Ideal Swype Settings

I am always surprised when I hear people dislike swype.... I've ALWAYS had a lot of luck with it, that is until I started flashing a lot of the ROMs out there.
When you flash, the settings are reset to defaut typically, and I find the default settings to be abysmal. I mean, I LOVE swype and the default settings just make me hate the keyboard.
With a few adjustments in Swype Settings it's back to how I know and love it. Just curious if others have noticed this? If you are having troubles, perhaps try these settings? Any other suggestions for me?
(1)
I turn off the Tip Indicator *I also delete the swypetips.apk*
(2)
I turn off Vibrate on keypress - not sure why, just seems to respond a LOT faster for me.

It makes the swype experience so much better.
BTW, anyone tried 8Pen keyboard?

I think now swype feels a lot better thanks for sharing your settings..
I have a question though, I have always liked the black keyboard from bionix fusion and now I am on Onyx and not sure how to install it.. If anybody knows, please let me know. Thanks..

Honestly I never knew swype had settings until you introduce this.

I absolutely love swype and never really understood why so many people dislike it with a passion. But thanks to your post hopefully more people will learn the joys of swyping. Because that tip indicator is one huge pain in the butt.

It's all but removed in the beta... I have another thread for how to get/use the beta... it's a lot better than stock in my opinion.

Can someone give me their swype library from system/lib/libswype.so
Im having trouble with swype.

Could you tell.me how to delete swype. I can't unistall it. Do I have to use root explore to delete it

Now if only swype let you customize the length of the keypress necessary to shift up.

^ do you mean the time it takes when LP'ing to get a number for example? Or to make a letter Capital (which is just swiping up past the KB)?

Swype beta invitation

Got an email this morning and just now getting to read it... for being invited to the Swype beta program. Looking forward to using it once again it really is a nice app.
I'd like to share it with you guys in the xda community, is there anything I need to do besides attach the apk file? If there is please tell me so I can make it work to share this. Figured I should try and help out since xda has done so much for me

Currently using the new swype keyboard and I love it, it looks like they added a mic button so we don't have to. Decent layout and size of letters on the keyboard. So far all is good looking forward to sharing this.

We're currently not allowed to distribute Swype on XDA. Its considered warez, and XDA doesn't want to get in trouble for having warez on its site.

lame is there a way I can put it up somewhere else to share or is that still bad. I noticed that there is an installer and the actual app as two seperate apk files maybe I can find a way to get the one for just the keyboard

In order to use it you have to authenticate. I am not sure posting an apk will work. I could be wrong.

I understand you are trying to be a nice person but there are a couple problems with your statement:
1) Yes like spatton has mentioned, because of users like you, the folk over at swype had to implement a security check in order to prevent leaked .apk's and they have to cracked before you can use it on another device.
2) You just got an invitiation to a private beta program, and most likely agreed to terms stating that you would not share the application. If I were somebody at swype, I'd probably revoke your invitation.
3) XDA rules forbid posting any swype .apk's as of right now, because it would be considered pirated.

I'm sure you could probably host it on like 4shared or something. I'm not sure if the apk for the keyboard will work for other phones, cause I'm not sure if its registered to a unique device or not.

Successfully change sprint banner?

Has any one successfully changed the sprint banner? I have tried it with cdma workshop but I only have free version so it wouldn't let me. Is there a work around to do it maybe? A dialer menu or maybe though adb our a terminal emulator? Just looking got some feed back, any help is appreciated.

Mine doesn't say sprint on the lock screen....stock 2.1.
It does say sprint on the notification shade.

screenshots are always helpful

He's using a vanilla lock screen that's why it says Sprint. The stock tap lock does not. All of ACS themes change Sprint to the name of the theme. You have to decompile the framework in apk manager and edit a file called strings.xml located in res/layout
Look for a line called zz roaming text and change Sprint to whatever you want.

I still have probs recompiling the framework res after editing the strings.xml. I've made sure not to do any png replacements/edits beforehand. It seems to get caught up during the recompile when it pauses and creates the "keep" folder, and tells me to remove the resources file if I've made an xml edit.
Do you usually get this step when doing this?

Didn't send me one.

I got the invite email, went to the site on Firefox and kept getting an error when entering my email. I then tried Chrome and it worked.
Didn't get any email yet either.

Definitely faster. Has a smaller footprint memory wise as well.

Anyone mode it to the SD card? Does it run as smoothly on the card?

I still have the delay when trying to select a button. :/

Actually i have two on my phone, v5.1 and v6 beta.
they do not have any conflicts.
and v6 is really faster thatn v5.1

you need to register first, otherwise no matter which mail address input can be invalid.

[Q] Xda app not pushing notifications

For quite some time now I can't seem to get the xda app to push notifications for subscribed threads or pm's to my phone. Is anyone else having such issues with this? Oh and yes it is set up to do so.

Idk but the market will say stuff like that when you change the density.. Change it back to normal when you update from the market and try again.

i have never had a problem with xda's premium app i always backup and restore through titanium backup never had a problem with it except for maybe re entering my email and password
