Droid2 bootstrapper (Gingerbread) on droidX generating md5 error - Droid X General

Hey Guys, I'm getting a very wierd error that just started today when I'm trying to backup my root .596 system so I can check out another ROM.
Everything runs fine untill it gets to generating md5 sum, then it says "error generating md5 sum!!" and goes back to the main menu. Can someone tell me what is wrong?
I am running on regular rooted BHT rooted gingerbread with droid2 bootstrap 1.0.0.5, debugging enabled.

If rsd mode is working then try and go back to 1.26. At least I would try that to get a fresh start and then reupdate and root and everything again.

i also did that. i went back to 1.26, updated OTA to 1.57 and tried again to get to 1.83 but same thing happenedd
Where are you getting 4.1.83 from?
a post from the development forums
I had the same problem, it failed as it went to update the radio as I had already done the hsupa update.
The found I could not restore any sbf over the top. Update your Rsd to a version 5 or higher and then apply either 1.2.6 or 1.5.7 sbf and all is well.

i'm using version 5.0 and did a full restore back to 1.2.6, then updated to 1.5.7 so shouldn't that fix any radio issues that your talking about? everytime i try i get the same 'failed to boot 2' error

everytime you update 1.8.3 after restoring all the way back to the start and upgrading?
I was using Tenfars to apply the Zip file update and noticed it failed to apply the radio everytime, I ended up applying it 10 times in a row (at wits end) and when I rebooted everything worked but I had the old radio. Then I applied the HSUPA updated radio (again).
Previously everytime I applied it would fail and then reboot would show failed to boot 2.
My RSD Lite version is 5.3.1, before when I could not apply 1.2.6 or 1.5.7 it was version 4.9

pull the battery and let it sit a while, have a go in a few minutes. if it's not booting straight to fail 2 then try forcing RSD mode with vol up and see how you go getting it back to flashable mode.
I thought I was toast a dozen times when mine went off the rails...not quite sure still how having the HSUPA update on rooted 1.5.7 made me incompatible with 1.8.3 update since it contains a new radio image not a patch - maybe someone smarter can figure it out!

[Q] Totally Screwed...

Hi all, yes, I'm a noob..
Trying to help a friend that screwed up his phone.. DX, had Froyo 2.2.1. and 2.3.340, was rooted with z4root, Koush Bootstrap, and Liberty 1.5. Did a wiped cache, factory reset, removed Bootstrap, and unrooted. Now the phone just boot loops with the Liberty logo (apparently forgot to change it back first) and Droid eye. I can go into the stock system recovery, wipe cache and wipe data/factory set, which I have done several times however it still boot loops and my pc still does not see the device, nor does RSDlite v4.8 with motohelper 2.0.49 driver 5.0.0, followed the sbf guide by maderschramm but still no luck seeing my handset. When I put an update.zip file on the sdcard and try to apply it I get E:signature verification failed Installation aborted. My eyes are strained from reading so many forums and trying to figure this out on my own to no avail, would appreciate any feedback.
Use the linux sbf tool here, its always worked for me

[Q] Getting from .340 to latest GB build

Okay, I need some help. I'm not unfamiliar with rooting/flashing/adb. I'm running CM7 Nightlies on my Droid Incredible. However, I am unfamiliar with flashing the DroidX. My wife wants some Gingerbread love, so I am trying to help.
She's rooted, running everything else stock 2.3.340. Baseband BP_C_01.09.07P
I have d/l'd the two files as referenced from MyDroidWorld by p3droid. Installed the Droid 2 Bootstrap. I boot into recovery and when I attempt to install the first file, I get an Status 7 error, specifically:
assert failed: apply_patch_check("system/app/VoiceSearch.apk"....
I've used Titanium BU to uninstall VoiceSearch and reinstall it from the market. I'm not sure what else to do. She REALLY doesn't want to have to reinstall everything if she can help it.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I could be way off here, but it sounds like one of two things: either the Voice Search app in the zip is corrupted (did you check the md5 sums?), or it's expecting Voice Search to be a system app (and if you re-installed Voice Search from the market, it's probably installed as a user app instead).
Check the md5 sums, if that's not the issue, try using Titanium Backup to convert it into a system app.
If nothing else, you could back up everything with TB, sbf back to .340 stock, then take the OTA to .602, re-root using the Droid 3 easy root script, and then restore all data and user apps with TB.

rooting after sbf

I rooted with Droid one click. Everything worked fine until the rom started acting funny and eventually bootloop occurred. I used rsd lite to flash sbf to my dx. Afterwards I tried rooting again and an error message popped up. Something like /date/local... not found.
Now I have tried numerous ways to get rooted again to no luck.
Any ideas on where to start?
Also, super user still shows as on the dx but no root is present.

Sounds like you SBFed to Gingerbread so you will need to use Pete's Root method

thank you so very much. Rooted again and got Liberty flashed.

[Q] Want to improve Droid 2 Verizon no service

Im hoping to improve my droid 2's speed, boot time, customization options, etc.
I have no service so i'll mainly just use it as a pda.
Been trying to install miui but havent gotten very far...
Phone info:
System version: 4.5.621.A955.Verizon.en.US
Android version: 2.3.4
Cant tell if rooted. Ive tried so many things (z4root,MotorolaOneClickRoot_psouza4) and done factory reset so many times..
Can I install miui?
If any more info is needed about the phone let me know and I may be able to provide it.
Anyone?
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
As I stated before, I downloaded z4root and did a permanent root. It went through the motions but I got no definitive proof that the phone was rooted.
Downloaded bootstrapper from the computer and installed it, tried to do reboot recovery, but again, no feedback. Mind you, I also did "Bootstrap recovery" first, it was successful, but the kicker here is that (to my understanding) if youve already rooted your phone, youre supposed to get a message saying something along the lines of "bootstrapper has been granted superuser priviledges" which was not the case with me.
Flashed ClockworkMod Recovery using ROM Manager which was successful. Tried to "Reboot into Recovery" but I got no feedback for that.
With all that not working I tried to boot into recovery anyway. I turned the phone off, pressed "x" and then the power button while still holding "x." It did not boot into ClockworkMod Recovery, but I was still able to access recovery options in the "android system recovery <3e>". I first tried updating using cyanogenmod zip, which did not work. I also tried the latest MIUI zip, which didnt work either. The problem with both of those was that they ended up aborting because they "E:failed to verify whole-file signature."
Again, what do? Where do I begin? Is this phone a lost cause?
621 can only be rooted with magic md5 method
magic md5 root for d2, d2g, dx, & dx2
