This thread is for discussion about OTA's on the XOOM 2. If you have received a new OTA, found new information about an upcoming OTA or having issues then post on this thread.
If only it was hitting the Xyboard already I've noticed WiFi issues, even when I'm right next to the router.
Hopefully the Xyboard isn't using the same wireless radio as my Xoom FE. If it is then good luck, my wifi speeds suck and I usually sit withing 20 feet of the router.
I haven't received any update yet. Is there any way to manual install the update?

I have received my Update on my Xoom 2 and living in the UK.
Almost all but given up on getting a Xyboard 8.2 b/c of lack of ....ANYTHING...development, updates, ICS...etc. But I just read on the XoomForums that they are very very close to root for the Xyboard. Then I would imagine something like bootstrap or safestrap would work to install custom ROMS.
OK just been onto Moto tech support and they dont plan to release the honeycomb update to all devices :
fooked over yet again. well done moto.
Code:
MOTO: Ok, can you please specify what is happening when you try to update. You connect to the Wi-Fi, then you go to Settings > About tablet > System update ... any error messages, what is the alert message?
ME : i just get the message "your device is up to date. No update is necessary at thsi time"
MOTO: Ok, let me check with our technical team regarding update. I'll be in a minute.
ME : im running android 3.2, build number 1.6.0_218.3-MX615
ME : from what ive read on teh forums it seems as thoguh anyone with a 1.6.0_218 build hasnt recieved the update
MOTO: that means that you particular XOOM 2 is up to date. If there was a small update for specific devices for 3.2.2 (x.x. 2 ) version - that means this update fixes some issues or problems for those devices. If your device is not receiving update automatically - that means there is no update for your particular Xoom2
ME: the only thing is the issues that this update fixes ARE relevent on these tablets
ME: http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Support/GB-EN/TABLETS/MZ615/Blur_Version_0.268.4-MZ615-Retail-EU.en-GB.html
ME: i.e. its fixed rendering problems in teh browser / appstore and several other bits
ME : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22338528
ME : is there any chance i get get hold of the update and isntall it manually
MOTO: I've checked with our technical team and at the moment this particular built number - doesn't need an update.
i still haven't received the update . Does any one knows a way to forced my tablet receive it ?
By the way motorola schedule to begin rolling out ics in q3 for Xoom 2 and this is unacceptable ...

I find it unacceptable too! We were promised an update within 6 weeks of release, but now we have to wait for Q3 when the RAZR is receiving the update in Q2 seems quite unfair.

Man, thats some bs, I'm on 16.0M-218.14-MZ617 and I haven't gotten the update so I guess I'm not one of the chosen ones, but my tablet definitely has some of the problems addressed by the update!

will be interesting to know whats changed
Good stuff, who knows we may get that filtered down if enhancements to the euro eos xoom build, heres hoping.
Good news, I hope the head phone jag issue is fixed.
Since Jelly Bean mine stopped working.

would be nice if sdcard1 was rw
and external keyboard layout can be configured
For me sdcard1 was read only at the first time I used JB. But after removing then re-inserting (maybe several times) the SD card then finally became RW.
The thing I'm waiting for the most is the ability for Google Search to speak some other language than English ... French please !!!
Has the soak test started yet? Anyone know?

What's strange is that we cannot find any informations about this update except on this thread ... I wonder if there will really be a new JB update, maybe the email shown by androidcentral was an old one talking of the 4.1.1 update ...
Im starting to wonder this as well...perhaps this 'soak' was in reference to the old one.
Sure seems to be quiet on here.
no follow up yet on this next test.
Looks like this was a new email regarding a soak test. New string on the Xoom Owner's Forum asking why there has been no follow up the emails some users received recently. Unless Motorola had an email glitch, there may still be something in the works. As I recall the original soak test announcement for JB had quite a delay from message to rollout.

And that string on the Owner's Forum has now been deleted.
And the update lives on. Nexus 7 is getting 4.1.2 as we watch. Is the Xoom up next for whatever bug fixes are included in this OTA? Hopefully we have a soak tester that can pull the OTA link.

Kernel updates and allegedly improvements to project butter. Possible that Moto pushed a soak test very quietly and the server log are picking this up.

Judging by that changelog, it appears a new LTE radio is on the way for Stingray...07.23.00. We know the leaked JRO03H build that hit back in August had a new CDMA radio included...03.1A.66PS, but the LTE radio remained the same. Sadly, since the radio firmware on the Xoom is flashed to the actual radio hardware rather than to a storage partition, it can't be dumped for flashing, and thus the only person that actually has that new CDMA radio is the guy who leaked the JRO03H Stingray build originally.
Maybe now that 4.1.2 has updated the LTE baseband, we'll FINALLY get an official Jelly Bean OTA for Stingray. It seems like Google and Motorola have done their part with providing an OS build and radios respectively...now Verizon just needs to approve it.
On a slightly depressing note for those who have ever built AOSP for Stingray...I had a very brief conversation on my G+ with JBQ tonight about the situation with binaries after noticing that every single device had updated Jelly Bean binaries...except Stingray. The latest Stingray binaries are for ICS build IMM76L.
He told me that Stingray binaries will no longer be provided for AOSP. Even though they were always marked as "archived, for reference only" (due to the fact that they don't have a license to redistribute the LTE/CDMA blobs), you could still download up-to-date AOSP binaries for Stingray that at least covered the basics like WiFi and graphics, even though it was on an unsupported basis.
JBQ said tonight "We stopped trying to support stingray when it became clear that we wouldn't be able to license the network stack." So I guess that means that securing a license for Stingray's CDMA/LTE blobs is a lost cause and as such, they've just stopped providing binaries altogether. Sad that they were able to secure redistribution licenses for the CDMA/LTE blobs on toro (VZW Galaxy Nexus), toroplus (Sprint Galaxy Nexus), and crespo4g (Sprint Nexus S), but not for stingray. *shrug*
This, of course, has no affect on actual OTAs. As long as Google keeps releasing OTAs for Wingray, Stingray will get them too albeit on a delay due to Verizon.
It's just sad that, for the longest time, you've been able to build AOSP for Stingray, just without a working radio. Now, if you build it, you'll have to pillage the latest OTA for drivers that cover even the most basic functionality like graphics. Ah well.
OK rant over.
I had complained to Samsung about the S-Note PDF import problem (it crashes when attempting to import any PDF) and my contact told me that they have uploaded "for Kies a new version of your OS with the pdf issue fixed. You should have access to it very soon if not already). I just plugged the Note into Kies but nothing's updated yet but hopefully it should be there soon enough.
Note that he said "a new version of your OS". I had previously told him that I'm on build IMM76D.N8010XWALG4 of Android 4.0.4 so we're probably just getting the fixed ICS version and not Jelly Bean. If I recall correctly the fixed build is IMM76D.N8010XWALI4 or something.
Update Dec 8 2012:
Got another text from my contact!
He says that the "Jelly Bean version GT-N8010 EUR OPEN 4.1.2 Maintenance Release (LG4 -> LI4)" is in the process of final verification at Samsung's India R&D cetner. He hasn't given me a timeframe but he'll let me know as soon as it's posted to Kies.
My only concern is that everything directly quoted has a bunch of contradictions in it, lol. First, as far as I can tell, "maintenance release" doesn't usually refer to going from one android version to another, but rather an update within the existing version. However, he specifically calls it Jelly Bean version of N8010 4.1.2. Lastly, LG4, and LI4 are the last three digits of most ICS / 4.0.4 CSC or PDA numbers, and not for Jelly Bean. So really what's going on? Heh. Time will tell.
Update Dec 19:
Got another text from Samsung customer support and here it is verbatim:
"LI4 Jelly Bean OS for your tablet will be released in Canada Dec 27th and will be available through Kies at that time."
So if your firmware is xwalg4 then you're getting jelly bean on Dec 27!

that would be awsome!
Kies is updating itself right now! Coincidence??
Edit: Aaaand nothing for the Note itself
Not entirely sure what this update is supposed to fix aside from this PDF import problem you have. Would much rather have the JB update, but this would be a start I guess.
Kind of a random question, but what does Canada fall under on Sammobile? We aren't listed in their firmware section.

Yep, sammobile doesn't have anything for Canada.
Indonesian Owner, wait for Dec 15, as Samsung told KOMPAS Daily in a press release. Update can be done via OTA or via Samsung Service Center. Suppose Samsung Canada can issue a press release as well.
See:
Code:

It's in Indonesian Language, but there's always Google Translate if you need it.
Hi, any more updates from the Canadian side? When the hell are we getting JB? im looking to buy my first tablet for christmas and deciding between n10 and note 10.1..looking for a good door crasher event on boxing day lol..but hope note 10.1 gets jelly bean soon
It's going to get something I just don't know what! First post updated with new info Dec 8.
Can you give us some clarification on what you mean by "my contact". At first I thought you meant Samsung customer service or just some employee, but I'm not sure anymore.
I guess you could say he's customer support, but not the regular one because he called me after I sent my complaint to Samsung Canada CEO's office from their support page. I only did that after exhausting 'regular' customer support.
Updated again! Dec 27 it is!
I am not sure of that deadline because of the exploit they would be working on patching that first and then releasing the roms after so I feel everything will get delayed and it will depend is how easy it will be to get the patch out.
You need to remember the exy 4 processor device base is around 40 million n it becomes even a bigger issue when everyone know that how easy it is to hack.
So I think Samsung would be spending all developement on this

great news! now i hope thats true,,i will probably be picking mine up on boxing day in canada so would love to have a jelly bean update the next day!
I for sure believe that deadline will not be met as the next market where note will be release will be europe, then asia n then us the fact is it has not gone beyond germany and even note 8000 has not reached asia
Italy doesn't have the update yet, as US. Do anyone have some news about the release date for Italy?

Since the fix isn't ROM dependent they could send a patch out via Samsung Apps or Play also. That would be more efficient since they don't have the resources to update the ROMs individually on that many devices at the same time.
Here's their statement....
Samsung is aware of the potential security issue related to the Exynos processor and plans to provide a software update to address it as quickly as possible. The issue may arise only when a malicious application is operated on the affected devices; however, this does not affect most devices operating credible and authenticated applications. Samsung will continue to closely monitor the situation until the software fix has been made available to all affected mobile devices.
Well you do not know what would it be required to patch it up as the patch we have is temp and not permanent they will have to rewrite the kernel in someway I guess and that will have implications how deep they are will decide how they bring out the patch.
This is not a OS flaw but a kernel flaw so it is a very serious issue.

I guess. Based on how I use my device(s) I'm not particularly worried about it. I don't visit sleazy websites, accept certificates for sites I don't know are reputable, and don't install no-name apps with few downloads. It's not as if some malicious code is going to find your device passively; you'll have to be the one to put your device in jeopardy proactively. I'd suggest people block "Unknown sources" in settings and set the "Show security warnings" in the browser.
Well even chainfire mentions its not the full patch but just a workaround and it screws up the camera which may not be important for note 10.1 owner but is to S3 and Note 2
Well after people know about this patch many would try to screw up the device just for fun, there are many who are newbies who can be targeted
I too am not sure they'll release an update in Canada on that date, but I really hope they do. It's a perfect time to do so too. Shortly after Christmas where some might get it as a present & right after boxing day where people will get it on sale.

I dont have a indian tab, i just see the rom released at Samsung live update.
I just wrote it here to inform.
Cheers
Anything new in the update? I'm getting errors in Kies and the OTA says too many roll outs already happening. All I read was the notification bar is back on normal size, google drive is a built in app and that's about it. Any one of the Indian tab holders updated it?
Apart from the fact that it's not 4.1.2, its a good update. Notification panel is broad again and the tablet feels faster.

I got the update installed yesterday night. Yet to see what is better in this update. Gives some hope to me that Samsung is still supporting this model.
Samsung decided to be competent - just got a 13.33 MB software update that claims to improve stability and security fixes such as StageFright. I was completely convinced that it would still leave the CVE-2015-3864 behind but lo and behold Zimperium StageFright detector says not vulnerable!
Needless to say update your tabs. Hopefully we get 5.1.1 soon.
No update found in the P600 (Portugal, if the country matters, considering it's wifi only)
