there's something messed up with my music player. for some reason it won't list all of the songs on my phone. some songs are listed, but not all. this error happened only after i installed SetCPU and once set the max frequence to 67 mhz to conserve battery. my ringtone was a song in my music player list and now even that has vanished from the list, but it is still there on the SD card.
Now my default ringtone is some loud annoying ringtone.
if i try to open a song not listed in the music player using sound player (not music player) and set the ringtone from there, it doesn't work. the ringtone is still the default ringtone. i can't even set it going to the settings > sound > ringtone because all the songs are not there on the list.
moreover, all my songs don't play in a queue. so this kind of sucks.
any ideas / help other than to restore factory settings or format my phone or flash a new custom ROM?
btw, i'm using 2.2. no custom ROM.
Okay, so I even tried doing a factory reset, clearing cache, flashing a new ROM but it didn't help. The songs still don't get listed in the music player.
Then I tried transferring the songs through KIES and now they do show up in the music player list.
But most (not all) songs that I download a song off the internet, or 4shared or receive it via whatsapp it still won't get listed in the music player list. Can someone help me out with this?
Did you tried scan folders with you music player? Thats should help

I've searched high and low for this and I cannot find a resolution anywhere!
I have recently got a new THD, and it's awesome. I put 300 mp3s onto the storage card, and they didn't show in the mp3 player on the TF3d. I have synced the windows media player library, and they play through there fine.
But I cannot see the mp3s in TF3d mp3 player, I've tried a soft reset and that doesn't seem to work.
Any idea?

Hey guys, I was wondering if there is anyway of setting only a particular folder to play music from on the storage card. The Sense music player is picking up every audio format e.g. ringtones and playing them???
all i did was create a folder on my mem card called music and my ringtones are on phone mem and music tab didnt find them
Thanks. I thought this was the case, but I have a lot of mp3 ringtones assigned to contacts and moving them all over to the phone memory just wouldn't be viable.
thare are serval discusions on that, around here. actually there is no way from stoping the music tab to play all sondfiles it find on the storage card (or at least only play a single folder). there are serval registry key and stuff but it looks that the music tab is ignoring them and do what it like to do.
mad
you could trim your ring tones or lower the quality of the file depending how many you have and if you can be bothered or just create a playlist and exclude the ringtones that prob the quickest option
Use a file explorer to make all the folders you don't want the Music Player to see, hidden. The phone will still see all of the ringtones etc... but they won't show up in the Media Player. It worked for me.....
sorry for bumping an old thread, I put songs into my SD card in the Music tab, I find WAZE nav sounds ( in mp3), what should I do so the Nav mp3's are not shown in the Music tab?
I have a folder my music..not sure why I cant see some my mp3. Winamp and the music dont recoginize the music....it does show my music that was previously on the sd card prior to uograde ti dj steves froyo...running dj steves 153. Esexplorer can see and launch mp3 and play but none of the music apps shows no listing under artist/album/or song...really frustrating

I have this exact same problem...i looked all over for ananswer and found a few tips but nothing helped. One tip said to clear the music cache in settings but that made things worse, I lost all my ringtones, notification tones, alarms, etc.
I eventually downloaded "Museek" player from the market and it sees all my music. Not my favorite player, but at least it is seeing all the music. Oh, and after I loaded that on I was able to bring back my ringtones, etc.
Hi,
I put this rom on my HTC HD2
[16.MAR.11][ZIP] Ultimate Droid 3.1.1 v2 [Tytung r7]
And I dont know why I can Play music from SD card. And also when I want to set as a ring tone a mp3 it doesnt play it.
Anyone know what is going on??
Thx
I found that it play music but only in ogg format. It doesnt want to play mp3.
I got text that the player doesnt support the file type. I tryed standard player and winamp and there is all the same
Any sugestions?
Just recently I made the switch from Google Play Music to a third party player and put all my music onto the phone. Everything seemed to work fine until I realized random songs here and there aren't being detected by any music player I have, or they are detected but are shown with some crazy length (sometimes even negative) and will just sit at the 0:00 mark. I've verified the files are formatted as MP3s and all so I have no clue what the issue might be.
I have a similar issue. The default tones in the "Notifications" or "Ringtones" folders will show in Google Play Music. No other music in any other folders show up.
Basically, I can listen to all the default notifications and Ringtones in any music app, no other music in any other folders (or even the defaults for notifications and ringtones) show in any music app, and I've tried many. I can view and play them using Root Browser even though I don't have root, but I can't play them in a music app at all.
