD keeps on returning "error: device not found" and the phone stays on with the black screen.

Do you have the right drivers installed? You can check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
Another very stupid question, just to cover all bases - your phone is plugged into the computer, correct? When you install the new drivers, try plugging the phone into a different USB port on the computer than you've been using, so it will hopefully pick up the new drivers without much extra effort.
If that doesn't help, just keep trying the command while the phone boots up. Maybe you'll get lucky and it will work. Sorry I don't have any real solution for you :\
I'm fairly sure I have the right drivers, otherwise I wouldn't be able to root in the first place. Yes, the phone is plugged in also. I'll try a different USB port and see what happens...
Update: Trying different USB ports does not help.
I Encountered a number of problems when trying to upgrade to DJ's V 1.2 ROM from V 1.1.1
Problem: My phone is dead, nothing. No lights at all and I cant turn the phone on obviously.
What I've tired:
1. All key combos. Holding for up to 20 sec
a. Volumes + power
b. Volume down + power
c. Volume up + power
c. Power + camera.
d. Power + camera + volumes
2. Take battery out + sim + SD let sit for 1 hour
3. Wall charge w/ battery and back in for 1 hour.
4. Wall charge w/ out sim and SD for 1 hour.
5. Phone plugged into wall with back off and no battery.
6. Phone plugged into wall with back off no battery, sim, or SD.
Still cant get it to work, charged USB and Wall charger for 3 + hours each. Phone still does not show any signs of life. The battery is not getting hot, which means maybe is not charging at all.
FIX: download PDF. Will Update with pictures later, very rough right now.
Still cant get it to work, charged USB and Wall charger for 3 + hours each. Phone still does not show any signs of life. The battery is not getting hot, which means maybe is not charging at all.
My question: is it possible to Brick my phone so bad that it cant charge? or is this possible a cable/charger problem?
I would suggest you try a different cable. your cable may be bad.
it needs the battery in and the backplate in place in order for it to boot.
try without simcard and everything else in place. make sure the backcover is firmly closed.
you might also try this: attach to pc and press power for 3 secs , stop press power for a second and then hold both power and camera button together till it does something.

If you are stuck at the Dell Logo after flashing a Rom (install Clockwork recovery if you haven't already got in installed) press the volume up and down and power - select option 2 - when it goes into clockwork - go to partition option - mount the first three options (data - system and something else) and reboot - BAM Your back in business - you don't have to do it again except if you flash another rom (sometimes - not always)

Sorry I should of explained myself...
I have tried to install 2.2 (DJ_Steve) from 2.1 when i booted into flash recovery using the following for the baseband update.
fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn (to install the baseband)
commands and rebooted my device i already had clockwork recovery installed..(used clockwork a few times in the past for other roms) after the last step using fastboot to reboot. (fastboot -i 0x413c reboot)
my device rebooted and was stuck at the dell logo ... left it like this for about 1 hour
nothing responds now ... tried booting into recovery using both volume buttons and power ... and trying to boot into fast loader no longer works.... i have pulled the battery and tried with no luck.... and also charged the device over night...
looks like I have some activity with the usb cable in windows for the ADB driver but does not respond to any fastboot commands ....
I lost count the amount of attempts to boot into fast loader mode white screen never appears just boots into dell logo...
if I try to hold down the camara button and then the power the streak will not even power up unless I pull the battery...

hum, this is different problem then I had, I could not get the screen to display anything at all.
Do you think your fix might help my situation ? as mine might aswell have a blank screen ...
Ok guys, I've attached a rough guide. I'm at work and will update w/ pictures later. It might be a bit confusing, but I will fix it later.
Hi guys, so yeah as the title says, my son got himself a blade last week and has locked himself out the device with "too many pattern attempts" ( he has no google account :S ) i was gonna do a reset in bootloader/recovery mode but i cannot get there.
I have spent all last night trawling the web looking for a work around for this to no avail. When i power up the device with volume - held i get a FMT logo in the middle of the screen, when i power up the device with home and volume + it just boots through to the google account details screen, which when i enter any google account details and hit enter it goes nowhere (heard that this is a bug?) i also have tried calling the device and tried to get in that way. Im getting seriously pissed off with it now lol, can anyone help or throw some info my way? thanks in advance.
You could try boot into Fastboot and then flash ClockworkMod Recovery via that. Then you could wipe data and flash a new ROM.
Also, do you know whether the phone is Gen 1 or Gen 2? Is it a San Francisco running on 2.1 i.e. with no modifications?
Dunno which gen it is bud, yeah it's a san fran and im pretty sure its running 2.1 and it is totally stock, no mods on it at all, i dont have the first idea on how to get into fastboot on the blade, i barely know my way round my own phone lol.
Switch off the phone . Then hold volume up and press power button . Then it enters into fastboot mode. U don't see a seperate title for fastboot mode, but it shows the same splash screen as long as it is in fastboot mode.
Once in fastboot mode, install zte USB drivers (if on windows pc). Then connect phone to of with USB cable. Now using the command prompt and adb tools, u should flash the recovery.img file which u should download seperately for ur corresponding Gen.
The fastboot command to flash recovery is
fastboot flash recovery /path/to/recovery.img
Alternatively u can flash a TPT which should give custom recovery AFAIK.

Then it should be 2.1 and Gen 1.
I think a TPT would be easier in this scenario.
See here: http://android.modaco.com/topic/337798-gen1-to-gen2-tpt-upgrade/
Thanks a lot for the help guys, but im too chicken to mess around with it lol, the wife is just gonna take it back to orange tomorrow and see what they say, if no luck with them i will look more into it, thanks again
Hi,
Please help out
Was using your Nexus 4 rootkit.. Everthing was done and phone was rooted .
Now i wanted to update the CWM. I chose the option 11 boot or flash .img files to device. I chose the cwm mako version
and decide to flash it.
Now i am asked options such as boot, bootloader, radio etc.
Here I choose Boot..(This I think I have done wrong.)
Now. Phone only boots to recovery... No matter I with on , Off I cannot go anywhere.. I go directly to CWM.
I tried your toolkit again and this said Phone needs to go in adb .. It says waiting for device..
I cannot also mount the SD card so that i can put some images in the phone...
Hence I cannot do anyhting

I don't know man. With what you have said there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get into your bootloader. If you can't you might be screwed. I flagged your thread in the RC forum. Hopefully some of them will stop by with some other ideas.

Till then anyone else can help , will be appreciated.
Can you do
Fastboot flash recovery (name).img
Then fastboot flash boot (boot).img
And then access recovery? If you are in recovery img pretty sure you can use adb. Just a suggestion.
Whatever is in your boot partition (recovery in your case) will be booted when you turn the phone on. This is why you see recovery.
Edit: you cant get into bootloader *at all?* no fastboot then?

Hi RAZOR, I read your story and it looks like it's not ALL big problems there. I'm willing to help you with that, if you want send me a PM and we talk with GTalk (give you it there), but let's see...
I would plug my cellphone on the PC (hope it works like my Xoom, as they are very similar in some points - Xoom is GED, N4 is Nexus...)
(You said it is booting on recovery), now I would use adb to continue easily...
If you are on Windows:
1 - Open a cmd
2 - cd to adb place
3 - now type adb reboot bootloader, then it would go to fast boot
Now you flash the images you downloaded
On Linux
1 - Open Terminal
2 - Download LAIOT (my tool on signature ) (only to get adb and fast boot ready for use)
3 - Now open terminal and type adb reboot bootloader, then flash the images you downloaded with fastboot
If nothing this work, send me a PM and we'll talk

I had a field day this morning with my phone also when trying to flash the stock image back. Finally got it working. The only similarity we had is that I could not mount my data or sdcard either after flashing the stock image.
However, I WAS able to get into fastboot. Should you be able to get into fastboot then RE-LOCK and UN-LOCK your bootloader and everything should work again (fixed my data and sdcard mount issue). I was then able to boot into Android and carry on.
Fastboot oem lock
fastboot oem unluck
Or use the Toolkit.
My only other suggestion would be to take off the back case and try pull the battery (haven't seen it done and not even 100% sure it can be). Maybe the battery just needs a time-out from the phone.
Hope that's some useful information for you.
Good luck.

This all still sounds very strange. Wish we could help you get it working but it doesn't look like any of the suggestions have helped. To bad you don't live in the same area as me I'd offer to try and help more.

red led bootloop unbrick procedure
1. plug phone into USB cable connected to computer
2. wait for it to go into charge animation
3. unplug, then press power button to boot, immediately press vol up + vol down.
4. hopefully you booted into bootloader mode (rinse and repeat steps 1~4 if you can't get to this point)
5. chose recovery (if your recovery is corrupted, repeat steps 1~4 and do fastboot flash recovery cwmxxx.img)
6. from recovery choose restart system
if you can't get to step 2, because N4 has a bug with battery capacity, plug your phone into AC charge and let it charge for a few mins. then restart from step 1...

So i was trying the new beta for PA android and when i was on recovery wiping as usual, the wipe process just froze there for a while, i decided to leave it till it worked again but to no avail it didnt budge at all, so i commited the ultimate sin, and powered it off by holding the power button...
when i tried again tu turn it on the tablet would go thru the google with the padlock screen and then show me a black screen with a little logo of clockworkmod and a version number below, the screen itself has no use since no matter what button i press it does nothing, other than that the tablet keeps rebooting after that.
when i try any combination of buttons to access either the real recovery or the bootloader the tablet just plain ignores that im trying to turn it on, just doesnt work, it just turns on if im not pressing anything besides the power button.
to sum up to all my problems i would love to keep trying and see if at anypoint it will turn to bootloader, i havent seen the notification of the tablet being charged... meaning that i dont know if it has enough battery to last me the remaning ideas i had.
So in a nutshell
-no bootloader
-no fastboot
-no recovery
-cant tell if battery or not
Please if anyone knows how to fix or at least get me to a bootloader i would fix everything else, but i really need the guidance here
Have you tried another charger and cable? A simple idea, but not one to over look.
Without bootloader menu or recovery, not much you can do. I'd work on getting into one of those first. Not much you can do until then.

Are you able to get adb to recognize the device with "adb devices"?

Yeah ive tried 4 other chargers, and nothing new, i know that the os itself takes care of the charging as does the recovery in some cases, but since i have non i dont know if its gonna charge at all or not and trying doesnt sound really appealing since i should save battery in case theres a solution and needs battery power
but thanks for the answer

Dont really know how to check, i mean i could get into the tools and try the command Adb Devices but how should i even begin to test? i mean shouldnt i be in a adb static platform on the device? if i try to get into bootloader it just doesnt turn on, and when it does it goes straight to the black screen with the clockworkmod symbol and numbers
Thanks for the answer

if you have enough battery and can get pc to see is thru adb. you may be able to fastboot a new rom onto the device. You can from pc Request device to go into bootloader or fast boot from the PC..
This is your only shot.. I Would suggest borrow a friends Nexus 7 Full Battery . If you do not know how to do any of this . Use skips root kit and use the unbrick or factory reset. it will force your device into fast boot and flash a new rom.
Good Luck

yeh i know how to use the skip toolkit, yet i hope i have enough battery for the test, because the only friend that i know owns a nexus 7 left the country a few months back, so the battery sounds like its gonna be hard to get. Anyways, as u were saying theres a posibility that while the tablet is rebooting and rebooting it might be able to be found on the adb devices? and use the fastboot, cuz if thats true u would be the hero ive been waiting for...
imma check and tell u later,
thanks for the answer
