Just this morning I got this FOTA from Sprint saying it should fix minor bugs etc. Has anyone been able to confirm this or is it another Sprint Trap into deeper rooting darkness ?

Never take an OTA while rooted; if you did, and s-on, you're stuck till they find a root for it.

It's been out since last week and most of the custom roms have already been patched with the updated files..

Hmmm so i suggest i should just stick with the 4.22 firmware since i too believe its a trap lol Thanks for the feedback , i hope the root for gb comes out soon i miss the custom roms :'( I miss those tears of joy after a successful flash ! Let this be another message to all flashers and rooters , DONT UPDATE IT WILL RUIN YOUR EVO !

IT'S A TRAP.
IT IS NOT WISE FOR MOST PEOPLE TO ACCEPT OTAs IF ROOTED OR PLANNING TO ROOT.
But just for your information only,
if the phone was set to S-OFF with either unrevoked-forever or unrevoked3, OTA updating to 4.22 or 4.24 will break your root, but still leave the phone S-OFF (NO S-OFF DOES NOT MEAN THE PHONE IS STILL ROOTED). It can be rerooted by running a PC36IMG update to reinstall either Amon or Clockwork recoveries and then either flashing a superuser.zip file or custom ROM. Or, it can be downgraded back to 2.2 and then rooted.
ALL PHONES SET TO S-ON OR WERE ROOTED WITH ANY METHOD NOT INVOLVING ONE OF THE TWO UNREVOKEDs MENTIONED WILL NOT BE ROOTABLE FOR NOW.

4. Format sd card
I have the 3.5mm jack and want to be ready for froyo once it does hapen. My problem is, clockwork recovery is still installed. How do I get this back to stock?

If you want to be unrooted on stock recovery, I would unroot using the downgrade method by flashing the SAPPIMG to 1.5 then flashing OTA 1.6. Everything will be stock and you can manually flash OTA 2.2.1 from there. After that if you want to root, use SuperOneClick.
U have to hboot(volume down and power)the sapping.nbh, not flash it

So if you go back to stock 1.6 from CM6, is T-Mobile's OTA Froyo update automatic? How long would you have to wait?
I rooted for the apps only available using 2.0 and up, kind of attached to them. LOL I got my T-Mobile text about the OTA update last week.
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Shouldn't be to long, u can try to force it using *#*#checkin#*#* or u can download and flash them

The custom recovery will not interfere with the OTA update.
Just ignore it for now :0)
The sappimg will remove the custome recovery
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
To be sure, the custom recovery will not interfere with the ota correct?
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G using XDA App
YES.
It may overwrite the custom recovery, but that's no problem according to you :0)
You do know that the update for the myTouch 1.2 (3.5mm Jack) hasn't been announced yet, right?

Just got notification that I can upgrade android, presumably to gingerbread. Holding off, as I'm rooted.
Nexus one, in the uk.
Cool!

It's probably the FRG83D update. Unfortunately
What build are you running? If you are running FRG83D then this could be exciting news.
PS. Am on 2.2.1 now, so presume the update is... gingerbread. But I'm off to bed as its 1:30am.

D'oh. I tried to accept the update, but as I figured would happen, it didn't apply in Clockworkmod Recovery. Anyone know a good way around that?
Will the update unroot me? 2.2.1 rooted.

I did it via kies, worked after finally getting kies working which required toggling the usb data connection mode between camera and media. (Kies was just spinning saying "loading...")
Yeah I got mine Thursday morning, it prompted me to do it when I woke up about 8am I clicked ok it took about 20mins :good:
yeah I'd advise to do it via Kies mate (if you can get the bloody software to detect your phone properly - it's still buggy after all these years).
The file is absolutely huge so better to do it via kies and get some charge in at the same time.
Did it via kies, I think it made the phone cooler but prevents the motochopper root.
My interenet connection is only 5mb roughly and the file over kies is 8gb so would take forever
How come some people can get it other not ota

that might have been an earlier patch or something? Either that or maybe when you download it on kies it downloads the WHOLE firmware, as opposed just whats needed to update. Are you now running I9505XXUAMDM?

Please xda brethren, I need some help. My niece purchased a sgs4, which was rooted for like $150. She was in need of a phone. Anyway, the damn thing has been permanently frozen after a week of use. So i figured maybe flashing it back to stock rom. I found the links to download the stock rom, but its taking forever to get it down. I've been at this since 9:30 THIS MORNING and it hasn't downloaded fully yet. the download keeps stopping. I have to be back at work in 6 1/2 hours and i haven't even slept yet. Can someone please out of the kindness of your heart provide me with the latest stock rom for the sgs4. I'm dying over here for sleep. :crying::crying::crying::crying:

I would advise against it, if you want root, and possible bootloader unlock. It may not cause any issues, but why risk it?
Did you get the one that bumped you up to 11A yet? And how big does it say the file is?
I got an update on sprint that I'm passing up on myself until I see more about it

What version are you on now? If you are on 11A and getting an update, it is a new one.
I know it could be meaningless because they could be pushing it out in waves, but I am on 11A and an update check shows there is nothing out there.
Got the update last night.never took it though..my build #right now on sprint is lmy47d....guys do NOT update until root has been pushed out to us..could be nothing but then again why chance it...

Could someone please explain to me what being on 11A means? I don't recall if this is the update that disabled downgrading or not, if so that sucks.
EDIT: Apparently it is, well my excitement & anticipation been shot down quite a bit. -.-, sad really because I purchased this phone July 1st, shouldn't have this update on it...especially from eBay, shame.
