You can't root your phone right now. I quick look over the General or Q&A and you'll see numerous discussions about it.

OH NO, NOT YOU TOO!! THIS HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP MANY, MANY, MANY TIMES ALREADY.
Anyways, Welcome to the site, but sorry, they haven't found a way to root 2.2.3 Gingerbread yet.
Also, please read the posts here. There is a lot of good information and useful tips. What you may have heard and read from other sources are often wrong and misleading.

G1 root

Hey guys, I'm kind of new here, and I'm wondering if I root my G1, will I be able to access the paid apps in the android store? I read that it was blocked from the dev phones and I'm wondering if that is the same for root. I have searched the forums but I can't seem to find the answer to me question. Thanks in advance for any help.

that problem has not existed in months

2.1 Leak to 2.1 Root

Hi. I am a dev who is fairly new to the Android platform. I recently acquired a droid eris running 2.1 leak v3. I am interested in upgrading to root. I was wondering if anyone had achieved root in any of the leaks? If not, is anyone working on it? If so I may be able to help.
Thanks in advance and I apologize if any of these questions had already been answered. I have searched all over this forum and other forums and could not find a recent answer to these questions.
Also, I hear the OTA is right around the corner and might be the exact same as the third leak. Should I just wait until that comes out to attempt to achieve root? I do not want to spend hours of my time working on this only to have the OTA come out the next day and have done this for nothing.

There are versions of 2.1 rooted, but there is no current way to go from the leaks TO root. There are rooted roms based on 2.1 though.

Not to be mean, i hate when people put topic titles as something like 2.1 leaked to 2.1 root, that makes u get excited and then u go read and its not really that. Just saying name ur threads better

Rooting any droid2 is the same no matter if they have the newest update or not.
Here is a link to the post for rooting. Also try and use a forum search or Google search with "XDA developers:" before what you want to know. This will help us keep double post's to a minimum.
Are there any custom roms that are 2.3?

The newest two builds of Fission and Fused should be 2.3.20 but I'm not sure of any others. I think there is a 2.3.20 version of the squidly ROMs but I think that's it. I'm not familiar with ROMs on the other forums.

rooting 1.5 hero

Hello i got refered over to this site from androidforums.com
First of all i see alot of great info on here but im still a noob to this whole root process. Im not very familiar with terms and would like for someone to help me understand different roms and what is best. Im still running the stock 1.5 firmware. My baseband version is 1.04.01.09.21 software version 1.56.651.2
So ive read there is easy way to root your phone with a program you can download on your phone. can someone help me out with this. TIA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik..._CDMA.png#Rooting_.2F_Un-rooting_.2F_Flashing - has all links you might need to root and flash a ROM.
As you are on Sense and a older radio, I'll suggest you to upgrade to later version of sense - something 2.1 and then root it, so you don't have to worry about flashing a radio, later. But, that's your call.
Whatever you do, read all the information properly... so you don't have issues.

[Q] synergy RC2 ??

As the title suggests, id like to install synergy rc2 rom. Problem is my evo is already running gingerbread 2.3.3 from over the air update. What is the simplest easiest way i can root & install this rom? My 1st inclination is downgrade to froyo 2.2 first, but im unsure how to go about doing that. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. If this has been covered elsewhere please point me in the right direction cuz ive looked around quite a bit.
Thx
Look around some more.

You can't root the latest OTA update. You're going to have to wait till another exploit is found. Your stuck running sense at the moment unless you go grab yourself a Evo3D.

you are out of luck my friend, like many others and myself. We're stuck with stock GB 2.3.3 ...
All you can do is sit and wait it out until we get a full root again, it will come. Just hang in there..

You obviously didn't look very hard at all. 2 weeks ago, I counted all the threads that asked this same question, and I stopped counting at 80... So I dont know how you have missed any of these threads.
What about the possibility of downgrading, than rooting and applying a custom rom??? Can it be done that way somehow??

Again, this has been discussed at least 50 times in the last month. You cannot downgrade without root. And you cannot root 2.3 yet.
