I'm opening this one to discuss about this newly leaked firmware.
Please don't spam this thread with that kind of posts that made moderators close the original thread.
The firmware was originally shared by user xade4.
You can download it here: link
This is a 2.3.4 GINGERBREAD firmware for your i9000.
You may flash it as usual using Odin or Heimdall, with the included 512.pit file, checking repartition if you need to.
Please disable ANY lagfix you have applied BEFORE flashing.
I'm currently using it with Hardcore kernel, which I used also for rooting it, with no problems at all.
FEATURES:
There's NO gtalk video chat support yet, but you can install the cwm package (search for it in "Themes and Apps" section) and have it fully working.
There's still the sensor bug problem. Please refer to the JVP-fix topic in General section.
I fixed it replacing the default sensors.default.so in /system/lib/hw/ with the one attached here (it's just the file, not a cwm package). Please DON'T try to fix it this way if you don't know how to do it.
Phone bug ("The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly") seems to be gone.
Edit: user mozzer2k4 reported some FC with stock odexed rom. Still no FC for me on my deodexed JVQ.
You can find the deodexed version of this firmware in development section.
Please note that stock Browser is laggy once you deodex it, but works great on the standard, odexed rom.

I am on rooted stock xxjvq + stock kernel.
Obtained root from flash latest speedmod kernel 1st, install root, then flash back to stock kernel.
Everything seems alot better than before. Everything was smooth and fast. Feels like no lag at all. Really love like this & I think I can live without CWM & all custom kernel &ROM , & remain stock just like this
From 10am till now (10.48pm), still have about 35% baterry remaining with sync on (2 gmail account , 1 facebook account) , data n wifi enabled, GPS testing (papago, igo, maps) , installing & restore app, about 2hrs call and smses.
Still dont have any issues yet. No FCs, bluetooth works like a charm, and everything is so smooth.
Actually, I'm thinking to install cm7 or miui, but after use this xxjvq, I think, I like this stock one from samsung ( with video call & great camera app )
Currently not thinking to flash any custom kernel or rom right now , because I'm really love this xxjvq.
Thanks samsung. Hope to see ice cream later on this i9000gt!

Question re upgrade.
As per JVP, did you apply JVQ, then the latest speedmod (applying root from CWM) then re-flashed JVQ kernel back?
Where did you get the stock kernel? Thanks
You can use sgs kernal flasher from the market for both bacKup and flash

Hey all,
I come back on the matter with deOdexed Browser.
I deodexed the rom myself, and i have the lag too. So it's not coming from Ramad.
Actually, the browser is not dragging but scrolling as it did before ... without displaying the animated transition.
(Same when you pinch to zoom.)
I modded this apk for a long, then will investigate and keep you in touch soon.

Instructions
Recommended:
1. Backup all of your apps, photos, etc. Use Titanium Backup (on the market) for your apps. Put the TitaniumBackup folder on your computer, along with your photos and such.
2. Using Odin, flash back to stock JF6. If your phone has 3-button problems use this Odin. This mostly effects 1008 phones (check under your battery).
3. Using Odin, Master Clear THIS DELETES EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE, INCLUDING THE INTERNAL SD CARD.
4. Root your phone. I use this one click.
5. Install Rom Manager from the market. Using this, install Clockwork Mod recovery.
1. Transfer Assonance_x.x.zip to your SD Card.
2. Reboot into Clockwork Mod recovery and flash Assonance_x.x.zip
3. Following installation, reboot the phone.
4. It will say "Config files differ". Choose "Yes, with backup and restore". Wait for it to complete.
5. Allow the phone to boot. This will take an abnormally long time. Somewhere between 2 and 4 minutes. The dots will not stop for any period longer than 10 seconds.
6. Allow the phone to establish a data connection. This will take longer than normal, and should be done within a minute or two.
7. Restore apps with Titanium Backup, add your photos, etc.
8. Enjoy for 15 minutes before caving to your insatiable ROM Flashing obsession.

An update about the browser issue and a temporary fix:
I managed to get the browser working on a deodexed JVQ.
Here is a temporary fix until we find how to fix the browser issue without the need for any odex files. You need to be on fully a stock firmware(non stock kernel is OK), means no modded apk files or framework files, because I have only tested it on a stock firmware, but if your firmware is modded and you don't mind re-flashing if it goes wrong then use at your own risk, making a CWM backup is a good idea on moded firmwares, you can copy the files using CWM or manually, choose what works best for you:
Flash via CWM: (You need around 16MB of free space on /system)
CWM Package: Download (6.3 MB) MD5:f5b8cbdde94be7cf6e4604f0051334eb
Click to collapse
Click to collapse
How to copy the files manually: (You need around 16MB of free space on /system)
*Extract and copy the extracted odex folder with the odex files to your internal SD-card: Download (6.3 MB) MD5:2cff4b99c08d7b84af9c7e6838daccaa
*Put the phone on 'Debugging-mode' and connect it to your PC
*Open a command prompt and brows to the adb directory, then execute the following:
adb shell
su
busybox mount -o rw,remount /system
stop
cp -r /sdcard/odex/* /system/framework
rm -r /data/dalvik-cache/*
reboot
Click to collapse
Done, the boot will take a some time because the firmware will re-build the dalvik-cache but the browser will work fine after that.
Click to collapse
Click to collapse
This is for developers and experienced users:
It's not that simple as it appears that 4 odex files must be on /system/framework in order to get the browser running as it should, these 4 files are:
bouncycastle.odex
core.odex
ext.odex
framework.odex
Remove one of these files and the circle collapses and the browser lags as you know.
I don't know if it's because the browser is programmed to look for the odex/classes files on /system/framework, if that is the case then it might be possible to change some lines in the browser classes files or the apk file itself.
I just wanted to share this with you so those with good-code-reader-eyes might have a clue on where to start looking.
Great, works on my modded deodexed rom with all mods still alive... you just need enough space in system and to wipe dalvik cache. Thanks!!!

Some members have reported that it does not work on deodexed modified firmwares, so making a nandroid backup is recommended before using the CWM package.
yeah, a nandroid is nice to have, thats for sure!
so listen to Ramad, you could also screw your config when using the odexed framework files together with deodexed ones!
i had luck
EDIT:
till i used the powermenu -- hot reboot and then fine
or changed the lockscreens --endless hot reboots
so it is not as easy as it seems at first (although autobrightness-mod, batterymod and rotary-lockscreen are working well)
hey Ramad,

Hi Eric
Did you try the browser on the deodexed version o XXJVQ, you will be able to deodex and use the browser, with or without modifications, on a stock firmware and it will behave normally, but the browser will not be smooth at all when the whole firmware is deodexed, this is why we say it lags, because it does not response as it should and lags behind the command when you scroll or click on a subject as a picture or a link. I think that you will get a better idea of what I wrote when you flash the deodexed firmware and try the browser.
Hello Ramad,
The first think i did after downloading the odex Firmware was to deodex it...
I thought as many that the browser was buggy/laggy until i decide to reflash to stock odex and debug it.
I'm then 100% confident that there's no lag on the browser itself and that it responds well. You feel that there is a an lag only because it do not render the zoom/scroll animation.
The issue come from the whole deodexing of apps and framework in batch. Guess that the apk use one of them (or many) to render the animation.
I got some similar unexpected visual effect when i began to study apk and compile them by myself.
I will add some tips to reproduce into this post related to the mod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15330205#post15330205
Whatever,
It is nice and time saver to work together and see how to solve.

near the bottom you can find 07/03/2011 : How To FIX yourself the laggy deodexed browser.apk
It is for SGS2 but could work for SGS1 (with the right files from proper SGS1 browser to work with)
Still, I beleve for the SGS1 browser problem we have to look in correcty deodexing framework.jar file as for me that delivers the lagging problem...
Cheers!

I did read your post just now, sorry. I got my hands full now, uploading three stock firmwares, don't be so exited, they are all 2.3.3
Thanks again Ramad,i've put the files into the framework folder before flahing your stock deodex coming from the odex JVQ (plus the cfroot zimage and a little change in the updater-script to make a nowipe one as i always do,saying that just to be the more specific possible),and browser works indeed as it should.
I will try mods or little theme things step by step (as long as mods doesn't include framework.jar it should be ok?as for the odex mods without framework.jar preserve the browser?)
My noob's impressions already told me that the solution for that browser thing lies in the SamHaLeKe link.(browser new animations that must be well "declared" in the modified framework.jar...something like that?...)
Hum,sorry for thinking my opinion(sensation...)may belong here and for my surely difficult to understand english.
Hi SamHaLeke,
I went to read it...
Pulse-g2 did a regression by porting the classes from a older Browser.
Great if it work, but it is like to use the JVP Browser on JVQ...

If exact, you're still running with deodexed, and challenged to fix the lag .

so i went back to deodexed jvq (because of my mods) + your modded jvq browser + ramads 4 .odex files and it works well (browsing wiith jvq-browser), my mods are also "quite" okay:
- battery mods and theming: works!
- autobrightnessfix works
- tv animation works
- all 9 lockscreens are working (changing not)******
*****--> powermenu + 9-lockscreen switching is broken due to stock framework.odex but when i delete framework.odex and do a reboot, i can switch between all lockscreens and apply them (jvq browser laggs awfully now beause of that)
now i copy the framework.odex back & do a reboot: jvq browser is working again without lagging and i can use the new lockscreen aswell!
EDIT:
using dexopt (in the right bootclass order) to RE-ODEX my modded deodexed framework didn't help. now the browser laggs again.
maybe this might be helpful aswell
Yes it help a lot...
As , for sure, we now where to focus .
I just deodexed the framework by hand, and found something about opengl and jit, and the JVQ browser use openGl to render the scroll/zomm animation.
However it close to midnight in Sri Lanka, and i will resume the investigations tomorrow.
Have a good night/morning or afternoon depending your location .
Eric,

i'm glad to hear i could point you into a nice direction for further investigations.
jit+open gl sounds good to me, in comparison to other browser-releases we never had any acceleration before
i whish you the best for tomorrow, maybe its gonna be a great jvq-day
works great on JVQ rooted with CF-root-v3.7
tested one two similar SG S i9000
flashed with CWM Manager
thanks for the zip, Ramad

Your way of working things is correct, you try things separately or step by step on a stable platform to see what brings it down.
Opinions and ideas are needed, we are not going any where without the best of them.

I was wondering the same.
I have yet run it his browser through the paces completely, but it seems to be running great so far. It is fast as heck and super smooth. I'm in the US using a Captivate on Continuum 6.1 (deodexed JVQ based).
Ice Cream Zenwich Beta RC 1.1
This is a port of the Ice Cream Zenwich RC 1.1. In no way what so ever did I make this rom.
Here is the link to his ROM- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1499455
Change Log in Third Post
Add-Ons in Second Post
Primary sources for this rom are included but not limited to:
BHuvan goyal - Initial work on the AOKP port for the i9000: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1489213
Team Kang - The AOKP Project, the Framework, RomControl and other apps: https://sites.google.com/site/androidopenkangproject/
Team ICSSGS - Sourced some binaries, apps, and other assorted files for functionality: http://code.google.com/p/ice-cream-sandwich-sgs/
Team Hacksung - I am positive there is something CM9 in there somewhere
A handful of themers in the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus forums - inverted apps, I'll track them all down and list them here soon.
*I am also interested in suggestions for improvements. Please post these in the thread as well.
If you guys post suggestions and bugs I will will be sure to tell Br1cK'd(the dev)

I cannot be held responsible for what happens to your device, face it, by this point, your warranty is out the window. By flashing this software, you agree to my assumption that you know what you are doing, and how to recover from one of those oops moments that happen to the best of us.
Whats New
-Rebuilt from a new base
-Glitch Kernel v14 B3 captivatemtd
-Changed out some apps and most of the framework
-Removed the Inverted Market, and you can now purchase apps
-Added the ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk
Whats Included
-ICS 4.0.3 IML74K firmware, deodexed and rooted with Superuser and Busybox installed
-[Kernel] Glitch Kernel v14 B3 captivatemtd
-AOKP RomControl - Romanbb does it again, superb app for customizing the rom and the framework to support it. Sometimes this guy is still my hero! (anyone get that reference?)
-Tweaked framework and SysUI
-Inverted Apps: Calendar, Gmail, MMS, Music, People, Phone, and Youtube
-Stock Launcher
Known Issues
-Autobrightness is buggy at best.
-On the power menu reboot selection, you have to press, recovery, bootloader, then reboot in order to reboot normally, otherwise it goes straight to recovery when pressing reboot.
-I experience the mute/unmute bug, but my callers say its not as bad, although toggling mute makes it sound clearer.
-Wifi tethering may or may not work.
Tell me what else you find
What Works
-Mostly everything else that's bundled
Install Instructions
You MUST wipe, fully. If you have a problem and you didn't wipe, I'm calling your mama, who is going to come out and wipe for you in front of everybody, embarassing you in front of all your friends and ruining your life forever. So please, save yourself the hassle and humiliation, and just wipe. I will never, ever, edever, put out a no wipe update. Thank you.
Gingerbread bootloaders are recommended!!!
If coming from a Twiz based Rom - you will have to flash this twice, Wipe as per the steps below, flash the rom, it will reboot in the middle of the flash. Use your buttons to reboot into recovery mode, then wipe and flash again, starting from the first step below. If that still doesn't work, you may need to go to CM7 as an intermediary step between Twiz and ICS.
If coming from another ICS build - you should just be able to flash straight away, if it doesn't work, be sure you wiped. If you have to go back to go forward, let it be so.
Steps
-Download ICZen and place it on your internal sd
-Reboot to Clockwork Recovery
-Perform a wipedata/factory reset
-Go to mounts and storage and format the system partition
-Flash your downloaded ICZ rom file
-From the main menu of recovery, perform a wipedata/factory reset again
-Reboot
-On bootup, give it a few minutes to settle in, reboot and use as normal.
-Enjoy your ICZen!
This rom uses the /datadata partition. You may get a low space message if you tend to load a lot of apps. Try turning your Gmal sync down to a day or two instead of the default, or moving apps to sd.
I recommend the data fix from Team ICSSGS, you can find the link to their site above. It will put your data/data on the 2Gb partition, at the sacrifice of speed. You can now use the intergrated memory controls in the Rom Control to maintain a high level of free memory, I use 100MB, and that definitely kills any lag the data fix may cause.

I really like rom. There are lots of wicked features. But
Sync doesn't work. For some reason I'm connected to 3g/h and when I try to sync it says cannot.establish a connection. I also can't browse the web because of this. Ugkg3 on rogers and it always works well with full service.

If you would read, you would notice that he credits AOKP, which is a port from a nexus rom, and he said that he used the framework and the rom control from AOKP. Also, the are inverted apps and if you noticed, all of the ports are very similar, with the exception of slim

No idea whats wrong. My phone just doesnt like ics i guess. Still havent found a rom stable enough to use daily on my phone.

Ok, i will look into it and see what i can do
To clear something...
Firstly ım writing this for only because ı think there is a needed information that anybody dont knows gps abaut this rom...And please dont reply this post...
Firstly SGS Family devices( i9000,cappy,vibrant...) in fact has same devices but has some minor changes too... For that reason you can simply port between these devices...
If we talk abaut this rom then this rom has AOKP base but originally its a vibrant rom. And vibrant gps hardware is not same to cappy and vibrant roms has different gps settings... You can see AOKP works gps but this rom not... because this reason...
So ı can say there is % 0 possibility for working gps on Cappy now.(Needs a gps fix not a simple changing gps.conf file)
I sure hope the GPS can be fixed since this is the only ics rom i tried so far that can run on my cappy without it shutting down.

Just pm link.
Me 2! I PM'd you..
FYI I am a beta tester.
A little info on the rom, it is built on CM7 MTD setup.
current build boot loops upon install from ICS (cm9), but upon re-installing from its kernel, I was able to boot to system!!!
Interesting fact, HTC sense roms are huge! system/lib folder for this rom is 93MB, and the system/app and system/framework folders are installed to data/sys-parts/app and framework respectively, then symlink'd to their original system folder location. as the app and framework folders alone are 168 MB.
The first odd thing i have seen is in the first run setup... 100s of languages, including 30 versions of English but noe of the English languages were for US or Canada.... Funny. Ireland and Zimbabwe get their own english versions but not any for North american countries? Must have been ported from an Asian/European htc rom?
I think i can live with using UK English.. but if it starts chiming at Tea Time every day im going to flip!

Yea, I report the same. I installed the rom and everything seemed to be working until there was no way to get the radio to work. The phone always shows Sprint ,and is unable to get a signal...although very nice rom!

Also didnt seem to notice any rendering issues with the HTC clock.
Apart from the Radio issue , wifi seems to be working just fine.

but on a different topic, I was thinking today, bringing Sense to any and all devices, should be known/called the " Common Sense Project ". As in, common to all phones (someday, hopefully).
Eh!? Yeah!... So on with the Captivate Common Sense Project!!
so first off.. for phone/data issues..go to settings > About Phone > Phone Identity
whats missing? LOL everything!
efs folder... exists...
About phone > Hardware Information
All accounted for except bluetooth address, bluetooth type OK.
Bluethoth also doesnt turn on if you havent tried.
Need Captivate Bluetooth files

About phone > Software Information
Baseband Version: Unknown
What modem is it supposed to have? Because the rom isnt finding it.
FYI. since you dont have a Captivate, you probably dont know, with an i9000 re-oriented captivate kernel, and i9000 modem, or CM kernel and i9000 modem, the Captivate can achieve HSPA ( 4G )
possible duplicate of facebook for htc and facebook... ? trying to merge all facebook contacts with htc facebook contacts..? -EDITnope, htc facebook is the equivilant of snsprovider facebook sync we used to enjoy on captivate, where you turn facebook app sync off to avoid duplicate facebook entries.
Outdated apps:
Market x2
Voice Search
Rom Manager
YouTube
Google MapsStreet View on Google
Facebook for Android
Google Search
GMail
Superuser x2
Not needed Apps:
Flashlight App - No light
Mirror App- No Front Camera
FM Radio App and Widget - Cappy no got.
thats it for now, im going to shower work off me. Listening to Alice In Chains.
EDIT: would be nice to have a list of what files were from HTC , which were from Samsung and what samsung device, and which were AOSP builds, if any.
EDIT 2: Still havent showered but went to use Voice Search, and it fails saying " Audio Problem ", assuming Microphone issues. Rear Speaker works, unsure how to test ear speaker without phone or mic.. also need to test headphone jack
Edit 3. still smell. wow! holy unnecessary apps batman! " /data/sys-parts/app/ " is full of duplicate apps. 2 markets both old, 2 superusers - one unofficial conflicting with real one updating, also a few apps in the folder dont show in drawer or system ui. as the htc theme " skins " wood , metal, slate ect. dont show up in the personalization screen, although personalization and htc hub downloads work! and as mentioned above dont need fm radio and widget, and flashlight.
Edit 4. Showered!! - Edit photo effects... does nothing. crop works though.
Hello all
I had a Galaxy S which i messed around with and changed kernels and ROMS many moons ago. I got an upgrade so gave it to the wife, and shes gone and done something to it. Half the apps crash, voice calls are all distorted, and the play store wont work.
I tried to install a different ROM but Im gonna have to hold my hands up, admit Im a noob, and ask for help. Id like to get the phone back factory (i.e default Kernel and default ROM) settings.
Ive seen a program called EZRom which as far as i can tell, does this for me.
i cant post the link cos im a new user, but could someone ell me if this is what I should use?
Heres are the phones details:
Baseband Version I9000XXjpy
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
[email protected] #1
Build Number
FROYO.XWJSD
If that EZRom wont do it, can someone link me to a noob friendly guide to restoring my phone back to how it would have come out of the box?
Many thanks

Ok, its not advisable to use Froyo at this time and age, you should upgrade it to Gingerbread . You can do this by connecting your phone to a PC with KIES, and after you have backed up your contacts and images etc, that you would want to keep.
or you can flash a Ezbase rescue kit, with Odin, from My Android Collections , link below.
