And to use these roms it's good to have recovery for the phone...

Lastly, the battery life is pretty decent for a smartphone, to be correct with the matter. Every smartphone have "bad" battery life against none "smart"phones(dumbphones).
Hope this helps you !

I am using, B137 custom rom by Fibblesan from modaco.
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...rom-for-the-huawei-u8800-with-online-kitchen/
Reason.
Works flawlessly, can do normal calls, browsing the network, flash works perfectly and no shuttering lastly battery life is great, holds quite long. I would also point out that when questions are asked most help when they can @modaco.
I would say hearing opinion is a small reason to try a rom, biggest would be to experience the rom then see if its really good.

With 3g, wifi on and light web browsing I get around 11 hours of usage until next charge. If I do not play around for such long time it can hold for 3 days in sleep doing nothing. But if I do normal activity, which involves, music,web,3g,sms and some calls + games. I will have 20 % left from 08:00 to 23:00 and thats no problem 20% is fine enough for a night sleep, and charge in the morning !
so is like my galaxy ace, form 08:00 to 23:00, i use 70% of the battery, with the sincro on all the time, using my emal like sms, it means that i send a lot during all day, wifi turn on during 8 hours and some games and web.
i still dont have the x5 but iam waitting for it, but i thought that the battery could be longer

Why would it be longer?
First thing you need to understand, the concept of why smartphone battery sucks. They don't evolve as fast as the smartphones itself. No one seems to wish add more power into their small batteries for the smartphones, thus making it look stupid.

Yeah, software can only make sure a certain amount won't go to waste, for example stopping useless workload.
I don't mean to upset anybody, but I think that battery consumption is 80% related to the hardware and the rest to software. I used to have Wifi, bluetooth, 2 e-mail accounts with push on non stop, on my old Iphone 3G and battery used to hold for at least 2 days. Now, because this battery is 3 years newer, wouldn't you think that there should be improvements? The fact that you get 3 days out of this phone's battery, makes me think that you're lucky...I never got more than 2 days, with all sorts of ROMs, including FLB.
The rule "what you pay is what you get" reflects the reality here, quality hardware makes the difference, simple as that. I like the U8800, but to be able to get more life out of the battery, the quality of hardware needs big improvements.
As an example, the bluetooth on the Iphone use to work in the proximity of my car, but with the U8800 it disconnects while I'm in the car... not to mention the wifi, that's flaky as...I'm not bagging the U8800, for $300 brand new, it's definitely worth buying, but if you want a bit more quality, pay the difference and get the Desire or something.

First: No one who needs 3+ day battery should buy a smartphone! If you want a super battery, go to a dumbphone with a xpto 8+ days battery. I my opinion, a smartphone with a 24h battery (wifi on, 3G on, network data on, good brightness, some gps, etc) is the perfect deal. I couldn't 100% test the battery duration of the Huawei because it's still network locked, so I've done any calls and any sms/mms, but with wifi on, auto-sync, FB sync, tweetdeck sync, google account sync, some internet browsing, lots of social network browsing and good brightness, there's now 25h uptime and 32% remaing. Is this bad? I don't think so...
Second: Go ahead, compare a 500€ iPhone to a 150€ Huawei
BTW: It's network locked but I'm using the original SIM and it's working properly. I've done any calls or sms but it's not in flight mode, it's completely operational... Except for the fact that I aint no friends using TMN ahah SO, the battery duration isn't much affected by this fact.

Iphone is more than 3 years old and worth less than $100...Not sure what you're talking about. Or do you still think that Iphone 3g is worth 500??
The topic here was to decide if to buy U8800 or not. If you think that a "smart-phone"s battery should last 24h, then you deserve this phone... I'm thinking, "no go". You can get a whole lot more from a Desire.
In my view, the specification says 370h in standby, with wifi on, you should still get 100h...not 24h.
BTW, can you give me an example of an $300 "dumb-phone" ? )
só tiago, I can see that you are Portuguese, I'm to. so with a lot of using you can get one day of battery, with an extreme use. because for me I will use a lot the email because I use it like sms to.my girl that is out of the country so it should e on all the times. the rest us a normal use with calls something like 2 hours of phone calls.

Sorry, I thought you have the 4G... I take back what I said about 500€ iPhone.
370h only if it's sleeping all the time without data, syncs, wifi, etc... With a full smartphone use, 100h are impossible to get otherwise I think the user is not using it with full capacities... Like I said, with all-day wi-fi, sync, notifications, data transfer, good brightness, some GPS, browsing, sms, calls, etc etc (full smartphone use), get 24h+ battery is very hard... My 2 cents.
$300 dumbphone? A "dumbphone" is a phone for those who don't need a smart one, so I don't see the point of your question... If anyone is thinking on spending $300 on a phone, I doubt a dumbphone will do the needs.
(Sorry for my bad English)
What I meant was that you can't really find dumbphones any more, in less they are $20 or something... Anyway, the whole idea is that I think the battery should hold longer than 24h, with wifi and minimal usage. With this phone, you can barely achieve that...
If the initiator of this thread wants more battery life, he should reconsider.

I'm considering buying Diamond2 and glad to hear your experiences with device..I checked the forum posts and I noticed many problems like quick battery drain, heating issues
I also find good reviews of Omnia II so It is really difficult to decide between OmniaII and diamond2
OmniaII better hardware but bad UI and less support
Diamond2 better UI (touch flo 3d) and good support but hardware issues
Your help will be very appreciated
well, having TD2 for 5 months now, I cand say some things. I have read the forum from April till now and many problems have occured. But many of there, I haven't witnessed in my device. The whole idea is that luck plays a major part here. Depending on what device you receive.
My battery lasts about 4 days with some calls, music not so much internet and a lot of texting. Seems okay to me.
other problems ... practically non-existent. I must add that it all depends on what you want form your device. There a re many who start changing settings in registery, changing windows mobile and so on and they end up asking what to do. If you mind your own business, nothing bad will come to you
Hope this helps. Cheers!! <any more questions, will be happy to answer>

I have the TD2 and it's worked perfectly all along. The battery drain is a factor with heavy use, but not more so than any other smart phone.

Who said that I don`t use all features ? I just don`t use ALL the time...
I don`t need to be with my phone on hands all the time... I hardly use GPS (using Garmin Mobile XT), SMS text, MP3 player and phone calls.. Still can get this battery life.
Thank you for your replies,
With TESS 3.4 and Radio 3.47 I'd get 3 days with around a half-hour wifi use per day, light texting and calls, updating weather, g/f playing bubble breaker etc.
Very capable device, immensely happy with it.

Well, the problem is... All LEO ROMs are power drainers... Just try TESS 2F or Nataly`s ok!
i get average power drain on Dutty's ROM (R5).
lasts between 1.5-3 days...depending on what i do.
seeing as i use my bluetooth headset to listen to musice, while jogging/cycling in the forest and using the GPS/Garmin XT AND then browse WebCT at university via WiFi...i dont think ANY device would last much more than 1 day... and yet it does... AND i call and sms 1-5 times a day. (short calls though.)
as for the diamond as such, my ONLY complaint is the shiny back cover...i WISH it was matte (it will be soon with my matte acrylic paint coming)... everything else is AWESOME! (except the standard keyboard...i still have to find a new one i like.)
hope that helps
Hey guys! I'm a new user on this forum and I also a completely new android user, I have just gotten the HTC Desire HD. And I'm really really enjoying the OS. The way you can customize the OS is amazing! And Therefore I feel like I have been missing out for a while.
However there is one single problem about the HTC Desire HD and sadly it's a pretty big problem. (You guessed it,) the battery life. I'm not gonna lie, if i cut some features i can easily get through a whole day. But whats the point of buying a phone with lot's of features if you can't use them, and whats the point of having a 4.3" screen if you can't have the brightness level at 50+.
To the point!
HTC have already made updated batteries that have a much higher capacity than the original batteries, these are for some of their other products.
(just look at the higher capacity HD2 batteries by HTC, they have a higher capacity than the original HD2 batteries.)
That's why i suggest that we all contact HTC and let them know that we are both aware and annoyed by the horrible battery. And then request a better and improved battery for the Desire HD.
If you look at their updates, they have a pretty good history of listening to their customers.
And if their customer service department get about 300 requests in one single day I am absolutely sure that we will see a result in a month or maybe even faster.
I live in Denmark myself and I've seen a similar thread in
a Danish forum and in two days time we have had 183 people send mails to the Scandinavian HTC customer service.
Now there is only about 2000 active users on that forum so that's pretty good for two days. And with such a huge success in a Danish forum, I'm sure a big forum like this would do even better!
So if you have the time to write a little email to the HTC customer service telling them about the poor battery life and then make a request for a better battery, I (and probably every DHD user) would appreciate it.
And even if you are one of those lucky users that can go for days without charging while having standard settings, helping us wouldn't hurt.
Thanks in Advance
Well....although I do get your point, I am not sure that I, and probably other people as well, agree entirely on the 'horrible' battery life.
Yes, at first, it does look to have poor capacity when you get your DHD out of the box.
But remember, a lot of people, if not allm are using their new toy a lot the first couple of days.
If you browse this forum and the DHD topics you'll see that people report a lot better battery life after a couple of charges.
In addition to this, when you get into rooting and flashing, you'll see that users with custom roms, custom kernels and special profiles setup in Setcpu (like less Mhz usage when the screen is off) actually even get better battery life out if their DHD....
In essence, from what I have read, most people are able to use their DHD for one day without charging, which in my opinion, is quite acceptable, considering the size of the screen, the speed of the device and the possibilities and syncing going on....
If I sometimes read other cells'threads, it appears to me that the battery life on the DHD is not that far off, or even is better, than other top devices....
Having said that.....the effort you take I understand for sure, I just am not sure that HTC will do anything about it (as I think what we get is what we should expect)...
Where is the solution in that? Infact there is no solution its how it is

DHD battery life sucks.
There is no point defending it. Its a bloody mobile phone, it supposed to be able to work out of box, not a science project that u have to spend days tweaking it in order to last a day without the bloody adapter!

I just don't get it this was my first proper Android phone after coming from a HD2 and an iPhone 4 and the battery life is on par with both out of the box however simply reducing the time some apps sync I mean can you really not wait the 2 sec ish Twitter etc take to update? Really does improve battery life I have my screen set to 30% brightness which is more than enough if not you need specsavers not a new battery.
At a push I can get 2 days out of my DHD and I would say I'm a average to heavy user about 30 min calls 50 odd text and a couple of hours playing games surfing the net
Gadget show last night drained an iPhone 4 from full charge to flat in 2 hours using the layer app

Unplug mine from charging about midnight, get home from work between 18.30 and 20.30 and most nights I have approx 30-40% battery left, LiOn batteries need multiple charge / discharge cycles to get the best out of them so no phone is gonna be at it's best outta the box.

it seems that some people have a very good battery life even with heavy use,and some don't. I am new to android having come from windows mobile. In winmo devices, the radio version on the device can make a difference to the battery life on similiar devices.maybe this is the same case on DHD because I noticed there are several version of stock roms with different built of radio image.

There isn't really a benchmark for "heavy user". I reckon its largely due to different interpretations. Throw the difference in batteries that are likely to exist due to the manufacturing process, and you'd get varying reported results.

why do people complaint so much about battery life of DHD and other smartphone. when you look at their capabilities, you wouldn't switch your laptop on an expect it to last all day. cause its a smartphone doesn't mean it can do everything for you!
if the battery really bad, then the is a fault i.e faulty battery, app which is eating up resources, radio constantly changing from 2g to 3g which i think one of the biggest drain on battery or a set up which just going to drain battery faster etc etc. These phone when "out of the box" are set up to show the phone off, so yes its going to have it all sing and dancing at you! with everything switched on why you taylor the setting to meet your needs. please don't come back and say "but yes why have i got a smartphone and then i have to switch off all these features" you don't but don't expect it to last all day.
sorry about the rant but i think some people just have unrealistic expectations how long a smartphone can last. people who complain that the phone cant last 24hrs, why would you want it to last that long?. you telling me you don't sleep in that period of time if you want a phone to last 2 days get a nokia 8950! an if your a person who uses it as a business phone, come on what do you expect? your a heavy user. use some sense, have it so you can charge on the go or a get a nokia 8950 as your business phone, an use your smartphone as your own phone.

True, but i honestly cant see why it would hurt to encourage HTC to make a new battery with higher capacity as a part of their accessory lineup for the Desire HD.
sorry yeah i do agree with you, that HTC sould bring out a higher capactiy battery and don't understand why HTC have not used a higher capactiy battery in first place. ive also have a X10(1500mAh) and BB storm2(1400mAh) both have higher capactiy, and X10 is the worst for battery life out of the 3 phones and DHD beats both these phone on battery life.
HTC have the reasons why they used that size battery for the DHD and if they do bring out a higher capactiy at least you can believe the claims of it being a 1800mAh, were these 3rd party batteries claim 1800mAh but really you only getting 1400mAh.
i was not aiming this rant at you, an im sorry, its to people that complain about battery life of todays smartphone and there expections of them.

Mine is using about 4 an hour. But I figure that's cos I rarely properly exit apps.

i'm very happy with the phone. the only caveat i really have (which a lot of people don't seem to have) is battery life. i get about 13-14 hours with 3-4 hours of display-on time, while others have been reporting double that.
as far as motoblur is concerned, if you just get another launcher and use Titanium Backup Pro to freeze motoblur Home and other services, then you won't even have to think about it.

I should be receiving my Atrix for AT&T tomorrow, this will be a HUGGGGGGEEEEEE upgrade from my measly HTC Hero (Sprint CDMA) that I have modified to the ends of the Earth. I'm in need of more power and amazed at the stuff you can do with the Atrix.
My question to you all, has this phone met or surpassed your expectations? Did it fail to achieve those expectations? Tell me what you think of this phone, I have been reading so many reviews about the phone I feel like I know all technological aspects about the phone as well, haha.
How fast were you to get rid of MotoBlur?

I think I can speak for a lot of people in saying that, as far as the Atrix goes, I am in love with the "potential" this phone has. But as far as meeting those expectations, well, that's something to be debated. There are areas where the dual core shines and other areas it seems it is not harnessing the full power. Then couple that with AT&T's network restrictions and Motorola's lockdown on the device, I'm going to have to say that I am disappointed in the Atrix as of now. That could change if there is a break through in the bootloader or if AT&T gets its act together and starts offering the "High speeds" we were promised. Only problem is though, my 30 days is almost up and I don't know if I can hold onto the phone in hopes of "potential".
Coming from a captivate I love this phone...everything works includi.g the gps. Most of motoblur is gone on my phone. The phone is amazingly fast but does have an occasional hiccup. An unlocked bootloader would turn this into the best available android phone but its one of the top

I'm in the same boat. In terms of hardware, this phone is a beast. I can even live with the screen quality and the terrible camera. But software side, I am really hoping to see a unlocked bootloader or I might be very tempted to take this phone back...

Yeah, I'm high up on the fence because if I do return it I am going to switch carriers as well.
I'm really enjoying it... coming from a Tilt2, it's a major upgrade. Straight out of the box, it's very enjoyable... I'm not dissapointed at all.. it's only going to get better once they get this beast unleashed
Camera is quick and decent.
GPS is amazingly fast...
Browser is snappy and loads everything great
WiFi is a little weak...
and I actually like the screen.. It's not best screen ever made, but it's actually a very nice display.
I was getting terrible battery life, but somehow a hard-reset solved that problem, and i'm able to get more than a day of heavy use no problem.
Just picked up a second one for the wife (coming from an iphone 3g) and she's really enjoying it a lot as well
I like the Atrix. I upgraded from an iPhone 3G. I realize that it's not the best it can be as far as unlocking right now, but it is better than what I had. I only wish I could afford the webtop dock right now for times I'm on the road. Nothing a netbook couldn't fix though.
as far as the battery, it really has to do with what you're doing. I've seen mine go 39 hours over a weekend with normal use, or 16 hours when i'm streaming pandora constantly at work. My building for work also isn't great for signal, so the phone is constantly working for signal, which uses battery.
The other day i did ~5 hours of pandora at work, then fired up the GPS, which was on for ~1.5 hours guiding me, screen on, not plugged in. few phone calls and web use and it was almost dead after 15 hours.
This phone is miles better than the aria i had before it, and it will only get better as more things are updated to take advantage of the tegra 2 platform. Won't matter if this phone gets cracked or not, it will get better and better for a while either way.

Wow... 39 hours. I get about 17 hours of use from it, which is much better than any other smartphones I've ever used so I'm happy... but I can't imagine hitting that number. I do have bluetooth and wifi on all the time.
I like my Atrix, the only problems i see is that the webtop is very limited, but some people over the developer section are working on that, and also the speeds which since T-Mobile was bought it definitely will become faster alongside with HSPA+ and LTE being utilized together. It has lots of potential to run REALLY great, but this is the first phone of its kind, it'll always have problems in the beginning.

and that cuts the battery way down. powering all the radios is a large power drain. I never turn on a radio i don't need, so 90% of the time wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc are off. Mobile data is always on, and i i never try and tell it to revert to 2g.

see... i wish i had that same kind of success.
It's always hard to determine battery life from these posts because people's definition of "moderate" and "heavy" usage differ a lot. This is why it would be nice if the phone had gingerbread where the battery plot actually shows the wake time, wifi time, signal strenth, display on, etc. so people could quote their results rather than just guestimating. The best way to tell is really just display on time since that's pretty much the biggest draw.
Based on my limited testing I can get about 4-5 hours of display on time with auto brightness. The absolute best I could squeeze out of my nexus S is almost 4 hours which is to be expected since it's 1930mah vs. 1500mah. I MIGHT do some battery drain tests before I return the Atrix but I'm not sure... those take time. I know the Nexus S can go about 7-8 hours playing a video while in airplane mode so I'm wondering what the Atrix could achieve.

We do have all those indicators in the Battery manager. I average about 13-14 hours with 3-4 hours of display, unless i'm doing something like streaming March Madness via flash, then it drops to like 7 hours with 2-3 hours of display.
Love it.
Honestly out of all the phones i've had this is the main one.
Screen great looking.
Speed is unreal and I mean like lightening fast :O
The games and apps that work just look and run crazy good!
Camera imo is great not going to replace main cameras but great for stills and videos, would be nice to see the 1080p recording update out soon though
Motoblur stuff which I like :O lol can be frozen and a custom launcher introduced without you even thinking about the motoblur lag.
Battery life is very good I can get a whole day at college 8:30 until 6 heavy usage and still get home with 30-40% left which is great to me
Fingerprint reader is also a great little feature that gets yours friends a little jealous lol
Only thing I don't like is the battery door creaks, I know its nothing major but its just a little annoyance other than that the build quality is great very sleek device!
I'm really bored with my Atrix there's no developement community. You can't do **** with a locked bootloader. Even the iphone is more open than this pos. It's going back tommorrow **** motorola.

I'm a firm believer in the "garbage in, garbage out" philosophy. Yes this phone has one or two legitimate issues (touch screen acting up after x seconds continuous touch), but for the most part is good. How many apps do you have installed? How many do you actually use? Every month i clean out my phone of apps that haven't been used in a couple weeks. I usually see a little bump in battery life each time since less apps are itching to use the data connection or other resources.
how many widgets are you running? I don't really notice it on the Atrix, but on my aria when i had 5 home screens riddled with widgets, it was laggy and slow. Drop it down to 2 screens with a simple setup, and it was snappy.
My point is, most of the time, little issues are probably user generated. I see it all the time with computers. But it's way easier to blame the hardware and software than look for the cause of your problem. again, i'm not down playing the few legitimate issues.
next time i pull a 39hour run i'll post specifics of what i was using it for in the battery thread.
I'm very happy with mine. I don't have much of a desire to put a custom ROM on, so the locked bootloader isn't an issue. The speed of this device is just levels beyond my Nexus One. I can't remember a time so far where I've had any lag. Plus, I don't have to worry about app space the way I did with the N1.
Hey Guys,
Not sure if anyone has ever posted this but I thought I would share how I am able to get 2 days plus on single charge...
I only recomend this if you are not totally dependent on your email, facebook, gtalk, etc to sync.
I have my email accounts on my phone but I don't need to receive them instantly meaning they are not dire important so this works for me.
Android's biggest battery killer, which most of you probably know, is data syncing in background and just data connection in general. What I personally do is keep 3G data off at all times by going to settings->wireless and networks->mobile networks->3G Data and uncheck it.
Obviously with this off, you wont be able to connect to web, get emails, download apps, etc... But if you live in a 4G area like me, all I do every once in awhile is flip on 4G from dropdown let it sync or do what I got to do then flip 4G back off so there is no connection anymore... This will save so much of your battery but it is up to you to check things when you need to....
I hope this helps some people because it helps me a lot... I always recommend this to customers that come in my store if they are not depending on work email and such...
Let me know if you have any questions!
You can hold down the power button and click Data mode to toggle 3g
I have done those things since I've had this phone in august and everytime I talk about getting great battery life the haters come out and say well you didn't have sync on blah blah. Freaking retards. Especially if you are sleeping why not turn off sync for the email that is not going to come anyways. I haven't seen the battery life yet as I did since eclair though.

Actually my biggest killer is display. Our devices our the only ones with 90%+ battery usage for display, yet they advertised that it required 20% less battery!

I get 56 hours using Ultimate Juicedefender.
Wow...i use to get great battery life. I'm using lowest brightness setting, sfr, and ultimate juice defender and getting only like 16 to 24 hours of life.
What else are you guys doing? I use to get 50 hours but not anymore..

I am not sure, I keep lowest brightness and keep data off almost all day except for occasional checking but maybe 10 minutes total of data being on... I have noticed with EC05 battery life lowered even on complete stock... Most people in my store hve epics and all have suffered worse battery since the update... It didnt matter if it was OTA or OTW...
Maybe try and get a new battery...
I think the reasons the 'haters' come out is simply because you're stating your getting better battery life and then revealing you're castrating your phone. It is a smartphone after all. It's supposed to do all those things you turn off. This isn't a phone which is only supposed to make calls. I mean, if I wanted to check my email once a day, I'd simply do it while I'm in front of a computer.
I don't believe I'm one of said-haters but possibly providing a bit of information on where they're coming from as well.
I think it's well documented that Android phones pretty much suck in terms of battery life, especially when compared to Blackberry. Man, RIM got it right on that aspect.

How is that castrating your phone? I can still do everything else on the phone... You don't need a constant data connection to use it like a PDA. Do all tabs have a constant data connection? No, so are they not going to be considered PDA because they lack internet sometimes? no
I am sorry to say but if your managing your phone and doing things to better, that is not castrating, that is good device management and what should be done so it runs how you want...

Well, it sorts of like taking a porsche and not pushing it past 2nd gear. Some people are happy with it, some are not. On one hand, battery saving posts can be thought as misleading, if the premise is that you dont compromise any functionality. I prefer to charge my phone everyday and not worry about battery, but when your battery is dying when you need it in the evening, than one is of a different opinion entirely.
One thing which I realized to late, is if you are at work in the office or somewhere with wifi, you can toggle 3G off and not lose any functionality, since wifi uses a lot less juice.
I have tried I new battery, I have three that I alternate between. I have no idea what has happened to my phone. It could be the phone itself

And I did say from the beginning what it does and what you loose from it... The only reason it was posted was to try and help people who may be newer to android and needing to squish extra minutes out of their phone for the day... Or they may find themselves not near a charger and almost dead and need their phone so turn off data to preserve the battery... I mean it doesn't "cripple" your phone to turn off data... I can still play angry birds, check my calendar, call people, text, etc. You don't need your phone to have data to use its features...

Hi guys i know there are lots of similar posts about battery life etc but cant find the answer im looking for after a search of this forum as all answers seem to be on rooted devices, she does not want her x8 rooted and im really getting it in the neck for upgrading her in the first place lol.
My girlfriend recently got the 2.1-update 1 via pc companion and thats when the battery problems started. The battery drain problem has actually been getting progressively worse since this. This morning (after yet another full night charging 100%) after 30 mins of getting up today the battery was down to 83 %. I have already uninstalled maps updates, not that she ever used it anyway.
So my question is : is there a solution to this without rooting and/or having a custom ROM? becuase she making my life a misery lol.
Thanks in advance guys and sorry for the similar post

Nah, rooting makes the difference. IMO Froyo ROMs have good battery life.
Well i think she might well have to go custom because the battery life is a joke now, nearly rendering her device unusable, think she just frightened cos i did her pc companion update and kinda blames me for the crap battery now, il have a read around the x8 forum on how to root.

My friend, less RAM is actually a good thing. I've read through the web. just don't auto kill ALL the apps, kill those apps that when it doesn't look right or freezes. The more RAM you freed, the more battery it will drain. Serious.

I'm just a noob trying to help.
use a task killer and disable all what you don't need like bluetooth, data traffic, gps and wifi. yes i know my english is bad^^
disable wifi, gps, bluetooth and data traffic. stock 2.1update rom should get you about 3 days with those disabled. any apps that need them will ask you to switch them on again anyway. It's a little annoying to get used to at first especially when you're used to a fone that lasts a week without charge so I can understand how she feels especially if she only wants to text and do a few calls.
If you don't use wifi, 3g gps and rest of the s**t you should probbably buy a dumy phone.
With some "normal" usage you can be happy if it lasts for a day/day and a half.
2-3 is really success.
You do get a charger in the box with the phone you know?
Use your phone, stop wasting time on battery monitoring.

yeah but the idea is it's a MOBILE fone.. You dont want it plugged into the damn socket all the time!
If you need to use the GPS, WIFI etc. the app will ask you to switch it on so wheres the harm in turning it all off until it's required if it saves having to plug the thing in every day?!?
Nobody stated you should keep all the functions on.
But it should be understandable that, with some "normal" use, and by normal I mean regular texting, phonecalls, check facebook/twitter, refresh weather app, read mail and some news maybe you can't expect your battery to last 7 days like on dummy nokia.
Besides, you all forget that your biggest battery killer is the screen.
And another thing I noticed; when LED starts to glow green, your battery isn't fully charged. Check phone status. It becomes green after passing 90% I think, or so.
And the second thing I noticed is a HUGE differenc when charging the phone while it's on, for a hour and a half when the battery metter reaches 100% and when I turn it off and leave it charging over night.
The "night" option proved to be a lot better (battery lasts longer, doesn't fall so fast) + Every once in a while it is good to fully discharge the battery and then fully charge it.

Yeah, but that mobile phones have long since ceased to be just phones.
Switch off everything you can : wifi, brighteness, gps etc. Also you can make a profile "screen off " in setcpu and set it to 122mhz . it will save you a lot of battery! It drains just 1% after 5 hours ( but i didnt use my phone) . Hope it help.
Oh yeah and use the app called " fast reboot " it is so good is well and it speed up our lovely x8
When i used these things , my phone lasts in a week or more of.course i nearly didnt use my phone.

I installed this rom last week and at first, the batter was brilliant. It lasted for three days but now I have to charge it twice a day. I have bluetooth off, wifi off more often than not, brightness down very low.
The phone was 5hrs on battery and was down to 44%.
Cell Standby: 35%
Display: 20%
Phone Idle: 19%
Launcher Pro: 13%
Anyone have any ideas?
I also experienced the same problem ... especially with the overclocked conditions
