Wanted to see how everyones battery was on the G2. I just got mine a few hours ago. Going through the whole "Training Battery" deal. Almost done charging and going to see how it holds up. Coming from the Vibrant I loved the battery on there. Hope all goes will with the G2.
I am getting pretty decent battery life. I have not done the whole discharging/charging deal and I am getting through a whole day of normal usage without much issue.
I'm averaging between 16-17 hrs on my battery with 25-27% left before charging. Yesterday, I had wifi on for 7 hrs while at work, display on for 3+ hrs, and battery was at 17 hrs with 10% left.
Edit: I think wifi consumes less battery as compared to the radio toggling between Edge, 3G, or HSPA+.

It feels a tad bit better than my Nexus One despite being smaller. Gets me through my day with moderate to heavy usage.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
I get 8 hours of heavy use. Ive hade enough HTC phones to know whos exagurating when it comes to battery life. Getting 17 hours of heavy use and still having 25% left is unrealistic. I came to work at 9am. Its 3:30 and I'm at 22%. Thats better than either of my G1's and slightly worse than my iPhone.
Again thats with admiteddly heavy usage. With "normal person" usage then yeah. 20 hours...

Exaggerating for you coz you're not experiencing it. But that's how it's been with mine. Why would I exaggerate about it? What would I gain with lying? If I'm lying about it then ultimately I'm lying to myself. But fortunately for me, I'm telling the truth.

Between 14-20 hours of moderate usage to light usage. Heavy usage, when I'm in the mood for tinkering with it a lot, drops down to 9-12. Much better than my Vibrant, that's for sure.

Yeah I get 8 hours with widgets on all seven screens, live wallpapers, heavy text / phone, high brightness, bluetooth music and internet usage. Games and all that other good stuff. I got from 5:00AM till ~2PM before it was 0. Charged it back up, and it's been pretty amazing thus far. Specially considering I got about an hour with my G1 and it's original battery in the months before I bought the G2.
this battery is way better... it works.. it is decent and it gets the job done. What has me quite out and *****in about is this --- i have like 3 wall chargers 9 usb cables car chargers from the whole horde of Dreams I have amassed (collectors item) and was looking forward to being able to charge the G2 up anywhere and everywhere. Now I am left with one little 2 foot long piece of strangly usb..that i have to drag around until i find a source of replacements. why did HTC not make the G2 with the same frigging female/male parts as the G1? its like ruthless capitalization of acessorization. *****es!

All phones during the G1's time except for the iPhone used the mini USB style.
All phones this year and last year middle onwards have switched over the Micro USB that's found on the G2. No good phone this year has Mini USB, AFAIK, all Micro USB, obviously except for the iPhone.
i got about 29 1/2 hours with normal usage on mine before i charged it and still had about 10% left.
I'm going about 14-17 hours before I need a charge. Normal use for me, quite happy =)
fRom Snugs G2 ^.^
17 hours, down to 22%. Pretty impressive coming from the Vibrant.
My battery has improved significantly once I let it die completely and charge til green while off. I did that twice and I'm loving the battery life now. The one thing I would recommend is putting the screen timeout to around 15 seconds. It helps significantly. I keep my twitter and facebook synchronized but I only fetch around every 3 to 4 hours. If I need it sooner than that, all I have to do is open the app.

18 hours, 30%... the vibrant couldn't really do 8 hours for me.
Are all these times/hours your getting for the G2. Is with the HSPA on? I havn't really timed my G2 just got it yesterday but its holding up pretty good so far. I was just thinking turning it to 2G speeds when you don't need H will almost double the battery life. Is there an app or option you can set when your phone is in sleep mode it switches to 2G and turn back on to H+?
- Fly like a G2
I get 18 hours easily with heavy usage.
If I were to have the phone on airplane mode, silent, and no running applications it would probably last a week.

I've had a G1, a Nexus One, and a Charm, and this has great battery life. I keep playing Angry Birds and screwing around on it thatv would kill the Nexus One. I'm beginning to really like this phone.
I haven't really timed it but I kill it half way through the day. Then I charge it and kill it by the time I go to bed. I can't put the damn thing down.
I have noticed that it seems to charge rather quick. Or maybe its just the fact that I am actually getting things done when its charging and don't notice.
I am fine with the battery. I feel that once I get all the tinkering out of my system, I will have battery to spare by the end of the night.

Though there are enough iphones in this small world that you could almost claim that the apple connector port is standard. almost.
I've been reading the thread about battery life and I was wondering if someone could just say whether or not its good or bad. Just give me how many hours it lasts you through the day. I use the nexus one currently and I unplugged my phone at 7:45 AM and it's now 11:33 PM and my Nexus One still has 25% battery life and its been on for 15 hours.
So will I be making a sacrifice going to the G2? Will my battery life be horrible?
Nah, your good. Come to the darkside.
Battery life couldn't be any better. Especially running CM.
[G2/HTC Vision]
i was in major debate on leaving my N1 for G2, my usb port broke in my N1 so i grabbed a G2 while the N1 is sent in to HTC. i told my girlfriend she can have my N1, i am happy with the G2 now in every aspect including battery.
i did tell the gf, she has to take care of the N1 like her child though, still love that phone and may want to use it again in the future.
I've had my phone unplugged since 3pm~ and it's currently 1:41am (nearly 11 hours later) and I'm at 85% battery. Running stock and haven't done anything besides a few calls and texts today. (Auto brightness and data sync are on with 4G going too) I could probably make the phone last over 48 hours if I left it idle. Beats the hell out of my last phones battery (G1)
Thanks guys, this has really made me feel alright.

I used to think my battery was horrible. However, I did a complete wipe of my phone including the Dalvik cache and now it is better. I receive push email on my phone throughout the entire day. During a normal day's use I can go about 9 hours. Last night I left my phone alone complrtrly from about 8 pm till now after fully charging at 2 pm and I still have a little juice left. For those experiencing bad battery life you may wanna try wiping everything then fully charging and finally wiping the battery stats.

I wouldn't suspect the ROM, but rather battery, charger, cable, port... store can check those things out for you.
In re to what you can do in theory, modern ROMs/android OS handle things pretty efficiently so I don't think it is something you have done - that is if you are not overclocking and leaving it on your oven when cooking.
Make sure you are at like 3 percent before recharge. Do that a couple times and out will restore your battery, worked for me

Wow I hope your battery worked itself out in the end. I just have another question. How long should a stock MyTouch 4G battery last?
Even before I rooted my phone and tried a bevy of roms known for their battery life, but I never get passed just about 9 hours. I used my phone moderately text messaging, surfing periodically and playing music and podcasts in between classes. I have turned off auto sync and did the battery stats wipe.
Just wondering if my expectations are too high. Nine hours is nice, it gets me through the day but then I lose it for a couple of hours in the afternoon to charge up for the remainder of the day.
Thanks again guys!

Try TDJ's CM 7.2 kang. I have gotten over 24 hours on that ROM.
Battery life is like fuel mileage. Its how you drive it. One person may get 17 mpg on a car that someone else gets 22 in. Screen on time is better to go by. A good ROM/kernel combo will get you around 4 hours screen on time. Maybe more.

Hey Guys,
A bunch of people are complaining about the battery life on Nexus 4. I've been waited for a couple days since I got the device, to have enough confident about the battery before I make any post here. Yes, the phone battery drain pretty fast on the first few cycles. After a bunch more charges later, let me tell this, the battery life did get significantly better. It lasted about 10-15 hr depends on the load of the usage.
Here is my typical day, off the charge at 100% in the morning, listen to a few songs, checking emails, and messages while getting ready for school. About an 30mn to 1hr of internet browser and youtube videos while on the bus. By 1-2pm the battery drop the about 70-80%. I put the phone in silent mood til i'm done with all my classes. On the way back home on the bus, I listened to a bunch of music, web browsing, maybe a few phone calls, texts or games.
Compare to my old phone, Samsung Galaxy S2 T989, im impressed with the Nexus 4 battery life. My Galaxy S2 battery always die on the bus coming back home. What I'm trying to get at: if you're a light to medium user like me, then get this phone. I was hesitate at first because I always have bad experience with android battery life. But Google seem to get its OS right with this nexus device, mainly because the battery drain minimum while in sleeping mood.
Can you post your Nexus 4 battery performance screenshot if you have been using the phone for more than a few days ?
Is there supposed to be a question being asked? Or a statement as this is in the Q&A forum.
I agree with you on many points. People need to wait at least 5 to 7 days for the battery charge to fully kick in. The first days mean absolutely nothing as it is still being aligned plus the user is still installing apps and setting up their phone.
There are some notable problems in the default kernel that uses more battery Usage than normal too.

From full battery to this overnight + breakfast usage. Rasbean + Matr1x v3.0. Never seen anything like it. Coming from the GN, this phone is a different dimension altogether. On any aspect..
Had phone for 5 days. Drained phone to 10% then fully charged. Moderate to light use made it through a day.
Stock rooted + Franco Kernel.

Depends on how much screen time you got, which you didn't show us.
The trick is to be careful about using mobile data when signal is bad, I switch to WiFi when home to avoid unnecessary battery drain.

What is this obsession for battery life, it lasts me well through the day with moderate/heavy use. I charge it at night (if needed) and unless you are homeleless this shouldn`t be a problem. It`s a great phone and i enjoy using it.

I thought the same until my N4 actually arrived, it seems battery life is abysmal compared to my Optimus 2x which didnt have anything really spectacular in regards to battery size. On my O2x I could get 1.5 - 2.5 days depending on use, hitting atleast 1 .5 which was good and acceptable for me (I can charge at night anyways) however my N4 doesnt even reach 13 hours on similar usage!.
I am quite a light users of smartphones however I do like to have a power phone when it comes to using it on the basis of smoothness and capabilities if I need to say do work on my phone, I rarely play games though. Main usage is 2 email accounts on poll 1 hour steps, a third account that is an exchange server and polls in 30 minute steps and thats about it with some brief browsing and a handful of texts (been a quite time since I got my N4), this is less usage than my O2x and yet it still performs alot worse!
I was hoping of staying with stock as I was expecting it to finally be good, comparing it to LG stock attempts it is but battery life isnt . I will be trying the combo Vangelis13 mentioned, raspbean and matr1x kernel as that seems like a great mix however Parandroid has been on the table and it seems like alot of being are getting good results so I will try it soon .
If I can get more than a day of usage I would be really happy, if I was playing games or doing really heavy tasks I wouldnt expect it to last but right now it is doing pretty much nothing and dieing far to fast!.
One thing I've noticed since coming to N4 from S2 is that phone calls drain battery much more significantly on the N4. I could make an hour long call on my S2 and it would use no more than a couple of percent battery but the N4 used 15% for an hour long phone call the other night.
If I didn't own a nexus 4 and came to this thread to find out about it's battery life I would expect it to be good.
Point is you guys are misinforming everyone. The battery is mediocre and that's it.
It won't last a full day if you use it constantly and I do need two charges / day many times.
Let me put it this way, you will only get roughly 3 hours of screen time on stock everything. If that is good for you then it's will have good battery life, if not then you will say it's got poor battery life.

you are perfectly right.
I come from an iPhone 4s, which I changed because the battery life wasn´t that great and I thought it was time to try something new.
Got the N4 last friday and played around with it during the weekend.
Monday, tuesday and wednesday this week... none of these days I´ve been able to come back home with the phone still on.
I wake up at 7.30am and I usually am back home at 6pm.
In my opinion, and honestly should be in everyone´s opinion, 10 hours of battery life are unacceptable, whatever the usage is (considering that 7.30 of those 10 hours I was at work)
I have till friday this week to return it, which is a pity because the phone is great
i get 5-6 hours sot..
rom is omnirom 5.1.1 hellscore kernel b73.
100mv undervoltage hellsactive governer.
think 7 would be possible if google services would not take a quarter of the battery.
the screen is not taking that much battery as one would think.
think most issues with battery life come from fake original battery replacements.
had 3-4 sot using "original" battery. but after replacing with real genuine from official lg spare parts shop 5-6...

so maybe I'm blind, but i didn't see a battery life thread yet. post some shots with screen on time and how much time off charger!
right now mine is pretty terrible since it's less than 24 hours since I got it.. but i do hope it gets better, because it seems my g2 had better battery life right off the bat, but I'm sure this thing just has to settle in after a few charge cycles!!

For me, battery life suddenly doesn't matter as much, when it can charge so fast..
I'm in the same boat as OP. Think a few cycles will show how great this battery really is.
Same here. I'm on day 2, so I'm hoping it does improve.
battery life is pretty decent for me. Power using gets me through a day link to my moto 360 via bluetooth and on wifi about 50% of the time.
I've been listening to Poweramp since eight this morning. A little surfing, and I'm at 73%. I expect it might be a bit better once the battery has gone through a couple of charge cycles.
One thing I learned, was download booster is a huge battery hog! If you turn it on, it'll take days to charge to 100%.
I know the note is doing better than my old s3 though, because doing my same run using both my tracks and S health, rocket player, and taking panorama pics, I still used 10% less battery than my s3 did only running my tracks and rocket player.
Me trying to drain it. Amazing in my opinion

yeah, but i disabled fast charging because i thought i read somewhere that using fast charge could degrade the life of the battery over time..yea yea i know, batteries are cheap, but still. idk. plus you always have to have the samsung fast charger with you, which i obviously don't do. but "slow" charging still charges fast enough for me lol
either way the battery is pretty bad for me on day 2. i've disabled A LOT of bloat though, so who knows. wish we had root; i'd use greenify like i used to on the G2...

i had same thing and i noticed that i had several email accounts setup, but when i go to each inbox, they were empty and the device was constantly trying to sync, but nothing would push both ways, and therefore after a few hours phone got real hot. battery was draining like 10 percent every 15 mins.
after some testing, i found out that if you go into email advanced options, disable group as email conversatinos, and that fixed all my stuff, battery is great
Eh, I don't even have other emails setup besides my Gmail app...

First cycle results not too bad if you ask me. Fully charged it yesterday when I got it and took it off the charger when charging was complete been off the charger ever since... I've been trying to kill it by playing games Web browsing YouTube phone calls and it still going strong...
Almost 12 hours or moderate use and the battery usage was 90%. To me coming from the Note 2 this is not an improvement. Anyone coming from a Note3 with any other thoughts.
This is my results coming from a 100% battery charge.
idk how the hell you guys are getting like 5 hour screen on time. how quick do you drop from 100 to 99 after you unplug from charger? mines pretty quick. it's annoying. the g2 would stick on 100 percent for 20 minutes of screen on time and an hour off charger. this phone is at 90 by then. ridiculous. maybe I'm just spoiled by the g2s amazing battery life.
right now I'm at 12 percent left, with 14 hours 45 minute off charger and 3 hour 26 minutes screen on time. android system is my humber one battery user.. not even screen. the hell?
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 using Tapatalk.
I say give it a few more days in order to better judge the battery. For the G3, the first few days had terrible battery life. The battery would last less than 20hrs and about 3hrs screen time. I was getting ready to dump it, but soon the battery life picked up. Now I always get over 24hrs with at least 4.5hrs screen time. Obviously two different devices from different manufacturers, but the point is to not be quick to judge it. My Note 4 will probably be arriving early next week.
