Hello everyone.
I'm a happy user of Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10i. And ofc, when you get a phone like this, you will install lots of programs and that.
Now i have installed some programs, but now when i'm going to Android Market, then it's working like it should except for one thing.
When i go to the info on one program, then i can't go back without having to start from the beginning on the scrolling on the program list.
I know this wasn't happening right after i had reset my phone some few days ago.
So does anyone have any idea on what the problem can be?.
I really want to find out what the problem / issue is, since it sucks to scroll way way down and then have to start from the beginning only because you wanted to see the info on a program and then goes back to the program list.
Greetings from Tom-Helge.
I found out that there was something messing up my phone, so i just restored my phone. So i don't have this issue anylonger now.
HI all, this past weekend Kies popped up with a notification that there was a firmware upgrade for my Galaxy S. I immediately downloaded and installed it, I guess a newbie mistake. When completed I found that all my apps vanished and my settings went back to out of the box state. Though annoying I spent much of Saturday morning trying to get my phone back to where I had it before the update. The issue now though is that when I log into the market I find I am unable to download certain apps, I get to the install button on the phone then I get an error message "file not found". This is troublesome as there are a few apps that I had before the upgrade that I can no longer install, including paid apps, (examples Pandora, Pure Calendar) nor am I able to install certain new apps. I read that the market will no longer display protected content after this upgrade. I spoke to Samsung who told me to take the phone back to the Bell store. Bell told me to call Samsung as it is a firmware issue
Has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone know of a solution to the problem.
Thank you

Some people suffered market problems after upgrading to the UK-released JM1 last week. Apparently Samsung has to notify Google that they released an official update, so that Google allows access to paid and copy protected apps for that firmware. It took a couple of days for everyone to see everything over here. Maybe you just have to wait a bit (?)
Same happened here in Australia.. It was fixed the next day. I called Samsung to complain about it (when it was still happening) and was told that there was nothing they could do (which seemed like rubbish to me)..
If you are updating to a unsupported (beta) fw, make sure you install a rom or replace your build.prop file with a supported fw file.
Hi my phone is a month old now, everything is stock..no mods so far..I am having multiple problems with my phone.
- I cannot download anything from Market..it starts download and then 'download unsuccessful'
- FM radio never worked for me, not even after manually tuning it.
- I am not able to use wifi..it just says 'obtaining address...'
I did a factory reset yesterday and after that I was able to download 2~3 apps from Market..but today I am facing the same issue again.
Please help me guys..
Thanks guys for the help, it turns out that the issue was exactly what you said, but maybe more to the point, my own impatience.
Thanks again

I am on the Captivate running the beta I897UCJH2 firmware. I have market issue with some apps (e.g., Asphalt 5 HD, Fandango, and G4Tv) not showing up. I tried your method of copying over the build.prop file from the official I897UCJF6 firmware release. Even rebooted after doing that. The missing apps never showed up, so I reverted back to the JH2 build.prop file. Any other suggestions to fix my issue?
P.S. - Spoke too soon. This does work. Someone suggested clearing Market cache, followed by reboot, and then installing and reinstalling a couple of apps. And that did the trick.
from what i can gather it seems to be related to a location issue, as in certain apps will not show up for some countries and other apps will, etc.
so if you load firmwares from different geographic location the market is filtering what it allows/not allows bassed on the rom firmware location.
it'll be great if we can remove that filter and have it show everything online.
the work around that i do is find and download the apps via browser, instead of market
also avoid the barcode scanner downloads, which just launches the market app

Are you saying there a site where I can get the all the apks for these missing apps downloaded by bypassing the market? I have never run across it so far. Every one of the solutions so far has the phone launching the market app at some point, which fails, as the apps are not listed or downloadable there. The apps I am talking about are all free and should be legally able to be sideloaded, but how?
I have a problem with the Acer "apps" on my a500.
when I launch the eReading, Games, Social and Multimedia shortcuts I get a force close on the process "ApinAp (process android com.acer.app)" I have tried to clear data in "ApinAp" but it did not help... it worked when I bought my A500 a week ago.
but I don't know when it stopped working.
if anyone have a solution or a good idea to try please don't hesitate to answer ;-)
Reset it. There's probably a bad app having it's way with your tablet and causing the instability. If it continues to happen on stock, send it back.
Start installing your apps back one by one with time in between to test. Eventually you'll be able to track down the one app you shouldn't be using.
I have the same problem. After rooting, I restored *a lot* of the backups from my 2.2 phone. I uninstalled some because they didn't play nice with honeycomb, but I still haven't been able to find the culprit. Also, restoring the backup from their original, pristine condition did not help. I would really appreciate it if anyone knows which app(s) is/are responsible for this.

Ideally, you should post all the apps you've installed so anyone coming across this thread can scan what you have and have the chance to see an app that is knowingly bad.
You should always restore to a factory state to make sure it *is* a bad app though. That's the only way to verify if it's Honeycomb or a tablet hardware issue as being the cause rather than a rogue application.
Also, don't install *questionable* apps from *shady* sources. Eventually, this kind of thing will happen.
Well, I have installed lots of free apps, so it would take a while to post them all here. I have removed a few but it didn't help. It could be anything, of course, but I suspect it must be one that has root access. When I tried freezing a few likely culprits, it didn't change anything though.
Do you by any chance use morelocale 2?
I had some force closes and it was because my tablet was using a language that it didn't like (together with my Contacts) so I had to change some settings (use different locale or delete any custom characters from my contact list) and it worked.
I have the same problem. I restored apps from the android market because I couldn't figure out how to make market enabler work in the beginning. Ever since all the native apps are force-closing.

I have removed morelocale2 and the problem persists. However, Even after removing it, the added localisations seem to persist (for example, market is still translated to greek). Does anybody know of a method to completely remove its effects?
Removing locale won't disable it's effects. You can set it and them remove it and the settings will remain as you've set it.
You should reinstall it and then set it back to default settings and see if that helps you problem. My problem was an unsupported language that I've set in it and that caused crashes.
I redownloaded it and reset the settings to English (US). When I did that, the apinap force close message reappeared, so there must be some connection. Then, to make sure, I rebooted and tried the apps. Even though the new/old localisation was working as expected, the acer apps still force close, giving the same error as before.
Odd. Did you enter the info (in morelocale) manually or did you use the two selection buttons and pick the language from there?
I just picked it from the selection list.
Then it's not the same as my problem. But I still suspect that it has something to do with locale.
Do you have any custom characters under your contacts. Because that can cause problems (I've stumbled upon it when I was looking if anyone is experiencing the same crashes as I was).
If you do have them (any greek lethers and such) then try disabling google sync and wiping contacts and see if that helps. If it does than it's your contacts (some people reported that some unsupported characters and multiple notes could cause crashes on tablets).
If it still crashes then just enable sync again and restore the contacts.
I don't know what else you could do if you still experience crashes after that except a hard reset to check if that helps.
Thanks mate, I tried this too. In fact, I also removed everything with any Greek character at all. No luck at all, so I will give it a rest. I will just keep the apps in case they are needed for the 3.1 update.
I never used titanium backup, but if anyone is restoring a full backup set from this application and any honeycomb only settings gets deleted or written over by 2.2 information, you will probably have a crash..
just like flash 10.3 has 2 different libraries loaded, one for 2.2 and one for 3.0 , but only installed one of them, your device with flash will FC, when flash suddenly uses 2.2 libraries.. so not all backups and apps can be easily restored..
you will need to test the apps backed up, and avoid restoring any system settings.
I've been collecting free apps from Amazon on my rooted NC for awhile now. At the time I got each of these apps, they were listed as "compatible" with my device.
Now suddenly a lot of them are not, and I am unable to go back and re-install the ones that I had removed.
Even worse, pretty much everything I've tried so far today to grab has come up as incompatible. Even really simple stuff that should have no problem running.
Oddly, at some point early on, Amazon listed my device as simply "Nook Color". Most of the apps are still showing as compatible with that device. Unfortunately, that's not what Amazon thinks my NC is anymore! I now have a second device on my list called "BarnesAndNoble NOOKcolor", which almost nothing is compatible with.
So then I wanted to check to see if Amazon was behind this, maybe to screw B&N fans. But nope! The Android Marketplace lists every game I've checked so far today as incompatible with my NC!!!
That's certainly news to me, considering some of the games I checked are currently installed on my NC and work perfectly.
I'm not sure what's going on here, but it's sort of scaring me. Who's locking down my rooted NC? If the official android marketplace says everything is incompatible... there aren't a lot of options for getting apps.
Do search with "Market" keyword, you will see about 10 threads with many responses and instructions how to fix this.

There are quite a few threads found that way, but none of the ones I read helped. I did the "stop/restart Framework/Google and reload" and nothing changed. Most of the others seem to be related to problems with the new market, which was working perfectly for me up until today, or problems run into right after rooting. I've been rooted for about 5 months with no market problems of any kind, and I haven't changed anything on my NC for over a month.
I also tried clearing the settings for the Amazon market and also deregistered the device from my amazon account, forcing it to re-register. Still no luck.
Anyone else seeing this, or have another suggestion?
My old market and new market were working fine too, just like yours, until a few days ago. If you try the 160 dpi/reboot/clear-data-from-market procedure below and that doesn't work, then you may have a totally unique problem that just happens to have the same variety of symptoms everyone else is having. (I'm doubtful.) This procedure seems to be fixing the problem for almost everyone else. Did you try it? It fixed mine.
1) set dpi to 160 in build.prop
2) reboot
3) clear market app data (force close first may help?)
4) restart market, accept terms, let it rebuild data at 160 dpi
5) profit
the above we all seem to agree on now. Next steps are more speculative
6) set dpi back to 161 (or whatever you had)
7) reboot
8) profit indefinitely (unknown how long this lasts; I rebooted >5 times including flashing a nightly w/o issue)
9) do NOT clear data again as this rebuilds data at the wrong dpi again.

Thanks, I had tried the first half, but not the second. I used manual nooter, so my dpi entries originally looked like:
ro.sf.lcd_density.xdpi=169.3333
ro.sf.lcd_density.ydpi=169.3333
I don't know if that makes a difference.
Anyway, I just tried the second half of the above process but I'm still showing as incompatible. I wonder if I need to re-noot.
Everyone trying to be helpful here seems to miss the poster's dilemma. He is talking about the Amazon Market, not the Android Market. Hopefully someone familiar with the workings of the Amazon Market will chime in with some suggestions.
My original problem was with Amazon's market, but it looks like that's just a symptom of the bigger problem that I noticed first because I use it every day, as opposed to much less frequent use of the android market.
But the Android market suffers the same problem and from what I've read online it sounds like the problem was started with changes by Google that Amazon also adopted.
Interestingly I noticed this for the first time last night on the Android market and this morning with the Amazon market. Ebook downloads presently are unaffected to my rooted NC. Amazon recognizes my device as an Android but when I tried to make an app purchase this morning it suddenly tried to download it to a BN Nook. Amazon emailed me this morning saying that unless I have their market preloaded by the manufacturer they do not support it. Collusion?
I got the "not compatible" message after installing the most recent update from the Amazon App Store. Fortunately, I have the very first app store apk. I uninstalled the updated app store, then installed the old apk, logged in and then updated it and for some reason that worked for me. You might try not updating also to see if that works. I am not using CM7 though and I'm not manualnootered. I'm minirooted meaning I can side load apps and have superuser access, but no Android Market access and some other things.
I have attached the apk I used. I hope it works for you.

A better question would be is Amazon trying to bork the Nook Color with their app?
Anyone else have a suggestion for getting the Android Market working again for me?
thanks for the APK, I'll try it when I have a chance... But since the Android market from Google doesn't work either I'm hoping for a fix to that.
If you make the change in your build.prop “ro.product.manufacturer=BarnesAndNoble” to “ro.product.manufacturer=samsung” then reboot the device. This seems to fix most of the device compatibility problems in the Amazon appstore. I went down the top 100 paid and free app list, and the only apps that came up with the compatibility problems after doing this are,
Soundhound
Peggle
Thumb keyboard
Trainz simulator THD
Chuzzle
Talking Tom Cat
flexT9
GrooVe IP
Ultra Voice Changer
TV.com
Compass
Also attached is the amazon appstore v.1.14, it has the double click buying fix, but does not give all the compatibility issues. With installing this version does fix the compatibility problem, but you will be constantly hounded with the update reminder.
I don't use Facebook, but I was able to find, install and open the Facebook app with the new market. Do the density change using 240. Its more stable than 160 for whatever reason.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it had no effect. The first four apps i tried not on your list all came up incompatible, as did stuff on the google market.
I'll try your attachment to see if it helps. Thx!
kayak and tripit does not install
Running MN4.5 on NC. Kayak and Tripit are visible in Market and downloads - but I get a window that just says "error".
Any suggestions?

The old version of the market is working! I was able to install a number of apps that didn't previously work.
Now if I could just get the Google market to work!
Thanks for that link!
I was having the same problem with the AMAZON appstore (but not the android marketplace, for some reason) but I couldn't find the old amazon appstore apk. Going back to it totally fixed the problem. But you're right, the constant reminders to update the apk are a pain in the whatsus.
Also try going into application management and goto market and tap uninstall updates. Also use titanium backup or similar program to freeze market updater.
By what I read, I bet amazon is trying to block the competition because they are fixing to come out with their own tablets and by horning something like the nook you might be enticed to buy their tablet.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
My markets all seem to do whatever the f*ck they want the moment i need an application that was perfectly available minutes before. What i've done to get around the issue if neither the market or the amazon store have what i'm looking for is: (i know its tedious but hey it works)
1) install astro
2) using your android phone assuming you have one, download the applications you want regardless of them being compatible with the nook color according to the android market.
3) once your files are installed on your phone use astro to create a backup of the .apk files you want (open astro > menu > tools > application manager/backup)
4) i then take my sd card out of my phone and pop it into my nook color and install my apps through w.e file manager it is i have on the nook color
all the games that i cant normally download onto my nook through the official methods i've been able to install and play through the method i've been using. not ALL apps will allow you to back them up though =/
Hello. Yesterday I got my Galaxy. It downloaded apps I didn't want and never intended on downloading, all sorts of game trials etc'. Moreover, when I woke up and turned on the display, the device started downloading tons of updates for many apps, many weren't wanted in the first place. This made my device sluggish and unresponsive for about 20 minutes.
Why is this happening, and how do I stop it? Also, is there an App that makes it easier to delete stuff from the device?
Thanks.

Check your settings for the Play store to see if auto-updating is enabled, if so you can disable this and pick out what you want to update yourself. Some apps can also be disabled in the phone settings, under 'Applications'.
There is quite a bit of samsung bloatware installed, depending on your point of view, some are more useful than others. Below is a thread giving details of whats installed and what can be removed. You can do this manually with a root file explorer or there are scripts/mods to do this by flashable zip. Or if you check out the custom ROMs, many have been de-bloated.
