Just got my A500 tablet. I'm trying to tie it to my Google account and I get a screen asking if I want to "Keep this device backed up with my Google Account".
What I'd like to know is exactly what does this backup and where? And do I have the option of deleting it later?

I have NO idea how or why it would happen. I have been reading that using file sharing has been known to cause this, I use Samba constantly if that counts.
I cannot delete the account through the settings menu as it was the account used to set up my phone, Its saying I have to factory reset...and I really dont want to do that.

You have to have a second account on the phone before you can delete the original.
I have 3 accounts synced , and it still is saying that I have to factory reset to remove the account linked to the market (and everything else)
Do I really need to lose my paid market apps AND all my phone data?
I am running bonsai and I do have titanium backups of everything...but I factory reset...bonsai restores all data, and I assume that would include the accounts and sync app/data

I believe the only way to remove the original account used to setup the phone is to do a factory reset. You would also lose access to any apps you've paid for with that account.

From time to time I'll root a Nook Color for a friend (CM7). Right now I've got a NC to root as a surprise gift for a person who already has a Gmail account he'll want to use with it (I don't have his password).
Question -- Suppose I use an "extra" Gmail account of mine to access Market and install apps on the NC, then send the NC to his wife, who gives it to him. Can he then add his own Gmail account, delete mine and then use it normally or would the apps and setup I do be erased?
I tried this on my own NC just now. I added a second Gmail account and set up that account to sync. Then I tried to delete my original account. The error message said my original Gmail account couldn't be deleted because there were apps tied to it so I'd have to reset the whole devise to get rid of it. I assume that would undo much of the work I want done before I send the Nook off.
I believe, but don't KNOW, that I can't delete my original Gmail account because there are PAID apps tied to it. If that's the problem I'll be OK because I can set up the gift NC with only free apps. Does anybody have any good answers to this? I don't want to send a noob a Nook and then find out he couldn't easily use it because of Gmail issues.
Hey i just rooted a NTG and i was playing around with it to see how everything works so when i give it to someone else i can explain things a little. In order to do that i needed to use my own google account to get things going. Now that i'm done learning i want to remove the google account so that i can help my gf set her account up on the device. I can't seem to find anything that will allow me to remove the account. Youtube will allow me to add another account, but not delete an existing account. I figure i can probably dereg and factory restore then start from scratch, but i'd rather not go to that length if at all possible.
Any thoughts?

My problem is this, i deleted myo ld google account, and added a new one, but at the "my apps" tab it doesnt show the apps i installed on the other account.. how can i make this appear or do i have to reinstall everything?..

Your purchases are all tied to your Google account. If you deleted it, it's all gone, sorry. ):
Edit: Did you mean you completely deleted your account from Google or just deleted your account from the phone? If the latter, you can just sign on to your old accounts to get your apps, but you can't migrate it to another account.

If you actually deleted your entire google account from google, the only way to get your apps back is to restore your google account

If you deleted it from just the phone, simply add it again to restore your apps.

I am asking this question on behalf of my Mum, she has just been given my Dads Samsung S4 after he got an upgrade and I struggling to figure out how to delete the old google account off my phone. Whenever I go in to the account settings I only get an option of syncing. How can I delete this without having to clear my Mums whole phone and losing everything?

Tap on the account's email address. On the following screen tap on the menu on the top right and you should then get the option to delete the account.
