I get facebook notifications, but when I select them, the app does not launch :/. Haven't reinstalled since I'm not that bothered TBF

Has facebook notifications every worked consistently on any phone? Perhaps uninstall the app and reinstall

Not to be off topic or anything but I always disable the Facebook notifications and use Gmail instead. Its way better and you get notified every time...no problems.

I like the gmail idea, but I don't want loads of extra stuff in that particular account. Is there another workaround?

Try FriendCaster for Android?

Get bloo from here. The one on the market is outdated. This one is a leaked beta which works just fine and includes chat as well
Edit: Yes, you can view the notifications in the app.

Nexus S 4G and Facebook sync

Is anyone able to sync your Facebook contacts with your Nexus S 4G using the Facebook android app?
I own both the EVO 3D and the Nexus S 4G. The EVO 3D does sync contacts using the Facebook android app. In the Nexus S 4G I don't even have the option within the Facebook app to choose sync.

For some reason the NS4G doesn't. Look for a free app in the market called Facebook Sync seems to work well.

Ty for the info

Misconception evo syncs facebook through sense. Google cut it off since facebook doesn't allow exporting of info

Android 2.3.3+ disables it; certain phones anyway - other threads on the topic.

Gmail problem

I'm running the rom acs ics eh17 v6 with nubernel and theme with phone apk removed. Well for some reason I'm not getting any notifications from my gmail app anymore. But I can get my gmail with a 3rd party one. Is there something I did wrong that's causing my gmail not to work properly?

I had the same issue. I needed to go into Settings/Accounts and Sync, select my gmail account and recheck the options I wanted synced. This is the first time I ever had to do this after flashing a rom, perhaps the same thing has happened to you.

New Notification

I've been running CM7 since the last "Alpha" release and have it updated with the Oct 22 update. I don't recall exactly when, but I started recieving these "optout" notifications. I don't know if it's related to CM7 or something else, but they're not cool at all . Does anyone know where they're coming from or how to stop them?
An app you installed

The only app I have installed now that was not before I switched to CM7 is Go SMS Pro. Has anyone had any experience with it?
Go sms pro doesn't do that, but i don't use go fb chat. What opens when you click it?
Edit :

Found this after a bit of research. Looks like an adbased app on your phone is using their apk. Seems they do support opt out, but aren't doing a good job a securing your identity period.

I'm not going to click those %^#$%#$%#$ Spam messages... I clear all the notifications. The only features of Go SMS Pro I use are SMS & MMS. I don't have Facebook, Myspace, Google+ or any other "Social networking" (Read: Stalking) crap. Want nothing to do with any of them. Any ideas how I can track down where it came from? I've looked at the installed apps and services with Titanium Backup and nothing stands out. Unless One of the other apps got 'updated' to include this new 'feature', Go SMS seems the most likely suspect at the moment.

wats a myspace?
Although I usually have 150-200+ apps installed at any one time, I started getting those annoying little "notifications" almost as soon as I installed the free version of the IPhone keyboard. Not cool at all...
How often do they come up? Is it at a predetermined time or is it random? A relatively easy way to narrow it down may be to look at market reviews of suspected apps.
Girlfriend had this problem. There's an app called airpush detector on the market. Download it to see what's causing the ads

What SMS app do you use?

Hey guys. With the new hangouts there are a lot of the features from previous SMS apps missing. Like the quick pop up reply from notification menu and multiple contacts.
I like hangouts and to be honest I'd like to use just one app only. Using Textra and it is awesome but can I uninstall hangouts and just use Textra on its own? What you guys use

I use google voice, barely any improvements, very buggy. But I haven't found anything better for texting thru voice. Also kakaotalk which is very bloated. I want a clean app that has option to send/not send push notifications. Know any?
I'm glad u said Hangouts is mandatory, I hate that. Can't we revert back to an older version and not be forced to use proprietary crap.
Hangouts is NOT mandatory, you can use any texting app you want.

Yea totally not Mandatory I used it for a week or so as my default sms application but then i switched back to the regular that came with the phone.
I use Hangouts. Its functional and full featured. The only annoying thing is that convos with the same person are separated by SMS and IM hangouts.
