OpenGL rendering and keyboard browser lag - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Not sure if its been covered somewhere. Search showed nothing for me. Getting into the debug menu in the browser and unchecking the opengl rendering box fixes the browser keyboard lag completely. However, it comes at the cost of scrolling performance which almost negqtes the whole "fix." I think id rather have lag than have the browser scroll worse than my OG Droid.
Anybody else have some input?

Yes, I've seen others report the same thing. So I use Opera instead.

Checking the normal rendering box sseems to help as well. But ill bbe hhinest and say I can't remember if it was checked in the first place...

I tried it a while back. As mentioned before, keyboard performance is better but you have to deal with scroll lag and youtube issues.
I pretty much use tapatalk for forums, so I'm good.

Why do all browsers suck?

All the browsers I've been using for my phone are slow, laggy especially in forums and typing is a pain. Why?
Miren; is slow on forums and loading pages. Scrolling is choppy and typing on forums is so bad. Loading massive pictures on forums is a pain.
Dolphin HD; is the same as above, but not as bad. Still an issue.
Skyfire; not as bad on forums, but not as good as say iPhone or Opera mini browser on forums.
Opera Mini; awesome scrolling, but no pinch to zoom, no link detection on forums, typing on forums is good. Website compatibility issues, like my bank for example.
Opera 10 beta; website compatibility... I can't remember what else I didn't like about it. *** edit *** oh I remember no flash support as of now, same with mini
Stock; Tabs suck, scrolling suck, forum typing sucks, can't exit program without task killer or hitting back 1000000000 times.
All the browsers suck at scrolling, but the one that is good there's a whole new set of issues. Why? is it my ROM (Team Whiskey) not being fully compatible or something to do with android in general?
I'm still on JI6 2.1~1 update but rooted but didn't modify anything browser wise and stock browser as well as opera both scroll and pinch to zoom fast with no lag or stutter so I dunno.

OP did you try disabling flash? My broswer works fine using bionix V. Try using JFD or JI6. Browser in 2.1 is waaay faster than 2.2
I dunno what would cause bad performance like that, maybe clear your cache data. I actually prefer the stock and Opera browsers better than their desktop versions for reading blogs and forums...maybe cause I can do it laying down and one handed thanks to swype.

You could try flashing that 2.2.1 ROM. The browser in 2.2.1 is supposed to be faster, right?
All the browsers suck in froyo for using forums. I cant even see what im typing atm due to the way they got rid of text editing box. The only browser ive found that still has it is opera mini and that has silly refresh issues that end up deleting your post before you can submit it.
Also lol at the captcha on this site. Was bloody hard to do on mobile. Especially for a forum about mobile development...
Have you tried Dolphin Mini? Its not perfect either, but I've tried all the browsers you listed as well, and this one has been my favorite so far.
firefox is ok, its has smooth scrolling, but it takes a while to start up and its a resource hog.
I happen to like Miren Browser from the market. Its free and gets the job done and often times allows me to DL attachments and such not normally accessible.

Honeycomb 3.1 Initial Impressions

If Honeycomb gives every users a mind-blowing experience from Froyo and Gingerbread, Honeycomb 3.1 is quite a update in terms of user experiences.
It improves over quite a number of areas to fix the glitches from here and there due to a first generation OS release.
One phrase to describe it is
Smoothness and responsiveness.
I had a head-to-head comparison with iPad 2 (my friend's) and my Xoom last weekend.
While apps I can find almost what I need from both iOS and Android (tablet compatible), one observable issue is the screen and apps responsiveness. Even my Xoom at that time was overclocked to 1.5G thanks to Tiamat's kernel, it barely matched iPad 2's screen by screen browsing, web page browsing and speed of apps opening etc.
With this 3.1 update, I thought Google hit home run on this front.
Other improvements includes previous mentioned by other folks
1. Recovery boot option appears (from folks who updated "naturally")
2. Under system update , there is a button to hit "check now" , so that we don't need to change system time to force a check everytime.
3. Resizable widgets (Gmail widget tested) is very handy
4. other publicly announced improvements.
Still exploring features now, rooted with instructions from this link:

Thanks stachre!
Will post a quick review with more screenshots on website. =)
Happy xooming folks!!!
Along with your points, I like that the recent apps bar now scrolls as well.
The YouTube app looks awesome in HD.

Bluetooth sucks. My keyboard keeps dropping when the mouse is connected. Other than that this thing seems great. Just waiting for some new kernels to drop now!
The new Quick Controls in the browser are fantastic. Overall the browser is much more responsive.
I've also noticed the keyboard lag seems to be gone.
Other differences are minor....
- the selection carrot when typing is more green
- the keyboard clicks as you type
- the Wi-Fi icon shows when you are uploading, downloading
I'm sure I will find more but its only been an hour since I flashed.

I'm wondering if you guys could test and see if the portrait lag is still there?
When you are in portrait mode, does sliding left or right in the home screen still lag? Thanks!

Also in Market, you can choose "app content filter". Damn I can't select "High Maturity" alone.
Thanks jiwengan for the quick reply. Not exactly sure how I should interpret your answer though? Are you saying that there is no lag when in portrait mode anymore? Thanks again!
Can you actually rate apps in the market on Honeycomb yet?
What quick controls in the browser? Mine looks the exact same

Quick controls look just like the ones that were already present in labs.
do you still have to be rooted to use a screenshot app?
I'm liking the performance enhancements.
For the browser quick controls, just to go settings in the browser, advanced and google labs.
I don't see any addition to leave comments yet in the market though.

in labs? So what exactly changed in 3.1? People keep saying they love the new browser but i dont see it any diff?
Labs is a section in the browser options where you have a few options to alternate your UI for example. One of which are the quick controls.
And they changed a bit so they got even better. Just try them...

He got confused on your questions.
his answer number 1 which was no, meant that when you actually turn it from horizontal to portrait, it still lags slightly before changing the screen orientation..
and his number 2 was to answer your actual question, which according to him is yes, it runs smoother than before.....
I'd like to see this for myself, but I'M STILL WAITING!

Portrait is smoother, but still not as smooth as landscape on mine. The update is fantastic though. Overall performance is better. The quick controls redefine tabbed browsing to me. No complaints.
The quick controls are two "rows" thick now instead of 1 and there are a few more controls. It is more definitely different from before as I used the quick controls heavily and noticed the change instantly. Overall a much nicer experience.
Has media playback improved? I'm mostly interested in how HC 3.1 does with scene HD TV show MKVs (720p with H264/AC3).
Thanks.

Really??? KB-LAG

I have been doin my best not to rant but I am at my wits end with this whole keyboard lag saga. I have sat patiently waiting through patches hoping that one of them would correct the issue and obviously that has yet to happen. This is so critical how could they not have a team working day and night on a bug fix? Which would also lead one to wonder if it isnt a bug but a hardware limitation, which would be even worse...
What are YOUR thoughts on the lag? Are you just becoming used to it? Do you despise it as much as I do? Or does it just not bother you at all? Inquiring "mind" wants to know...
I really hate it, but I've been trying to use Opera and now Dolphin HD more lately and both of those are much better on the lag or non-existant, but yes it's hard to believe this hasn't been fixed across the board on all browsers. I actually think the reason Opera and Dolphin are better because they have that flash on demand option, I think flash auto loading is actually slowing the whole browser down including the typing, and javascript also so I'm afraid there isn't anyway to fix it besides turning flash on demand option on and disabling javascript seems to help but who wants to disable features?
seriously the only time i get lag is when I'm typing in forums. I never lag when i use polaris. I almost never use the stock browser. Try using Dolphin's new browser for tablets, it's still in beta but works great
LOL at all the people that think DolphinHD is different to the stock browser. IT IS the stock browser with a different skin... It uses the same rendering engine as the stock browser, it uses the same javascript as the stock browser...
Typing in Dolphin also lags for me. I really have no idea why this only happens in the bowser. But then again it could be the scripts on the page.
only lag is in the stock browser by one second, every other app doesnt lag like polaris or evernote for example, for browser if ur concerned about typing something alot use opera there is no input lag

Maybe but the typing lag is still worse in stock than Dolphin, and I am talking Dolphin for Tabs which came out a few days ago, not DolphinHD

Anyone else having Chrome browser issues?

First thing I did was go to engadget on the Chrome browser.. and instantly disappointed. Page slow at rendering and scrolling not working .. ok a little but it goes a little.. then does nothing .. unresponsive . I'm assuming it's gotta be my tablet since I see no other complaints on this but it's not just a little slow ..there's something wrong. Of course I tried Mozilla and ICS+ Browser and neither work because this IS NOT a pure google experience. Not that I'm bitter after waiting weeks for this to disappoint me
Me too, and is your tablet lagging? Cause mine is too and when I look at YouTube videos it is smooth but mine and apparently yours too seem to lag, I too am disappointed though just use dolphin, dolphin is super smooth

Yep, I'm having a Chrome browser issue...dang! Same thing, scrolling is definitely not butter smooth! Also, on Droid Life, when I try to reply to make a comment, the text box disappears, or drops down so that I cannot see what I am typing? Very weird...and I'm thinking it's the browser, since the scrolling stutters...its gotta be a bug in Chrome? My N7 is still completely stock.

OK...last night I did a factory reset and the lag in Chrome is gone! Cleared cache as well. Now its Buttery smooth yiippeeee!
Occasionally, when scrolling web pages (which do not scroll buttery smooth!), The page will zoom in very quickly! Sometimes if I continue to scroll, it will zoom back out and then jump back in. It's very annoying when it happens. I haven't found anyone else posting about this particular issue.
I've been having issues as well recently. It has been locking up and not responding. The weird thing is that it affects other Google apps as well. Specifically, gmail wouldn't load emails or respond, wallet wouldn't initialize, YouTube wouldn't load videos or respond, etc. Then when I uninstall chrome, all of the apps work fine. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, and it still happens. Has this happened to anyone else?

Web browsing is choppy with Javascript enabled

Hello!
I have a problem with any website that use Java script. The website will be very choppy when scrolling and i don't know what is causing the problem.
Example website
http://www.cnet.com/news/apple-iphone-6-vs-galaxy-s5-and-htc-one-m8/
You will notice its very choppy until you disable java script from the settings.
Anyone know a fix for it?
I have tried and think it normal
Maybe you should clear your browser data
What browser are you using. I used to use dolphin on my note 3 and it was fluid. But on note 4 the default browser is less chopy. If you check here, I had more or less the same issue as you and you can see what others are using

Thanks for your inputs.
Yes the default browser is the fastest for me between chrome, firefox and dolphin. I noticed how choppy my scrolling is when I tried to compare my note 4 to my brother IP6+. The browsing experience on the IP6+ is very smooth however when I try to scroll and flick my finger fast it will only move like 2 pages max while if i do that on my note 4 it will go to the end of the website. Every phone has its procs and cons i guess.
But another problem i'm having is with Sammobile.com, When I try to zoom in the layout of the website increase in site and covers what I want to see. Same problem on Montblanc.com.
If there is any workaround this issue I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
