My phone thinks the usb cable is connected when its not...and I think its a hardware problem. I was using AA i3 and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, it started happening. In the status bar it says usb connected, but when I pull it down it doesn't show the usb storage notification. I flashed stock ef02 and its still saying the same thing...wiped data, dalvik, cache, and still it does this. I'm thinking about taking it up to the sprint store...but before I do has anyone else had this problem with their epic? It works fine when I do plug in the usb cord. But its a major annoyance... it tries to charge when powered off! It shows the battery charging screen when powered off and not connected.
EDIT: fixed...something to do with the superuser beta 3. uninstalled, put superuser 2 back on and its fine
EDIT #2: Nope, doing it again. Now I have a screenshot

Same thing, same phone
It started happening to me like a few hours after I first rooted my epic 4g. Not sure why, and I didnt have any new ROMs on it yet, all I did was install ACS.Recovery CWM5 and the Impaled Keyboard Patch Fix, nothing else....so I thought I'd just go ahead and try my first ROM (ThePeoplesRom v.2) and that worked great, but again a few hours afterwards I just started getting the same USB connected issue. it flashes for a while, then it just stays on...any ideas anyone?
I had this happen to me from using older (i.e. - dirtier) cables and dropping it in the snow.... Try cleaning your usb port with some isopropyl alcohol or an eyeglass cleaning wipe. Had to do it a couple of times, and used a paper clip to get it in there, so needless to say (yet here I am saying it) I was extremely careful, as I didn't want to scratch the circuits in the plug.
Did you get it wet or dirty somehow? Dropping mine in the snow didn't help....

So my power connector has a problem. I can't get it to reliably connect. Just a little jostling causes it to loose connection. If this happens while I sleep, the power drains completely and my alarm doesn't go off.
Any idea how to fix this?
I'm pretty sure the issue is not with my wires because I've tried several - and tried the wires on several devices and they work fine.

It's the piece of (excuse my French)..........sh*t USB port on the phone. Mine has come loose too. Just got my warranty replacement and it freezes and the colors are off (like the whites are actually a light yellow.....wasn't like that on my old phone)
very true, you can attempt to clean out the usb port on your phone in hopes this will fix your issue. otherwise get ready to spend $5-10 on ebay and pick up a new port, of course you will have to solder this in so yeah, its a fun job
Mine has been this way since the day I got it. I actually just bought some Samsung micro-USB cables off Amazon that have a solid fit inside the phone, wonderful cables! Can't beat the price of them either.

Last night at 12% I plugged in next to the bed with stock charger. The phone spazzed and started trying to open the desk dock. It was like plugging in and unplugging over and over again...fast. on top of that I've never used the desk dock so I don't think I triggered any settings.
I rebooted and changed outlets. Its still doing some strange things on the charger this morning. Plugging in, screen off the red charge light stays on for a sec then blinks off and repeats.
Not rooted.
Anyone got any ideas.

It could be your connecting pins in the phone. Did you try a different cable? If it wasn't the cable, then have you ever had to wiggle the phone around before the cable/dock connected?

Should've tried it already but ill switch cables and try again. I tried jiggling the cable. The connection to the phone doesn't seem as tight as the day out of the box that's for sure. Ill post back with findings.
Edit: upon further investigation I was too tired to realize that my daughters new puppy may be the culprit. Thought my awesome new phone had turrets for a sec, phew

Yup. That'd be your problem lol. But for future reference, try to line up the cable and the port and push it in once. When you can't put it in, you start wiggling it around which breaks the connecting pins. I've messed up a few phones like that lol.

Hello All -
I've been using Android Auto with my S10+ with no issues since it was new. It has always been connected via USB in my car. But as of a few days ago, it will no longer connect. When I plug it in now, I'll get a notification saying 'Android Auto is connecting...' and then it will show 'Can't connect to car screen.'
I've also discovered that I can no longer plug the phone into my USB-C to HDMI adapter to mirror onto a TV. It's not a Samsung adapter, but it's worked perfectly until now. When I plug it in now, I see a notification saying 'The connected USB device isn't supported.'
The phone charges just fine, and my Windows computer will recognize it when connected. It just won't seem to connect to any other kind of external device or screen.
The only change to the phone just before this was a security patch that I downloaded a few days prior. But I haven't been able to find any others having problems with it. Here is my phone's software info:

Some things I've tried so far:
- Tried a different cable.
- Connected another phone with AA in my car and it connected just fine.
- Deleted all cars in AA, reinstalled.
- Disabled Chrome (due to reports of Chrome causing issues on some phones).
- Cleared USB Settings cache and data.
Any suggestions for this frustrating problem are greatly appreciated!
I've used this phone for a very long time now, since 2018
My current use case is using it as a hotspot and running some server and torrent apps on the phone, it works well, 24x7, connected to the charger all the time.
There are times when the battery does not charge for some reason and the phone needs to be restarted after the battery fully drains, especially when dowloading torrents.
I remember an older phone I had long ago, Lenovo Zuk Z2 plus, it used to work without the battery connected, directly connected to the charger.
I have a inverter in place so I don't really need the battery in the phone for my use case, I would like to use the phone like a computer connected to the charger 24x7, I was wondering if anyone knows if the Nokia 6.1 plus would work this way i.e without the battery connected?
I would like to save myself the trouble of opening it and disconnecting the battery just to find out.
Thanks.
anyone?
So, I opened the phone and disconnected the battery...
and...
It does not boot up without the battery connected with the phone connected to the charger.
Probably a jumper is required, anyone know how?
So, I visited a mobile repair technician, and
He tried direct soldering to the battery connector port, which didnt work
He removed the strip from the battery and connected the charging port to it and it didnt work
He finally, put it all ack together and removed the IC on the charging board, that controls the battery charging, now the battery is always charged at 100%
Just thought I'd share with the community
Ps- What he didn't try was a using a diode, but he said that wouldn't work either
