Hey
I am with Vodafone Australia, recently got notified of an update... how ever have rooted my phone etc and diff firmware, so can no access it. Can anyone of vodafone tell me what it is and what are the benefits?
Cheers
I'm in the same shoe. Flashed mine already to custom rom.
Could it be the new KG firmware?? I highly doubt it thou.
Hi guys, I am with Vodafone Australia as well. I have been looking for a rooted kernel for DUKF2, but I can only see stock kernel for it. Which kernel do you use? Thank you guys, i am new for Android.
yo
just use the chainfire rooted kf2...
Before you do, goto KIES and look at what it is trying to upgrade your phone too and report back here what they are offering?
Cheers
OK, I will. The phone is updating. Will let you know. After update, I will root the phone with KF2. It is said on the Vodafone website: This update will improve its web browsing performance.
I never had any issues with web browsing before with stock, hmmm
But yeh I am running chainfire dkf2 and lighting rom now...
No big change, waiting for CM7 hopefully they bring that out soon!
Just finished update. The phone has the following status:
Baseband Version I9100DUKF
Build Number 2.6.35.7-I9100TDUKF4
Gingerbread.DUKF4.
Just played with it for a while, can't see any difference as yet.
Should I now get any Rooted Kernel of KF4 to root? Any recommand Kernel I should use?
I am no expert but, I would flash over the top of that Chainfires KF4 rooted Kernel... but read up on it. thanks
Web browsing performance is better according to the voda website

I just recently picked up a dell streak. It's brand new with what I'm guessing it the latest shipped rom which is build number 15274 running android version 2.2.2
All I see is custom roms and reflashing back to other roms to root....blah blah blah...is there a way to just root my current rom and not have to flash a completely new one? I'm all for supporting the community, I'd just like to keep this as device as clean as possible and remove all the bloatware.

Download SuperOneClick v1.5.5 and root away. Dont forget to put your phone into USB debugging mode before rooting, its very important that you do that. Or just follow the steps in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925853 good luck.
Wow thanks, I totally skipped over that post!!! I guess from what I was reading I was expecting the whole process to be a lot more complicated.
Thanks a ton!
Anytime.

How come Dell don't push out the 2.2.2 version OTA to their customers?
I check for updates every day, but have just once received any. (2.2)
Their way of saying; "we just don't give a f*ck about our customers"?
You should have gotten that update weeks ago. It's been OTA for probably about a month now. And I don't know how much you've read, but a lot of what happened with not updating from 1.6 was probably AT&T's fault because they wouldn't okay the build (speculated). Dell had the source up for 2.2 for a long time, if I remember correctly.
I'm on unlocked stock EU ROM since day one. Just to clarify.
Do you mean the 2.2.2 was shipped OTA, for EU users too?
Ohhh. Didn't notice you were on EU. I don't know if Dell released one for EU yet (probably hasn't since you don't have the option to OTA). Just remember that it's not just the phone maker responsible for updates, the carrier has some say in it, too. Are you still on 1.6? Because you could always try out DJ Steve's ROM if you wanted to try something different.
No, the one OTA update I received, was the 1.6 --> 2.2 on last October.
Since then - nothing. I guess it's only in America people get the 2.2.2.
Thanx for taking time to reply.
No problem, haha. I hope you get it soon
I really want the update to, I'm in the Uk and I'm still on 2.2, I would do it myself but its just to complicated and don't wanna mess up my phone. Has anyone in the Uk got the 2.2.2 upgrade? And to be honest I really wont the 2.3 upgrade, but seeing as we still don't have the 2.2.2 upgrade, I think we'll be waiting a long time :'(
2.2.2?
If someone updated from 1.6, to the "non official" 2.2, is there any difference between it and 2.2.2?
2.2.2 is supposedly immune to the malware loaded from the 50 or so infested apps that Google removed recently from the market.
So i've got an Galaxy SII here in Brazil, it's from Claro and strangely has the HKE2 BASEBAND, HKE4 Kernel.
I read somewhere that 2.3.4 was already avaliable if you had Sammy's retail FW, not Claro's modded crap.
By the time i got home to download it all the post had been removed so i missed the opportunity.
If anyone could point me in the right direction i'd be damn happy!
As far as my knowledge goes i remember reading that swapping from this "custom" to the official would not violate EULA nor my warranty, and that i'd be able to do it without having to root the phone.
Go to the development section, there is a thread by, Intarech (spelling may be wrong) that thread contains what you are looking for.

TY for the directions.
And a bonus here, i just found out i have a franken-phone.
Checking the Carrier-specific firmwares i bumped into some trouble lol.
My phone is from Brazilian's Claro BUT build is technically a Chillean version.
Check this out:
PDA: UHKE4 is Chile-based
PHONE: UHKE2, well, ok.
Now here's the interesting bit, the CSC is ZTAKE2 wich is NOT LISTED ANYWHERE!
Will i have trouble if i flash this one below?

I was using it, found no issues at all.
You can also try flashing UHKG7 from http://www.samfirmware.com to get Android 2.3.4
(Even more strange is that the page says it's from Brazil, but SamFIT says it's from Chile too.)
EDIT:
This is the same FW from samfirmware

Any special difference from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4?
'Cause i'm looking forward at 2.3.6 already
I've found some minor UI tweaks so far, nothing major.
About 2.3.6 I think it will take a while to arrive at stock roms, maybe sooner with CM7 or MIUI only.
Updated successfully!
No issues whatsoever!
tyvm dandroid13!
So...
No problems whatsoever with 2.3.4?
No 3g data on/off problems on UHKG4 modem? I read that some guys were having some issues on getting 3g data back on after losing signal for whatever reason.
Can you confirm that everything works fine?
I just got an SGS II from Claro and I´m thinking of flashing it with this ROM to get rid of all that Claro crap (and get some original stuff back, like GTalk).
Can you hint me with the specific thread on how to flash SGS II with this ROM?
Thanks a lot.

So, the UHKE4 rom i flashed as avaliable from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 (manual included there) is a 2.3.3.
Again, mine was bought THE DAY AFTER it was released here in Brazil, in late June so it has the hw version from Chile.
Aside from that it's all fine and dandy!
The major difference from the 2.3.4 FW is that you don't get Folha and Livraria Cultura apps.
Since I received my N7000 on November 17, 2011 from Mobilecityonline my Galaxy Note won't update. It's running UBKK2 - the CSC is TTT - which a Brazilian CSC.
I've searched every thread and correctly followed every step of the process I've found unsuccessfully, I've tried the manual update and receive "no update available" every time I read about a new firmware release. The CSC is listing only 3 codes; VNO, TTT, and TDR - I installed each one of these CSC codes in an attempt to prompt a software update to no avail. I haven't even gotten the update from January that provided the addition of the Torch & everything that came with it!
Short of rooting my Note is there anything I can do to either change the CSC Code to one that receives updates regularly or manually update the firmware? I thought I'd wait until ICS became available hoping that would correct these issues but I'm slowly getting PO'd that I may not be even to receive ICS.
Plus I didn't/don't see the reason to have rooted by now - I've rooted all of my Android devices from HTC EVO 4G's & 3D's, Nook Color, to Asus Transformers. Is there anything I can do without rooting this beast and will I even receive Ice Cream Sandwich?
I'm begging for help please. I'd sincerely appreciate ANY help and I'm willing to donate to anyone that will help achieve everything I'm missing out on to date.
Thank you in advance,
Jim G.
If keeping it stock is all you want, just download one of the stock firmwares and flash it with odin.
You may have to be a member to see this link but.....
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-N7000&r=6#regiona
^^^
They are the South Amercian firmwares currently out, but the European ones are newer if you want to try those.
Wow that was fast!
Wow! Thank you for the super fast reply. Can I D/L and use any stock firmware, I was hoping to use either the UK or German versions cuz they look like they get updates more often than the rest. If I'm wrong I stand corrected - could you please point out a version to use or am I stuck using the BZ version forever?
Oh Lord I hope not! * Forgive me - I saw you suggested the EU versions after I hurried to reply, my fault! *
Again, Thank You in advance,
Jim G.
Brazil Note.
I too have a Note with a ROM from Brazil. Since this is my first Android phone and I'm a noob so far, what will it take to get mine over to a euro one. Will this brick my phone? What region do you recommend for a US user? I understand that you meant Europe, but there a lot of choices like open, open euro or open germany or europ or german. Any directions or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
flshing a firmware for another region is fine... I offen just update to whereever has the newest update
But if i update to a stock rom from another country without changing csc, will i be able to update via kies whenever a newer csc update gets release online for my country? I got this ideia it wont be possible and will still need to change it again via Odin. It bother me if it wipes my phone each time i update. Still in kka/5 here with unlocked phone...

After updating to another regions ROM, You can just Odin back to the original stock ROM if you really wanted to, to restore KIES function for the original configuration.
But to be honest, the only time I ever have, is just for warranty purposes, I don't touch kies in any shape or form, there really is no need.
The way I work is, I like to use the stock ROMs, but rooted etc... So, when I got the phone, I rooted it, put the ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM) on and now I just update my ROM with the repacked stock versions made to be flashed with CWM. They are exactly the same ROMs but rooted and deodexed, some I "believe" are multi CSC too.
Swyped from my finger, to your face on my Samsung Galaxy Note, using Tapatalk!
Thank you for all the help! I'm choosing to use the open-Germany (DBT) stock ROM cuz I've been keeping track of the ROM that was updated the most. I found it to be the German and UK versions but it seems the open-German edges it out.
I've got it all D/L'd and am actually waiting to get my notebook up and running after a CPU upgrade. Once I receive the thermal paste updating my Beast is the 1st order of business!
It sucks that the UBKK2 firmware never allowed any kind of an update, it makes me wonder if I'd even get the ICS update when it's released on March 15 or shortly thereafter. Of course that's according to the rumor mill and I'm simply referring to that since the SGSII's received their ICS earlier today according to SanFirnware.
So who knows? Again, I thank everyone fir their help and input.

Are you wanting to root it or just upgrade the firmware? Have you ever used Odin?
Try connecting to kies if you just want to upgrade firmware.

I:silly:'ve only done that stuff on my old iPhone, but when i switched to android it was like coming from north korea to china. Its just so much freedom I've never experienced before and i'm super happy i'm here( china i guess) but i couldn't imagine what america freedom feels like...and i'm guessing having it rooted and flashing custom Kernel would be like coming to america. I doubt ill ever get around to using those things to there full potential, so i guess ill just upgrade the firmware... unless you have movies or stories of the freedom im missing i doubt ill venture out to go find it. thank you for your info and looking forward to your reply

No custom kernel for us. We have a locked bootloader. We do have custom Roms. I would root but that is just me. I dislike all the bloatware if nothing else. You don't have to use your phone any differently but you never know when you will come across a great app or something and it requires root.
You are on the right firmware for root. Install towelroot, make it rain, download SuperSU from the playstore, install and update the binaries (it will ask you to) choose the normal method. Reboot your phone and you are rooted. I would go a step further and download busybox from the play store, install the app then install busybox, then install safestrap which is our custom recovery.
You can still just run a stock ROM if you wish but you now have the ability to change your phone to a certain degree. At least get rid of some bloatware. Otherwise, I'd try kies first and see if it will update your phone.

im planning on installing a custom rom at the very least since the stock rom is giving me some software glitches. i wanted to know if theres any problem with the new update that would prevent me from rooting, or is just best to update to the newest version while its still on stock

if your talking about the AT&T XT2 it can be rooted on any version
problem right now is Huawei's bootloader unlock page is gone and you'll have to try DC unlocker to pay for a bootloader unlock
I was talking about the original XT, I updated since I see most of the road support the latest version
