Hello.
I am desperate now...
I was on 1.105.01, and followed this thread to get the update.zip and update to 1.141.
However, now my wifi simply says "error" and does not connect nor work.
Can anyone help me?
Flashing an unsupported whatever broke something? *shock*
Why don't you post in that thread?
I didn't post because I saw noone with problmes related to this there. I tought this might be an isolated incident.
I am trying to pull myself out of this by installing the leaked chinese 3.1, which should have all data... However, being offline, i can't seem to be able to install ClockWorkMod. I am rooted, but i don't know what zip to use.
Please help?
Done. Scaped the situation by downloading the leaked chinese 3.1 and installing it as a update.
You got your wifi working again?
what does this update do?
Wifi is working again, no programs or configs lost.
I was installing the update more as an "learn how to do stuff". Learned.

I had the same thing happen when I updated to 141. The permissions on the wifi modules was set incorrectly. Root + chmod to the module files and wifi worked again.
how did you do to fix this problem with wi-fi ?
I did the update to 1.105.01 > 1141.01 and the same thing happened to me like the top friends over there I do not know what to do have no application because I clicked System Restore now my wifi does not start or can access my files for lack of an explorer apk 1.105.01 someone has to send me the original?

First post here but I have searched and read a lot since joining.
I bit the bullet and rooted my hero last night following this guide from regaw_leinadso I guess I can't post links...)
Everything went fine so I then wiped and loaded freshrom 2.1.2 followed by a damage710.zip overclocking file in that order. This also worked fine and I was enjoying the new setup.
The main reason I rooted was for wifi tethering so I tried it out and kept getting a "unable to start tethering, please try again" message. After more reading I found that there was a bug in 212 on superuser permissions. So, I loaded the 212 su fix file and went back to wifi tether. The su permission came up and I selected always allow, was able to connect and all was good. I then tried to stop, su permission came up again, always allow was selected...then the device froze on "stop tethering." The only way for me to get out of this was to pull the battery.
I tried it again, and again it freezes at stop tethering and I have to pull the battery. I tried updating wifi tether with the one that is currently on the market (202) and that version stops at "unable to start tethering" message.
My initial recovery image was 1.5.2. I then did the process again using 1.2.3 with the exact same results.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks
In the dev threads there is a kernel you need to flash to stop it from freezing. I couldn't tell you if it works with your rom though. just have to try it.
Thanks; any idea where or which one it is? I can't seem to find it.

Found it. Kernel is in the following thread:
"[KERNEL][OC]Darchstar's GoDmOdE-Darchshizz #15 for senseUI roms - UNDERVOLTED"
OK - this is my fault and I'm willing to put the work in to fix it myself but I'm hoping someone knows off the top of their head.
Transformer firmware all up to date. Rooted and on MagnuSupr3m3 ROM.
I had also pushed a modified WPA_Supplicant file to enable ad-hoc tether to my HD2 - that worked great.
I applied Sheshmaru's cool win phone7 theme to check it out. see link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1120525
Somewhere after applying the theme I found that wifi could no longer connect at all and showed error as it's status. This problem persisted even after I rolled back to a recovery backup of prime 1.4 I had made - using SolarNZ CWM R3.
Any suggestions? I'd rather learn how the wifi stack is working and apply fixes rather than just reinstall the whole thing
I had the same Wifi Error status on my TF, but that was after I got it rooted and flashed the newer CWM on it. Toggling Airplane mode fixed the Wifi for me, no idea why lol
SOLVED
If anyone else suffers this misfortune the fix for me was this:
Followed instructions to add an eraseData file in the Solarnz CWM thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093818
Reloaded my recovery.
There is most likely a better way to do this by just pushing some wifi related files into the right folder but that goes beyond me and I couldn't drum up any instructions from a quick google.
hello xdadev,
i really need your help. I am a newbie in android world [just purchased my first android device] last month [samsung galaxy tab p6800]. since then, i was really excited to explore android world and its features where I was led to this site.
now, heres my problem: just this afternoon, at first, i used my wifi to access a shopping mall internet connection. but minutes after turning my wifi off, when i turned it on again to connect to another network, i was surprised that it wont start and when i open the settings menu, under it says error. im really worried.
had my unit restored to factory settings but still no changes. Rooted my galaxy tab but today, i unrooted it thinking that the rooting caused the trouble.
im also hoping to update my tab to ICS but with this problem, im really stuck! i dont know how to access my apps in the appstore.
is this a firmware error or a hardware problem? please help me. my tab helps me a lot.
thanks in advance. im willing to add some details if you could help me.:crying:
try to go back to the mall where it 1st connected, if it still doesn't connect, then use your warranty and ask for replacement.
7.7 is notorious for being a bit choosy when it comes to wifi, sometimes, it just stuck with "obtaining IP address" then will revert back to scanning.
I also encountered your error before, but I just simply turn the wifi on and off again
before going back to your retailer, try to totally deplete the battery first (it's like removing the battery) then charge your unit and try to connect again
good luck
the last thing i could remember was busybox got updated but failed to install. is there any possibility that the failure caused the problem?
nope

Ah, sorry, busybox could, and may very likely be the culprit! An older version did just that to my (I have the 6810), and a number of others, tabs.
This was for Stericson's version 8.0 and here was his reply to my email:
Sadly you fell prey to a bug that was in Version 8.0 of my installer. I fixed it in 8.1, but it seems many still got the bugged version.
To fix the issue, you need to reflash your current rom. You do not need to wipe or clear any data.
You can also look in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691410&page=2
It has an update method that should fix your issues.
Again, I apologize for this error
Please let me know if you need anything else from me.
I did just that and reflashed my rom using Odin and then re-rooted. I haven't, since, re-installed Stericson's busybox although later versions supposedly fixed the problem. I see there has just been another update in the Play store.
Damn I got the same error today, also after a lot of updates came trough.
Still working on fixing it. Will restore backup first after full wipe..
EDIT : Ok just went to recovery via power+volume up , factory reset, a nandroid restore and wifi working again.
Phew.
Ah! Got my tab working again. Thanks guys for the link and comments. The (update. Zip), did fix the issue. Busybox related bug. Starting to re download my apps again since I got my tab data wiped. :-(

Not rooting my phone as of now. Will wait for the ICS first before rooting again. Tab is fully working already.

Hi there, I got an issue on the OOS 4.5.12 after 3 days of using it. I got the problem , that the button looks stuck. I can click it and it will change its own color, but it doesnt turn on my wifi. Now I know I can clean flash the update again, but In want to know if someone had/has this problem too, and if someone maybe knows a work-around.
Edit: So I tested the device furthermore and found out, that I can't turn my Wi-Fi hotspot on... Wiping dalvic/ART cache didn't work neither...
Strange.... I didn't have this problem at all.

Same until today ? I will try to dirty flash the update, just to see if this will solve the problem. If it doesn't work, then I will be switching back to 4.5.10 OOS
Sent from my OnePlus 5 using XDA Labs
When I got this error I found out it was because I flashed new firmware and used an older kernel which didn't support the new firmware. You should read your logcat and see if there is any clue there.
Hello. Calling for help!
I have the exact same issue except i am able to launch and use WIFI. When i try to enable portable hotspot it gets stuck on "Turning on". The hotspot button in the slider shows enabling but the hotspot never gets enabled. I was on OOS 4.5.15 and upgraded to 5.1.5 after which i restored only the DATA partition from TWRP. I am currently rooted. I tried with editing the build.prop file and restarted but the issue is persistent. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I would recommend a clean flash to test without restore old data.

Thank you for replying. I dug a bit deeper last night. Deleting the entire wifi folder from root and restarting fixed the issue.
I had a lot of problem with wifi after flashed a not stock rom. Nobody could me help until I find the solution. Tell me Jelly do you have mac address or it show 02:00:00:00:00:00?
Hello, I have unlocked my phone and flash stock rom nougat 7.1 with magisk, twrp and xposed. Three day after this process I try to install this two mods:
I - https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-fingerprint-mi-5-mi-note-2-t3660179
II - https://forum.xda-developers.com/x-compact/themes/sound-boost-nougat-7-0-t3684917
And My phone start to drop all wifi conections and bluetooth stops working. So I tried to restore 3 backups that I made first of wifi problem beggins, and didnt make diference. So I flash a new stock rom, with other xperia firmware from Xperifirm, and nothing changed. My wifi conection and bluetooth still sucks.
Here's my questions: is possible that this change break up my network board, is this a hardware problem? Can anyone know if there is a way to know if is a software or hardware problem??
Can anyone copy and post here the wifi (data/misc/dhcp) and bluetooth (data/misc/bluetooth) files to see if i can fix it?
In worst situation I will restore drm keys, lock bootloader and go to a Sony Store, thank you guys for any help, I was really enjoying this phone =X

I've noticed this affecting my phone since the update to the 34.3.a.0.252.
Apps wont load content on wifi, auto update of google apps wont work over wifi, etc. (some have even been sitting waiting on auto updates for over a month...)
As soon as I turn wifi off from the tray, apps update, content updates, picture and videos instantly start to upload
i have not installed either of the two packages you list, or magisk, so I don't think they are related to the issue.
Its not an issue with my router set up as it happens on the main router, a repeater, shared connections, hotspots or public wifi. Its down to the phone and most recent update.

It's weird becase a tried 34.1.a... and didnt make out. Idk if some how I made some hardware crash, or drop wifi is just a bug from my rooted phone. Today I tried to install marshmallow stock rom, and stock + twrp and both with wifi issues, in weekend I ll try to restore drm-keys with locked bootloader.
I saw what heppen with explorer es.app, bluetooth and wifi files are missing, and even with a new flash rom or deleting folder they dont fix up files. The strangger part is that in the beggin everything was right, maybe I break up wifi hardware. My last chance will be install Paranoid Android, and if everything is all right, I will copy file for try to force software fix it.
Did you made anything to fix it?

I've just been living with it, though I may downgrade back to the October Rom version if i still have it while i wait for appropriate O versions, kernels with support for turning off encryption etc..
Just to close this post, and help others members I would like to notice that I solved my problem. Actually, it was just a coincidence. While the installation the required processing burned out the network card of the phone. This fact there is no connection with the installed mods or ROMs, nor either with any of the information or hypotheses I gave earlier. The problem occurred because the x compact's battery its attach with SoC, and therefore it is very sensitive to heat, fortunately my cell phone is warranty and I will get a new one. So, take care !
