After a few hours of using the phone, certain parts of the screen become un responsive and i have to reboot to fix it. Im using Cyanogenmod #104 right now (its happened since, well from the beginning)
Any fixes to this? Im using the latest Telus radio too (not that it mattered)
try different rom and see what happens, i doubt it's rom issue
Does it fix itself if you let it sit for a bit? I would say to reflash the ROM or try something else like ARHD which is the most stable Sense ROM we have at the moment I believe.
I doubt its hardware because as you say it is only temporary until reboot.
Make sure you do a full wipe and flash a ROM. Then we will take it from there.

Hi all, I suddenly have problems flashing roms and installing cabs...
This is the case with Dutty's rom, kumars rom and a few others (topix). They install fine but after installing my applications and restoring my pim data it hangs in the white boot screen (with the HTC text and red info about rom, radio and such in the bottom left).
Even after hard resetting this seems to be the case. It boots sometimes normally, sometimes it hangs on the orange windows screen, but in the end after setting up most of the stuff hanging on the white screen again. I haven't changed any cabs since my previous roms. Could apps be the cause of these issues?
Have flashed tons of roms already, mostly SSPL and since a day or 2 I installed HSPL to do the flashing. Could that have anything to do with it? Have been using this phone for a month and a half I think without any problems.
Going to flash one last time for tonight (work calling again in a few hrs :/) and only restore pim data to see how that goes...

Maybe your card is kind of "critical", making the flash kind of bad?
Didn´t have any issues with either Dutty´s, nor with topix...

Hmmm, my card? I flash from the pc... No card is used, also flashed the last time without sd card in it.
I also have flashed topix and dutys before and had no problems at all, I suddenly got issues after flashing Kumars rom (not blaming it! Plenty of ppl very happy with it!) and after that the same with others...
Meh, waiting for the sms-hotfix to finish installing now. Just finished flashing again and restoring data (and installing a few cabs). Hopefully I can actually start using it again, at least until the weekend.
I think what he means is try to reformat your card. Even though you flash with PC some of the newer HTC Sense with Documents tab write and read data from the storage card. If it is corrupted or bad it can cause a lot of problems.
I have had this happen twice in the past and the format cleared the problem.

Ah ok, haven't installed the versions with the document tab though but worth a try I guess.
Otherwise I'll reflash the Turkish 1.61 WWE (or was it the t-mobile 2.01 version) rom again and reflash roms from there. Perhaps I'll flash with the SSPL again to see if that makes a difference.
Phone still working for now, hardly installed anything and just restored pim data. Guess I'll leave it like that for now :/
Hmmm, I now flashed a firmware using the SD card method and that seems to have worked fine... Hope it's fixed now.

This has been happening to me quite frequently. I am not sure why this is happening. I am flashing Stock ROM and try to flash the Cooked ones.
I DO NOT want to go the Mitty way and screw up my device if something goes wrong. So I hope the Stock flash would help me this time around. I just flashed the 1.66 Stock ROM and am planning to flash Dutty's 1.3 WWE to see how it goes. Hope this would fix the issue.
I guess my device is taking the hit with the ROM flashings. Got to rest my baby with a stable ROM for a while.

Excellent choice. This is what I did to refresh my HD2 from all the flashing in the past 4 days:
1. Flash back to the Shipped ROM (hopefully you have a copy of the shipped ROM, someone posted a link to the thread here somewhere)
Important!!! Make sure you have the RIGHT Shipped ROM. I made a mistake thinking my ROM was WWE Europe when it was WWE Asia. Got an error flashing (since it was looking for the right CID, etc.) but I got it sorted out. (I couldn't even get to the white htc splash... only bootloader mode)
2. Flashing to the shipped ROM apparently triggers a "task 28" like MTTY state, restoring your HD2 to stock (formatting, etc.)
3. Now that your back to Stock, re-run HSPL
4. Download you favorite Cooked ROM and start Flashing like Day 1
Optional Step 5. When you've found the ROM you plan to stick with Then my customizations begin (Manila tweaks, Reg Tweaks, App Tweaks, App Installs, etc.) (I am currently on a very stable Cooked ROM... YMMV of course...)
Optional Step 6. Backup using SPB or Sprite and keep backup handy so when I need to reflash or hard reset (assuming its the same ROM or maybe a slight upgrade) I just run my backup and get back up and running in no time.
Happy Flashing everyone!
Hi Guys, hoping somebody can help me here... I used to use an older ROM on my HTC HD2 (NAND) that worked fine, but wanted to reflash my phone and give it to my old man as I've just got a HTC EVO 3d.
Anyway, I've flashed a couple of new ROMS (Energy 10.3.2011) and HD2_CoreDroid...
They flash ok (Im using clockworkmod), but I seem to be getting some strange artifacts on the screen from time to time. Mostly around the buttons... I would describe them as horizontal lines across the buttons, and they seem to change (ie, looks like they are animated).
So, it might be something I'm doing wrong with the setup prior to flashing the rom (I get the same problem in both roms, and copilot doesn't work - ie, loads, but nothing happens).
Anyway, this is what I am doing.
Task29 via HTC Tools
Go to Recovery:
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Wipe cache partition
- Advanced -> Wipe dalvik cache
What I am not sure about is the HTC Tools MAGLDR re-partition details.
I tried:
Cache Size (left hand side) 5MB
Cache Size (right hand side) 5MB
Custom: Repartition - 180MB
What I don't understand is what size partition I should create on the SD card... I've tried 1024MB (I have a sandisk 16GB card).
I'm using MAGLDR 1.13, Clockworkmod v3.0.0.5
baseband version: 15.39.50.07U_2.10.50.26
Kernal: 2.6.32.15_HierOS_test_notbtfix (is this correct)
Just to clarify, the phone comes from Australia and was under win6.1 Telstra.
I'm happy to see if I can take a video and post that up it if helps (to show the screen jaggies).
Could I be using the wrong ROM and need to upgrade that? Maybe my screen is just stuffed ! (although it was fine before I started to put a new rom on it!)
Any help really appreciated.
These are graphic glitches that you will experience with Gingerbread Sense 3.0-3.5 roms. There is a file that you can flash to get rid of them usually at the price of performance. What the file does is it disables the hardware acceleration of the phone and tends to slow it down some. No harm is done if you leave it alone it just gets annoying to some people. Some roms seem to be worse than others. The rom in my signature is a Froyo Rom with Sense 2.0 and you don't get the gitches. It works great. Hope that helps explain it.

It has.... most Sense3 Cookers state it... and those who don't are a bunch of liers.
Also... with all due respect to him, Haldric's Glitches fix is not a fix. It's a work around.
The only TRUE fix for the glitches, is the Desire 2.6.35 kernel... but that brings other problems.
I am trying to flash MIUI coming from CM 7.1.0 but everytime i reboot into recovery it will stay on recovery for a second or two then just reboot the phone back to CM. can someone tell me what the problem is here?
Have you tried to reflash the recovery yet?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
no how do i do that?
nevermind i know how
EDIT: the reason it is doing that is because the trackpad is "stuck" and before i can scroll down to do what i want it clicks reboot phone
does anyone know how to COMPLETELY disable the trackpad? because mine is stuck so it will select things at random and makes the phone very hard to use. i have tried different roms so this has to be a hardware issue. i would rather just disable it if it is possible rather then go through with trying to get a replacement.
thanks

The problem is that any software solution to disabling the trackpad would be wiped out when you started the flash of a new ROM.
So you might end up disabling it to start the flash of a new ROM, then whatever you did to disable it would get undone during the flash, and you COULD (probably unlikely, but COULD) end up with the stuck button causing a worse problem during the final stages of the ROM flashing.
I can't imagine what problem it would cause. I'd just be nervous about going through the flashing process with a button on the phone sending signals to the processor constantly.
A few days ago my phone just started randomly flashing the boot screen. At the time I just thought it was annoying and was bogged down or something but would soon be gone.
But it hasn't!!
My phone is rooted with the gfree method and I was running this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401556
The problem is this: anytime I'm not giving my phone a command and the screen is about to timeout, the boot animation starts up and loads to the home screen. At that point I have a few as ones to unlock.it and use my phone which will work.just like normal or if I don't respond soon enough it will start over and flash it again.... It repeats.continuously. If a webpage is loading or I am backing up something and don't keep touching the screen it will stop.the task and go into this "continuous boot mode"...
I've wiped everything, tried other roms.... It does it right after the intial setup everytime and won't go away...
I believe you're answering yourself. If you wiped everything and flashed different ROMs, but problem persisted - it means that your phone is most likely faulty.

The question is, what other roms have you tried? I seem to get the same problems on sense 3.5 roms which is why i am not using them currently. If this is happening on a clean install of cm7 or miui as well as sense then you may genuinely have a problem.
Things to try: full wipe system/data/cache/dalvik/sdcard
reboot recovery after wipe to start clean. verify md5sum of the rom you are flashing to eliminate possibility of error. dont install any of your own apps for 1 to 2 days and then if you still have the problem then you may want to unroot and try to get a warranty exchange if at all possible. Good Luck!
Dumb question, but how exactly do I verify that?? And yes it does seem to be with all the 3.5 sense Roms so I tried miui and a sense 3.0... While that did eliminate that problem another unique one showed up...the market wouldn't download anything! No apps.. it would always say due to an error "(-101)"
Just for the record, I rooted it a few weeks ago and the miui and energy 3.5sense both worked fine for at least a week.. does that help in any way??

Well that's good to hear that it isn't happening on all roms. I usually fix the market problems by doing a data wipe and then force close it. Usually will start being able to download after a fc. To check the md5sum on a file download mand5 free from the market and check the file that way.

Ok, so I installed CM9 and after that, the mid part of my screen is completly unresponsive (i cant get to the app drawer). Does anyone know a fix for this??
Also, is it possible to install CM7 over it?? If it is, should i just apply the zip update as usual, or is there something different i should do?
Thanks

Weird problem with your phone, first time i see that happening. Are you sure it was working properly before ?
If yes, try reinstalling cm9 after doing a cache/dalvik cache/full data wipe (this shouldn't be needed to do so multiple times, but sometimes there is some bugs/hickups, and redoing it solve the problem ), to see if it solves the problem.
For CM7, it depends.
From where you are, i guess you use an R0/R1 rom with GB kernel, and hence are pretty limited to what CM7 you can use. I think you can only put CM7 on your phone by downgrading the kernel (with endless7's method) and puting CM7 after.
