How to manually view/adjust low memory killer settings via adb or terminal
View...
Code:
adb shell
cat /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree
You should get output values that look like this...
Code:
1536,2048,4096,5120,5632,6144
(These are the Android default values)
To modify...
Code:
adb pull /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree
Replace the values with those that meet your needs (see below), then..
Code:
adb push minfree /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters
Code:
moderate=1536,3072,4096,7680,8960,10240
Code:
optimum=1536,2048,4096,10240,12800,15360
Code:
strict=1536,2048,4096,15360,17920,20480
Code:
aggressive=1536,3072,4096,21000,23000,25000
Code:
extreme=1536,3072,4096,38400,40960,43520
Code:
ultimate=1536,3072,4096,51200,57600,64000
These values came from Darktremor's A2SD thread
=========================
How to manually scale cpu frequency
To adjust the maximum CPU frequency (over clock)
Code:
adb pull /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
change the value to whatever 6 digit value that you want (i.e. 710400 or 768000) and save.
Code:
adb push scaling_max_freq /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq
The same process can be used to scale the minimum CPU frequency but the file to modify is called...
Code:
scaling_min_freq
=========================
View governor setting
Code:
adb shell
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
Hey buddy Nice work there... you seem familiar to me lol
Good to see it back!
lol, since someone went and killed listyb01 I decided to hijack this ROM.

Sweet deal. Thank you so much for bringing this back. Switched to Kaos when this was taken down for some stupid reason. Market never works for me on that ROM. So glad to have this back. Thank you again.
Welcome back!

No, its in my folder on grdlock's site for those who want to install it. I feel like it was draining battery big time so I'm running a trial period without it.

Is genie widget what was News and Weather? To my knowledge that only ran in the background if you put the widget on the desktop. Correct me if I am wrong.
Actually your last ROM (10.1) gave me the best battery life I have seen so far out of all of your previous ROMs or any other Froyo ROMs. I was easily getting 2 days out of it. Previously I was lucky to get 8 hours.
Good to see you back here.

The weather seemed to updated per the update schedule regardless of whether or not one used the widget, other apps called on the weather info (i.e. desktop clock) which seems to increase battery drain.

Team Komin presents
This is released as a full sane build only.

Remix Andromeda3 at UOT Kitchen
http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/
UOT Kitchen provides the ability to make your own custom release of Andromeda3.
Introduction:
In the beginning there was the work. In that work is Andromeda, and in Andromeda is the work. We've released Andromeda 1.0/2.0, 1.1/2.1, and 1.2/2.2. This is Andromeda3. Andromeda3 is the result of countless hours of development. Andromeda3 is the single Clockwork Mod flash-able ROM you should keep at all times in your phone's downloads folder. It just works.
This ROM contains the fastest kernel, the best combination of software, and it delivers outstanding battery life. Because of this, we feel it sets the standard which all ROMs should strive to attain.
For maximum battery life, disable “Auto adjustment of brightness” and “Auto rotation” under settings for the battery experience you've always wanted. These are classy and useful, but thanks to Samsung's driver, they can eat up to 25% of your processor at idle under certain conditions.

Latest Nightly builds:
http://files.teamkomin.com/Andromeda/nightly/ and http://files.teamkomin.com/Andromeda/nightlies/
Originally, our Nighties were hosted on Google code. We ran out of space on the SVN and re-hosted on our Team Komin server. The SVN revision were reset to 0 as a result of clearing out all data. No data loss occurred, only nightly builds were affected. Anyway, the latest nightly build is always symlinked here: http://files.teamkomin.com/Andromeda/AndromedaNightly.zip
Here is a full list of Andromeda3 bug fixes:http://code.google.com/p/teamkomin/...+Priority+Milestone+Owner+Summary&cells=tiles
Thanks
Special thanks to the following (in no specific order):
Modem testing and verification - perosredo
Development, Packaging, Testing, and Verification - Team Komin
An extra special thanks to our unsung hero mxracer101. The kernel is the most important and unnoticed part of any ROM. The kernel is the pillar which the android layer stands upon. mxracer101 has developed the i9010 kernel for our phones which provides indisputable performance gains over stock, all previous build and provides compatibility with nearly everything... Like running Ubuntu 10.10. This is all done by building specific parts of the kernel as modules which are loaded when required rather then delete them or bog down the kernel by building them into it.

KNOWN BUGS & FIXES/WORKAROUNDS
When you're setting up your email, do it when the UI language is English. For some reason the email app
might end up in a loop if you set it up using some other language. After you've set it up and
started it once, you can change the UI language and it'll work OK.
Top-Bar battery indicator won't show
fix: 1. choose "Top-Bar" battery indicator 2. start MIUI control panel
--> Statusbar Options --> Battery Options --> turn show battery OFF and back ON.
NOTE: You can use other launchers if you dislike MIUI's native launcher.

Nope, this one is newer port from Desire Z's 2.2.3 Miui (but uses 2.6.35.7 based ret4rt kernel etc., so keep in mind that it has the same update procedure as the other 2.6.35 based ROMs, I.e. you have to have the official 2.6.35 ROM before updating to this... =)
And...Even though this works for me very well at the moment, it might not be a bad idea to wait ret4rt's new version, since it probably has new tweaks etc.

Thanks man!
Now i'm installing the last MIUI 2.2.3 from Portugal, i really dunno what's the kernel... but can i flash ret4rt's kernel on that one? Because I liked it very much!
If it's possible, where can I download it?
Best regards
It's working on my x5. There is no Turkish language support. More Locale 2 didn't solve problem for me. Thanks.
Note: In version 2.1.20 access point function not working correctly. Other devices cant connect my AndroidAP. I hope problem was solved.
The only bug i've found is in calendar...
We see the numbers and below them, we have chinese characters..
But, EXCELLENT rom! The bad thing is the battery consumption
could you please send me calendar.apk and antispam.apk?
because mine are in chinese...
best regards

If you have time, you could implent this to this rom. It is finnish translation for HTC sensation. It takes time to put the translations to apps, but it would be nice to have finnish in miui

Well yeah I can upload those, but sounds weird since mine are in plain good old English. Did you update some other ROM or did you do a full wipe (cache, dalvik, factory reset...I even usually mount system and format it in CWM before I update anything)?

I think when I did a restore with titanium backup, I restored those chinese apps from another MIUI rom
but hey, thanks
EDIT: Very strange man, I put your apks and the apps still continues in chinese :O
BTW, what do you think about the battery of this rom? Mine drains 40% in about 2 hours even i'm not using the phone at all...

40% sounds really bad. Did you do a full wipe before you installed this? This is what I did:
1. do a factory reset
2. wipe dalvik cache
3. mount system directory --> format it
4. install ROM
5. if it still drains your battery, fix permissions.
6. my non-existing skills end here.
7. or...after you've installed this ROM, don't restore apps immediately, just see how the battery acts. Maybe it's some of your restored apps that keeps acting out.
My battery went down from 100% to 85% in ~ 8-9 hours without using the phone (2g data was on and a bunch of apps update themselves every now and then, so I don't know how deep sleep my phone gets)

Never say never, although I wasn't planning on going much more further with this 'hobby'. Given that the temperature was closing in on -30c this weekend, I got bored and had an eureka moment.
And there already are people who actually know what they're doing here and a chance of getting U8800 going official. Yay!!

Man, I can see my battery draining in real time!
Now it was by 66% and I was writing a sms.. I saw it draining one by one to 51%, in only 2-3 minutes!!!
yes, when i installed it i did what you said. Before I wrote this sms I fixed permissions, like you said too.
On "running apps" I only have system, keyboard and messaging (because messaging is always running, dunno why!)
Very strange, don't you think?
BTW, how often is this rom updated?

Done and done! Tomorrow i'll post results!
BTW, what's the differences between governors? I never understand it very well
I think they are cpu controlers.
Wiki:
Linux kernel supports CPU frequency modulation. In supported processors, using cpufreq to gain access to this feature gives the system administrator a variable level of control over the CPU's clock rate. The kernel includes five governors by default: Conservative, Ondemand, Performance, Powersave, and Userspace. The Conservative and Ondemand governors adjust the clock rate depending on the CPU load, but each with different algorithms. The Ondemand governor jumps to maximum frequency on CPU load and decreases the frequency step by step on CPU idle, whereas the Conservative governor increases the frequency step by step on CPU load and jumps to lowest frequency on CPU idle. The Performance, Powersave and Userspace governors set the clock rate statically: Performance to the highest available, Powersave to the lowest available, and Userspace to a frequency determined and controlled by the user.

CyanogenMod 9 is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.0.4 (ICS), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

As far as I try, compass is not working correctly on all Maclaw's ICS ROMs.
I used Sensor Kinetic app from Google Play to check whether the sensor working or not. X and Z axis of magnetic field sensor seems have wrong sign. They should be positive whereas showing negative values, and vice versa. I think the compass problem caused by these wrong values.

Great work mate very smooth no lags as far as I used...will use it as a base for my next update !!

are you sure that bln works?
because on cm9 final 3 by maclaw it doesn't work. then on that rom there is no torch toogle.
other thing is that is not possible to set wheather on lockscreen.
this rom is based on that, so if you haven't solved all theese little issues, they are present also on this rom.
maybe you could think to use cm 9.2.0 by erikcas for a your next release.
all theese things i mentioned work on erikcas's build. the only thing is that it sucks much more ram than maclaw's rom (i'm trying nebulosity rom based on that of erikcas)

Heya, here is my kernel for CM-based (5.1.y) rom, expect similar features on my previous one (OMNI-based). So yes, I still use SYNAPSE to play with the kernel, but I decided to use APB_axel's UKM to play with it, since his UKM gives more complete option than the one I've incorporated in my previous kernel.
And if you decided to use it, please let me know if you find some bugs, since I rebased my old kernel into this one.

Tested the 1st build since upload and v.01 for a few hours now. No stability issues on SlimLP build by Jejecule. :good:
Rotation doesnt work and synaps crashes on startup (this is the same on both kernel versions).
Minor issue that doesnt really bother me: in synaps on the info tab under SOC Binning no actual ACPU PVS or SPEED BIN values are displayed.
Thank you for making your awesome kernel again for Find 5!4
If I have any further issues i will report back.
PS. Those screenies are waaaayyyy too small
Everything going smoothly over here, so far no random reboots or any obvious instability, I'm not testing every single feature though. Really happy that people like you are still here, working to keep our device alive.

crDroid, latest release.
Will try it soon

Experiences so far:
- Autorotation doesnt work even on roms that do have autorotation working with the stock kernel.
- Performance is fine
- Synaps crashes a lot (other experiences??)
- Kernel is more stable than stock kernels, less panics and 0 random reboots until now.
- Battery life isnt noticably better, but I haven't really tested with finetuning with different UV-values, CPU settings etc.
Things not listed are all working fine I even have no more "camara can not be found" errors.

Thank you, for your feedback
- Could you please tell me, which rom that has autorotate working (I'm using Jejecule's crDroid btw)
- Not on my end, but sometimes it crashes when I turn other
kernel tune up setting on-boot.

So for me it works like this:
- CrDroid Stock: autorotation doesnt work, CrDroid + BIDJI: autorotation doesnt work.
- DU Stock: autorotation works, DU+ BIDJI: autorotation works.
- SlimLP Stock: autorotation works, SlimLP+ BIDJI: autorotation doesnt work.
Kinda weird if you ask me.

That's odd, because for me the only rom that has auto-rotate work with stock kernel is DU, and I can assure you that this issue is not kernel related (I've been switching the stock kernel back-and-forth in between those roms), I will try fiddling with the ramdisk later on.

- UKM Uninstaller (v.2)
So I have been using the latest version for >1 day. For some reason it has way more slowdowns and freezes compared to the previous version.
My synapse settings have remained the same: -75 mV, 84-1512 MHz, ondemand, max screen off freq: 594 MHz, Intelliplug (balanced) and Intellithermal. Not mentioned settings are left default.
Most noticable is the lockscreen. Most of the times is responds very laggy or doesnt respond for 5 sec at all.
If you have any suggenstions to try and possibly fix such behaviour, tips are very welcome.
On the very positive side; battery life is a-ma-zing.
I am typing this massage 22:34 and my phone left the charger at 7:10, and it still has 36% left with about 2 hours of screen time. But on the previous version I got even more pleasing results, see attached.
One more thing that caught my eye: when charging while shut down the screen stays on black with full brightness. Stock kernel doesnt do this, maybe that helps.
Thanks again!

As for lagging on lockscreen, did it happened on the latest build only ? or do you experienced it on the previous build as well ? Since I do noticed some lagging only when my phone is charging on wall-charger with 1ma/ on windows os (on linux I don't experience any lagging)and if I put fast-charge option on, there will be no lagging at all. ( I use Intelliactive). try change the Intelli-plug profiles
And please check the thermal option, I put 60c as default for cpu throttling and 80c for cpu offline, If you play games like I do and experiences some lagging, try increase 60c into something like 65-68 (I set 60c to make the phone more cooler) and reduce 80c into 75c.
For charging when phone is shutdown, you could push power button once to sleep it.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to figure how to resolve the issue you've mentioned.

Since I've adapted an Optimized Intelli-plug, enabling this hot-plug only viable through Synapse (other kernel tuner needs to update the apps, but I'll try to expose the module so it can be adjusted from other tuner), and I also gonna try to explain more about the option in Synapse so other can get more understanding about it.
Note :
- Please only download AnyKernel flashable zip if you're not using Dirty Unicorn build, and please reflash UKM v3.8.1a to update the changes that was made
Seeing it seems that I'm mostly the only one that post in here, and I don't like how it goes (seeing only my post), I'm not going to post my kernel update anymore, instead I'll just update the changelog on the first post and if you guys want to flash the kernel just read the first post for any changes.
What are the best settings to balance battery life and performance?
