I was testing some wallpaper resolutions that best fit my home-screens, from an wallpaper website(http://wall.alphacoders.com/) that provides multiple resolution of the same wallpaper. As I was setting a wallpaper directly from the webpage(man... setting a wallpaper takes a lot of time in honeycomb) my A500 restarted suddenly. After the boot, the unlock screen(which is totally black), just freezes. I just can't move the lock sign out of the circle.
I was thinking about factory resetting it, but unable to, since it is in the setting menu which a can't access. Is there any other way to factory reset it? Please some one help me out of this night mare...
Did u try beside the usb a small hole called reset????

Yes, I tired it. It just restarted my device and same thing happens again.
Try hooking up a usb keyboard and hit the home button during boot up, that should give you access to recovery

My Phone reboots by itself after a day since last boot, when I slide the unlock bar the screen freeze up an then reboots, after that, works fine for a day or two. Any idea what might be wrong? I got zapX rom with black glass theme.

Same thing happens to me.
Mine did the same. After a factory reset, no more problems. I hesitated a while knowing I would have to reinstall apps, but it was well worth it.

my phone does the same, its done it on OTA 2.2, flyX, apeX and Fission 2. motorola describes it as the phone going into a 'state of panic'. only solution i've found so far is to use 'no lock' so that i have no sliders, however now the screen comes on whenever i hit a button

I unfortunately can't recreate this. :S
But I wonder, if No Lock appears to alleviate the issue..
For those that want the lock screen, would something like WidgetLocker to turn off stock lock screen, and use WL's lock screen instead still resolve this?
Actually tried widget locker today in combo with no lock and that is working because its still not using the default lock screen. Been a good 12 hours now and reboot proof. Annoying but is a working work around.

Doesn't widgetlocker have an option to disable the stock lockscreen? Figured you could use it instead of no lock.. (??).
Maybe I'm wrong.
Any Solutions to this? How do you go about doing a Full Wipe, When I do the Factory wipe in recovery the problem still occurs.
Do you have to do something more where you un-root first?
Any options or mods to lock the device by sliding the gamepad closed?
Or to customize what app opens when the gamepad is slid open (I don't want the stock games app).
I know you can turn it off so it doesnt open anything when you slide the keypad open, go into the launcher and then press menu/settings and uncheck the one and only option, if you do this, when sliding to unlock it will just take you to your homepage.

Awesome. Didn't know this. Any way to make it not unlock if you slide it open?
Thanks!
Anyone know the solution to the first question?
Locking the screen when the phone is slid shut?
Edit: Screen Tools is supposed to be able to do this but for some reason it doesn't work.

Someone actually cares?
OK I'll TRY to update Screen Tools to support the Xperia Play.
WOW. Never in a million years would I have thought the dev would drop by! Hi! =)
FWIW, it worked on 2.3.2 but now on 2.3.3 it doesn't work.
-my phone is rooted
-I did hit the Grant Permission button
-the app shows up checked under the list under Admin
-"Enable Screen Tools 2" is checked in the app menu screen as well
With all the above, nothing happens when I slide the phone shut. Otherwise your app works great. Disables lock screen etc.
By default, the phone enters in horizontal state when the pad gets opened.
hatcyl, if you need anything, whistle ^^
App updated, don't worry this users the official API so it should work with anyone.
I added a function to lock on navigation closed (DPAD), so Xperia Play users should check that option.

App is free on the market.
It's Screen Tools 2 by hatcyl, no ads either.

~Magic Locker Main~ http://www.mediafire.com/?jzjuf6eh3th2vxc
~Root Explorer~ mediafire.com/?j4a1xs54d6a1c*9a
not sure if there is another one that has this same method but this is what worked for me.
YOU MUST BE ROOTED TO DO THIS WITH MARKET ACCESS
step 1. Download No lock for the android market.
step 2. Using root explorer go to data/app and find no lock
step 3. long press it and move to system/app and paste it there.
step 4. reboot your kindle
step 5. Google magiclocker main and select the market link OR USE DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINK ABOVE
step 6. it will ask you to sign in, do this, now it will say what program do you want to complete this action with and select android market.
step 7. it will say not compatable with this device, download it anyway.
step 8. go back to No lock and turn off the lock (you can test it out by putting your kindle to sleep).
step 9. In the android market search Magiclocker and download any theme you want.
step 10. once it is finished downloading tap on it in your notification bar.
step 11. it will ask if you want to install the theme tap yes.
step 12. Go to Magiclocker Main and apply the theme
step 13. Customize the theme however you want.
step 14. presto you got a custom lockscreen
This also works with Golocker, however i found Golocker to be a little laggy.
I am a little confused, market says magiclocker isn't compatible with Kindle and won't allow me to download. How are you able to?
Or you could just use Widgetlocker...

How do you make it so that widgetlocker is the default lockscreen cos the kindle default shows up first when I wake the KF then after I slide to unlock, the widgetlocker unlock screen comes up and I have to slide that to unlock that too.

xolanir use no lock it gets rid of the default lock screen. I would have used widget locker but for some reason it wouldn't work on my kindle. For the magiclocker what i did was i googled it, then clicked on the first link which was a web based version of the market and you download it from there it will ask you how you want to precede and then you tap on market, if it still doesn't work i will make you a video. hope this helped.

Works great for me except after a reboot, if no lock is unlocked then it launches to go launcher but the menu bar across the bottom is gone. The little up arrow that you click to get the menu button, back button, and home button is not there. Sooooo if you go into an app you can't exit it. The only way to get menu bar back is to reboot, go launch no lock, and set to enabled and then you get the menu bar back for good. And full screen is not turned on in magic locker so that it's not the cause.
But then you are back to using kindle default lock first and then doing the magic locker lock.
Any ideas?
found it!
Okay so I just realized that happens (I almost never turn off my kindle). Anyway I found that if you go to no lock and tap it twice, once to turn it off than another to turn it on it brings back the notification bar. Hope that helped!

What is the point? It doesn't work.
I use No Lock all the time. When I reboot, I just go to it first and Lock and then Unlock again. Buttons are then fixed. I rarely reboot so it is not a big deal.
Has anyone else noticed that you can no longer adjust the Ringer Volume from the Lock Screen when pressing the Volume Up or Volume Down buttons?
Have not seen this noted (mentioned) in any of the Android 4.2.2 articles or videos..
Wondering if its a Android 4.2.2 change, or if its just my phone.. (started after update. could adjust prior to 4.2.2)
Also noticed the Popup (Volume Adjustment Overlay) no longer appears when pressing Volume Up or Down on the Lock Screen when music is playing..
(could probably use this thread to discuss any other changes made in Android 4.2.2 - although there are few changes)
I noticed that too. Petty annoying, if you ask me. They still having managed to have camera quick access from lock screen with pin. And why do I have press enter every time after inputting my pin? On IPhone and windows phone you don't need to and they have study access to the camera.

I noticed that they changed the tone when going down to 14% on your battery.... Not a biggie but still something.
When downloading apps from the play store it shows an ETA now, don't think that was there before. Also notification bar animation seems slower.

As far back as I can remember having android you've always been able to adjust the Ringer Volume from the LockScreen...
I like having that ability so I could put the phone on Vibrate/Silent, while its still in my pocket as I walk into a meeting (or other event)
Now I must pull the phone out, so I can unlock it just to change the Ringer..
And Also liked the ability to change Ringer Volume via lockscreen when I was at the gym, forget to turn off ringer, then must place sweaty hand on the phone to unlock.
I used lockscreen volume all the time. I don't know why they'd remove a feature like that!
I even trawled through various settings to see if I could enable it somewhere. No luck.
If you hold down power until it shows the power options, it will let you use the volume rocker.

I think he's talking about when he swipes over on the lock screen to access the camera he is being asked to enter his security pin, instead of just opening the camera... or maybe its not asking him for pin, and thats what he wants.. Hard to understand what he's saying.
I just wish I could remove the camera widget from the lockscreen. I've taken maybe 2 pictures from the phone, and those were to test quality.

I enabled pin to see for myself....it doesn't prompt to enable security pin.
Yip the camera should be able to be removed - since we're talking about removing stiff, so should the icons in the status bar.
You can add a widget between the lock screen and camera though. Add a widget and press and home - allows you to move widget screens around to your liking.
Well I think the this is a restriction introduced by the device administration of my company and actually not Google's fault. But HTC sense was able to quick access the camera.

Is there any way I can enable the on-screen buttons on the stock GS4 ROM. I'm trying to reduce the usage of the home button because I'm scared it might break/stop working anytime :/ The tutorial in the dev section doesnt seem to apply for me.

I think this is non sense. You will loose a part of screen for the on screen buttons. The home button will not break/stop working. You don't need to worry about this. And in the worst case if this will ever happen you can bring it back for free repair or replace it yourself (very cheap).
Personally i highly doubt that something like this will happen.

You don't even need that, as this is built in, just look in the accessibility settings.
But... You can always do that IF the button fails. For now, don't worry about the hypothetical failure you may experience one day, just use the hard button
