Galaxy S discontinues in India

[WARNING] Galaxy S being phased out?
Hi,
I came across this article.

Can somebody confirm this?
PS : Most of the major cities in India are out of stock & the retailers are telling No stock is coming from Samsung.

Galaxy S has been discontinued in INDIA, and this fact, i have been looking for one from past 2 weeks for my dev work, though i have allreday 2 phones with me...
here is one of the source... not sure its true or just a fake news... but no stock in BANGALORE

This is probably true. I went to a Croma today (at Mumbai), they were out of stock and they would not comment on when and if new stocks would arrive. They didn't actually say that it's been discontinued, however even the display piece has been removed.

I enquired at our local TheMobileStore & they said that production had stopped & no further stock was expected.

Why would it be phased out to make way for the Nexus S. I thought the nexus was Manufactured by Samsung for Google so they don't actually sell it it's google phone to sell. It could just be though that in India the market appears to be moving over to purchasing the Nexus so its pointless selling the Galaxy there?

Have you not been following the news? Not the Nexus S but the Galaxy S x2 which is being announced at CES on the 6th. The name is not certain but hte phone is. Code will be one of three. I9020, I9200, I9300. Rejoice.

It will be 'obsolete' in 3-6 months once the dual-core phones hit the market. Hehe. I think LG is planning a launch anytime now, Samsung et al will certainly follow.

How do you check the manufacturing date??
Also, if someone needs it in hyderabad, stocks are available in Reliance digital, secunderabad. Just saw it 3 days back.

Does this mean end of new firmwares for SGS?

Hope not. Sonyericsson offer 2 year support so I hope the same goes here. Although samsung have ben a lil more forthcoming with their updates lol.

lol, 2 years. I would bet money for the fact they'll never bring froyo to the x10. SE is best example for how you can make good hardware underperforming at its maximum.

May 5th AT&T/Samsung Announcement

a couple of android sites are reporting that they've been invited a press event where they'll have a "special announcement" i'm hoping it's about the SGS2 but more likely it'll be either the Infuse or the AT&T Nexus S. but you know... hope springs eternal.

The best buy ad here has the infuse coming May 2011 but nothing about Galaxy S 2

OP, the majority of people in that old thread "In USA: Where to Pre-Order" think this is the Samsung Infuse and not the Samsung Attain yet, in my opinion the AT&T's version of SGS2, because of the first 3 letters. There is no way VZW, Sprint or TMOB are taking that name. Well TMOB could.

I guess you're pointing out the fact that the laptop has a picture of the T-Mobile website with the SGS2 on it?

yep. i know it's a mock up... but what would be the point of teasing it like that. maybe it's like a little easter egg. adobe is good for sprinkling them in their products.

I just hope that doesn't mean T-Mobile is gonna get it before us AT&T users. Although, I don't care as much if it means were getting closer to getting it.
But no, they won't get it first, because they're announcing it for us on May 5th!

It's been mentioned in another thread that ad is for T-Mobile UK.
I want the S2 as much as anyone else, but this may not be the clue you want.

Would make sense....T-Mobile's page never looked like that

That other thread also pointed out that next to it is a MT4G, which someone claimed TMO UK doesn't have.
My wife will kill me when TMOUS gets the sgs2, because I cannot avoid getting it. It's a compulsion.

I say...
they announce the Infuse release date and throw up some other flagship in there as well.

I hope it's the Samsung Infuse with Dual Core.
But seriously, it's probably just the Infuse we saw back in CES that they're going to announce.

Goodbye SGS2

I just bid goodbye to my sgs2..sold it yesterday for 950 usd..i had used it for two weeks and it is simply the best phone i ever owned and maybe the best phone ever release, but because of the nature of my work i have to give it up for a smaller phone (Desire S) more usable on my site work.
Cheers to all of you owning SGS2 here, its the greatest phone as of now! Thanks!

Im a structural engineer here in qatar, its dusty here in the site so i dont want to sacrifice expensive phone (SGS2), usually we make calls or we receive calls, it may be ruined..

I'm a Structural Engineer / Project Manager in Australia with Caltex. I agree, working on site is no place for the SGSII. I use my Moto Atrix on site for work, and SGSII off site for leisure.

Just paid almost $700 for the Uk Unbranded GS2...

I must say i did not know that my version was light years thinner and lighter then all the us models untill i played with all 3 models anyways my question is what would you have picked? the real Uk Gs2 or branded GS2 now my uk version gets 4g but on Att only but im on tmobile and i keep my clear wireless on me at all times so im never on edge but witch model do you guys like? The exnoys Cpu is a beast and faster then the S3 i hear but again was my choice a good one i love how thin this device is and the fact its not tied to any network so the Ics update should come with no problems and theres tons of roms and development for the uk gs2

Also the AT&T model is the same as the international model lmao (same thickness except it has 4 capacitive buttons). So you obviously didn't play with AT&T model and you got ripped off. Oh yea and its pathetic that you have to carry a hotspot with you at all times just to get 3G speeds.

My choice, I would have bought the cheapest, and not asked for opinions after buying it in the wrong part of the forums.

i9100 is $560-580 right now.

well also here in ontario i purchased a new device rather then those of "kijiji" or "ebay" b/c of some people bs'in about things and products and with tax of 13% i paid about $700 but with that i got a leather case + a protector and also from a wireless store and got their warranty + 1 more year on top total of 2 yrs. so yeah i looked @ my benefits but now whether it'd be galaxy galatica or note or sgs3 come out im 150% on my device + no contract either .. so till death this device is with me and i know yeah LTE and all this bullcrap but i don't need that sh** nor am i tempted to get htc raider or sgs 2 lte or w/e is out b/c all of them have same specs xcept maybe "screen" which is useless you might as well carry a tablet or a laptop ..and nfc which is no biggie b/c unless ur a doosh and lazy to carry a wallet then u might as well grow up and start carrying a wallet..lol no offence anyone plz don't start a bashing contest cause ill laugh and thats just that and as far as speed you can overclock sgs2 to 1.4 or 1.6 anyways with dual processor. now lets be nice and enjoy what we have and how we have it and so on..

What's the price of the G3?

I am thinking about selling the galaxy 3 and I was wondering how much money I could get for it? It's untouched, unlocked and with a new battery, and I would install the stock froyo on it. In euros would be easier for me.

Just check on ebay but i think it's pretty worthless. Maybe £25 if you're really lucky so i think you should just keep it and wait for JB

In it's last days the g3 was priced at Rs.9,000 (~150-160$) Now it would be absolutely worthless and I doubt there would be any customer to buy it. I am using it as an autofocus webcam nowadays

I got mine for £80 one year and 2-3 months ago and thats equivalent to €100 (i think). The price has decreased by a LOT because the hardware is outdated and android phones are improving and being released so quickly. Also, it's not oficially sold anymore.

I saw the 3.4 kernel thread.. its written there, three devs have uart. Marcellusbe does not have uart setup. Only his name is mentioned.

Yes, he has an uart setup.

It's not worthless! I mean, you can do anything with it. Hardware is outdated, but for me that only counts if you want to play HD games or record HQ video.
Perfect phone, GPS navigation, everyday camera, email client, mp3 player, social media stuff, etc. Kudos
As for the price, german Amazon's got it for 190€, a good used one on ebay is 50€ or so. Seems pretty much if I compare to other numbers here...

Well, if somebody still lives in Mumbai, India, this phone is available in R City Mall Croma for some 8~9,000.

I live in England but I've been India twice so i'm familiar with the currency conversion and i have to say, whoever is selling that is ripping you off so badly! I got mine 1 year and 2 months ago for less than that! And i got it brand new from a respected retailer that works all over the UK

I'll keep my g3 with me rather than selling it for that low price.....it's still an awesome little beast...it's not worth selling it
