Only the x10, or also every other device? - XPERIA X10 General

Heey,
I was wondering, when 3G is turned on, on our x10 the battery dis-charges very fast, wifi drains much less... Is this problem also present for you guys? I know 3G drains more battery then wifi, but this is much more then when I used 3G a long time ago... But I was then on stock 2.1. Now I'm on 2.2.1, and I never had this issue... But now I got it Is it only our device or do also all devices have it?
PlayGunsta

I have a friend with a Galaxy S, he says on 3G he has 1 day of battery life, with wifi double.

Not having a go just putting my view forward.
I don't really care how many days the battery lasts as long as it lasts me a day! It can charge when I sleep. I take it as a given that the battery won't be lasting days between charges considering that our phones are basically the same as pcs were from a not too distant past.

I dont know if thats device specific but I do know you can get an app called juice defender free off the market which turns off 3g when your phone enters deep sleep. Really helps save battery

Before I could have great battery life with 3G without JuiceDefender... I'm using much push messaging so JD won't be ideal for me... Do others also have this epic drain?

Am using wolfs rom, with kernel 3.52, after full days use (25 hrs battery) I use 7% on cell standby, roughly the same as stock 2.1 with similar usage.

You say you didn't have this on 2.1. Sounds pretty obvious to me:
blame your current ROM.
I also guess no other device could run X10 custom ROMs.

I have had this issue on 2.1 & 2.2.1 and i have no idea Why it does this.
the 3G eats away at the battery like a pig.
It does not matter what the signal quality is like or what BB you use.
It eats and eats.
SE is aware of the issue but some people act like the issue is not even existent.
I get 2 to 3 hours and then i need to charge and the worst is how hot the phone gets while using it on 3G.

Maybe that's the cause why 3G is eating so much battery?

It could be, yes.
However, I don't use 3G, there is no good coverage in my area. I've set the network to "2G only" and I turn on data only when needed.
The problem lies in the mobile radio management, be it phone or internet.

Battery life stinks...

Hey guys what is up. I'm just wandering.. my Droid is brand new. Got it 2 days ago. Today I had to recharge my battery twice. I did use it a lot... so that may be it.. and when I didn't use it the battery life stayed the same for as long as I didn't touch the phone. Is my battery good? I got the app that tells me the temperature and everything. The hottest was 112F. It says my battery health is "good health". Will my phone hold a charge for a longer period of time after it has been charged then drained... and repeated. Does it just need to be broken in? Thanks for reading this whole essay I wrote you guys.. Haha. Well thank you so much again... and if you can please get back to me as soon as possible that would be great!

You should really search a little bit before you post. There are COUNTLESS threads on battery life.
Your best bet, until HTC fixes it, is to charge until the phone says you're at 100%, then turn it off and charge until the LED turns green. Charging and discharging really won't affect anything - their is no "memory" with their batteries.
Okay, thanks for the quick response. I appreciate it. Sorry. I should've read.. I was just a bit anxious. My apologies.

Check Settings > About phone > Battery and make sure up time and awake time aren't the same.
If they are the same, it means something is keeping your phone awake when the screen goes off, which drains battery.
I just got my Droid Incredible a few days ago too, and I knew coming into it that the battery life has issues from a lot of users, but man, it really sucks!
I have it fully charged at 8am, and by 3:30 (with very moderate use), it's already at 20%. I've disabled everything I can (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, live wallpaper, installed ATK and keep my tasks at none, etc), and still the same.
I really love the phone (it's amazing other than battery), but the battery life is such a big deal for me that I am really thinking about returning it and waiting for the Samsung Fascinate to come (hopefully sooner than later). Thankfully I have until Aug 30 to call Verizon and return the phone... i sure hope the Fascinate gets a definite release date by then.
I'm going to try the full charge + phone off + charge again to see if that improves things, but other than that, does anyone recommend the Seidio 1750mAh battery or the HTC Touch Pro2 OEM (1500 mAh) battery? Does it make that much of a difference?
I read the findings on batteryboss.org, and it appears that the TP2 battery was better but the Seidio battery they tested was a used one, so it wasn't a fair comparison.
Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Loose atk....and read. I get a full 18 plus hours and I don't bump charge. Lots of info out there

I purchased a 2150 mah battery from verizon and i can say I wont be having battery issues.. that is one option, but you wont find a case that fits your phone, that is the only downfall
I was just reading reports about the new Facebook app...looks like they are working on that fix if you use that and it is causing a battery drain
http://www.androidcentral.com/facebook-confirms-battery-drain-latest-android-update
Uninstall the 1.3.0 facebook app RIGHT AWAY if you downloaded it. That destroyed my battery life yesterday and I have never had battery problems with my DInc.
You can just use the regular HTC Facebook app until an update is released for the facebook for android.
Try it without the new facebook for a day and see if it changes.
If you don't have the facebook app then just make sure bluetooth, gps, wifi are off when you aren't using them. I recommend trying bump charging but I've never personally and my phone lasts about 26-28 hours+ with mild to heavy usage depending on the day.
-Flawless
Thanks for the replies..I don't use Facebook so that wouldn't be my problem.
I think ATK is good.. I mean I don't have it on auto so I sometimes just kill all tasks and I have noticed any decrease from the already poor battery performance.

I easily make it through the day and have battery to spare with moderate to heavy use.

Need more info like he said.......... But Read the Sticky about battery and look at some of the custom roms. They get great battery life.
And Yes, you may be the only one..............
I get horrible battery life. Running the Stock KA6 Froyo build. No custom roms. I think I would like the phone more if it got better battey life. I get 12 hrs max. No heavy usage on phone either. NO GPS OR WIFI on either.
This is probably the most asked question I see here. I recommend the search feature
If you're on a stock or leaked ROM, your battery is going to suck. Root, download Titanium Backup and start by freezing both DRM Processes and Media Hub for starters.
Next, spend the $2 and download an app called "SystemPanel". Run if for 24 hours. It will tell you what is draining your battery. The hardware is perfectly capable of good battery life. The more bloatware (Samsung and T-Mobile Apps) and crap apps you remove from your system, the better. Also, 3G, especially in area's with poor reception, will eat your battery life. In my experience, EDGE + WiFi is MUCH more friendly than 3G with no wifi. WiFi Calling is a battery killer as well. Getting great life is really quite easy once you know what you're doing, and the best way to know what you're doing is to read up.

Quick question: I run system panel. It never show media hub in top apps, why should I freeze it then?
P.s. I don't use media hub...am judge curious.

Battery life with pudding 2.3.4?? Anyone experiencing phenomenal battery life??

I just recently unlocked bootloader, flashed 2.3.4 pudding and rooted and am experiencing insane battery life. For example, this morning I unplugged at 7:30 am and had work at 9 am. I work at AT&T so I am on my phone a significant amount of the day especially compared to the 'heavier' users out there. This morning was extremely slow and I spent most of the morning downloading and installing apps mostly from 4shared.com, heavy usage. Later in the day I used the phone for 3 customer service calls, all fairly lengthy. I also had set my cpu to 1000 MHz using SetCpu and my brightness cranked all the way up. I let 4 of my employees use my phone to demo for customers and showed my front row video of Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America 5 or 6 times. All the while playing Words with Friends with the old lady and sending and receiving about 50 texts. Pretty heavy use and a typical day for me.
It is 8 pm and I am at 40% still!! I am thoroughly impressed after 2 days of flashing new rom.
Please give your feedback on battery life on 2.3.4 and let me and others know ifI you are experiencing something similar.

I stated the phone was mostly idle today. My phone has been idle like that before (entire day) and on 2.2.2 the battery was at 20% or so usually.
edit: IMO testing the battery usage when the phone is idle is probably a more accurate test between 2.2.2. and 2.3.4. It helps see how much battery the background services run on 2.3.4. With the screen on/phone in active use there's too many variables that are draining the battery = tough to make an accurate comparison. That is unless you have some sort of automated test script running that enables the screen and automatically walks through several apps for 2+ hours. I doubt anyone here does that though .

agree with that, especially with screen time going past 1-2 hours.
I'm not rooted or anything... I have AT&T version. I get horrible reception in my home so I usually turn off data network and have wifi on. I was using "extend controls" app from market... no with the update a few things wont work namely the widget to turn off data network connection. I see the problem, it renames the wrong APN (AT&T US Tether)... the default APN is AT&T HSDPA, not sure if its okay to switch. That all said my battery drains VERY fast... Went to bed at around 1am with 50% and was totally drained (phone died) by 8am. My only thought is that it was searching for a signal all night with wifi on...
Any thought on this?
I have had amazing battery life. I closed tonight so my routine was pretty much the same. I usually listen to iheartradio for about 2 hours while im counting down drawers other wise idle except for checking twitter on my breaks. That usually puts me at somewhere between 30-40% and I got home with 70% today...
I've somehow managed to get 2 days and 11 hours while still being at 12%. I haven't really used it much, with only ~3 hours of screen time, but I did use it for about 2 hours to listen to music with.
(On RedPill, not just 2.3.4 pudding)

I think the dual core CPU is to thank here. If processes are getting completed much quicker, then that means less active CPU time.

He just gave you the best tip and you turned it down, you must not be interested in improving battery life, if you're constantly using data and have over 2hrs of screen time you're asking for crappy battery life, and unless you are always receiving important emails, you really don't have a reason to run it 24/7, if you're to lazy to turn it on and off, just use juicedefender, and it'll do it for you. You'll have to make some sort of sacrifice, whether it be monetary or personal. Phone usage is everything, get a bigger battery. Also, logging out of social networking apps when you aren't using them helps as well. I find I have very nice battery life on MIUIgb

I know that turning off data can save me battery life. That's not the point of this thread. I figured it was implied I was talking about different kernels and versions of MIUI V4, not the way I use my phone.
On that note, what's your setup with MIUI GB? I've been considering going back but I'm turned off by MMS STILL being broken
Sorry dude but that's the wrong question to ask. By now u should know that every phone is different if its what kernel to use & what setting to use this or that app than its simple trial and error. When we were still on froyo I couldn't use one of the very popular kernels bcuz it drained by better like crazy it took me a few weeks but I found the perfect setup to get good battery life. & sorry for misunderstanding your intention for this thread.

Alright.. well I misunderstood, it mighta been better to include that in op but it's whatever now lol, I'm using shadowkernel MIUI, and... 100-800Mhz governorndemand, schedular: Sio. And yes MMS has actually been a pain in the ass today for me, I'm considering going to AOKP again lol. I will apologize if I sounded rude in the previous post though, I didn't understand where you were coming from.

Is dropping down to 800 MHz noticeable as far as performance goes? Also is MMS the only problem you have with MIUI GB?
