I am assuming the answer is YES. I am asking because I was not able to find this answer spelled out.
If I used the NAND toolkit to change the partition size on my hd2 is it just reflashing cwm and deleting the ROM?
What I am looking to do is...
Now that I have my ROM set up how I like it I want to reduce the partition size of the system to provide about 10mb free space and recover the other space to the app side.
Can i use CWM to backup and reflash with the new partitions and then restore from the backup??

So, if I have a ROM (CMYLXGO's Stock Desire) w/ 425 MB system partition and I back it up with CWM , then install another ROM with 150MB system partition (installing the 150MB partition prior to install of course), do I need to repartition back to the 425MB prior to restoring the 425MB partitioned backup?
Common sense would tell me yes, BUT, I figured I would ask just in case I am wrong!

Yes, you definitely need to re-partition.
Thank you - thats just what I needed to know!

glad I could help....
What will be the problem if i dont perform repartition?
I had been wondering if a nandroid backup would restore old partition sizes, since it backs up everything, but yeah i guess it makes sense that it can't change the size of the recovery partition, since that's what cwm is running from at the time of backup/restore. But does nandroid restore system and cache partition sizes?

No, the restore just loads the partition contents into the partition, it doesn't adjust the sizes, or recreate them,, just loads the backed up contents into it.
Most of ROMs for T-Mobile HD2 require 400MB partition. But some (e.g. CMYLXGOs) require 425-430MB partition. Partitioning involves DAF and main PC. And it is not that big of a deal really, but my question is
If I have 425-430 partition, can I install 400MB based ROM on it ? And will it work same as if I would repartitioned to 400MB and then installed ROM ?
Yes, you'll just have additional 25mb of 'internal' fo the apps

If I resize my recovery partition on my HD2, is all data on my SD card lost? and would i have to reflash a new NAND ROM?
Repartitioning your internal memory will not affect the data on your sd card in any way.
Yes, you would have to flash a new ROM, or restore a backup.
so i take it the recovery partition clockwork uses it not on that sd card
which leads to my other question, if my rom requires a 169mb recovery and i use a 400mb recovery, will it work?
yes it will work, but you will waste 231mb of rom space. This is because you will set a system partition of 400mb, and load into it 169mb of files, BUT once the rom is running, all your user data, installed apps, etc get put into different partitions. Nothing will use the extra 231mb in the system partition, so it will be completely wasted and unuseable.

is there any sense rom that will work on a 150mb recovery? if so please share the link
Very unlikely. Why not just change the size?

bored on my help desk job, was gonna mess with my rom,but if im goin to resize i rather do it at home....lol
think im gonna try the bliss rom, any takes on it?
well you could always flash the rom, play with it, then when you get home, do a cwm backup, change the part size, reflash the rom, then in cwm do an advanced restore and just restore the sd-ext and data partitions. hey presto, system size changed and any settings you configure today will be restored into the new flash.
CAnt comment on the rom, i only use typhoon.

CAUTION; the CWM partition make it is for the SD and it WILL ERASE ALL DATA ON SD , for partition internal memory u have to use other tools on a PC (my favorite its HD2 toolkit)

Typhoon has a nice stable sense rom.?
Send me a link

Typhoon is a cm7 rom. Cm7 roms don't have sense.
I CAN highly recommend it, though. I've been on an older version typhoon for over a month now, and the only bug is the occasional failed video capture. Annoying, but doesn't happen often.
Hello everyone, quick question, I am trying to install a new ROM on my HD2 and it requires 190mbs of system partition but mine only has 150mbs. My question is can I install the ROM even though the cwm partition size is only 150mbs?
ROM I am trying to Flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354267
I have searched everywhere and haven't found an answer but if I can't I know I can use HD2 Nand ToolKit and install a a custom system partition. Thank you
You're going to have to re-partition. If the Chef says 190is needed, you can't stuff 190MB into 150MB of space. Just do a nandroid backup if your worried about losing stuff from your current build or are unsure of the new build. And copy your pictures/music/ringtones to your pc. Besides pictures, what will you really lose if you reformat anyhow?
Ahh I see, thank you for your prompt reply. I have done a backup as you suggested and I'm going to change the size thanks again
Just reflash clockwork........ in the clockwork file on your pc edit the " flash.cfg " change the system partition to whatever you like 200, 250

Change to clk 1.5. You can repartition without connecting to a computer or anything.

hello all..
I'm helping a friend installing a NAND version Android on his HD2 device running WM 6.5
I've upgraded the SPL to HSPL 2.08, and installed MAGLDR. I'm at this point now.. I haven't installed ClockworkMod yet. and I'm still choosing between ROMs.
While searching, I keep finding a line talking about "the required partition size" and "the required cache size". My question is, Is this just an informative line telling you what to expect, or you need, according to this info, to reconfigure disk space, or anything else in your phone?
Also, Can I install ANY HD2 ROM using MAGLDR, and this method?
Thanks in advance,
Read the guide in my signature, everything should be clear. Each ROM requires a certain partition size, you can change it using the hd2 toolkit. Almost all ROMs will work with MAGLDR and CWM. You shouldn't have to change the cache partition size, I haven't come across a ROM which uses a 45MB cache partition yet.

Thank you my Nigeldg... I'll check it out.
You need to install the HD2 toolkit, boot into Magldr, choose USB flasher mode and repartition the nand storage and cache according to rom specifications.
