So I went to bestbuy today to officially make a decision on a tablet. I was seriously considering the Flyer, 10.1, Touchpad, Xoom (especially with the price drop), and and the iPad 2.
Long story short, after playing with everything for like an hour, I walked out with a xoom. I had almost written it off because of everything I had read about the screen. With all the terrible things being said about it I was almost expecting a dim misery of an LCD ala the Velocity Cruz.
But I must say after using it at bestbuy I was really surprised. The screen is very clear, more than bright enough, even at bestbuy, and the colors are fine. I then spent some time with the 10.1, and had my eyes blown out. The colors where WAY over-saturated and blown out. I can see why people like it, but the colors aren't accurate. I think this is same syndrome people have when the see super amoled screens, and why they leave their tv's on "dynamic" Just because the colors are more saturated doesn't mean they're better. The xoom looked much more natural to me with its warmer display and more muted colors.
And now that I have it home, im very happy with my choice. It feels so well built. I didn't need the thinness and lightness of the 10.1, I like having the build quality. The screen has ZERO backlight bleed (take that apple!), and I can't find any dead pixels, dust, or anything like that. Im not trying to "justify" my purchase here, like im sure some will say. I could have easily bought a 10.1 or an iPad 2 if I wanted. But I just liked the xoom the best, screen and all.
So does anyone else actually like this screen, or is it just me?
I'm perfectly satisfied with my Xoom's screen, too.
I've read that there are 2 screen parts used and that one is not as good. Glad I got the good one.
I am happy with my Xoom's display as well. I often watch HD movies on it, and it looks great. It doesn't seem to "pop" like some samsung screens, or some amoled screens I've seen on a few htc devices, but it is by no means faulty. I personally love the vivid popping colors on the previously mentioned devices, but, again, I am happy with my Xoom as well.
Also, I find a lot of people complain about things such as this out of jealousy(they are mad because they don't have said device, so make up excuses to justify it) or fanboyism(Htc is the best ever. Moto screens suck!!), or some other various reason that holds no merit.
Lastly, the people who are satisfied generally aren't as vocal, so you don't see as many threads started by them. However, when someone finds the smallest problem such as one miniscule dust particle, viewed only by microscope, under the glass of their device, the obvious step is to all caps rage on the forums, demand justice, expect a free replacement of a far superior device, etc.

I love my Xoom screen too. Especially at sixty percent to full brightness, the Xoom screen is plenty saturated and true. I'm a painter, and I use my Xoom as my portfolio, so it has to be good.
I also am very satisfied with the screen quality and its warm colors. The brightness isn't as high as some other tablets but its enough to satisfy my needs. I usually have it set to auto brightness anyways, save for when watching shows or movies. As mentioned, I too really appreciate the build quality of the xoom and the weight did not bother me at all. Although now that I have an otterbox defender on it, the weight pretty much doubled and not to mention how beastly thick it is with it on.

I'm also satisfied with my screen. My only issue is that the Auto brightness is too dark - that might be the reason why most people seeing a Xoom for the first time think the screen look washed out, without having checked how brightness was adjusted.
Regarding the mention there might be two different screen - any facts to support this? If so, any way to distinguish the two manufacturers?
Humans are more fond towards colors that pop and are bright even if they aren't accurate.
The xoom screen is fine and well worth the price at the new price point @ $500.

There are a lot of topics here about the two different screens, search. You can find out what screen you have by typing "dmesg" in terminal and look for line that contains lcd. I have a Sharp screen. A Xoom that i returned because of toutch screen problems had a AUO screen.

I believe terminal here means either command prompt from your pc while connected to your Xoom in debug mode or using the Terminal emulator app.
I suppose to test it, just download Terminal Emulator from the market and run it. Then type dmesg on the dos-like blue screen that appears. A whole bunch of text will appear and you just look for a line that describes lcd.
This should be familiar to you if you know how to use DT a2sd.
AWWW
I have AUO, I still think the screen is fine though. My screen has zero light bleed what so ever so I guess that is good.
Thank you musashiken, I 'll try it out.

Yes, use Terminal emulator from Market.
It's a good idea to restart your Xoom before you type dmesg (you will get a lot of text if you don't restart and it's possible you will not find the line you are looking for).

I'm currently playing with Thrive, xoom, and tab 10.1. Im comparing the display side by side and tab 10.1 looks better and sharper, no matter what you say. The speaker quality on tab 10.1 blows away both of them. Other than those extra connector found on xoom and more on thrive, tab 10.1 win hands down in rest of the other departments. Also, the display of Toshiba thrive is better than xoom and speakers sound decent to. Its not about jealousy. If you try them side by side then you better understand what's beat for you. I know its not possible all the time but at least sometimes when there are $500 - $600 involved and return policy without restocking fee is available, go for it and take your decision based on that.

Hmmm. Well it seems I have the AUO screen as well. What kind of problems are they having? Mine looks pretty good, like I sad no light bleed or anything. The only thing I can see is a slight scanline affect that you can sometimes see on cheaper lcd's, i'v seen it on cheap laptops before.
Not sure that justifies a return but has anyone else noticed it?
i just sold mine i am buying the tab10.1 today
Did some searching. Looks like the sharp screen had better color and contrast but also has a massive amount of backlight bleed, where as the AUO has worse contrast and color but has zero backlight bleed. I have a feeling the one on display at bestbuy was a sharp, but the bleed was invisible due to the overhead lights.
I use mine in the dark allot so I cant stand bleed, I have no interest in trying to get a sharp screen. It looks like AUO also makes screens for cheap laptops, witch would explain why I can see the scanlines you see on cheap laptops lol. I have 14 days to see if ill be satisfied the AUO screen. If not I guess I can always trade for the oversaturated Samsung

Oh and to really make your life easier, type "dmesg | grep lcd".
This will extract text that contain "lcd" and you don't have to scroll through all the text to look for it.
And seems like I got the AUO screen.. well I'm fairly satisfied with it but seeing that I'm not american and I imported my Xoom, I'll have to live with it no matter what.

So, I've been taunted by the Acer the day before launch at BB and had someone open one up to demo for me. After somehow avoiding the purchase I did more research and found the Asus release date and figured I'd wait. Well we all know how that went..
Anyhow as I sit here reading thread after thread deciding on the Acer now, or Asus later, I am torn about the screen quality. I have heard many things like "as good as Ipad" "way better than Xoom" the amazingly grammatically correct; "it Sux" or just "terrible"
I don't care about the dock....at all. Battery life, build quality and screen crispness i do care about.
I'm hoping this thread can be to discuss the goods and bads about the screen in as unbiased a way as possible. I would love for people who have interacted with both chime in!
The screen "quality" is fine. Text looks great (read for over an hour with no eyestrain). Videos look good. Viewing angles are even fine, which is unusual for a TFT.
But the glare!!! Yikes. I realize that the glare probably has more to do with the glass than the screen technology, but the bottom line is that they both contribute to my enjoyment, or lack thereof, of the screen.
I have a Nook Color and I can place the A500 and the NC right next to each other and the difference is dramatic in terms of glare. Sure, the NC has some reflection, but it's a great deal more muted than then A500 which is practically a mirror.
I don't have any particular problem with the screen. It looks sharp. Runs in 1280x800 resolution.
Some people complain about the grid that can be visible, but I have NEVER seen it during normal use. I didn't even know what people were talking about until I held it at weird angles directly under a light source (as in...10 inches away from my lamp).
The thing is a finger-print magnet though, so if you have OCD issues with that sort of thing you will always need to be replacing screen protectors or having a microfiber cloth in your back-pocket.
I picked one up from bestbuy a few days ago. The screen is very nice. The grid does bother me, but it's not often that I see it.
Games look good, videos look good. Everything is snappy
I don't have a transformer or an ipad to test it against but I think the acer is worth buying if you don't care about the keyboard dock on the transformer.
The screen itself is very good with decent colour and contrast with excellent viewing angles. As others have said though, you do get glare from the high gloss glass panel and it attracts fingerprints when you just go near it. With the right lighting direction I can see the grid in the same way I have seen it on virtually all capacitive screens.
Would I use any of this against the A500? - no. These issues are minor to me but I can see how for some they would be a more major issue.
I think the quality is really good but could use some tweaking. Why in the world are there no apps that allow you to tweak gamma contrast color and all that? Calibrating would make it much better but for some reason we are expected to keep it as delivered?
Also slightly unrelated, has anyone noticed if you use a 1280x800 image as a wallpaper it looks liek crap? What resolution do we need wallpapers to be in? The stock ones are too borring.

Look, the IPS display is "better"....that's that. If you need something with a gorgeous screen, wait.
Is the A500 screen terrible, bad, etc.? Not by a long shot. It's bright, crisp and the viewing angles are very, very good. The 'grid' you read people referring to, is barely visible and you'll only notice it on very lightly colored, black or white backgrounds, and that's with your face plastered to the screen. It isn't a deal breaker for many people but it might be for you. If you can afford to wait, wait....and make an informed decision and one you won't regret once you're able to compare them side by side. Unlike the TF, the A500 is in supply and I doubt they'll be running out any time soon so time and supply are on your side (for the Acer, anyway).
here are a few pictures of the iconia and transformer screens. Pics are captured by motorola atrix camera. Hope it can help with the buying decision.

hahaha, nice to have a neighbor on this forum. Yep, the transformer has the best screen but the iconia is not that bad. I got my TF at Fry's. I saw an employee there carried 3 TFs to the stock room. I jumped on them right away, got one for my best friend and one for my brother. Both of them want the TF so bad. As for me, I am settled with the iconia at Best Buy. I just like the build quality and how it feels in my hands. If I knew, I could have got the last TF for you
appreciate the thought
I'm still deciding between android or I pad. I really feel I pads polish in multimedia is a big plus. I'm trying my roommates xoom and youtube doesn't even run without stutter :/
Netflix is nice on I pad too
I do love the PC I sh feel of android. Much more customizable
Back light bleed through
Some transformer owners have complain about back light bleed through when watching videos.
hey in the past week i have tested the view sonic gtablet , the archos 101 and the playbook . the view sonic and the archos dont even come close to what the acer is i picked up the acer after i saw it at best buy today and i was impressed i also picked up the xoom last week but returned it after 24 hrs because the price 599 was on my mind the whole time i was playing with it .
the screen i feel is like the apple ipad which i have . i really can not notice the difference. and if anyone is thinking about the gtab and the archos dont get them if your not holding it at the right angle all the time your not going to see much.
I had the gtablet for 3 weeks and recently sold it and picked up the Acer A500 yesterday. I was also comtemplating on buying the Xoom at Bestbuy, but after playing with both tablets I couldn't justify spending the extra $ on the xoom so I went with the Acer and so far so good. It's like night and day compared to my old gtablet.

LoL. Please clean the screen of the Iconia What a difference...
I'm a Transformer owner, but over the weekend I had a chance to play with both the Xoom and the Iconia in store.
The screen on the Tranformer is definitely the best of all three tablets, and this was clearly evident even without having the Transformer to hand to compare side by side.
However, I would still rate the Iconia's screen as "very good" (the Transformer's screen would be rated "excellent"), and significantly better than the screen on the Xoom (which I would rate as just "ok").
Regards,
Dave
P.S. Just an FYI, but I'm keeping an eye on the Iconia forums because I'm thinking about getting an A100, not to troll regarding A500/Transformer comparisons!
if you want to see the real difference between the Iconia and Transformer, take a pic from the side with about a 150 deg angle.

It not a regular TFT screen , in fact there are 4 differents technologies ( TN, MVA, PVA, IPS )
Acer choosed PVA for the A500 , it provides the highest contrast ever measured on a tablet (1126:1) when the Ipad and its IPS Screen is rated (960:1) , but the latency is not as good as its competitors (even if asus came out with a trick , to correct that , by inserting a black picture every 3 images )
People tends to think that IPS is superior , but in fact it depends of the usage.
A500's screen might not be the best screen in the world , but it is for sure a very good one.
Does anyone know if Motorola plan on releasing something to change the gamma/saturation/contrast on the Xoom? I love everything about it and own one, except for the fact everything looks washed out. I assume this would be a easy fix for someone to implement something similar to a monitor where you can pick the color temp of the device 5700k 9700k ect.
This is becomming a deal breaker to me as I watch a lot of videos and the colors look horrible.
It is definitely on the cool side, but far from horrible. With all the customization offered by android you would think screen preferences would be available.
I use an app called Color Filter Settings".
I measured my WiFi-only XOOM with a GretagMacbeth Eye One Colorimeter, and its color performance and gamma curves were actually pretty stellar. I also used these test images to visually inspect the picture. Using the LCD test images, the only faults I could find are the less than perfect viewing angles and (very) slow pixel response times typical of VA panels.
For reference, I am a photographer and have several D6500K calibrated monitors (2x Dell 2408 WFP (b) and 1x Dell FPW 2405).

yeah, just eyeballing it and i thought the xoom was pretty good. it hold shadows well, but washes out in the highlights. the transformer is waaaay too cool. some whites and light blues come out looking purple. it doesn't hold shadows as well but highlights are better.

The Xoom's screen is sub-par. Why do people on this forum alway's try to make someone who draw's a problem about the Xoom feel like they are less intelligent? Every intelligent person know's the Xoom's screen is washed out... How about reading the reviews ? One of the only negative's about the Xoom is it's screen and video capabilities. As why this thing barely sells.
Put it next to the iPad2 or Playbook and see how crappy the Xoom's screen is. No need to do "specials tests" blah blah it's easy to see. It's a BIG difference. What you expect tho ? The Xoom has alot more going for it so i'm not surprised they didn't get the best panel.

Not quite... The reason other displays look "better" to your eyes is that they are calibrated to look appealing rather than accurate.
Do yourself a favor and take a look at a Motorola Droid. Now look at a Samsung Nexus S. Your tastes will probably favor the Nexus S's screen. However, I would far prefer the screen on the Droid, as it is much more accurate and better calibrated.
There's no right or wrong screen here, as it's all user preference. The Droid, like the XOOM, has an extremely well calibrated, accurate screen. They aren't shockingly vibrant nor does they have incredibly high contrast. However, if they were incredibly vibrant and had really high contrast, other users (such as myself) would call the image gaudy.
Bottom line is that if the XOOM looks wrong to you, you're not used to looking at well calibrated screens.
(Note: I'm only speaking from my own personal WiFi-only XOOM. I am not aware of how much variability there is screen-to-screen on XOOMs.)

Hmm... That's strange. If you click the LCD Image tests I have linked earlier, specifically the white saturation, how does your XOOM do? Mine reveals 254 as well as any of my calibrated monitors. I'm wondering if this means that there is a good deal of screen variability.

I thought the LCD is AUO or SHP also matters. Mine is SHP which stands for "Sharp", problem is potential light leak. Correct me if I am wrong though.
Also, I hand my left hand carring ipad 2 and right hand carring Xoom (because right hand is my stronger hand) last weekend,
Screen-wise, if you turn xoom brightness higher, those two screens looks same to me.
Btw, ipad 2 IPS screens also has infinite finger-prints too...
Only challenge appeared to me when I put these two head-to-head compare, was apps.
We definitely need more sexy slick powerful Honeycomb apps!

The screen is just as good as any regular average computer monitor.
Transformer= cheap p.o.s. build quality & ****ty battery (tablet only, who really cares about it's performance as a netbook? if i wanted one i'd buy one)
Ipad2= nice, but like being on house arrest, or watching tv with everything over PG on parental lock. far too many limits.
I'm very happy with my Xoom and it's "bad" screen.
Hi all,
Well the first thing i did when i set my Xoom up was turn off Auto Brightness as i do on all my devcies and turned brightness on full and found the screen on the Xoom to be bright and sharp. Then i strated reading all these posts about how poor the Xoom screen was and just couldn't understand it at all as my experiences are totally different. Only when i turned on the Auto brightness did i suddenly see what the compliants where about as it made the screen horrible. But really the fix is so simple just don't use Auto brightness and its all good IMHO.
Marc
Actually, if you read carefully through the test results, none of the displays did all that well. What really put the XOOM screen in last place was screen reflections and poor viewing angles, in most other critical tests, results were equal to or close to the competition.
If you put an anti-reflective screen protector on the XOOM, it compensates well for the XOOM's biggest shortcoming, screen reflections - (I use Boxwave Cleartouch Anti-Glare on the XOOM) the difference is pretty amazing and the screen looks quite good.
I am surprised that these professional reviewers made no mention of the two versions of the XOOM screen. So we don't even know which screen version they reviewed.
i llike the zoom screen. With autobrightness on.
Yep, I've turned off auto-brighness and have an anti-glare, anti-fingerprint screen protector and I've never looked back. I have zero complaints about the screen now.
Who actually compares screens side by side? It's a bit like a ****-length contest. I'm happy with mine but I don't feel the need to wave it about next to others to impress....

+1. I completely agree. This whole thread seems like not much more than an exercise to justify someone's choice to sell the Xoom for another tablet.

I went to Bestbuy on Sat and looked at the SGT10.1 and iPad 2, played with both for a good few minutes, I'd say the iPad is at the top in terms of screen crispness and picture quality, iPad OS in general is very polished ... the SGT and Xoom imo is a close second, I have an anti glare protector on my Xoom so it does reduce the picture quality obviously. As said above set the brightness to 50-60% and you will see the Xoom screen pop.
All in all the Xoom will stay with me for two reasons ... SD card access (I have mine rooted so no crying about lack of SD access) and 2ndly it is so versatile having access to ROM's and Kernels, this kills my desire to ever want an iPad, I hate to be boxed in.
It's funny, the screen was one of the major reasons I returned my iPad2. I hated it because the resolution was too low, which made text look horrible.
The Xoom screen is brilliant as long as you take the brightness off auto.

That! Think that this was the first thing that I did on my Xoom.
I was using an ipad 2 the other day and yes the screen is far clearer but my xoom feels more like a mans toy rather then a childs toy.
dont mind having a worse screen when my battery lasts 4 days and i can do what i want with it and not controlled my apple.
also wouldnt get the transformer due to the speaker locations makes it to wide.

i love my xoom. i came from the viewsonic gtab so i naturally love the xoom screen compared to the gtab.

I totally agree. There will always be something bigger ( so to speak) and better what I find funny is that they didn't mention the bleeds and dust specks people are having on those other screens. There screen might be better but mines clearer oh and it works like it suppose to.

I think it's silly the "guru" of displays didn't review the GTab 10.1, since it's using a PLS screen which is Samsung's competitor to IPS.
Regarding the 'comparison' comments however: I was recently seated next to a woman on a flight from NYC and she had an iPad2. As I sat there and looked at a magazine on my xoom, I couldn't help but notice that her screen had outstanding viewing angles. When I put the xoom onto my lap and looked at it, the colors washed out and looked terrible. I ended up returning it and bought a GTab instead.
So - I think comparisons are valid, here. Especially in an environment where a direct comparison could be made. In my case it was on a plane, where I happen to be a lot.
The GTab's screen is fantastic. As good as the iPad2. The build quality on my unit is fine, but there are a lot of complaints about dust under the screen, and so on. I would gladly go back to the 'thicker' xoom if they came out with a higher quality screen. The xoom felt great. But in the end, the screen sucked (I had the Sharp with bad light leakage) and that was, in a word, unacceptable - no matter how many people trumpet out that screen bleeding on tablets is normal. It's not.
I think it is well known now that the A500 displays poor color saturation. I am wondering if there is either a third party app or a custom ROM that allows me to fix this issue?

It is? I didn't know (or notice) that. What sources are you referencing?
Not to me, I am very satisfied with the A500 colour saturation
i dont know I get great colors and saturation , now I would say the camera isnt all that good but I dont really use the camera so it doesnt matter to me
Must not be very well known.
Mine looks great too
Like mine too

I am basing this off my personal observations as well as many others who have noted the same issue online.
Displaymate reviewed the screens of all android tablets a while ago and confirmed user observations that the A500 demonstrates poor color saturation. You can read the article here (http://www.displaymate.com/Acer_Iconia_ShootOut.htm).
You can also find many others who note the same issue with this model if you search Google. It should be apparent if you compare your tablet to other displays unless they are of an equal caliber.
I doubt it is the actual LCD hardware which is causing the problem, which is why I asked if there was a software solution where you can adjust display settings like saturation, contrast, etc.
The A500 does not have the greatest screen. No, I am not going to hold my breath and cry about ICS not here yet, no, I won't start a faceyspace petition, no, I'm not going to claim I'm putting my A500 on Craigslist.
I love my A500 and plan to keep it a long time.
But the screen is not that great. It does not have the best contrast (blacks being really black and not gray), it could be brighter, the colors a little more saturated.
But it's a tradeoff. No Android tablet is the best at everything, and I chose the A500 because it did have a lot of features I wanted compared to the others. The cameras, the 2 different sized USB ports, the construction, yada yada yada.
You MIGHT find some software tweak that could possibly adjust the screen a little, but you're really up against a hardware limitation. Compare your screen to a mirrored hdmi signal to a good TV. It's the screen. It's not great.
The only issue i have with the display on my a500 . When we are in bed Reading .. my better half complains that my screen is to bright. She tells me to roll over so its not blaring in her eyes or turn it down. IT Needs to go lower brightness.
everyone who i have seen my tablet say its looks amazing. I to will be using my a500 for quite some time.I See no need to jump onto a new device 450.00 and 1 year old. i want a 17.3 I7 Laptop next .Would get check book taken away if i try buying both.
Just a cheap screen, want better color performance step on over to a top tier tablet.
It's a 262k colour screen. What do you expect?

After spending time with a super AMOLED plus screen, I can't say the Acer screen is anything more than adequate in any catagory. And compared to other Android tablets, Samsung is at the top... in fact, they're at the top everywhere. Even the new iPad, since Sammy makes that screen, too.

Search for Rootdim, problem solved.
If you understand Russian, read here - it's a detailed comparative review of tablet displays.
so I guess the OP walked into a store with a fist full of cash and blindly bought a tablet.....the slightest amount of research would have found this tablets screen is no show stopper

I purchased this tablet about a year ago before the Transformer came out and the only other HC option at the time was the Xoom, which was a hundred dollars more expensive than the A500.
I did notice at the time that the color saturation on the A500 was slightly poorer than the Xoom when I purchased my tab in the store but that that difference didn't seem to overcome the price gap at the time. It is a minor issue I have with my tablet and no, I do not plan to see my tablet which I have owned for a year just because of it - I simply wanted to know if there was a way to adjust it which is why I created this post.
I don't understand why everyone here wants to attack and question me with rude or snarky comments which are OT. I am not attacking anyone or anything I am simply making an observation and asking if there is any way around it.

sorry just read a topic in here that got me moody, I have really only seen color modification on led screens i could be wrong, but i think what you see is what you get
Well I just got my Nexus 4 yesterday and immediately noticed that the lower part (about third) of the screen was very slightly more yellow, the whole right edge slightly more dark and overall the screen looked a bit washed out compared to other Nexus 4's I've seen in shops on display.
This is a long long running problem with LCD screens that the manufacturers probably don't really care about because most people sadly (for the rest of us) don't care enough about screen uniformity when using their phone to reject it and send it back for replacement or refund when they get a dud. It's a *ginormous* pain in the crank shaft for me because I just think it's slipshod manufacturing reinforced by people who just "make do". Anyway..... I digest....
I've already contacted Google Play to request a replacement to be sent out and will keep doing so until I a) Get a phone with acceptable uniformity i.e. uniform whites on web pages, google books, uniform solid colours elsewhere or b) I give up trying if I don't get an acceptable replacement.
I know it's possible to make LCD screens with great quality and uniformity because Apple do it and the HTC One X has one of the best screens I've ever seen. These two have, as far as I've seen also had the same issues. It seems like a *very* widespread issue and an odd one at that.
So what's the reason? Why is it happening? How can we, the consumer, make it stahp!

tbh thats a characteristic of IPS panels. You will get some form of light bleed pretty much on all IPS panels. If you don't want that, then go with a phone that has an OLED display.

I'm coming from Galaxy S1 and that's 2 years old. It's starting to burn in quite noticeably now. The HTC One X IPS screens in shops now (I've checked quite a lot in different places) are very very good and very uniform now.
Anyone know who manufactures the HTC One X screens?

Like I said, you can't escape it for the most part. All the phones that you see are probably at reduced brightness settings in a well lit area. Go into a pitch black area and turn the brightness to 100%, you will see either IPS glow or some sort of bleed. I've owned a couple of Dell Ultrasharp monitors and all of them have had either a little bit of bleed or IPS glow.

Sitting right in front of a dell utrasharp, yep, true! But it doesn't bother me! Same for the n4.
I have the same "problem." I don't care.
I'm not sure understand peoples need to spend all that time and energy repeatedly RMA-ing their phone. Unless its significantly hindering the use of the device; deal with it.

If apple can keep some uniformity amongst it's iphone displays over manf. can (and probably do) so I voted "they don't care".
That being said my n4 has been great with minimal light bleed, same as my IPS monitors.
I voted dont no, dont care.
I don't care either. But Im color blind.
R: AAAAAaaaaaargh! Dam u LCD Manufacturers!

My n4 is also yellower on the bottom half. I wouldn't fuss over that..its like that with every N4. If you want a perfect phone pay more and get an iPhone

Actually mine is getting better
I dont know why
There are used to be 2 thumb sized yellowished spots at the bottom screen
Still show up sometimes when the device is hot

Well it's that attitude that's causing the manufacturers to make phones with a "don't really care" attitude towards the quality of the display. What's hard to understand? If I want to view a white page reading books or surfing in Chrome I want all of the screen to be "white" not the top two thirds white and the bottom third slightly brighter and noticeably tinted "yellow". These phones *are* their screens - surely the thing that you're using MOST on the phone and interacting with needs to do it's job properly and display uniform colours and uniform brightness. I understand that manufacturing panels to this specification takes possibly more effort but the reason they don't seem to bother seems to be down to people just accepting any old crap that they give us. Which is your choice - but not mine and not a lot of other peoples' choice either. You might not agree but surely you can "understand"?
I notice and care.. but I have forced myself to not care any more
