From what is being said it will be fully functional once Gingerbread source is released.

Big differenced I had the evo for almost a year, the samsung nexus s for a month and the epic and cm7 blows anything out of the water, they are some bugs hre and there but really cm7 has a lot work done that you won't believe from cuztomizing lock screen to take prmission from apps and such, from modifying power control widgets on the drop bar menu to themes, I think google should have done that first, cyanogen has done a lot of work and best of all is free, I donated a few times already they deserve the recognition

Ha ha yeah sort of, well they all got their ups and downs I mean the epic I think take better pictures then the EVO or the nexus s , the screen on the epic and the nexus s are amazing compare to the EVO , bit yet the EVO got the best development and support (netflix and such) and the nexus too, I wish the EVO would have been a 4" screen and super amoledl and the epic camera and the huminbird processor lol , well practicly and epic with HTC sense and development ha ha
I'll say stick with the EVO till EVO 3d could get fully rooted

If only I knew. I was just clarifying that it's not 30 days. It's SUPPOSED to be immediate. Just because they're not happy with it is no excuse to hold back the code.

Google wrote a lot of the code for HC, and has been able to get around releasing the code because it's still a work in progress (it came out around March and is already on 3.1).
Also the main reason (or at least the reason they've given) for not releasing complete source code (kernel source is available) is to avoid cheap knock off tablets that run underwhelming hardware flooding the market and destroying the Honeycomb reputation before it even has one.

So, its been 5 days since our official release of gingerbread but only two roms are using it. Hell I'm even running a Rom built off the shift port. Is it junk or something?? I figured by now, we would have a ton of devs using it. Not trying to raise Hell, just curious. Figured a Rom built off of it would be much more stable and faster than a port from another phone.

I'd guess that its because it is only sense 1.0. MikG and Synergy are both solid and stable, and they have sense 2.1. I think that for most people, going back to sense 1.0 isn't acceptable. Especially when the shift ports are as stable as they are. I'm sure someone will work on the OTA rom though.

Nope.
We're loving the recent push of Android 2.3 Gingerbread updates, and the latest group to get a sweet taste of the Gingerbread will be HTC Evo 4G owners.
Sprint announced this morning that it will begin rolling out an over-the-air update on June 6 to deliver the latest software release. As usual, the update will come in batches and users will receive a notification on their smartphones to let them know when the update is ready for download.
However, if you simply can't wait, there will be a manual download option starting June 3, where you can access the update by going to the Menu option on the Evo 4G and then selecting Settings > System updates > HTC software update. You can find more details and instructions on Sprint's Community site.

If this (http://androidandme.com/2011/08/news/13-things-we-might-see-with-the-release-of-android-4-0-in-q4/) is correct, any phone running 2.3 should be able to handle ICS.

It's interesting at least that we may start getting hints as to what lies ahead for both Android phones and tablets. I'm sure the CM folks will end up porting, so we'll likely see it on the EVO 4G at some point.
Looks like it's mostly UI changes though. Wish they'd posted a screenie of the Gmail app changes; I love the app but the look of it is plain and ugly.
I honestly doubt the Evo will get ICS, we barely got GB, and its not like that OTA was welcomed with open arms.

Im just curious to know what some of the new features on JB will be, and also what do you hope JB will bring?
Project butter is the main thing if I'm not mistaken. This is basically ICS but built much, much better in terms of code, fluidness, and speed. Correct me if I'm wrong. There are a few other nice additions but nothing major. Things like expandable notifications, new lockscreen animation, ect.

Well on the half/not-working non source port, it ran pretty damn smooth, noticeably so. Other than that, when it comes along I think it'd be better for people to try it themselves.

Jeez. They just got the damn source code today. The first thing they're doing is working on it for all of us and you're already asking for an eta? I could understand asking about the current situation, or progress, but an eta? Go sit in the corner. You're in time out now.

Don't think he meant it as an ETA probably more of an general guestimate. Like when do you guys think the next "insert item here" will be out?

Well, I've heard rumors of within a month. But again, they only "just" got their hands on the source. And I heard xbox saying we're waiting on some proprietary files to be released from the Nexus S that we'll need yet.

I'm posting from JB on my xoom from teamEOS. Since it's on this device, hopefully it's not too long for cm10. Until viperx came onto HTC One X, I had all 3 of my Android devices running cm9. Now it's spread, cm9 was on xoom until JBs installation today, slimICS on SGS and of course viperx on HTC One X. My wife won't let me root her phones (that sounds so wrong as at least use Aussies use the term root as slang for sex.

I agree with you about the ETAs, but I think you misunderstood this circumstance... He is not asking the developers, he is asking everyone in this thread. It can't really be called an ETA, because estimations require some knowledge of the activity behind the scenes (somewhat like an educated guess) - if anything, he is asking for a WSTA - a Wild Speculation of Time of Arrival
With that said, there is even less point in asking for that than for an ETA, because all of our answers are unfounded guesses - but at least he isn't directly bothering the developers (they don't have any obligation to respond in this thread, so it's their choice if they're bothered by it, unlike in their threads)
