Hello, I recently bought an Aria because i wanted android but am stuck in a family plan with att. The other day by way of lifehacker I saw the thread about the simple root for evo 4g (sorry I cannot post the url becuase I am a new user, but it is on xda and on lifehacker).
I was wondering if anything like this could ever be made or ported to the Aria?
Thank you very much
-Ian
Hi Ian
Yes there's already a root method for the aria. It takes a bit of time, but its not too difficult.
There's a topic called new clarified method for rooting the aria that has steps that will help you root.
If you have any trouble either I or someone can help you out in the IRC channel.

Please avoid creating new threads for existing topics. Before creating a new post or thread, you should read all available information in the many Aria rooting threads.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to organize the Aria forums.

Do a member search for BTDAG,..... then check his threads. It is called something like Noob guide to rooting and will also be in the development section.

Here it is.
thanks men,but that seems to be quite difficult is there any chance to find an easier way to put a custom rom?
Thats the best method AFAIK..... also very good support there from what I remember.
hey guys brandon back again not here though cause xda would not let me post in dev. until i posted 10 generals not a fan of that rule however..... i am currently running stock 3.1 with build hmj37_us_epad-8.4.4.5-20110527 and my kernal is 2.6.36.3-00001-gf377a2b i am not sure if all of the number are important but i want to make sure i do and ask this correctly i am trying to root with cwm with custom rom i have been seeing that i have to downgrade to 3.0.1 to get root is there anyway around that possible one click root or whatever and another thing is this prosedure reversiable, sorry for so many questions i really want to do this right cause this is one of these situation where i can't just turn my bricked device back to asus like i did with sprint many times just to get a newer phone. any links and advise would be helpful thanks guys
The reason xda doesn't let you post here before you get 10 post is to avoid some irrelevant post like this one in this section. It has nothing to do with android developmen, it should be in general. And for your question read and search a little there are many threads about it. For exemple the thread about WIP of one click root in this section, so there is none yet.

Wrong. There is a one-click root. Use NVFlash.
Not really one-click because you have to set up the drivers, but after you do that. You're pretty much golden. Just set TF101 in APX mode and then double click download.bat
ok what about a general adb root running 3.1 i can't seems to find anything specific to that current version they seem to be general rooting methods

because it is general, NVFlash works regardless of android version. this is why they don't let you post here until 10 posts
can you send me the link please and adb i have never really used that before is there a link for that, drivers is that on asus.com is there a specific driver i should be looking for like name specific thanks what about cmw?
Google android adb.
Searching is fundamental.

Firstly "Help" is not a descriptive title, Use proper topic titles as per rules.
Second, This is not the help or questions section, go to proper forum, This is for dev topics only.
My apologies

I know there are a lot of post on this but can not find the help I need. I am trying to root my Acer Iconia A500. 3.1 Version. I have the gingerbreak v-1.2.apk, formatted Micro-sdcard to FAT 32, it is mounted card. When I try to root it, it will not root. It stays on the same installation screen forever, after 20-30 minutes I exit out of it. Can someone please help me get through this process.
Sure.
Head over to the dev section - in a nutshell, you are using a root utility for Android 3.0.1 on your copy of 3.1 - this won't work. You need the Iconia root apk.
Also; you posted in the wrong section. Questions belong in the q&a section. Use it in the future and you'll get a quicker response.
One more tip: search the forum before posting a new thread. Your question has been answered in literally dozens of threads.
Best of luck!
