Atrix Lag - Atrix 4G General

I notice a lot of lag with my phone sometimes, you'd expect with it being dual-core to have no lag at all. Is there something wrong with my phone?

just wait for Gingerbread OTA this month, and everything will be fine

Yes, that's moto blur. Froyo can't use dual core right now, Gingerbread can't either, but will be much better at using the resources it can use.

So when CM7 is available this phone should be a lot faster?

you can make this alot better now by downloading one of the other launchers from the market place. i posted about this problem only a week or so ago as i was a new atrix user also. I have downloaded ADW EX and it has made the phone a lot faster now.

I've tried ADW and Zeam and my Atrix still lags. Lets hope gingerbread can fix this, as it is completely unacceptable that a dual core phone lags this way when top single core phones don't lag like this (at least my Galaxy S didn't).

Motorola is not good in software development. You have to thanks because you can unlock your bootloader and in the future, it's going to be possible to put the rom you want and put the motoblur in the garbage.

Im rooted with launcher pro. Live wallpapers always make my launcher lag bad. I go back to static wallpaper and its fast again. Just a bandaid fix till better roms are out.

MIUI Rom for Fascinate?

Any chance we could see this ported to the fascinate?
Yes we will, it will be based off of Zenulator's build if I get his permission to do so. Just got to wait until 2.2 becomes available.
Then will try to tackle the HTC Ace build afterwards with help from Jamezelle but that will probably take awhile, dont know how Sense will function with the Samsung hardware as opposed to the Omap that Droid has based on Jamezelle's work.

MIUI will be pretty straightfoward, not any hardware integration like Sense is so its mainly pushing the framework over with a couple modifications. The main issue has been the language locale but they have fixed and patched that already.
Sense will take forever, probably will never get completed all the way unless a custom RIL is finished, everything else takes time.

Glad to hear it! I'd port it myself if I had the skills sadly my skills end at adb and flashing ROMs I'll be more then happy to donate though once it comes about it's the least I can do.
MIUI FTW! Glad to hear that's getting worked on and really could care less about Sense otherwise I would've bought an Incredible. Thanks for the work though! Mucho appreciated!

I completely agree! I don't know why everyone is so obsessed with Sense yet doesn't buy HTC devices. Then asks devs to do the impossible I mean we all know how well porting it to the Droid went. I'm extremely excited to see all of the custom ROMS that the devs are going to come out with!
Incredible owner here.
Ive started following the fascinate section because my wife will be getting one soon and i cant wait to get my grubby hands on it. I love MIUI on my phone and would really like to put it on hers. Hope it gets done! Good luck Devs!!
I put MIUI on my spare Droid 1. There are some cool things about it with most of the cool features residing in the stock launcher. Therein lies the problem. The MIUI launcher is laggy even when I'm overclocked to 1.25ghz.
Now I'm not saying my fascinate can't handle it better with the hummingbird and extra ram BUT I will say there will need to be some optimization first. If I have to use launcher pro plus to get a smooth launcher with MIUI, I will pass.

My friend has been running MIUI for days and hasn't had any issues with the ROM itself as far as bugs go, he's also seeing significant gains in battery life. His phones been unplugged for 24hrs with 60% of battery left with pretty decent usage. Are you running the latest version?
where can i get this and try it

MIUI < CM6... Kaos is doing CM6/CM7 already . End. The only thing cool about the miui rom for other phones is the pulldown toggles. CM like i said before, copied that a few weeks after the miui rom came out on the nexus one, then we had the toggles on CM so i went back. Miui rom has an option to turn down your cpu clock speed as a toggle, but i use setcpu to do that when i know im not going to use the phone like that i turn it down to 600, but i need 1.2 ghz kernel for there to be a 600 so right now i just use 800 all the time unless im gaming ... no reason to use the extra 200 mhz ... it just eats battery faster. and these kernels aren't oc'd and uv'd on froyo... so until then... 800/200 runs sweeeeet. keeps that 100 (where i get no signal) off my charts
MIUI is a more user friendly interface so some people may like it.

I played w/ it for a little bit and felt that it wasn't very customizable and if THATS how WP7 is, boy is microsoft in for some pain.. hell, the iPhone is more customizable than WP7 appears to be (if this launcher closely mimics the customizability of WP7 very well)

I'd love to have it, with the recent reports showing the horsepower that it have coupled with Sense 3.0 that would be the perfect phone to have
If people want the HTC Sense experience then they should look at a HTC Phone. Although a Port is possible, its very time consuming and by the time someone actually port's it over with all the drivers working, your device will be close to the yearly refresh and you will want the next best thing. This will leave the developer in a limbo where his efforts didnt truly pay off.

It's not possible, Galaxy S is half baked, Nexus S also try, half baked. Samsung uses totally different structure on android Nexus S can't even port TouchWiz and its the same manufacturer. I would love to get S II spec wise it blows the Sensation out.

Id say its all about taste. Personally I think motorola's UI is the worst, followed closely by the apple wannabe touchwiz. Funny, I actually hated sense as well at first, but now that im using it for a while, I LOVE IT.
Also, its because htc has added soooo much functionality, like finding/wiping/ringing from anywhere(laptop) incase its lost, or stolen, etc. Plus auto-backup of messages, apprx 100 very useful widgets, plus may apps wich save you a lot of time if you had to download one by one. Basically, its a complete package that looks good and offers functionality that no other manufacturer can even come close to, especially being built in from start. no headaches. I myself wish it could be ported but I doubt, especially with how "involved" its gotten lately

I had a Galaxy S, then Atrix and now Inspire. Next I'm buying Galaxy S II because the bootlogger is unlocked and I want the light weight, dual core processor power and video enhancements.
The Inspire is amazing. I like it far better than the Atrix because I can put custom roms on it. I was able to root the Atrix and do a few modifications but it was very limited. I strongly recommend the Inspire.
The Sensation is locked down as is the Atrix. If you want a good out of the box phone Atrix is as good as you get until the Galaxy S II arrives. Sensation will be great but probably about the same as the Galaxy S II.
It is hard to recommend a phone without knowing what you do with your phone. For me the unlocked boot logger is the difference between buying and not buying.
Personally I prefer Sense.I think that Samsung have basically copied the iPhone in design and UI. If someone could remove the native Samsung bloat and add sense, all would be good in the world(for me at least)

Sent from my RafDroidHD using Tapatalk
I think we can. If enough people that have bought a SGS2 ask for sense then I am sure someone(developer) will be willing to design it for SGS2. From what I have seen of custom roms so far, I think that there are some more than capable developers out there that could do it. If I could write code I definitely would(perhaps I should start learning. The only question is can an old dog(me) learn new tricks?????)

Unlaggy Atrix?

So I had my hands on an ATT MB860, 4.5.91, Gingerbread Atrix, but returned it due to the immense lag with live wall papers and the incorrectly working speakerphone.
Does an unlaggy (with lwp) Atrix exist? I've seen a couple of demo 2.3.4. Atrix's at my local (United States) ATT stores, and seen that they react the same wya (immense lag, but quick to open web pages and apps). Are laggy Atrix's a result of quality control or the FW? Or does an unlaggy Atrix exist?
I dont experience any lag on my Atrix - I've had it since Feb 21st of this year. Got it on pre-order.

Sorry.... I now have the chance of either getting a Nexus S, or a replacement Atrix for my ATT service. I've heard of some Atrix's being flawlessly fast and smooth regardless, however, I still have not seen it with my phone + a couple of ATT's stores demo models. I was wondering if I should jump to a "future-proof" dual core Atrix or a presently smooth Nexus S.
Only you can answer that question.
Uhm, doesn't the AT&T Nexus S NOT have 4G?

In addition to what you mentioned, speed, memory management (so many launcher redraws and apps closing with only 512 MB of RAM), and screen resolution are what makes the Atrix better for me.
However, the Nexus has a much brighter and more colorful screen, albeit with a lower resolution. Personally, I like the higher res screen on the Atrix.
About the only thing the NS has over the Atrix is the fact that it's supported by Google.

Afternoon all,
just bought a galaxy tab 10.1 but not entirely impressed. Feels a bit laggy to me. I have an ipad2 too which hardly lags and works flawlessly.

Sockmonk3y's Sticky guide in the development section tells you exactly what to do. I like how he added a section right into the guide saying, if you want a custom ROM, now is the time. Sure helps know when to do it.
Personally, I like go launcher hd, which is just out of beta and the options to customize and theme it are almost non-existing so far, so I can't say its the best. I like go launcher ex a lot with So many themes and stuff to customize it rocks. But if you decide to go with go launcher hd later its a pain to start over.

I would suggest you root your tab immediately and if you are not too concerned with the Camera you should install ICS Kang from AOKP. But other wise best HC choice is GalaxyTask 14.
Galaxytask14 has some lag but the ICS roms are literally flawless and has amazing mods and one of the biggest secrets behind the ICS speed is that they do not have Samsung's bloat-ware.
So if you are one of those people who loves flawless experience at the expense of camera (until Samsung releases a rom with the Camera driver) ICS would be your best friend and believe me I have come from IOS too so I was always after total smoothness that I have found in ICS.
Hope this helps .................
