[Q] mmc problem.. - Acer Iconia A500

hi.. when i connect my tablet to my pc it shows only the internal memory and not the memory card.. is it the prob with all acer iconia tab a500 or just mine..?
how to instal softwares on memory card instead of internal memory??

You can't. Memory card is mounted under /mnt/external_sd but you can only store files there. You can't install anything there.

thanks.. that's quite stupid.. even my smartphone is smarter Dan that!

May be but you smartphone doesn't have 32gb of internal storage. That would make installing to SD redundant because internal memory is usually faster. But it's great that we have some extra storage options for movies and mp3s.

Differences between internal and external SD card?

Hallo everyone,
I just get my SGS and I notice that the memory structure is so defined:
- The internal storage memory (8Gb, but i see only 5,7) is called "SDcard"
- the phisical external Sd card is seen as a directory, called "SD" under the SDcard.
Now my questions are:
When I install big seized programs,e.g. Navigators, all the program data are by default stored in the internal memory, which is limited and fix (not expandable). I would install the navigation map on the exernal Sd.
Is this a problem of Android or just how SGS impemented it? Is it possible to make the external card be rocognised as primary SDcard?
- Why the internal memory is only 5,7Gb? ok 8Gb are theoretical but 2,3 GB less ....
Thanks
Bye
The reason it's so small is because the OS and it's apps have to go somewhere, also when Froyo is released you'll be able to install apps directly to the SD card but know that internal memory is much faster than an SD card so you may what to keep that in mind when you factor in what apps to install to SD.
Hallo Sebrina,
thanks for the answer, I supposed the 2,3 Gb were for the OS, in fact the space for application is 1,8GB, but I hoped the two memorys are separated.
So with froyo will be able really to install the app on the real Sd card, and not on the internal memory, whichist called "SDcard" by the os?
Thanks
bye

is it possible to re-partition the internal SD?

storage confusion(memory)

im just a bit confused about the sd card in general,,my phone of astro file manager has like,,,phone>sdcard>externalsd...which is weird and i never know if im searching my phone or my sd card...
when i try and load things i have dragged on my pc desktop onto sdcard they ussualy then go into phone>sdcard>external sd and never just .... sd card
i was trying to load images into sketchbook mobile and i could only do so from the phones camera pictures where i now have to drag everything omn the desktop....why cant i make use of my 32gb external sd card in this regard?
where are the applications for augmenting tehe sd card memory or whatever not for just having aplication sent to sd card memory,
does the sd card just work like say,,an external usb hard drive for a computer except you can put some inatalled application on it,,,,,but nothing like media,,photos videos etc?
or is it just me?
cheers
Your phone aka tab is divided into parts
System arnd 2 gigs
SDCARD arnd 14 gigs
System works as space for system
Sd as your sd card - Flashing doesn't destroy data on this
And if you place another SD card then it is termed as external_sd
So primary storage for you phone is SD Which is its own space
PS : there is usb storage folder (in sd card directory) also which is for your pendrives, etc

there are a lot more partitions than the 2 you mentioned!
efs
system (~1GB)
data (~2GB)
hidden
...
as far as i remember the note has 8 or 9 partitions (all of them have to be
subtracted from the initial 16gig (unformated!! formated it will be significantly less) storage!
so from your 16gigs you should see around 11GB as free mem on '"sdcard"!
i can't tell exactly because i have the 32gb internal version. with it a little more than 25,5GB are shown as "total" available (not free) storage!
as mentioned above
the rom has 1gb partition
data/system has 2gb
rest is used for sd card purposes around about 11.8gb
the device sees the internal memory as sd memory, the external sd card is seen under /external_sd
the file mangers will automatically go directly to the internal storage when browsing
i understand that I get about 12 GB left from 16 internally but.....
what can I actually do with the external_sd?
I cant load jpeggs onto sketchbook mobile at the moment. Reaally annoying
Any reason as to why it wouldn't recognize files in the external_sd?
Also we were saying about partitins and other random folder in the phone SD and external sd? anyone got a referrl to which ones can be deleted and generally how to make the phone and external sd card more navigation friendly?
please this would be really helpful
external_sd is your physical micro sd card, you can do what you want with it, i personally have all my music and movies on there
what files are you putting on the card?

Internal/External memory confusion on L7.... -.-'

I recently bought an L7, added it a 32gb memcard, im already using link2sd with a 2nd part on the same card...
Now the problem is that the phone also has its internal memory as SD card and all of the media is stored in the internal 3gb memory, how the heck am I supposed to make the phone save all of the "internal sd card" data to the actual external sd?

Its a wild try, but you could try to get the "Rom Toolbox Pro" on the internet and install it on the phone, there is a tweak for that in the app.

[Q] Repartition Internal Memory

Hi,
Xolo q700 has 4GB internal memory bifurcated as ROM+Internal Storage+Phone Storage, with Internal Storage ~1GB and Phone Storage ~2GB
Most of the time, I use SD card instead of Phone Storage and I am finding that the free Internal Storage has come down to ~60 MB. I can't install many apps because of this.
I was trying to see if we can re-partition the Internal Memory to have more Internal Storage by getting space from Phone Storage. I don't want to use Link2SD because I can't run most apps if I remove the SD card. Also don't want to keep apps data on SD card.
I came across many threads, but by far [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240954] looks the simplest.
Anyone else has done something similar to their q700/q700i?
Admin/Devs, can you help us?
Thanks,
