I suspect it is ROM/Kernel related as many users are having this issue on some Gingerbread ROMS that are compiled using old Gingerbread release.
try to test your front cam using the internal test app: *#*#0*#*#*
and flash Speedmod Kernel.
i dont know which rom you have.
JVH : darkyrom.com/apk/JVH_Stock_Camera.zip
Ver from JVH works on JVP too. Tested.
its a tweaky rom bug, there should be an addon fixing that. I used that rom for sometime now I am on this ROM try it

Hi!
This is an odd one but I really need a specific, older ROM. I had a ROM installed and when you used the video camera (or perhaps it was for photos) it gave you a crazy slightly trippy visual, usually green and pink and in either lines or triangles.
I believe the issue was fixed with a patch, but I want the ROM with the issue.
Screenshot for reference:

Thanks for any help!
i think if you set it to full screen then this issue appears.
FreeX10 Beta 3/4 without the camera patch did that. Also Wolfbreak's CM 004 did that on 720p(High).
PS: I am suffering from memory loss lately. Check it yourself or wait for confirmation
Early version of trip's froyo mui maybe.

That must have been my ROM i think. My ROM was the first ROM with working Camcorder but it had green lines in 720p it was like someone said earlier in a Version between 4 to 5
The Picture is showing AOSP Camera so i think my ROM or zdzihu one.
Thank you everyone for your input. I actually found an old backup I had by chance! It was actually rendeiro2005's [Cyanogen6.1.3]gingerbread[v01] but I guess it was in a few roms. Why I need this is a secret for now (nothing dev related!) but might explain later

how to connect this device as USB mass Storage, no soft key at top right corner of the screen in settings>storage
the browser crashes quite often. Flash isn't supported by the browser.
I guess we still need some work on this ROM, does any one know how can i extract that bar with the extra options and add it to another build?
I was using CM10 for Defy+ in my Defy (Red Lens, of course), with CM9 Kernel and 4.5.2_DHT-22.
Then, I got tired of having trouble with Video Camera (FC in Gallery and Camera after trying to record videos longer than 1 minute), so I decided to give Pikachu Edition a try. I installed it with Aroma and followed instructions and is now working quite well.
I just have one question: during installation, I chose "installation for Defy". Does that mean that it changed my Kernel, so I don't have CM9 Kernel anymore? I read the log, but I think I found nothing saying "installing new Kernel" or something like that. I'm kind of used to the old method, a little clearer in that sense .
I don't know how to display which kernel I have right now.
Thanks in advance.
use cpu spy from PlayStore to look or look at settings
this is the froyo kernel

Great, thanks. I have the same kernel, so it must have changed it. I didn't know which kernel those numbers corresponded to, thanks!
I'm looking for a CM13 Rom with working laser focus camera, fingerprint sensor, good kernel support, and OTA updates (or some kind of updating system but honestly this isn't required. Does anyone have any recommendations?

It depends on your CM usage. If you want something unrooted then use mine Can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/development/rom-unrooted-cm13-oneplus-2-t3348109
I am looking into implementing an OTA system for people to use so they don't have to download the OTA files constantly but I get around a day and a half usage out of my phone.
How did I test roms?
Rom file + magisk 19.2 + thermal mod (by black)
Which roms did I test?
Huge thanks for all developer

TEST RESULTS
Only thing keeping me from using MIUI is gcam, the quality of the camera is just too good to pass up, though the battery usage of MIUI roms are usually much better.

For me, besides gcam, its the screen burn-in issue.

There's an app that sort of solves the issue, ghost something, can't really remember it, if I had the cam quality in MIUI i'd definately use it,
