How to flash this rom with my Samsung Galaxy S I9000.
(one thing i mention that i took jvq from samfirmware from the section of samsung Galaxy S)

Galaxy Apollo Froyo Question

Good Afternoon everyone,
My partner has a Samsung Galaxy Apollo (Which I beleive is I5801?). She still has Android 2.1 and is getting annoyed with it as it has bugs and she can't use Internet Tethering.
I have checked on Kies and there is no update is there anyway I can get 2.2 on it?
I have seen this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858569
There is no actualy one that says Froyo next to a I5801 but can the I5800 go on the Apollo? If not has anyone managed to get 2.2 working on the Apollo and how because I have been pulling my hair out trying to find a way.
Thanks,
Max
You can flash i5800 firmwares on to i5801s, but remember to remove boot.bin and sbl.bin to keep your i5801 boot screen. There are certain risks like losing IMEI and/or WiFi MAC address. Just flash the i5800 froyo firmwares with Odin, there is a guide on it somewhere in the section.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
Thanks. I will have a look into that tomorrow then and get ready to flash

Updating the Galaxy Tab to the latest firmware !

Hey guys
I'm running the P1000JXJJ1, FroYo JPJJ2 firmware on my Tab, and samfirmware states P1000JVJL1 is the latest one !
so I was advised NOT to use KIES, and ODIN was better !!
My tab is rooted with OCLF set, Just a quick question, Odin will delete all my data and also I believe that I'd have to re-ROOT the device right?
another question is since I didn't have market out of the box, the product sales code has been changed to XSG.
thanks a lot guys in advance
Cheers
Jackie
if u use oclf, undo oclf b4 update firmware, kies or odin works fine for me, i'll only use odin when i screw up with my tab
and will I have to re root the device and also will ODIN delete all my data?
Hi,
searching for something else I accidentily found this thread.
Maybe my experince might be of any interest: got the galaxy tab 3 days ago, installed KIES and instantly got a message to update the firmware to Froyo JK5. I followed the suggestion to save my data which I regret later, because it took very long (had already copied a lot of videos to the internal sd) and couldn´t stop it. To cut it short:
the update was successful and nothing deleted, just everything in place. Also synchronized Outlook contacts, though at 96% it got stuck - waited a few minutes, then broke up and all contacts had been transferred fine.
(don´t know, if firmware is different for other countries...)
Odin will not delete your data if you did not choose to repartition, no need to use pit file to repartition if you are just upgrading fw from the same region..safest is still via KIES
To correct some mis-information from above. Flashing with Odin can delete your data, it depends on what components are included in the image you flash. If you flash an official ROM with Kies you should not loose your data but there is always a risk of an issue occurring during any flash that could lead to data loss. Unless you flash a pre-rooted custom ROM you will loose root and SU during a flash. These can be re-applied easily to the SGT using the Super One-Click method.
Redardless of what flashing method you use, if you use RyanZA's OCLF you must undo the lag fix before you flash, otherwise you will certainly loose data and possibly end up with a corrupt system that won't boot (I had first hand experience of this early on in my flashing days with my SGS!). You shouldn't really need to apply a lagfix to the SGT as it doesn't seem to suffer from the same lag as the SGS.
Finally, flashing with Odin can lead to product code being changed, especially if the ROM you flash isn't intended for the normal product code of your device. There are various ways to restore your poduct code, look in the Samsung Galaxy S forums for suggestions on how to do this as the basic construction of the ROMs is very similar between the two devices from that point of view. Also, be aware that people with SGS devices have reported loosing their IMEI while flashing with Odin. If this happens you will end up with a WiFi only device unless you backed up your /efs folder before you flashed. There's lots of info in the SGS forums about this and it's worth a read if you are new to flashing. I haven't heard of anyone with a SGT loosing their IMEI yet but it's worth taking precautions.
Happy flashing folks!!
thanks a bunch guys, I'm now running the latest version !!
was just trying to install the latest gingerbread theme from the forums !! will let you all know how that went

Go to the Android Development section.
Look up Overcome and BOCA for the Galaxy Tab. Both a great however I prefer BOCA. The current release is 2.3.4 but 2.3.7 is in the works.
If you follow the instructions for BOCA you will have a GTab that feels like it was newly born again.

Yes. Follow the instructions on the magrathea site or overcome
Use overcome instructions to instal stock GB 5. It tells you the pit and modem to use for your tab.
Then install the overcome kernel and reboot. It will root the tab and format the storage.
Then you install the Boca zip over the overcome kernel.
If you just want overcomes Rom follow their instructions. They make it simple

is that all??hmm,
will try donload all the files 1st,then i will try
thanks guyz for da info..
so i dont need to flash stock rom like i always do with my SGS before installing any custom rom?

[Q] Update firmware

Hi,
I bought 3 monthes ago a european galaxy tab that has the JJ3 firmware. I wanted to know if I could directly flash the JMG one onto the tab ? I'm asking this because I saw a thread where someone was flashing from a JJ* to JM6 and then JMF I think. Is it necessary to do those extra steps ?
Thanks,
tooptoop

You can flash straight to JMG from JJ3 fine. If you look in the JMG thread in the Tab development forum, on page 3 (I think) I've posted a link to a stock JMG package which contains everything you need but doesn't contain bootloaders. Don't use the link Chainfire posted in the first post as it doesn't have dbdata.rfs included in the package and your Tab probably won't boot if you flash that. I'm sure you've seen the threads about bootloaders but just as a reminder, beware of flashing any ROM that may contain them as you could hard brick your phone if the flash goes wrong.

[Q] samsung galaxy s i9000 rooting software and firmware upgrade

hi guys i urgently need help in finding the software that would upgrade my firmware from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 or above and i cant seem to find the software to root my fone either (gingerbread)
Are you wanting to try a custom ROM (pre-rooted) or do you just wanna use the standard Samsung firmware and root it?
Firmware upgrade & rooting GT-I9000
I upgraded from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 and then rooted my GT-I9000 and installed ClockworkMod Recovery. This was an excellent move! But I am given to understand that this is also the preferred route to custom roms should you wish to go in that direction. I found the following guides to be extremely helpful:
"theandroidsoul.com/galaxy-s-gets-official-value-pack-firmware-xxjw4-includes-touchwiz-4/"
"theandroidsoul.com/xxjw4-root-and-clockworkmod-recovery-for-galaxy-s/"
Another useful link - especially if you need to go back - is the firmware archive at:
"samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9000"

Galaxy S: GT-I9000: RemICS-UX v1.3 beta.

I cant do with odin. I have downloaded Odin3 V3.09, official firmware from sammobile "S5360_XXMC2_OXFMC1_XXMC2", all drivers are installed correctly but when i put the S5360_XXMC2_OXFMC1_XXMC2 file into "AP" it odin stuck at "Leave CS.." . I have tried older odin (3.07, 1.85, 1.84) Same problem again. Tried on different usb ports/computer and nothing. Where can i download the original firmware (3 files "csc-modem-pda" not 1 as sammobile firmwares) for my GT-S5360 ?
Here it is a broken link from samsung-updates samsung-updates.com/details/13437/Galaxy_Y/GT-S5360/ALB/S5360XXMC2.html
