Hello,
today i received a mail from Microfosft (I am registred as developer).
The sent me files to update to Mango. But before that they want to BackUp my phone, where my update was canceled.
It looks like the same Zune BackUp, when you do an update.
Is there any way to do this update with an HD2?

nope and you wouldnt want to either
there is a lot of HD2 specific files in this, if you dump an official update on it there is a good change you will bugger up the device again

There are several Threads concerning the Mango-update now..why open another?

well i thougth the official beta update would be more usefull. but i thought wrong you (of some1else) could delete this thread

[Q] How to update firmware?

I have searched and searched but cannot find any instructions on how to update my DVP firmware.
I am currently on the old .105 firmware and this thing is almost unusable!
I'm also using the current Mango update and matching Zune software. Would that block an automatic update of the firmware?

The new FW is currently available via Zune only for unlocked DVP's. TMO DVP is next week. Plus, if you have Mango-you need to back out to Nodo (pre-mango state) and only then Zune will let you update.
My DVP is unlocked, as it was a T-Mobile version I am now using in Canada on Rogers.
I will try reverting to do the update.
Well, looks like I don't have a pre mango backup anymore.
What do I do now?

It should have been sold unlocked by Dell for this to work. If you bought a locked TMO version to unlock it afterwards, it won't work.

Your only option is to get help from MS if you are a official Developer or get a Dev account from MS and ask MS for help.
Didn't MS mention it a zillion times to take a backup? Might also be worth posting in the WP General forum in XDA for help.

Yes, and I had that backup, but when I tried to backup manually my post mango state, it somehow overwrote my older backup.
Actually, if anyone has a stock dvp pre mango backup and would be willing to share it with me, that would work...

lost premango backup. any hope ?

hey guys
i spent couple of days to find a way to go back to nodo to get the firmware update but it wasn't successful.
my firmware version is 2250.1500.7004.105 and i need to update it badly.
no roms, no backup. i don't see any light but i saw a news today that MS is going to release mango RTM soon.
When RTM is released, u think i can update to RTM and get firmware update?
There are so many devs for other phones but not DVPs. why why why :'(
I hate to break it to you. But ALL is LOST.
DVP has no developers behind it- basically that means, no original/custom ROM can be flashed since the capability has not yet been developed.
It's now, what it is until someone finds a way to flash an older rom onto the device.
heck, a registry editor hasn't even been built for the DvP yet!
sorry, but you're out of luck for now.
Ya, I'm stuck in the same situation, very unfortunate on account that I made three backups but the restore wont work... simply sucks.
any chance to recover when mango RTM is released ?
that is the only hope i have atm. :'(
if you have Windows Phone Update in user profile folder (%USERPROFILE\AppData\Local\Microsoft), then try and see if you have previous version files available. (right click on the folder).

before i had tried to restore using backups, the folder would also just contain the properties.xml file, have you tried to right click the 'windows phone update' folder itself and click 'restore previous versions'? i am personally surprised that zune had found my old July 2nd backup (when I installed premango) after i used this method. if all this doesnt work, you can always try to register as a developer at Apphub and get help from there, if you are a student it would be free and all..

did your backup disappear or does it not work? mine didnt work and it somehow got itself to work after using the method tokuro said in the first page.. as a developer you have to send in a ticket with the info in this thread http://forums.create.msdn.com/forums/t/85786.aspx
i sent one in a few days ago but they never replied back.. from reading through many forums i have a feeling there are a lot more people out there with lost backups..
please keep us updated. i am pretty sure there are so many ppl waiting for this.
Has anyone heard back from Microsoft regarding this issues. I emailed them last week and and they haven't gotten back to me yet. Really curious to see what they do.

Latest MANGO: Install or not?

All this chatter about Mango being release today. My HD2 has Yuki’s back to the future rom with mango. Do I still need to update my hd2 when the mango rollout notifies my zune?
What is the difference between the build being release today vs the leaked RTM 7720 and yuki’s back to the future rom?
Will I gain anything new that I don’t already have?

He knows that his current version is the RTM, which is by the way something totally different from a test or beta version!
The question asked is what the DIFFERENCE between the official and RTM version is.
As far as i understand the difference is in the drivers that are present in the version released today by MS. But then again it is just what i have read somewhere.

When I connected my phone to Zune it said the update would "clean up any beta/ivs provisioning to ensure your phone can recieve future updates"..
Quite a few people in the "back to the future" thread seem to have installed the update without problems.
I assume that if you update from the Yuk/HD2Oi "beta" to "official" Mango you wont gain anything functional, it will just change some versions/comments from "beta" to "official" so it shows as an offical release rather than a beta release.

For info, I've just installed this update (took less than a minute) and all is working fine still.
Waiting for more feedback and then only I'll switch.
If theres no real difference then I won't switch at all. Its too much of a mess to setup up my tiles and get my apps up and running again.
I agree. I'll wait on it.
just completed the update process from "back to future" rom to the official mango. i see no difference between the two other than perhaps removing elements of beta according to the update. there was no change in my tile presentation and i had no app installed as i was experience huge battery drain for no reason.
I have the HD2 and also received the update message requesting for update would would "clean up any beta/ivs version.
So for any of you who installed can you give us up dates with your hd2,
Q1, if previous side loaded apps are still on the phone & usable?
Q2, Is it still unlocked? &
Q3, can we use Tom Xap installer?
yes it's still unlocked.
Yes, you can sideload apps using your tomxap installer, I just installed fruit ninja.
As to previous sideloaded apps I can't answer cos i did the upgrade without any installed up.
I just upgrade my phone to mango.
I checked and it did not affect my apps or tiles.
Thanks
Yeah, I installed it too. Just like installing it as a native WP. It won't mess up any apps, pix, or saved documents. Took less than 5 minutes & actually made my very smooth phone, smoother!

From what I've read so far it seems safe to install this update. We dont have any "official" statement from Yuki or DF or anyone actually involved in the ROM here do we?
And also, will I need to reconfigure the phone after applying this update? If so, then this update is not gonna happen for me.

Hmm, it wont install. Errorcode 800B010A. Checking the ROM-thread for a solution.

Ok, it installed after a few tries. Rebooted computer and phone as well, but dont think that has anything to do with it.

Any AT&T Mango news?

Any insiders know anything?
Sent from my Venue Pro using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
No comment from at&t and @lionelatdell doesn't want to give out a date.
So nothing, unfortunately.
I got mango on my att dell venue pro.. it is an unlocked one though.
Yeah krad we are talking SIM locked devices.
I'm not sure if this counts as Mango on AT&T, but for what it's worth...
http://www.shekhargovindarajan.com/...-non-developer-unlocked-dell-venue-pro-india/
If you go to that link and dissect it a bit, you can update your AT&T Venue Pro to Mango. My phone says it's on 7.5, and the OS version is 7.10.7720.68. I don't know if that is the real Mango or if it's just a Beta. Mine has been working great so far. It has all of the Mango features and stuff. I have an AT&T locked device. Hope this is relevant.
Also. I know that the link says it is to get on to the Mango Beta, but what I have now on my phone does not seem like a beta.
It is mango, but you are missing some of the mango specific firmware. Still should hold ya over till the real thing arrives.
Can't you do the unplug trick? It took me a while but I got it to work and my phone isn't even an official Venue Pro.

After dell screwed up the compass app...not that i use the compass - it just shows how dumb they are, i updated my att dvp to mango 7720 last night using the beta rtm method here at xda. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215501 )
so now i have the .212 firmware and mango. Good enough for me.

I did the same. Just been unsure if I am still going to be able to get the .219 firmware update. Do you happen to know?
I was in the process of restoring when mango was being released just to make sure I got the best install possible but I accidently deleted my restore in the process. I have 7720 on my DVP though so I havent really cared and I havent had any issues with it so I doubt the firmware is really going to matter.
I'm not sure if the link is the same method I used it seems to have the steps I did.

people that had the rtm did not have to revert when official came out, so we should be fine. We get .212 & mango and dell gets time to get **** right. When the update is pushed we should have no probs.

There's quite a few modifications and derivatives of the instructions in that thread. Did you follow the set on the top of the thread or did you need to make any of the adjustments to upgrade your Dell Venue Pro?

Did you download the old version of zine from that thread? Uninstall your current zune, then install that one and begin.
When I did mine i did have a problem when trying to backup. When i clicked the updatewp.exe the box would just give me an error: updatewp.exe has stopped working.
to fix: “UpdateWP has stopped working”
This was despite following the instructions to the letter. Turns out they are both due to the UpdateWP setup not overwriting existing files if they are already there. If you get this problem then just go to your “Program files” > “Zune” folder and delete both the UpdateWP.exe and wm7update.dll files (mine were both dated April) and rerun the UpdateWP setup file.
Once i did that it was smooth sailing.
Great. I've unistalled my zune software and can't install this one. I kepp getting error that the it can't install becuase langauge packs aren't installing or something.
edit: finally got zune to reinstall. even though it was from the download it installed version 4.8.2345 instead. So when is the Titan coming to AT&T again?
I had no issues with the update...
I think the problem is with my registry and my Zune. The new version doesn't completely uninstall which causes problems with the older version installing. I've had zune since G1 brick and my settings have even traveled from XP to 7. My library huge and not even located on one drive. I don't want to use something like revo to completely uninstall and lose my settings and my syncs, which are for multiple devices.

Samsung Focus Update to 8107 available with WP7 Root Tools

Hi!
I posted this in here because i can't post in Development because i'm a noob (less than 10 posts).
The update 8107 is already available for Samsung Focus i917R (Rogers) so what i did are the next steps:
1.- Jailbroke my AT&T Handset.
2.- Installed WP7 Root Tools from this site.
3.- Changed the values ATT-US to ROG-CA using the WP7 Root Tools on the next path:
Local Machine\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOperator
After the update i restored to ATT-US just in case, my device is Unlocked to any GSM and is working great, even the ear speaker sounds better (IMO) still is Jailbroken and is on 8107.
Picture on the 4th post
Thanks!
Thanks !!
New update done !
Welcome
Here is the screenshot
Does the update delete all the apps/settings on the phone ? I mean do I need to take a back up and all ?
Btw, I've added your first thanks !
No information is lost, the jailbreak is still up and all my contacts and stuff remains intact, is working perfectly You're welcome
The first post/procedure works fine, all my personal data was fine on ATT Focus 1.3.
Works fine in my Focus (v1.3). All data remains. First update to 7740 and then jumps to 8107.
Updated successfully! Worked like a charm.
Thanks.
The trick no longer needed I guess. My Roger's Focus updated to 8107 via Zune today. I just plugged it in, and thats it.

Yes, the latest version was released for Rogers for another carriers the trick is needed.

Will this update disable internet sharing? As I update vis Zune and turned out to lose the internet sharing functionality, and I need to run a system restore in the end.
