Title says it all, can't download faster than 2 MB/s, has anyone else got this problem?
Before installing the new baseband I could get speeds of 7 Meg quite easily, I going to try installing an old baseband on the new firmware to see if that fixes anything.
I tried searching but found no mention of this. (Found lots of helpful "use the search function" posts, do people realise that people using the search have to go though so many of these to find anything relevant.)
Update: Flashed .61 baseband and no probs, need somewhere with better signal to test the speed.
interesting....let everyone know your results
I have been having issue's were the device will not go into 3G i get Edge and the H but no 3G.
no probs here

Well under any circumstances HSDPA is better than 3G.
So don't see the problem.

Plus, the phone tends to use the best connection available.
If H is available, why would it connect to 3G?
I can only get 3G and H ... It's drains pretty fast battery -.-
7mb/s over HSDPA/3G or WiFi? That is amazing if your down speed is that much, even in Percival from Highrule's guide to 3.5g, people were not getting anything close to 7mb/s down.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951765
That is amazing if your phone can handle those speeds over HSDPA/3G. Can you provide us with some screen shots and any mods that you did?
Thanks!
It might not if been quite 7, but was def over 6. The signal is so bad here I only get 56k modem speeds. Hopefully flashing the older baseband fixed the prob and I'll post screens next time I go into town.
I read a post from Z, if my mind don't fail, saying that baseband restrict for country.. is there any specific baseband for South Africa?

so far.. 61 & 67 work well in S.A.
Okay, since the X10 supports HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, I have no idea what Megs you are talking about.
Under perfect circumstances your max is 7.2/8 = 0.9MB/s, so I'm confused.
Obviously mega bits.
So no 1 else with this prob?
Tried in manchester (big uk city) center in 3 places and can't even get 2 meg now, but not far off.
Might try another baseband, prob go back to the 1 before I upgraded to .67 wish I hadn't bothered, caused loads of probs and the battery life and performance hasn't improved like many said.
It's your signal, no baseband restriction, maybe and just a would guess.....have you tried wiping your caches in recovery??
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Not installed X recovery, is it just dalvik catch I should wipe? Theres not much on the catch partition anyway.
I'll try that and re-test. Cheers

wiping caches would do nothing......
It's probably just that baseband in your particular area.
Try others.

I have been using Darky's rom for 2 weeks now, and am suddenly having issues with my data connection, and signal strength. The data signal drops from a H to an E randomly, and even on a H is getting 400kbs..
I love the rom, and want to keep using it as its soooo much better then the crap samsung put out.
Has anyone had similar issues, or know of ways for me to address this issue.....
I am on o2 UK if it helps

I've been having a signal problem on 9.3b3. I'll have a few bars but it'll say emergency calls only. Those are places i've had service before. Not sure what's causing it. I'm on bell canada using the jl2 modem wich is what I always use.

Why don't you post this in Darkyy's thread so he can help.

For posting in the main thread I would but you need 10 posts before they'll let you and since I usually read and search for the answer to my problems I don't have that many. I had serious battery drain on darkly 9.2 but with 9.3 b1 and b3 its all good. Just the signal but im playing with it so will just have to test it again.

^^ yeah you need at least 10 posts in any other thread to be able to post on development thread.
Regarding OP issue its kinda weird Ive been running on v9.3 b3 since release and no trouble since then. did you try re-flashing / wiping?
ive had this problem last week, contants flickin from 3g to E to H made the phone pretty unuseable . wot i did was go in the secret codes on sgstools n switched the HSDPA/HSUPA off n reboot phone , then bk in sgstools change it again HSDPA ONLY then reboot , and once again bk into sgstools change it again to HSPA OFF reboot again , then finaly bk ito again and set to bk HSDPA/HSUPA on.
i admit not sure if this correct or not but after l messed around with settings it has seamed to sort it self out, did notice 1 thing battery seamed to last longer with HSPA off .
Im on orange uk , hope that helps

Got the GS2 yesterday and I've been traveling all around the country(USA) today and no matter where I am my data connection keeps going back and forth from 3G to H to H+ every few seconds.
Is this normal? It seems to be working data wise, I have the network set to Auto in setting.
Anyone having this issue?
Thanks
ps , new to the site so sorry if this has been discussed
This is normal for the Galaxy S2. It should be H or H+ when it is either downloading or uploading data. It should revert to 3G when not consuming data.
Ok good info thanks.
Also what's the latest FW for it, I have XWKE7.
thx
You have the latest.
Sorry if this is off topic, but what download/upload speeds are you guys getting when on ATT H+?
Edited for carrier clarification.
The fastest I had was 6.3dl. I never get above 2 on the up. Usually I stay around 3.5-4 up =, and 1.2-1.5 down.
Thanks. I have an Atrix now, and it stays about the same on the dl, but never gets above 1.2 on the up here in Orlando.
Been considering an SGS2...just doing some research on it.
Again, much appreciated on the response.

Nah, there are several newer versions out when you consider the states do not have any official firmware release or csc. I would go KF2 as most of those roms do a little better on battery than the KE7 versions did.

Thanks krabman. Just got mine today and trying to figure out which one to download. That being said, the SGS2 on KE7 is far better than any other Android device I've owned.
I suspect it's the radio. I keep getting crappy signal apparently with the Panache stock recently. It's taken to a new level now with no service out in the middle of the street. Is there anything I can do than try to switch radios? Even right now, I keep getting switched from 3G to HSPA+.

Radio Issue
I have a MT4G running 4.2.2 on LiquidSmooth and I cant get anything over 3g even in areas where I previously had awesome 4g service (on stock 2.3.4). I checked my md5 and it does not match any other radio/baseband's md5. I'd really like my 4g back but I also don't want to brick my phone. Currently my md5 is showing up as 60de66c8b88d27b9a3bbae385b7f71dc and have yet to find one anywhere to match it. I am fairly new to rooting androids ( I had an iPhone for like 5 years and I just got fed up with the limitations even when it was jailbroken) I read a forum about extracting the radio.img from a stock rom but I was still iffy about the md5 not matching. Absolutely any advice would be great. Thanks in advance (and apologies in advance if I somehow posted this in the wrong place or something)

"4G" and 3G use the same hardware. None, I repeat, NONE of the available radios break "4G." What you're seeing is a difference in the icons used. Whereas the stock GB ROM simply shows "4G" when using HSPA+, the AOSP variants show 3G when idle and switch to H/H+ when data is being used. There is nothing you need to change. It's a gimmick that often evokes a placebo effect.

Thanks for the quick reply and thank you again for clarifying that. But when I ran speed test my download speed is showing around 350kb/s when I usually get around 1.5 mb/s. I recently asked my friends in the area that also have t mobile and they said they've experienced a decent loss in speed/signal just in the past month or so. So is it possible that another baseband might increase my signal strength at least? Because if it's not possible/effective than I feel like I'd be wasting time trying to fix my md5 issue.

If you're worried about the radio, download a different one, verify the md5 ON THAT DOWNLOAD and flash it. Feel free to report the speed difference, if there is one.
I've read up on this and understand it is supposed to be normal, but man does it make my phone so much worse. Every single time a page loads it has to switch from 3G to H. My reception seems like it sucks so bad because of this. Sometimes it doesn't switch. I get good bars everywhere I go, but it feels like I have terrible reception.
I've never understood radios and such. I'm rooted with the stock rom. Would this be better if I tried cyanogenmod with a different radio? There has to be a fix for this issue.
If you solve this for me, I'll kiss you through the internet.
I don't think kissing anyone over the internet would make them want to help you any more
Its how the phone works, its supposed to switch to 3G to H. H comes on when data is more active.
What radio are you using?

I knew the bars are for phone calls, but I'm in the city of Chicago and have a hard time believing my data is as bad as it seems. I'll have plenty of times where it shows 3G connection and doesn't switch to H, therefore no data comes through. I've had plenty of times where I didn't believe I wasn't getting data, so I reset my phone and sure enough - data!
I do believe something could be wrong with my specific phone. I might need to try a full reset or flash cyanogenmod. I just didn't want to do that. Especially without checking with you genius's beforehand!

The radio is .48.. Baseband is Radio. You can go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227 and try out other radio to see if you get better reception.
If you're in a TMO 4G LTE area you can try activating LTE to see if you'd like it any more.

I can do that, but I'll first have to figure out how to do it. For some reason my drivers say they don't work and it won't let me flash clockwork mod. I was going to make another post about it after I figured this out. Do you think radio could be the issue?
Also, I am on Tmobile, but I thought LTE didn't really work since it was ATT band 4 or something and only very specific areas had it?

Well, I just found out my APN was the one used when you are on LTE. I changed it to the non LTE version and will test over the next few days. If that was my problem, I'm going to be upset at the Tmobile lady who put in that info.
Please do let us know if it's any better after using the epc APN.
If you flash to the .33 radio, the LTE will turn on and it's very good at holding a data connection. It's just when it's not available and my phone connects to hspa+. I have similar problems as you. My signal indicator works great and its blue but no internet. I'm wondering if i'll need to keep switching apns. I hope not.

Well, I did my commute this morning and there really was no change. It could be a combination of poor data reception areas and slow switching. I'd like to try to flash a new radio, but I don't know how. I can start a new thread about this, but I'll at least mention my problem here. I installed the Nexus 4 Toolkit and went through all the steps to make sure the drivers were installed correctly and such. I did this a long time ago when I rooted the phone. But something is wrong and it doesn't let me flash clockworkmod. It tells me to go through the steps again, which I have tried.
Is there a way to flash a new radio without clockwordmod?

Lte is amazing in Chicago but not as strong in Chicagoland. However, hspa+ is garbage in Chicago but better in Chicago land.
As for cwm, I prefer twrp. You can just download goo manager from the app store and it will install twrp for you. As far as I know you need to use a custom Rom that supports the older radios or else your calling might mess up. I use aokp.

It's built around swapping ui dpi...so you can set your phone to act like a phablet or tablet per app...ie...make gmail look like it does on your tablet on your phone. Let's you drop out the soft keys and replace them with a pop up slide wheel/etc and has a lot of the AOSP and CM features like the quick notification toggles etc.
Hi xda community
I have some strange problems with my Note 3 N9005. I will try to explain it as good as I can...
I was on Omega Rom v19 and 4g and everything was good...
So I wanted to upgrade to the new v20 based on Sammy tw XXUFNF4...
I thought I would like to try the new modem as well, so I flashed stock Sammy rom XXUFNF4 via Odin before I flashed v20 of Omega on top of it.
Flash went well, both of stock Sammy and Omega rom...
But before I used to have 4g coverage in my house, now I have NADA. Well, that's not the problem here...
I have tried flashing other modems and some of them work, but still no 4g coverage in my house. The ones which doens't work gives me "unknown baseband and unknown imei" - I can fix that by flashing a modem which I know works for me.
I have tried many things now and I still get no 4g in my house.
I have wiped and flashed stock Sammy firmwares and even there it gives me the error "unknown imei and unknown baseband"
I am getting frustrated here and I just want to kill my Note 3 with a hammer.
Anyone outthere who can help me? I can write via hangouts and skype if so...
If there's any questions, please let me know...
/CK

At least we know the modem does allow 4G. It's not broken
So that leaves either a low voltage to the modem, or a very unlucky timing in regards to the tower. It is possible the lower-frequency band on the 4G transmitter is disabled (and high ones above 1800 can't penetrate indoors) or the transmitter's aim has been repositioned. Or the modem isn't getting enough juice.
Check with your carrier if there's an issue with the tower, or if they did any maintenance on it. (They repositioned the aim for the transmitter here after the lightning strike, and now I can't even get the GSM network in my house. I have to hang out the window to make a call...)
If that's not it, try increasing the voltage to the modem.

I believe Synapse provides an interface for the voltage controls, but I can not guarantee if it's supported. And I can't promise that it's safe, either.
But I do suspect it's a carrier problem. Is the 4G everywhere else as strong as it was before things went haywire? If yes, it's not the voltage. (if it was, the signal would be worse everywhere, and not just in one place. )

I believe the signal was the same the other places I checked it... I really do hope it's just a carrier problem
Now I just need to find out my other problem

Certainly sounds like it is.
What's the other problem? (if I completely read past it, my mistake, it's been a long day.)

If I flash a modem, some works, some dont. The ones which isnt working gives me unknown baseband and unknown imei, but that can be fixed by flashing a working modem.
It's the same when I flash stock firmwares. Some modem works, some dont. Just like above... Make any sense?

Hmmmm, either something goes wrong during the process, or there's an incompatibility somewhere.

As a general model-related piece of information for Note 3 - I believe modems and the bootloader itself can not be (successfully) written from outside "trusted/secure zones" - in other words you need stock recovery at least for that to work. In download mode it should also work but again there are extra security checks there on the signature.
Update:
Talked to the operator today. There were no errors or recent work on their towers near me...

That's what we always say, too, when a customer asks. It's generally a lie. Particularly when the maintenance was supposes to improve things.
Did you install anything in your house that might cause interference? Router, microwave, something that covers the wall closest to the tower, a wallpaper with metallic components? New isolation? Or possibly neighboirs closer to the tower that did? (In my neighbourhood, when my neighbours between me and the tower open their windows, I get 3G. When they close it, nought. Oh the joys of reinforced concrete... )
